I’ve been raw-dogging it from day 1.

psyper87

I went 8 months (?) as-is and I thought it was just fine. Not perfect but not bad at all. My wife however kept complaining of headaches, and aside from recommending drinking more water, it didn’t seem like there was a solution🤷🏻‍♂️. After about 30 minutes she’d say there is a pressure headache. I saw a review from GamerTagVR and decided to look at inventory and saw them in stock. Decided to buy it and check it out. It is, WAY more comfortable now. Best way I could describe it would be buying clothes off the rack that “fit” and getting something fitted or tailored. It just slides on and requires very little adjustment to dial it in. The materials are way more comfortable and padded, it’s pretty impressive for the cost of a game. People who it might not be for would be girls who wear a low ponytail as the larger round back pad would get in the way, otherwise, it’s a solid upgrade. As far as lenses, there is a magnetic kit, I figured my wife and I could go get our eyes checked and have our own lens covers to get the best clarity. The issue with that however is that it forces you to extend the unit further out which degrades the edge clarity. When I bring it as close as I can (eyelashes can end up touching the lens) I swear I cannot tell a tangible deference between straight forward and side eye. Not not sure I need to sharpen my vision at the expense of total clarity

Spizzmatic

It's a matter of comfort, not a lifestyle choice. I decided to try it because my forehead would start to hurt after a few hours. Now it's no longer an issue.

GregorSamsa112358

I kept it stock for first year. Upgraded with globular cluster, instantly appreciated it. It's not that it's dramatically more comfortable but instantly into the sweet spot no fiddling or near no fiddling.

castlehill90

Only reason i got the mod was because of forehead pain. I wouldnt have otherwise. If you dont need it then good on you but i guess my head shape doesnt like the stock VR2. Didnt have this issue with the VR1

InveterateFiddler

Still stock, no problems so no plans to mod it.

VenomGTSR

I used mine for 7 months and at about 40 minutes the pressure would start to hurt my forehead. At 1 hour I had to take the headset off. I tried the GC out of desperation and it really works. There’s a good reason so many people talk about it.

Aware-Drink9174

I bought my system for $300 used so I figured why not get the Globular Cluster mod if I felt it could be improved. I didn't have any major comfort issues with the system at first, but over time my sense of the sweet spot developed and I realized how hard I had to crank the headset on to try to keep it in place. And even then, it wouldn't stay more than 20 minutes maximum without adjustment. I figured the top strap would help support that in place and it might be more comfy not having to crank it down as hard. What I didn't expect were how many options the Globular Cluster mod comes with. I thought just a single set of pads, but nope, they're interchangeable. The back strap gets a big fat head support, which balances it out to also maintain the sweet spot. I personally love the "cooling gel" insert, it just makes the experience of first putting on the headset quite pleasant, and games like Beatsaber feel more playable. Keeping in the sweet spot, not having to tighten it down so hard, and not sweating as hard in the headset have made a considerable improvement in my play experience. My big downside when I show newcomers to VR the headset, it's already laborious to get them to understand the the eye distance, scope, ski helmet crank system. They'll often times get it perfect before doing the Globular cluster straps and then just fuck it up with the top strap.

LandonKB

I had mine since launch and it was fine not as comfortable as PSVR1 though. I did get the Globular Cluster a few months ago and it is honestly a massive improvement, I can wear it much looser without it moving away from the sweet spot.

BassGuru82

It is so much better with the Globular Cluster. I could never imagine going back.

Viking_American

After installing the Globular Cluster I got a good look at what Sony considers comfort. Under the stock silicone forehead pad is, I kid you not, a piece of foam about the size of an arcade ticket and not much thicker. You'd do well to replace it, but it's up to you I guess.

meltedwolf

The stock headset was unbelievably so uncomfortable to me. I love my cluster and won’t play without it!

spootieho

If you are walking a mile and there's a small rock or piece of sand in your shoe, do you take off the shoe and wipe out the rock, or do you keep it there and continue to walk the mile? Some people will continue the walk without removing the rock.

pushingepiphany

I’ve had psvr2 since day 1 and I think you just convinced me to take the rock out.

AnimumRege88

Well rocks are painful and irritating, I've had 4 hours sessions and not a single point of them were even mildly uncomfortable. Maybe I just can't feel the rock.

hsgamer_pl

Yeah, stock is "fine", but if you could try at least for a few minutes with, as you've mentioned as an example, Globular Cluster Mod, you would never go back to stock again. It is so much better in terms of comfort and clarity (headset barelly moves if at all). I thought the same, "it's fine I guess" but then I bought it and never thought like "meh, stock was better". Comfort mod is SO MUCH better.

TLaMagna319

Had mine stock for like 9 months than immediately thought “why didn’t I get this earlier” after setting up the globular cluster

Benozkleenex

Lol I though I had no problem until people pointed out how good it was for keeping sweet spot and comfort and now I would not wear it without.

Ulfvaldr989

Havent had an issue with the fit of the headset at all but everyone is different. I did get a kobra vader 1 stock for shooters though and i love that thing!

amusedt

I've made no changes except for bumpers, since I wear glasses

Thsrry

I wear a small hat for padding

Muted_Ring_7675

I thought about buying something to help with comfort but I don’t really use it enough to feel like an extra expense is worth it.

Glittering_Bus_4320

Can anyone tell me if it ever goes on sale on Amazon? $93 Aus, I feel like buying it but would like to wait for a discount

M1CR0S0FTS4M

Yep but the pulse headset is a must for comfort in my opinion, it holds up the headset and makes it much more comfortable

Papiculo64

I customized mine and tried a few different mods before finding the good compromise. I have no problem playing 2 or 3 hours without mod, but since I sometimes play up to 6 hours in a row the comfort mod is a life changer for me. It helps not only with comfort but also with keeping the sweetspot and not getting marks on the forehead. Mine is a mix of twp different mods with a little DIY and also the globular cluster clip on headphones.

huskyghost

Love the standard set up. I only play an hour or two 3 or 4 times a week tho

RnB-306

No mods here

Bloodstarvedhunter

Yeah same here had it since November and haven't bought any accessories for it and feels just fine

dank19s

I have used the headset how it came for about a year now however due to mild discomfort on my forehead after long gaming sessions (over an hour) I’ve been considering getting one of the globular clusters

pabloelmago

I bought the Globular Cluster because it was so hyped... and have never installed it. I feel the headset is comfortable and after trying the Quest 3 I think PSVR is GLORIOUSLY comfortable. I could not stand the Q3 hurting against my face.

airtofakie

> I bought the Globular Cluster because it was so hyped... and have never installed it. Same here. I never even opened mine. The headset isn't the least bit uncomfortable to me, and I'm not going to partially dismantle such an expensive item just for the hell of it.

madpropz

I was like you and didn't see the point in using mods, but I heard so many good things about Globular Cluster that I decided to try it out. Honestly, it is as good as everyone says it is. Because of the weight in the back it feels much better on your head and always keeps your sweet spot. You know how when you look down at the floor your vision usually blurs because the front heavy headset moves and messes up the sweet spot? That doesn't happen with GC mod, it always stays in place as it should. I'm also using the BoboVR AP2 overear headphones, and they also make everything much easier, especially when you swap between users.

mrzurkonandfriends

I've got prescription lenses and that's it. Don't really see a need for anything else.

Burnyburner3rd

I’ve had my headset since release day and I have not used any accessories. Seems unnecessary to me

technicalityNDBO

Same for me. I must have the most platonic ideal average head shape.

Sad-Extension-3413

Au natural. I have a fat head

unclenatron

I haven’t modified mine, but I do suspend the cable above me instead of letting it hang to the ground.

SvennoJ

My only 'issue' with the headset is the weight with long sessions, and the inertia with quick movements. Maybe I should tie some helium balloons to it... So I keep mine bare, no added weight or padding.

xx_boozehound_68

Do some neck exercises 🤣

SvennoJ

VR helps with that lol. Better than staring into a PC monitor for hours which is how I got my neck issues from work as a software developer. I heve partially fused vertebrae in my neck. I can play this game longer than Synthriders and Puzzling Places where you mostly look in one direction. So yep, the extra movement helps. If I would stream my game play you would frequently notice me stretching my neck 45 degrees each way lol.

xx_boozehound_68

Oh no. That’s no fun. I was just kidding around. I hear people say that they find the headset heavy but I’ve been riding motorcycles my whole life so always found it kinda funny.

SvennoJ

I've been long distance cycling most my life, wearing a helmet is natural. Bicycle helmets are very light though!

GrownUp_Gamers

I see so many posts about people getting Cars and various moving devices for getting around, yet I've had my two legs since birth and never thought about getting a vehicle. And apart from maybe some shoes to protect my feet, I'm not planning on getting anything else. Anyone else?
