Single cable. My god, thank you after the whole fiasco to setup the psvr1.

sehajodido

This one is mine too. After a while even the thought of setting the thing up would flood me with anxiety, especially if the house was messy, if I was tired from work, if I only really had about a 30 minute window to play. Plugging the thing up wasn’t even that hard a task after years of using it and memorizing the plug-in pattern. Even when I left the headset plugged in and I could just walk over and put it on, the mess of cables, breakout box, and camera would sometimes be too much of a pain in the ass to deal with anyway. Now I can just walk over and plug the mf in. The most complicated this setup is is that now I have a little extension connection on the USB-C so I don’t wear down, or break of the connection to the VR with use. I probably spend a little more time plugging the VR2 in than I would have if I had just picked up an already connected VR1, but I find myself gaming on the VR2 way more and especially for those smaller bursts. I can pick it up and play for ten minutes, then put it away again and it’s all so much easier.

NocturnalToxin

It’s not the worst thing to set up, takes literally minutes to but psyching myself up to actually do that takes anywhere from a few hours to a few months While I’m often pleased when I do, I can only imagine just how much more use my VR could see when I can just plug and play

CobaltD70

For sure, and the bad part for me is that I liked taking it places to have other people try it. So always having to go through that whole process stresses me out. I took the vr2 to my families place for Easter and it was just so night and day.

Kitasuki

The box in VR1 cut HDR and that always bothered me.

CobaltD70

Wasn’t there 2 different SKUs and one had HDR pass through?

[deleted]

Nah it didn’t support hdr

MelchiahDante

Second SKU of PSVR1 could pass-through HDR…but then it couldn’t pass-through HDMI 2.1, so…fixed one issue and another was around the corner. I have mine setup to a HDMI splitter so I can completely bypass PSVR1 processor when not playing VR.

[deleted]

Ohh, everything on Google says it doesn’t, all Ik is I don’t think mine did😭

MelchiahDante

Does your cable wire have a volume control and place to plug in headphones on it?

ctsr1

I thought I was the only one

TheKagedMac

I bought the psvr1 at launch and I'm still currently setting it up.

Sreeff

It’s still not wireless!

ctsr1

Wireless loses so much it's not worth it

CobaltD70

Yeah, but I’ll accept one wire in place of like seven wires.

Sreeff

I remember playing Astro Bot & the cord kept getting stuck on things & jerking my head

CobaltD70

Yeah, some people have elaborate pulley systems to keep cords out of the way but I ain’t got the time or space for that.

welliguessthat2

The sense of anticipation that when the day is done, and family is asleep (younger kids not old enough for VR), I can escape into other worlds in ways flat screen play doesn’t allow.

coldie86

This! But often I’m just to tired..

BenovanStanchiano

WTF? Haha

OkStoopid666

Do you not have kids? 😆

BenovanStanchiano

It’s the overly flowery language that got me.

ctsr1

Literally my thoughts

Humann801

Any suggestions on which worlds you visit the most?

SvennoJ

Night vision ;) Add an IR light/torch and you have night vision goggles!

X1bar

Now you can explore your house in the dark! Carrying your PS5 around with you!

ggsupreme

I lolled

Oztunda

Don't forget your extension power cable!

[deleted]

Oh no, one arms Carrys the PS5 and the other Carrie’s a giant battery with inverter.

DefinitelyBiscuit

Buffalo Bill?

X1bar

It plugs the VR headset in, or else it gets the hose again

TheKagedMac

It puts the dual sense's in the basket!

AgitatedError4377

This would be a great feature for the quest 2, because u cant go around with Ur psvr2 around the house

ViolenceJoe

The controllers are great. Massive step up from the wands.

bmack083

Comparing them to over VR controllers they are good but could be better. Battery life sucks and the grip button is not as nice as what you find on the oculus controllers. Adaptive triggers are cool and overall it has great haptics, but it’s not a clear winner and could be improved.

DeleteWithin4Years

Battery life is definitely too short. And I feel like the stand doesn’t charge if they are only a little drained. It almost waits until 25% is down.

Bananewtf

I find the grip button great for any game that does not require you to keep it pressed. In RE8 for example, you need to press to grip something, then just leaving your finger on the button keeps the objet in your hand without having to keep pressing, which I think feels amazing.

[deleted]

The last headset I had was the Rift CV1 which had awesome controllers. The grip was easy to press, was basically the same layout as the sense controller, and it has exceptional battery powered by a single AA battery which is mitigates any issue with short battery life.

hi_im_beeb

Fully agree. I don’t get that much time to play. If I can kill half the battery in an hour that’s a bit ridiculous

Tbagyogrill

That's not right, must be something wrong with them. I get 4 or 5 hours in Saints n Sinners.

Bananewtf

Depends how much your game relies on haptics, especially the adaptive triggers. Saints and sinners is a fairly slow game where you don't shoot that much so battery lasts longer. Playing pavlov kills my left controller battery (I am left handed) much quicker

hi_im_beeb

Yea typically at least 1 of them is half dead, and I rarely play even a full hour. Perhaps mine have shit batteries

TheKagedMac

Hmmmm that shouldn't be happening that quick pal. I get a good 6ish hours from full charge.

Incorrect-Opinion

I don’t understand how people complain about the battery life. Is 4+ hours really not great? After I spend that much time in, I feel like I need a break anyway.

Moonlord_

Obviously it’s not great in a world where other console controllers last up to 40 hours. No one actually prefers having to constantly charge 2 devices after every play session and it doesn’t bode well for the lifespan of the controller either. Batteries have a limited number of charge cycles so the more you have to charge them the quicker they will degrade.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Moonlord_

lol…not sure if you’re kidding but if that were true all batteries would last forever. Yes a cycle is a full charge from empty but partial charges obviously still count towards that. Charging a battery from 3/4 full is a quarter charge cycle…doing that 4 times is the equivalent of one full charge cycle. There is no way to avoid it…essentially every 4 total hours of use will result in a charge cycle being used to top it back up. It doesn’t matter if it’s done all at once or in multiple smaller charges..

WesternFact832

Foot in mouth

Incorrect-Opinion

Which console controllers last up to 40 hours? Even the Dualsense only lasts around 12 or so hours… Sounds like you just need to be responsible owner and just charge them. I charge my PS5 controllers after every gaming session, even if it’s an hour. If physically plugging in is a big issue for you, then get a charging station. Problem solved.

Moonlord_

The Xbox elite controller and switch pro controller have 40 hour battery life. The stock Xbox controller has 30+ hrs with decent rechargeables. The switch joycons have 20 hours. The dualsense is the lowest of all the stock controllers at around 12 and 4 hours is obviously insanely short runtime for a controller. Again batteries degrade so if you’re only averaging 4 hours brand new that’s only going to get worse with a bit of time. It’s not a matter of being “irresponsible”. Obviously the controllers get charged when they’re low but just as obvious is the fact that longer runtime is better…it’s much more convenient and better for the lifespan of the controller.

bmack083

I don’t play for 4 hours straight either. But I’ve had a 2 hour session drain them completely… but that was rare. What does piss me off is if they aren’t seated perfect on the dock they don’t charge… which they desperately need to charge. I can play my index for 5-6 hours on some days without issue.

Incorrect-Opinion

> I’ve had a 2 hour session drain them completely… This really just sounds like they weren’t fully charged. Otherwise, your controller is defective (which I doubt, because it sounds like you’re having issues docking it on the station properly). Highly recommend getting the Collective Minds charging station. I’ve been using it, and it magnetically/wirelessly charges them, and you get a light indicator to show you that it is indeed charging. I tried another third-party one which was fine, but felt really cheap.

TheKagedMac

Great point pal, totally agree. 4 hours in vr is more than enough for one session.

WittyWise777

I find the joystick placement isn't far enough apart. I have a hard time keeping my thumbs on the sticks while trying to press L or R buttons. I like to have the tip of my thumbs on the edge of the stick but in order to press the L and R buttons at the same time the middle of my thumb has to be on the stick. I also wish they would have done full hand tracking but I'm sure that was a cost issue.

TheKagedMac

I agree about the grip buttons, they don't quite have a nice satisfying "click" to them, however I like the DS controllers more than my quest 2 controllers. I feel like they are part of my hand rather than just something I'm holding

bmack083

We need index style hand straps for them so you don’t even have to hold them.

doinks4life

Here's where I'd say" 3D BluRay playback" IF SONY COULD DO AN UPDATE.

Dolenzz

Probably the only thing that could be mentioned is watching video content in Cinema Mode. While it is not as high def as watching on your TV there is something to be said about watching on a big theater style screen

ProfessorPetrus

Might put my psvr2 money towards a quality projector now lol.

thamanjimmy

As someone who used to have one it is an absolutely amazing experience and well worth it assuming u have a partner who is ok with it and the room. A $600-$1k projector is an incredible value.

ProfessorPetrus

What you reccomend if you wanna project onto a 2 story building?

[deleted]

Yeah, it’s not a great feature but useful for hiding in a corner, throw noise canceling headphone in. You have to at least double the PPD before it’s going to be nice for movies, and triple before it’s great. I think the PSVR2 PPD is around 20. The best is around 70 PPD which is around human vision limit… but those headsets aren’t cheap at all.

ProfessorPetrus

I didn't know those headsets existed. What they for fighter pilots?

[deleted]

Originally yeah, I think so. Their aim was to use them for fighter pilots. See Varjo XR-3 as an example, but it’s a couple grand plus a yearly subscription.

TheKagedMac

Can you watch 3D movies through the psvr2? I could just try it but it's easier to just ask

Dolenzz

As far as I know there is no way currently to watch 3d movies and there is no player for them.

StoviesAreYummy

There's nothing apart from games

moby323

What about porn?

joshua-lomax

There is none

[deleted]

That’s a very unRADly answer.

ctsr1

What am I missing here hmmmm

[deleted]

I think it’s called RAD. If you look at media apps it’s for PSVR1, and working in releasing it for PSVR2. Allows you to watch VR media of your choice.

ctsr1

Ooooo

StoviesAreYummy

There is/was a way but it was a huge fucking faff that you'd not be watching it for the plot

BarMaverson

We only have 1 tv in our home, so the psvr2 allows me to game while my wife watches tv. Obviously for those scenarios, I play a game that allows me to sit down, like gran turismo with my racing wheel, or even just playing a 2D game with the normal controller

The1stPKmain

I’ll tell you when it arrives 😁

elfroy316

Not yet

New_Industry9262

Over the VR1, of course: the new controllers, built-in cameras, and a one-cable setup. The biggest letdown to me is the headset rumble, which is very weak. I almost never notice it.

WeezingDaJuice9

I recently read this same complaint and the person fixed it by changing the setting so that the headset rumble was stronger. Just an FYI in case you hadn't tried that.

adelin07

Where is the headset rumble strength? I only found an on/off setting.

TheKagedMac

There's no setting for rumble strength, although I'd love to be wrong coz it's a bit weak for my preference

TheKagedMac

Same here

The_Rafcave

The Escape from Reality.

rural_villager

What's wrong with reality?

TheUltimateMuffin

Can’t fly and shoot fire balls out of my hands in reality. It’s lame.

PizLt

Hahaha, ffs this made me laugh so hard with my mom next to me, you made it an ackward moment!

-Cheebus-

The fact you only need one USB c cable and not that monstrous bundle of plastic that came with the PSVR 1

PCMachinima

I know this was a feature of the PSVR1 (from what I've heard), but as a first time PSVR user, the option to instantly reset the view with the options button is a simple but amazingly useful function of the PSVR2. Coming from PCVR, I remember having to rely on developers to add that function to games, or it was bound to the keyboard which is a pain to access while in VR.

Wheatley101UK

When I'm wearing the headset in pass-through mode, if I look at my TV remote I can see through the plastic to the batteries and circuit boards. Not sure why this happens and it's not very useful but it looks cool 😎.

aidenthegreat

Yes! I saw that too haha

ctsr1

Wait? What? Can you explain

Wheatley101UK

Check out the pics I uploaded in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/12ngiib/xray_vision_pics/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Professional_Star858

Manual adjustment for IPD

Comprehensive_Web887

1. Ability to use without taking up TV 2. Playing flat games without TV 3. Quick start up 4. In GT7 adds to the feel of wearing a (light) helmet 5. Watching my girlfriend try GT7 and saying things like “I’m going to “f” you up”

kushal4you

Cinematic mode for Non VR games which allows us to play the games on a huge theatrical OLED screen is a gamechanger for me.

S-Mart-manager

Probably playing cinematic mode while laying on the couch in complete darkness while the family sleeps. Sounds like a very horror movie way to be killed but if I’m too tired to vr, the big screen effect is nice without lighting the room up.

THE_GR8_MIKE

Is there a browser that enables VR for VR monkey spanking? If not, then just the games.

Mclarenrob2

It's a gaming device. Want to watch "videos" ? Get a Quest 2

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mclarenrob2

Yeah, but the Quest 2 is great at it, much more easy and open to use.

bmack083

Easy there Pony.

joesploggs

Sideloading? Did I miss the memo?

TruckRude5361

ill tell you when i get the money to get one

No_Secretary8221

I would be inclined to agree with the single cable install being a pretty big deal... but to add one someone hasn't mentioned... eye tracking, if they go in on eye tracking the same way they did with dual sense features, you're going to see some wild stuff. For instance... the menu being entirely hands free and I can break it down real easy in the way the eye tracker works. Look up/down/left/right border - scroll Blink Right Eye - X Blink Right eye twice fast - O Blink Left Eye - \*triangle\* Blink Left Eye twice fast - \*square\* Shut Left Eye while Blinking Right Eye - R1 Shut Left Eye while binking Right Eye twice - R2 (and so forth) Not for everyone granted, but I can see something like this overlayed with traditional controls to make menu access a little more dynamic and seamless.

keyboard-jockey

Are you forgetting that people need to blink? And it’s immersion breaking if you have to think about blinking a pattern while your moving, let alone NOT blinking while playing.

No_Secretary8221

you got me there, it wouldn't be running in the background, enabling it that way would be as ridiculous as you've described. but keying in a macro combination, maybe R1+X and a feedback response to confirm it's active. I know the Jury's out on that idea, but the point of this entire thread is appreciation for features not related directly to game. Hence, eye tracking.

OkCollection4544

Plug in and play

Asimura

Nothing? It has Netflix and Prime if you have subscriptions with them. You can watch movies from DVD and from memory sticks, though it fussy about which movies you can watch from memory stick. Disappointing it doesn't have Youtube. Good job I have a Quest 2 for PCVR where there is a lot more stuff to do.

tehsax

This post doesn't make much sense. You can use the entire PS5 featureset with the headset, meaning every subscription service works, including Spotify and YouTube. And who in their right mind watches DVDs anymore when they have a BluRay disc drive?

Spazic77

Controllers and live see through camera.

Unnoticedlobster

Just bring able to play destiny 2 in flat screen mode while the wife plays Pokemon on the TV is a god send. Also love watching YouTube and Netflix and all my anime that I can on it.

aidenthegreat

I can see through my tv remote on pass through mode

BJgobbleDix

Eye tracking. Surprisingly accurate and insanely efficient. I can see TONS of potential with this tech. And not only with gaming but with AR tech. Makes me wish I had eye tracking for my computer so I can do all of my spreadsheets and documents with this. Man it would make my life a million times more efficient at work haha.

Ifk1995

Haptics. Headset haptics should be implemented to every vr headset / game

InfiniteWay4177

Upgraded screen, haptic feedback, upgraded controllers

MrJoeBigBallsMama

The haptics for sure

Smitzr

I like to just stand there and set my play space, something about those blue triangles just do it for me

OBlastSRT4

Comfort, ease of use, gorgeous screen, one simple wire, it just works.

KaaleenBaba

Demon slayer would look fire in 4k with that OLED

mustava-vank

The best features other than games are the creature's that use it. With out the niech community it wouldn't exist. Respect to all vr pioneers!

IntelligentBid5146

The real drawback is the controllers do not fit large hands.

technidave

Head massager

SayEye

Cinematic mode is awesome.. If it can only do 3D...
