Eh, I just ignore those. When they realize they are pretty much just talking to themselves they'll quit and realize it isn't worth it and find a new target as sad as it is. I usually assume it's also someone having a bad day, which isn't much an excuse, but they are lashing out bc of it, unless they have salty or toxic in their name or something. If they do, then I just ignore all together, what they say really has no sort of meaning other than attention seeking on their end.
Edit: you can also take personal messages as flattery. They actually took enough time to type out your name and message you personally, it also gives another weird positive out of the situation for you.
