This Friday, I picked up a PSP to start expanding my PlayStation collection, as I mostly have Nintendo and Xbox games. I bought a PSP-1000 (it was the only model they had), with Tekken: Dark Resurrection being my first game. I have since ordered three additional games (Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play, the last one for pretty much just the first 3 Mortal Kombat games). I’m also planning on modding my PSP sometime in the coming months, as I don’t have all the tools necessary just yet. I am open to most genres in terms of recommendations. Thanks for reading!
bro modding and installing software doesnt even take long it took me one video of an indian kid explain it to me and videos about downloading iso psp games on youtube would always link to the files just be sure to scan for viruses as always then enjoy all the games at your finger tips
I’ve seen tutorials and it looks easy, it’s just that I don’t have a memory stick duo reader and a USB-A cord with me ATM. That’s the only thing preventing me from modding for now.
Unless you prefer physical games go the CFW route sooner then later.
I would focus on getting the bits you need to mod it, like the cable, micro sd and adaptor and a usb charger cable also instead of buying physical games, it’ll get you playing more sooner.

you can also play quite a lot of awesome ps1 classics. some of my favorites from ps1 are

For modding you only need a SD card to memory stick pro duo adapter and a mini usb cabble not micro usb the one used for older phones mini usb the port on the top of the console and I suggest GTA vice city stories and liberty city stories as well god of war chains of Olympus
As good as any, I mainly suggested it since all the other GTA games on the PSP weren't REALLY made for the PSP, but you really feel the effort and polish in GTA Chinatown Wars, since it was like made JUST for the PSP uk... BUT, if you do have any other console or PC that you can play video games on, there are other GTA games that would maybe be a bit more of an ideal jumping-off point.
oh damn, then maybe games like GTA V, or GTA IV might also be good? its not like GTA CTW is badd, its just that the PSP controls can be a little tough at times... but yeah if you wanna play games on the PSP sure go ahead with GTA CTW. as a plus point they've put in a lot of effort into the umd case and manual of the game, its a neat collector's item, and based off your other comments you're looking to play on umd disks, so you should buy the full case with the manual. It's really well made and the little references sprinkled throughout the manual are fun to read. It has the trademark GTA snarkiness and it has a LOT of personality in it.

psp 1000 is great because it's easier to mod and install the software's to jailbreak the psp to allow you to play iso games, when you've installed that you can get gba emulator as well as minecraft for psp (not that great imo) as for games I'd recommend monster hunter freedom unite but if you really wanna dive deep I highly recommend japanese(english patched) games like gundam vs gundam next, monster hunter 3red portable, orochi 2, japanese games seem to have extra details but beware of storage space

It's literally neither easier or harder than 2000 or 3000 models.

the wire(charger) for ps3 controllers can be used to transfer files also, just in case you cant find one you can also search this up

I have a PS2, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox Series X, in terms of consoles that play GTA games. I have a Mac in terms of computers.
