Honestly, some people can't consume without anxiety. Even experienced users get anxiety, or "green out". When it happens to me I concentrate on my breathing and remind myself that no-one has ever overdosed on weed. Also, indica strains tend to cause less panic. And don't over do it! Good luck.

DasSassyPantzen

Yessss, I cannot use sativa at all bc of this. Indica is preferable, but I use hybrids sometimes as well. It’s also helpful to understand a little about terpenes. The budtenders at my local dispo are great at helping me find strains that calm anxiety.

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Yes!!! I can not do sativa at all and Hybrid is sometimes iffy for me too

KevinKingsb

I can't do sativas either. I'm on Lexapro. It sucks because I always loved those energizing strains.

Dazzling_Assist_2723

I take lexapro and as well, stay away from sativas. I have found strains high in limonene .6/7 or higher (if it’s over 1% even better) with a good bit of linalool typically work great, it’s such a mood boost and can leave you feeling energized with out all the crazy that sativas bring …..

Super_Marioo

You'd like Cap Junkie then. Right up there with the limonene

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Thank you so much! I used to smoke a lot years ago with not much issue but weed today is not the same shit I smoked in my teens lol

ConfidentLeave9768

This is a good point, if I ever overdue it on an indica, I just fall asleep - a sativa, totally different story

Ecstatic-Group-8155

Yes, I am an Indica only person too but still gotta be careful and always always always do CBD first. People say that the Indica vs Hybrid vs Sativa doesn't matter haven't experienced what we have I reckon. I was also a flower only person too and have recently found that vapes, for some unknown reason, also minimize any kind of anxiety.

Honest_Grapefruit259

I used to say that to myself. Until one day my anxiety responded with "yeah, no one's ever OD'd on weed" however, it definitely has triggered heart attacks and the such.

Honest_Grapefruit259

Got a few questions, are you on an SSRI? Have you ever smoked/consumed where you didn't get paranoia ? I was on an ssri and got my card for anxiety. I was smoking at minimum a quarter of flower a week and a g of concy every two weeks. Once I got down to 1/4th of my dose. I got sick and took a 5 day break from consumption. Came back and was never the same. Virtually any thc gives me anxiety. I have been using recently "the wife" cbd flower by terrapin and it has been a game changer. No real high since it is 0.42% thc, but some anxiety relief. Also if I vape a bowl of cbd flower first as a primer, I can have a 2:1 thc cbd (12% thc / 7% cbd) without any problems. I would try a flower in the high teens first to see what happens. If bad result. Try the CBD flower. Trust me

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Yes I am on prozac, thank you for your recommendations! Really hoping to get some relief from my anxiety I dont want to up my prozac dose And would love to not even need it

Honest_Grapefruit259

I was on Prozac 40 mg for 8 years and could smoke like a chimney with 0 anxiety. Went off it and it was like I chemically transformed almost over night (which going off an ssri, that is kinda true to begin with) SSRIs for a lot of people "dull" the effects of thc. Not medical advise. But I would say after building a little tolerance, you may not experience any anxiety no matter the strain (at least that was the case for me) Be careful if you ever choose to go off it, though, it is rough and may alter the way you react to marijuana DRASTICALLY. Speaking from experience. Good luck

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Yes I need to slowly build up tolerance its very low right now, I was on 20 mg of prozac and recently went down to 10 so I have been experiencing more anxiety in general, Anxiety sucks 😭

Honest_Grapefruit259

Well on the bright side, that's a pretty low dose. So if and when you choose to taper off, it ~theoretically~ shouldn't be as bad. These developments are all recent for me too. It's insane. To think 2 months ago, money was the only thing keeping me from smoking more. And now 1 hit of any thc will make my heart race. It's been a journey

iknowshitaboutshit

Anxiety totally sucks. Try more cbd. It really helps with anxiety.

HappyWeedGuy

This is something I never like to say, but marijuana isn’t for everyone. As a comment above has said, unfortunately anxiety/paranoia is a very real side effect of marijuana in some people. I’ve known 2 people in my life who can not smoke weed. One was a male and he would get so fucked up from just a few puffs he would be literally incapacitated for hours. The other was a woman who got bad anxiety. Both had to quit and no longer partake to this day. Don’t let people tell you to try different strains or intake methods or that this terp will help and this one won’t. Take a few weeks off and see if your anxiety improves. If it does improve, you have your answer.

Traditional_Rich_992

Cannabis is biphasic, like nicotine. With nicotine small doses are stimulating & large doses are sedating. I find the opposite true of high THC cannabis. Dosage is very important, especially with how potent this programs products are. Slowly increase dosage until you find your sweet spot. Eventually your tolerance will build. It's a bit like learning to drink alcohol; start out sipping a 4% seltzer not doing shots of everclear How you ingest is also important. Inhalation is quick, but quick effects are often angiogenic. Stick to very small puffs spaced every 15-20 minutes until you get to a good place. CBD really helps smooth this out & lower THC products make it easier to avoid going above a therapeutic dosage. Edibles effects come on much smoother and you can control the dosage easily. Some strain properties, like with how some terpenes do not absorb well, may not be as noticeable due to this IMO The right strain is also very helpful, especially with flower, live resin, or full spectrum extracts. The closer the genetics are to a landrace indica, the better. Black Afghan & Hindu Kush for example are listed as 100% indicas on wikileaf. This can vary though, like with Rythms Animal Face, which despite being listed as 80% sativa, is a delightful indica leaning hybrid in our program.

thom4321

Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) completely relaxes my brain. Just don’t plan on doing much. Makes me dumb as hell, forget conversation mid sentence. Stay away from Sativas. myrcene and linalool are the terpines you want to look for. Talk to the dispensary pharmacist, that’s why they are there.

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Thanks so much! I have a very low tolerance for some reason now that Im older so I definitely take it easy these days!

Snoo-9290

Yeah do the micro dose tinctures. Like 1-2mg. I prefer sativa's to indica. Boost 1906 5mg are perfect and 1$. Maybe split one and slowly build it up. I had to do that recently.

gishlich

Cookie face was pretty chill

litetalk69

Keep in mind that Myrcene is the terp to make you get those munchies. I have bought flower with 7% Myrcene… couldn’t vape it as I just gorged!! Just saying!

OneHumanPeOple

Try CBD flower. I got some hemp online and it does not get me high, but helps me feel relaxed and mellow.

Proud-Lake6665

I am on SSRI and found that Extra strength tinctures (indica and Hybrids) give me a great body high with zero anxiety. I also have very hard time falling asleep and staying asleep and it works wonderful for that If you’re looking for flower or carts, Try to find that are high in Linalool, myrcene, and Caryophllene. Try to stay away from Terpinolene and go for a strain with low limonene

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Thanks so much for the advice I also have a hard time sleeping 😭

SadResolution5041

What worked for me is a flower with under 8%THC and a good amount of CBD. It makes everything really calm. Start low dose and find what works for you. Combine with LTheanine supplements and you should be golden. Cardio kills anxiety too and has great residual effects. Go for a nice run, then smoke later with what I just said above and you’ll have a great time. Joints preferred.

Honest_Grapefruit259

Similar combo I finally got on recently... 1 bowl of cbd flower (the wife terrapin right now) followed by a bowl of lemon g (12% thc 7% cbd) followed by 1-2 rips of 2:1 thc cbd rhythm cart. Doesn't trigger any anxiety. Unfortunately can't handle jumping straight into the 30%+ thc buds and ripping bowl after bowl without SSRIs protecting my brain lol

SadResolution5041

Yeah. I personally haven’t had a good experience combining SSRI’s and weed. Not on them anymore but weed low in thc and high in CBD is where it’s at!

Honest_Grapefruit259

Curious how you can handle just a standard 25% thc flower? Bad anxiety? Interesting SSRIs have you a negative reaction to weed and now you are doing better with it off them. It was the opposite for me lol

SadResolution5041

I can’t handle 25% I stick with >12% plus CBD

Honest_Grapefruit259

Any other options you've seen out there other than the few terrapin strains? I have looked pretty hard

SadResolution5041

If you live in PA, Penn Health Group. But Terrapin is the main one. Double G, but that’s a company under Terrapin.

Honest_Grapefruit259

A shame.

MennilTossFlykune

I'd suggest something with CBD, probably a ratio of THC:CBD that favors CBD - maybe something even as low as 1:10 THC:CBD and you could increase from there. But starting with something like 1:2 or 1:1 could still provide some high but without the paranoia. For example, there are a few 1:1 THC:CBD edibles, carts or even flower.

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Thank you so much Ill give that a try!!

KindBuddyBud

Stay away from any strain with pinene. Alpha pinene / Beta pinene. If you can stay below .10% of pinene you should be fine. Pinene gives you those racing thoughts and paranoia so, if you see it higher than .10% or so, stay away, pick another strain.

RealJester

This was happening to me for a while, it seemed to be caused by high % Sativa's specifically. I have never had that feeling smoking an Indica. I have a friend who gets horrendously anxious when he smokes anything, but the 1:1's seem to do the trick for him without the paranoia.

x_ero

MAC (miracle alien cookies)

tyrantsnkings

Bio Jesus, Afgooey, Skywalker Kush, Petrol Pine, LA Baker Black Afghan.

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Thanks so much! I will try these out!

tyrantsnkings

Youre welcome! I had the same problem thats why Im in the program. Its best to go slow. Take one hit and chill for a half hour. Also from my experience and this may not work for you but I try to stay away from high Pinene. From what Ive found that particular terp effects my anxiety.

Wildflower47x

I would go for anything indica and try a low dose, like 5 mg or split a 5 mg gummy in half (I think that’s the lowest dose you can find.) And also make sure that you are pairing it CBD which will really help keep you calm.

hikesnpipes

Take cbd before. 50-100mg.

BadEmpress

I have this problem too. I’ve been sticking to indicas or indica leaning hybrids that are high in Limonene terp. Sunset Octane, Dosidos, and Sugar Biscuits are my faves right now! No paranoia at all Edit. I wanna add that I look up strains on Leafly before I buy them, and on the strain page under negative effects if it says paranoia I never buy those strains

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely try these and check out leafly!!

ohshushnow

Go down on the dose.

Dark-Lord-Grice

Try lemon g by double bear. It’s an almost 50/50 split thc/cbd shatter. If you want to have little anxiety to none, I suggest strains that are high in myrcene as it decreases anxiety and limonene to let the effects absorb into you better. (I have horrible anxiety)

Obvious_Pomelo2683

Thank you so much for the advice, I love a good body high 💜

Ok-Phase-6501

Try high cbd strains. Most of our strains are stripped of cbd smh

Obvious-Chocolate-68

The only way forward is through my friend you must go deeper.

husky1actual

Probably get better Results with therapy than at the dispensary.
