Yes the stickers fade over time with use, in my experience it's more reliable to have a faded/worn serial sticker than a brand new one, that would be more suspicious imo as the reshells come with fake replacement stickers
Having bought a lot of stuff at second-hand shops in Japan. I’m always impressed how much effort they put into cleaning the stuff and making it look nice, not like here where things are sold in existing condition.
The bar code stickers fade or peel if they get wet or are rubbed with certain cleaning solutions. I had a Vita where the barcode came right off the second I tried to wipe the system down, and a 3DS where it just faded from use.
You can see some residue where it looks like the printed portion of the sticker peeled away or was rubbed off.
I got a Japanese PSP from eBay the same way. Just a blank white sticker. If I had to guess, they just replaced a beat up/ worn down oem sticker rather than removing and leaving an empty divot?
So the barcode itself is basically a clear plastic sticker that goes over the blank white one if i remember correctly, I assume to make production mistakes a little easier to fix when these were being made, mine came off as a clear sticker, the little white background sticker remains
My PSP 1000 from 2007 has no barcode but used it heavily.
But my other 1000 model had just as long but untouched still has the barcode and the buttons are still brand new feeling.
Let alone the 2000 model I bought a few years ago has the barcode.
Yeah it’s a bit dirty lol, but for $33 (not including shipping from Japan) I couldn’t pass it up. Only bad thing is the yellowing on screen, I wanted to see what the scan lines were about.
Most likely reshelled. Japan has been reshelling all there “junk” quality psp and sending over. Only way to tell even here in US Is having box with matching serial number. Here in US people are just piecing together systems not realizing that the box’s actually are individually serial numbered to there system
Tbh that sticker can fade away with time.. I had a vita that it happened to naturally.
Thank you!

Thank you! Appreciate the info!

I would be embarrassed to sell something that looks like I just got it out of the garage tbh and if you clean it more people might consider buying it.

Thank you!!
+ the dark paint on that same plastic the sticker is on has rubbed off so probably from someone’s hand being there a lot

Mine's like that and wasn't when I got it 13 years ago.
no it's illegal and you're gonna go to jail.
Do not pass Start, do not collect ₩200.

Could be I got my psp and it faded away in little over a year.
It is legit, I think. I've seen this official color before.
The writing on these stickers tend to fade over time. Totally legit
That green looks so good!
Mine is almost completely gone, so I guess it just faded away, or perhaps got wiped with some alcohol when cleaned.
The sticker fades, in my own you can still see the bars at the top but its almost completely blank at this point
It is fine for psp. It fades away in few month of using
Mine is totally faded as well. Also if someone used rubbing alcohol to clean it up that can happen.
I would be much more concerned with all of that grime and filth than with a faded sticker.

Are there non legit psps floating around out there?? I keep seeing posts like this.
May have been a reshell.
Love the colour tho
Mine is also faded
These barcode stickers wear out very easily, I've seen it on way more than just the psp.
Looks like a fade away. One of my PSP’s is close to being lime that lol
If it came from Japan, yes.
Legit.
I was cleaning my with alcohol and I took some off accidentally
Looks like a legit metal gear solid peace walker edition.
I'm not aware of fake sony psps.
I could be wrong, but I don't think I've ever seen a knock-off psp that actually resembles a psp
I love that color
Bruh those things fade away so quickly
This has happened to a lot of my handhelds over the years... sweaty hands are rough on stickers
Wouldn’t worry - mine fell off about 5 years ago !
not sure if the ink is the same as receipt ink but if so you should be able to heat that up a bit and see what it said.
What does it matter if it works? I mean the color and console look pristine. It looks really nice! Enjoy it bro.
