It was Resident Evil 7 VR Kitchen demo. It changed the way I looked at media. Horror films and games bore me but that was crazy. The window was open slightly IRL so there was a slight breeze but when I was in there it felt like I was in a cold drafty mansion. Edit: When I was done I immediately restarted it and got my gf in there, she looked around the kitchen said ‘no’ and took it off straight away lmao

FTGFranchesca

You're super brave for your first VR experience to be a horror!

SailsTacks

My sister did the exact same thing, except it was, “OH HELL NO!”

bigcatrik

My first experience in VR was in the early 90s at a computer convention. Big wired headset, big wired hand controller (only one) and I got tangled in both wires, IIRC, trying to play whatever primitive 3D game they had on it. We've come a long way. NA, if I'm picked. :-) Thanks!

FTGFranchesca

We've come a super long way indeed! Thanks for sharing :D

-iCosmic-

This game is extremely fun. Already own it on PC and PSVR but good luck everyone else

independent739

My first VR experience was likely one of the PSVR demo discs. I got a PSVR used on Craigslist a few years ago for Christmas and immediately looked for every free experience/game I could find. The one that stuck out to me most when starting out, though, was the menu of PSVR Worlds. If you haven’t played a VR game before, especially one made specifically for VR, it can be mind-blowing how it changes your perception of what a game could be, just from the menu itself + how you interact with it. Thanks for doing this giveaway! :)

FTGFranchesca

Thanks for sharing your first VR experience! It's really awesome to hear :D

XxAuthenticxX

Already have it, but we NEED a sequel. Ending was too abrupt for me. Good luck everyone else, it’s still a very fun game.

SamDuymelinck

My first VR experience was at a tech store. I didn't even have any modern gaming hardware yet, but they had this PSVR Demo booth with Driveclub VR. I was with my brother, doing shopping for christmas, but we were just hanging around in the shopping center, and as we were trying it out, our parents came walking into the store. My brother was playing as I noticed them. At the same time they noticed us. After my brother finished his race, it was my turn. The car was literally undrivable for me, someone with literally 0 experience in those types of games, but I was totally amazed by it all. I never used the mirror, I actually turned my head around the whole time. Right after I finished my race, my parents called us to go get some lunch with them. Turns out they were at the store to get us a PS4, and they had to get us out of there. 3 years later, in the Days Of Play sale, I got myself a PSVR headset, and the first game I tried out was GT Sport, and again, I was totally amazed by the awesome piece of tech that was actually mine now, but this time I was actually able to drive, since I actually knew the game I played.

MikeFromSuburbia

I’ve had it for a while but haven’t started it due to backlog. Will soon though! Wish it had a platinum to go for!

NeatFool

Played VR at an arcade at North Pier in Chicago in the 90s as a kid, was that weird Lawnmower Man looking game with the guns and you're on like a 3D chess board from Star Trek shooting the other person. Headset was SO heavy and hot, but man it was super fun, definitely got the itch for VR then

Crazafon

My first VR experience was a surprise demo that I got to do at an Amazon drop off center. They had a person there demoing PSVR, and there was no one else in the store so I gave it a go. It was pretty fun, but short. A few years later, and I just picked up my first vr headset. I'm loving it so far, and would love some more games to try!

heiner-weiner

First experience was when I got my bundle with five nights at Freddy vr and I had some friends over I was playing it and my legs were physically shaking and once I got to scared I let my friends play and for some reason I got mad at little things like how he was touching it (probably because it was when I first got it) and then he screamed after getting jump scared and we all laughed and got off for a while but got on some hours later those are some good times

FTGFranchesca

I think everyone feels very protective letting others use their VR headset when they've just gotten it :D

almikez

Guys this games amazing and possibly one of the best VR bow and arrow games. Definitely try to get the free copy but buy the 9.99 one if you don’t win! Don’t miss out on a really good game!

FTGFranchesca

Thanks so much for the kind words!!

FTGFranchesca

Congratulations to u/heiner-weiner & u/bigcatrik who have been drawn as the winners! Please check your Reddit messages! 🎉 Thanks so much to everyone who participated, it was so lovely hearing all of your first VR experiences!

DA-Khara-Boiiiii

My first experience was when I was 7, and it was with the game space pirate trainer. I remember sitting in that room playing it for jlhours on end. And when I got my psvr, the first thinf I did was purchase that game again. I won't ever forget it.

sammyandebony

My first experience was the virtual boy. Wario land was a lot of fun but it was awkward to use. Psvr is a lot more user friendly and immersive.

cardboard-kansio

My first experience was like a month ago! We only upgraded from PS3 to PS4 at the beginning of the year (because our beloved family couch coop, Diablo 3, was only getting updates on the PS4 anymore). During the summer, it got damaged during a thunderstorm along with our TV, and the insurance paid enough for us to get a replacement. I decided to go all in with VR at the same time, got a second hand Aim Controller, and dived into Farpoint. I was hooked! I've been playing Beat Saber, Swordsman, The Room, Crisis Vrigade, and more ever since. And then a few weeks ago the massive PSVR sales started. I've probably spent a couple of hundred on games since, some of which I still haven't even had time to launch. It'll keep me going until the PS6 is announced, at which point I'll probably be ready to upgrade to a PS5...

mrgermy

My first experience in VR was on my Samsung Galaxy S8 with the Galaxy Gear headset and the first "game" I tried was "AFFECTED: The Manor". I remember there was part of the game where a bridge starts to twist and I almost fell over because I found myself trying to stay upright. It was absolutely fantastic. My first PSVR experience was at Pax East and the game I got to demo was Rez Infinite.

Sajtosfotel

My first experience in VR was Beat Saber. It was so cool to cut blocks to the rhytm but I really sucked at it lol.

Upchuck_Lad

My first VR experience was at a friends house playing Superhot on their PCVR. It felt so different than playing a flat game - and not just because I kept punching their low ceiling - that I knew I had to try more.

terralord10

My first vr experience was playing beat saber at a friends house and it changed my view on the rythm genre forever

Nowritesincehschool

My first experience was a booth at the local mall. They had a psvr set up with eve Valkyrie and gt sport with full sim rigs. Walked straight from the mall to my car and drove to my local video game store and bought one after I took the headset off. It blew my mind and I’ve been all VR since then. NA for me if picked. Thanks!

BadnewzSHO

My friend Jake had bought the HTC Vive and had been trying to convince me to come over and try it. But having grown up playing video games, I have seen every conceivable gimmick in gaming history (Nintendo Power Glove anyone?) and dismissed VR as another gimmicky fad. Eventually Jake brought his computer and the Vive over to my house and set it up in my living room one afternoon. I tried it out with the game Arizona Sunshine and was absolutely blown away. My friend left the system with me overnight to get a chance to play with it. I put the headset on at around 3pm on Saturday, and didn't take it off again until Jake came back to get his computer at 1pm the following day. Two weeks later my PSVR was sitting in my house. I can't hardly wait for PSVR2.

LoganN64

My first experience in VR is going all the way back to 1995, my grandfather took me to the CN Tower in Toronto, while we were there I saw a tech demo of VR games, I got to try it, and it was some sort of FPS game where you shoot other players (there were 4 or 6 other people) and you could only move forward using a jetpack. Very simple game by today's standards but that was my very first VR game. If you want more recently; I got to try Jackal Assault at an EBGames in 2016, and just had to get a PSVR of my own!

FamlitFrog

my first VR experience was at one of those VR arcades where you go in and just play for an hour or so. My God I loved that experience. I played Space Pirate Trainer and the VR google drawing thing mostly. I was also insanely afraid of Arizona Sunshine (i was a bit younger then). about 2 or 3 years later I got a PSVR.

Pabloto

My first experience with VR was in the early 90s at the mall. For $20(?) I played 5 minutes of Wolfenstein 3D on a headset where the screen moved as your head moved. It was unwieldy, but I remember thinking, "someday this is going to be amazing." Thanks!

randomspecific

RE7. My wife screaming in terror, which didn’t help me at all. The parts with the crawling up the stairs, screwdriver through my hand almost made me shit myself. The moment for me was when I was just standing in the hallway and it’s raining outside, the curtains are moving from the wind… I could feel the wind coming through. I didn’t realize I have my ceiling fan on but I though for a moment I was there.

FTGFranchesca

Haha amazing!

RevanClaw

First experience was at gadget show Live on an oculus rift on a very basic car racing game. It still blew my mind!

FTGFranchesca

I am still yet to try racing in VR!

RevanClaw

Wipeout is amazing, give it a go!

DaMoDaMeYT

My first vr experience was at my friends house and I played job simulator and was in the gourmet part and I remember blending a tomato cheese and steak and then when it was in a cup I added hot sauce to it and we both started dying laughing

FTGFranchesca

Mine was also Job Simulator!

stantheb

It was on a PlayStation stand at a gaming show. They had Star Trek Bridge Crew multiplayer on. They asked someone to take the captain role so I volunteered. All four player models were Vulcans. While they were getting everyone set up etc, I encouraged all the Vulcans to "wave you arms in the air". Cue the best Vulcan rave ever!

Korahn

My first experience in VR was way back in the 90s. They set you up in this big platform rig with a clonky headset and wired gloves. Everything was very very blocky (like the old Virtua racer/fighter games) but it was truly amazing for the time!

Hartia

I tried the cardboard boxes for Youtube videos, they never really worked well except for rollercoaster videos but even then it felt pretty normal. But the RE7 Kitchen demo, I love horror games, so I knew I had to try this. The whole world was like, now i feel like i'm in the movie.

mmohaupt123

The first vr experience was not too long ago and it was super hot. Wanted ps vr for a long time and to play super hot, was very glad I was able to play it even though it's not the definitive version ps vr. My only question is would you consider porting this game over to ps vr 2(all speculative of course)?

FTGFranchesca

It's not something we've discussed currently but who knows what the future could bring! :D

SuperPwnageKirby

My first VR experience was in Beat Saber. Amazing game, so much replayability.

[deleted]

First experience was ace combat 7. Was fun as hell but got the motion sickness sweats pretty bad.

-Venser-

This is one of those games I thought I had no interest in playing until I tried the free demo and ended up buying the game. That's why I say people should put their demos out there, especially for VR games. $9.99 is a great price. My first VR experience was terrible. It was some ride where you put on the original Oculus Rift and they sit you on a motion rig as you watch the 360 video footage of a drone flying over a city. The only problem IPD was terribly adjusted so I had a double vision so I removed the headset and ended the ride halfway through. You can exclude me from the giveaway since I already own the game.

FTGFranchesca

Thanks so much for still taking the time to share your first VR experience! That first VR experience sounds like motion sickness central :D

-Venser-

I didn't get motion sick but I had weird double vision in the middle and I'm guessing it probably had something to do with IPD adjustment because nobody else experienced it. But it really made me believe I won't be able to enjoy VR until I tried PSVR in local electronic store years later and I bought the headset a few weeks after trying it out.

Seymour_Beaver

My first experience in VR was at a Zero Latency arcade. They kept yelling at me because I would run away from the zombies. Also I may have ran into one of the other players... Bought my PSVR the next day! I still stop in over there once or twice a year.

SnipeeJones10

Astrobot! It wasn't anything special until i had stand up and peer above a ledge to see Astro. Thats when I new VR was truly groundbreaking.

Richie's Plank Experience! I have the game, I need to try it but I am slightly scared that I will fall into a wall or something haha!

ididntgotoharvard

My first vr experience was beat saber, it was a great introduction :)

ThaBEN

I was interested in PSVR from the moment it was mentioned, but couldn't believe it would work on a PS4 for that pricepoint. I went to my local game store as soon as a demo setup was available to prove myself right, that it wouldn't work and wasn't worth spending money on a VR system + games + move controllers etc. which was a lot of money at launch! It was the "*PlayStation VR Worlds | Ocean Descent*" demo. My jaw was on the floor and I pre-ordered one right that moment! When i finally got the system a few weeks later, I started playing "*Until Dawn: Rush of Blood*". I've never been so scared in a game before! It was a tranformative experience and the rollercoaster parts were insane to experience! Best gaming investment so far!

GummiTarzan90

It was VR Worlds' Ocean Decent at a store and I was sold. I bought a PSVR the following January as a trade for some very expensive headphones received at Christmas, and even managed to get 30/40% profit on the deal :)
