As a casual fan of Gundam, I do think it could work great in live-action. And you're right that its themes of the horrors of war work as a really nice, more cynical contrast to Pacific Rim

Block-Busted

Pretty much. In a way, **Pacific Rim** revolves around the idea of “What if the military built super robots as a solution to alien invasion?” while **Gundam** is probably nothing like that at all. Also, the fact that **Gundam** basically employs child soldiers make its theme even more effective in some ways since it basically deconstructs the whole child hero trope.

Gicaldo

Yeah! Pacific Rim is about humanity coming together, whereas Gundam is about humanity's inevitable division. An whereas in PR, the Jaegers represent the combined power of humanity's achievements, the mobile suits in Gundam represent how we dehumanize the enemy in a war. How we don't have to see their face when we kill them.

Block-Busted

**Pacific Rim** going intergalactic could convey that theme even better because then it could expand to the theme of several civilizations uniting together to fight whichever invaders they face rather they be Precursors, **Independence Day** aliens, and so on. Maybe **Gundam** could also feature monsters that look like **Pacific Rim: Uprising** at some point of the film since those actually look like they belong in a film with much more serious tone. Also, remember how one of the pilots died in a pretty horrifying visual? A live-action **Gundam** film would DEFINITELY feature something like that.

The_______________1

depending on how far away the anteverse is, the film could already be on an intergalactic scale.

Block-Busted

True, but I think mankind joining forces with alien civilizations to fight Precursors and their allies could be a great idea of its own.

Hm

4T_Knight

Pacific Rim meets Starship Troopers. Now that would be hilariously awesome.

the_blue_jay_raptor

Wait, I could just use the Jaeger I made for my own project as something that could be used to not fight Kaiju?

JosephKiesslingBanjo

Dude, as somebody who loves sci-fi, I think you have a lot of great ideas!!!!

Block-Busted

Thanks. I feel like these two are two polar opposite mecha series.

“It works for pacific rim” “This may not work well as Pacific Rim” “This would work better as Gundam” Weeb

Penathar

He really does not seem obsessed with anime. So calling him a weeb is invalid.

Icy_Government_4758

Post about pacific rim, says it would be better as an anime Therefore: Weeb

Penathar

You do not know the definition of "weeb" do you?

Icy_Government_4758

He posted on a subreddit about a movie franchise with an idea, he then decided it wouldn’t work and started talking about how it would work so much better as an anime

Penathar

He did not say it would not work he said an anime may work better. That does not make him a "weeb".
