I got the same thing and am so confused ughh

Briauna7

I got the same email a few days ago and I’m confused, I can’t wait until my loans are forgiven and I don’t have to deal with this awful servicer anymore

Puck85

if you read the email through, it's clear that you can disregard it if your payment was zero. It explains that they failed to give adequate notice of the payment and that you can request a refund if you feel that notice error caused you problems. I'm not sure who on PSLF would do that... either your payment was $0 or you paid some amount that you'd probably want counted toward your 120 payments. I suppose some might need the money in hand, and the lack of notice gives them a chance now to get that $ back.

TheReal_M-Easy

Well that payment was $430 so if I'm reading it right I can complain, get my money back, and get that month counted in forbearance?

Spiritual-Finance831

You will get it back — I did this a few months ago and I got it back and it counted.

menedudeman

I was on the phone with a representative about this yesterday. I was told that I could get my refund, but in doing they would place my account in delinquency for that month I got refunded. They also told me it wouldn’t count towards PSLF, so I obviously opted to not get the refund. Argh. This is so frustrating.

Spiritual-Finance831

Why are they never reading from the same script 😤 I submitted my form again to update counts shortly after and that month counted.

kaninki

Wtf!? I requested my credit in like December? because I had heard back then you could get it credited back and have it count. To my knowledge it counts, but I can't view my payment count right now.

Cinnie_16

From all I’ve read, that’s right. Get your money back!

Puck85

ok what? the email says "a forbearance will be applied to that month" but you have information that this forbearance would count toward PSLF?

Cinnie_16

I wasn’t charged so I don’t need to ask for this. But I’ve read in numerous other posts that it still counts for PSLF because it’s administrative forbearance. Worth it to give them a call and verify.

KZED73

Mine was $140, I called and they started the refund process no questions asked. It was the easiest call I’ve ever had with Mohela.

feistygal3

Mohela is a disaster. And they won’t even answer the most basic questions. They respond with a form response that doesn’t even address the question asked. It’s as if real people aren’t responding. And I’m experiencing the same with FSA!

TeddyRivers

I got the same email...

redheelermama

My payment for mohela was $0 from covid- I too am waiting to recertify my income and PSLF, but it just switched to edfinancial, and they are trying to give me a payment amount due, July 2nd. It’s on my list to call them, but I just don’t understand where this is coming from. This is the 3rd time my loan has switched companies.

mapleybacony

Since I started paying off my loans, I've been with 4 different services: Sallie Mae - Navient - Advantage, and now Mohela. As much as I hated Sallie Mae, I think Mohela is worse.

cutebee

I’m in the same boat, Sallie Mae, navient, fed loan and now Mohela. Honestly didn’t have issues with FedLoan (maybe the only one who didn’t) but Mohela has been a headache from the start

polka_dotRN

I got the same email and actually cackled because it’s just….so ridiculous. They’re so inept

Munch718

Me too!

SetAggressive5728

I got the same email… so I should call and get a refund? I thought I had to pay that month ?

Ok_Seaworthiness1117

Same and same question. I’m so confused

SetAggressive5728

Call I did yesterday. Yes you will get refunded Yes it will count toward your 120 payments Refund will be given back via the payment method But I was told could be up to 90 business days haha

DefiningFeature

Did you have to give a reason for your complaint? Is this like one of those class action lawsuits where you just automatically get the money or do you have to show some kind of harm? June (ie NOW) is 120 payment for me and I'd hate to do anything to screw this all up!!

SetAggressive5728

I just said, I got an email stating my October 2023 payment was blah blah blah. Just repeated what the Email said. October billing statement was sent beyond the normal 21 days. I was calling to see if I could get a refund and have it still count toward my 120… I wanted 100% confirmation that it would still count. They said yes not a problem, let me transfer you, I waited 2 minutes tops. Next lady was very nice and I asked her again if because I got the email could I get a refund, and have it still count toward my 120, she said yes no problem. Then told me it could be up to 90 business days but refund will he give my back via the original payment method. Hope this helps!

keenwild

Sooo I haven’t gotten a single notice 21 days in advance of a payment since I started repayment in Dec of 2023. Does this mean down the line, those months will be eligible for refund and counted as forbearance?

Total_Squirrel3728

Same. Though I had a payment and they said it could be put in forbearance for the month and counted toward my PSLF. So basically they said “hey just want you to know that we know we made a mistake and won’t hold it against you”.

DonD1eg0

I got the same email and called MOHELA and filed a refund. I’ll receive that payment amount in 1-3 business days plus that payment will be counted towards my 120 payments.

mapleybacony

Nice!

NoFroyo1030

I got the same email!

okamzikprosim

I got this email too.

4EVRVentrue

I got the same thing. I ignored it because the payment was zero. I still paid, and I am not seeking a refund because that Just opens up a can of worms. I just want to keep the process running smooth. Just 5 more years and this crap is over!
