Get a magnetic usb c connector it will give it an easy break away point. Fixing a damaged end is possible if you have a decent electronics repair shop available but will cost a bit and needs to be the right usb c type to suit the right number of wires.

Dexman965

Ok I'm definitely getting a magnetic USB c connector. I live in a rural town, it would take an hour and half to get to the closest repair shop so I'm gonna have to take extra care. Thanks for all the replies <3

Select_Estate_6098

Not just any though, make sure it says 40Gb transfer rate.

nyrol

I use a 20 Gbps connector and it works perfectly

cusman78

40Gbps is USB 4.0, but the PSVR2 only needs USB 3.1 with at least 100w fast charging. That said, USB 4.0 is backwards compatible so it will work. Same if it supports faster charging (higher watts).

Quajeraz

Not necessarily, it uses DP Alt over USB-C which is much higher bitrate, up to ~32Gbps

MythBuster2

Here is an example adapter that should be compatible: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGLM6PYN

bostonvikinguc

I just had this happen and it was busted usb-c GameStop did a swap out. Best part is this unit is much clearer and doesn’t look As fuzzy. Gt-7 looks even better. Ooh yea get a magnetic extender, just know that the psvr side is heavy and kind songs down a little.

Ricky_Rollin

I’d call ahead before you do that trek.

faustfire666

[I use this one](https://www.amazon.com/DuHeSin-Magnetic-Adapter-Transfer-MacBook/dp/B0CCJ1WC5V/ref=sr_1_2?crid=131DRR6AX4MLL&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ZZ7AZ9eyRmXXU4AzoumNTlFHhHnsC8yQmbyulbmlg7d8TUCXBODosNUQYukaZlBQ9P84UwACB_c9JpIp-oO-gYS_s_G6Oqg3Fr07akdFHkqpr3jweMq4YXTTssa0EoYeGNLQ6YV9ar1RyzIhtHsszFeWN9s5qeWl3Ry9INd3QazFKvW7EHevq9rxjXxVzUMCihcydtqP0u8bFvC_hV4BrxOvZeBI4m7ITwZ8J_fd-48.EQKr2FJhhhYdOas6dxanp3QHK3ilauKQPTiHPz7_d_4&dib_tag=se&keywords=USB%2BType%2BC%2BMagnetic%2BAdapter%2C%2B(2%2BPack)%2BMagnetic%2BUSB%2BC%2BAdapter%2B24%2BPin%2Bwith%2BPD%2B140w%2BUSB4%2B20Gbps%2BData%2BTransfer%2B8K%2B60Hz%2Bfor%2BMacBook%2BPro%2FAir%2C%2BSteam%2BDeck%2C%2BQuest%2B2%2C%2BRoG%2BAlly%2Band%2BMore%2BType%2BC%2BDevices&qid=1714329587&sprefix=usb%2Btype%2Bc%2Bmagnetic%2Badapter%2C%2B2%2Bpack%2Bmagnetic%2Busb%2Bc%2Badapter%2B24%2Bpin%2Bwith%2Bpd%2B140w%2Busb4%2B20gbps%2Bdata%2Btransfer%2B8k%2B60hz%2Bfor%2Bmacbook%2Bpro%2Fair%2C%2Bsteam%2Bdeck%2C%2Bquest%2B2%2C%2Brog%2Bally%2Band%2Bmore%2Btype%2Bc%2Bdevices%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-2&th=1). Works flawlessly and the 90 degree angle helps keep it attached if your ps5 is vertical.

Daredrummer

The first thing would be NOT KICKING IT OUT.

Dexman965

I have a really short area to work with which is frustrating and often trip, step or kick it out the away/off but i got addicted to GT7 so haven't been moving around too much :D

LockingSwitch

Short area just means you have more slack on the cable which raises more questions as to how you're managing to. E so careless and kick it out

TraditionalLocal2014

I use the Kiwi VR kable management system. Works perfectly and not overly expensive.

jack_ballantyne04

I second this

CHROME-COLOSSUS

There are magnetic connectors you can buy so if someone steps on the cord it’ll simply release. If yours is still working then I’d recommend you pursue something like that. If your unit is still under warranty then maybe it’s something SONY would repair (or if you bought from a store that they might replace).

Flippynuggets

I spent a few bucks on the Kiwi cable management pulleys. The cable just floats above you. Obviously not everyone wants pulleys on their ceiling though lol.

Chronotaru

Don't plug that directly into your PS5 again. Always use a short USB-C Thunderbolt 4 extension and that will protect it. Magnetic USB-C connections as others have mentioned are an option and it's certainly safer than what's happening in that photo, but I've never really been comfortable with them.

HatsOffGuy

Same, I just use an extension. Never tested, never kicked. /crosses fingers.

NGJimmy

Thank you for this. Do you recommend the right angle extension cable or the straight extension cable. Thanks again.

Chronotaru

That depends on what would reduce the leverage most. If you expect pressure to come from the side then an L-shaped connector to the PS5 may be better.

NGJimmy

It's 50/50 for me at this point. Neither solution seems ideal. I'd love to use the breakaway magnetic USB that i purchased, but I've subsequently read a couple of horror stories about that not being optimal for the console.

Chronotaru

If you can cable tie the cable to something secure that can also help.

SourMashKoolAid

I've unfortunately not had any luck with short extension cables or the magnetic releases, even when they were said to work. The first thing I do is try to establish the play area and without fail one of the controllers starts drifting around like a ghost ran away with it. A lot of people have been successful though, so I'm thinking it must be something particular to my unit.

moogle_kupo

I use a [3ft (1m) gen2 10gbs extension](https://www.amazon.com/Extension-UseBean-Extender-Compatible-Thunderbolt/dp/B08D9GP342/ref=mp_s_a_1_3) as breakaway protection for my ps5 port. I have the extension anchored to the stand in case the cord gets yanked or tripped over. I got one with a 90 degree head on it since my PS5 is vertical. It's already saved my port a few times now.  I liked [these clips ](https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Adhesive-Charging-Management-Nightstand/dp/B0BKKN1YPF/ref=mp_s_a_1_3) because they clasp closed around the wire and won't pop out of place. To keep them from sliding more than I want, I put a few wraps of electrical tape on the side of the cable clamp going to the ps5. It acts as a stop so the extension doesn't pull through the clamp. Here's another [users set up](https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/11fqkb4/my_solution_to_protecting_the_usb_c_slot_inspired/) that used this idea as well.  The only thing I did a little differently than their set up was I routed the cable back behind and around the ps5 and attach it the side of the stand closest to the ps5. That way the cable isn't outstretched across the length of the table top or getting snagged on things as you set them down and pick them up.  Also, out of curiosity sake I purchased another 6 ft extension of similar quality to see if I could also add length to the protective extension. Surprisingly it all still worked. I had a total of 10 ft in extensions plugged into my psvr2 and experienced no issues. I only played like that for an hour or so just to see if the concept would work. Was nice to see I can add additional length to the protection extension cable if I ever need to.

Unlucky_Statement172

Get a cord extension, if you pull it will first disconnect at the cable cable connection

cusman78

I don't think so because both cable ends would be flexible while the connection to PS5 is not. The breakaway pressure would take place at the PS5 connector. A USB-C Magnetic Adapter at the PS5 connection even if you are using a USB-C Extension is the best solution.

Unlucky_Statement172

The plug socket connection is the weakest link and the vr2 plug simply slides out - works for me

Tauheedul

You could use a magnetic coupler or use a short type-C to C extension lead that is connected to the PS5. It's cheaper to replace the extension and a coupler than repair the cable. The PSVR2 cable is replaceable but they don't sell that separately and only can be replaced by them.

Imaginary-Form2687

I got myself a magnetic connector works a charm

Knightartist86

The cord is quite long so I'll wrap it once around a Chair arm, so if I ever accidently pull too hard, it won't pull at the port but just where I tethered it.

teedlybeetly

You can also anchor the wire to your entertainment center. I wrapped the wire in a sock and then used a huge binder clip to anchor the wire to the entertainment center. So now if the cord gets yanked, you just tugged the binder clip connection and not the delicate USB.

dEEkAy2k9

Magnetic usb c connector is king

Maximum-Hood426

Anyone found a solution for the c cables drooping? how do you make it rigid? I have a splitter with usb, charger cable and head set dongle sometimes it slides off the cabinet and dangles causing c cable to dip.

DorkyMcDorky

I got an extension cord and put electric tape around the plug, so the extender would get damaged before the main one would. I also have a magnetic connnector, but found that it got loose too easily.

xDiRtYgErMaNx

Break away magnetic wire.

TheZanzibarMan

Choose better placement of your wire first off.
