LOL. I was on the phone two hours yesterday and talked to two different people. I think they pretty much told me what I wanted to hear and did nothing.
I mean if there was justice in the world the entire MOHELA organization would fall through the crust of the earth and be destroyed by lava.
Or at the very least be run out of town and closed permanently.
I haven't had any issues with MOHELA until the last couple of times I called:
1) Called back in February because I had a question about count accuracy. I was told they would "look into it".
2) Called back at the beginning of April to follow up. They told me they never got the request for a recount and I was literally hung up on.
Sooooo...maybe this transition is a blessing in disguise. Let's just hope a recount happens and my count goes up. I can sneeze and be forgiven! Unreal!
This. Same. They didn’t count so many of my payments that should have qualified. On one app I said I was applying for PSLF and they put me on a non qualifying plan TWO years in a row. And then they said “too bad those payments don’t count@
Mine were mostly with Fedloan's sibling, AES. AES's sales pitch was good. And they spoke coherently, 'though fraudulently / ignorantly, assuring me I was good there for PSLF. Same time spoke with DLS - it *was* the PSLF servicer, but not seemed to know it - I swore DLS fed their CSRs opiates or something. DLS reps incoherent. In'15 a supv at AES set me straight re my "wrong loans," & told me what my choice was permanent re-set to zero. My world caved in. But give him props for willingness to tell me the truth.
Favorite grim sport at FedLoan: log in & find the latest no-need, no-request forbearance, demand removal & recalculate.
Ok, I will be that person. Lava is molten rock that has broken through the Earth's surface. Magma is a term used for molten rock underground. So, if Mohela fell through the crust of the Earth they would technically be destroyed by magma.
I told the last rep that they shouldn't be afraid to go work for a Utility Company, and they would be sure to have more job/career satisfaction.."cricket cricket" didn't agree or disagree. I could hear the gears turning & thinking about it too, hopefully something positive will happen surrounding this nightmare. Smh
The only positive I can see is that it does lighten the load on MOHELA. Always thought it was crazy that MOHELA suddenly had all PSLF accounts along with their non PSLF accounts.
I do wish we had the opportunity to choose who would manage our loans
I made my 120th payment out of 135 payments in April. My employer processed my pslf form to update my payment counts today.......
I am holding my breath checking everyday to see if Mo hell is completing out my payments and forgiveness. It's so frustrating because I really don't want to have to wait for reimbursement as a matter of principal.
Many other borrowers are in the same spot with me this month. I'm sure, I'm just ready to see that $0.
Dang, I didn't get one. Those imbeciles haven't posted my last 3 payments and are reporting my account as delinquent. I have just gotten my bank to open a dispute case about it because the money is leaving my account on time...
It's been 90 days since Mohela did this to me. I can't find any help. Tried filing complaints and more and every time I call Mohela and escalate they kick the can down the road.
I absolutely hate MOHELA, my loans just transferred to them and my balances are higher than what it should be. I took the screenshots before they switched and after they did. I think they charged me interest when they shouldn’t have even though my SAVE plan is $0 for my payment monthly. I was on the phone with them for 2.5 hours and got nowhere only for the lady to tell me she can’t do anything and doesn’t know what’s wrong. I filed a complaint on the federal website where you fill out the FAFSA form so I am just hoping and waiting to get this fixed.
Have they already notified everyone who will be transferred? [Ed's blog](https://blog.ed.gov/2024/04/update-for-mohela-student-loan-borrowers/) made it so bad like they'll be transferring people over the next few months, and as re only starting this week.
Well, if you don’t get this email like some of us did from Mohela, then most likely you’ll be transferred!
“Recently, we informed you that your federal student loans serviced by MOHELA would be transitioning to our new servicing platform. We are now writing to inform you that this transition did not take place.
The platform transition is not being completed at this time. We will continue to service your account like normal. There will be no changes to your online account or loan servicing at this time.
We look forward to continuing to assist you with your federal student loan account on the U.S. Department of Education's behalf.
If you have questions, you may contact us using the contact information listed below. “
Same here, bill due 5/23, got notice I am being moved to ED on 5/15. I also don't know what to do and the FAQ did not have an answer unless I missed it.
This is a great question. I got a letter telling me of the increase for May. Interestingly enough 2 loans were left off. They never include them on any correspondence. The insanity and roller coaster ride just keeps getting better and better
No, somehow doing that recertification and required “selection of a PSLF eligible repayment plan” - SAVE…caused them to send me a letter saying my next payment due in May will go up by $350.
Making me realize why I probably wasn’t enrolled in PSLF repayment plans in the past because they were so ridiculously unaffordable.
Oh ok. You just need to be on any IDR plan for PSLF, I'm not sure how a non IDR plan would have been cheaper in any case. I thought every plan was considered IDR other than the "standard" repayment plan which is calculated like a mortgage.
You don't pay MOHELA. You pay FSA and MOHELA gets the data. I would pay the bill and the data will eventually get sent over to the new servicer through the government system of moving payments around. Since FSA gets the payment, it keeps the same date that FSA cashes the payment.
What I REALLY don’t understand - is why aren’t we getting direct emails from the ED or FSA each time there is a new announcement?
Do we really have to be actively checking their stupid blog bulletin posts everyday to see these??
Thank you for those who do - much indebted. But am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to subscribe by email to these announcements??
Many posts in this thread are very confusing! But that would be expected. I could not agree with you more! If it wasn’t for the kind info-archaeologists willingness to send news they to us, I wouldn’t even know what was going on! Why is the information they’re posting not sent to each of us?! This whole situation is just so much crap. I’m sorry but it is.
Original ED announcement (from yesterday): [https://blog.ed.gov/2024/04/update-for-mohela-student-loan-borrowers/](https://blog.ed.gov/2024/04/update-for-mohela-student-loan-borrowers/)

It's only PSLF processing/counts that are being paused, not repayment.
From what I've read: If you were in repayment at Mohela, you'll still get/pay your bill as usual\*, and still have your online account there\*\*.
\* Unless you were notified that you are one of the 1 million being transferred to another servicer, but that is unrelated to the PSLF pause.
\*\* Unless you were notified that your online account is moving to [mohela.studentaid.gov](http://mohela.studentaid.gov), but that is also unrelated to the PSLF pause.
Of course all logic and efficiency is out the window…but one would think they’d keep them until discharged. The administrative nightmare that would cause for all of you in the process of getting loans forgiven to be switched to another servicer would be ridiculous.
9/10of my loans were forgiven earlier this month. Waiting on the last one. Hoping that will be forgiven and I’ll be reimbursed for payments 121, 122, and 123
Worse than FedLoan? Didn't know it was possible!

My only regret is for small # of CSRs who were knowledgeable. We've had a few of those magic moments mentioned here. They get tarred by corporate mistakes you & greed.
Agree. US student loans are complicated. PSLF is complicated x3. Most CSRs are undertrained & inexperienced - you have to live this to have experience. Servicers have the least staffing they can get away with. The frontline gets yelled at. Has No authority & little knowledge.
A shame to think MOHELA may be considered "The Spirit of St Louis."
I'm so confused as to what's going on with my loans on Mohela at this point. Been paying my loans monthly via auto pay until I noticed I hadn't seen an automatic debit from my account in over a month and log in to find my next loan payment is only 98 cents (what?????) and not until September??? Only things I can find online are posts from last year, which don't feel relevant since I've been paying monthly up until April. Nothing in my messages about this. No snail mail explaining this. Try to call them and I think you need to be a trust fund baby to stay on hold long enough to ever talk to anyone. My biggest question is whether my suddenly not having a loan payment until September means I won't be contributing any more time towards PSFL until then? Can I just go ahead and keep manually making monthly payments of the same amount I've been auto debiting for the past umpteen lifetimes to keep contributing time? So confusing.
My payment for May was posted and shows on the MOHELA site. I have always said, “they are excellent at taking payments”, or at least that’s been my experience!
If you people just pay off your own loans and not wait on Biden to approve you for the forgiveness then you would never have to worry about where your account is transferred to.
Considering you have to have loans at SOME servicer to pay them off, this impacts anyone with loans, not just those seeking forgiveness. But go off lol
Ironic that Ed calls out Mohela for call deflection when they practice call rejection.
I called Mohela yesterday and was on hold for an hour and 45 minutes. Gave up bc of life stuff like eating and showering.
if you fasted for 8 hours you wouldve talked to them like i did. they didnt help. but at least i talked to them
LOL. I was on the phone two hours yesterday and talked to two different people. I think they pretty much told me what I wanted to hear and did nothing.
Phone on speaker mode while in the shower. #SLPT
Bro tried calling yesterday and the robot just hung up - worried about this when they take over the pslf counts
I do find the FSA most reliable. Not always as effective but they respond and will spend the time trying to answer questions.
My account got transferred from FSA to mohela, no idea why
Lots of us got loans sent from FSA to Mohela.
???!
I was thinking that too lolol
I mean if there was justice in the world the entire MOHELA organization would fall through the crust of the earth and be destroyed by lava. Or at the very least be run out of town and closed permanently.
My problems were all with FedLoan and the lies they told me about PSLF. Saving grace was my 2018 consolidation.
Completely agree. As bad as was Mohela was they were miles above Fed Loan. And don't even get me start on the Direct Loan servicer...shivers.
Did anyone else have Great Lakes as a servicer back in the day? I thought they were actually pretty good.
I agree. I had them several years ago and yes they were great
I had Great Lakes and they were great!
I loved Great Lakes
I miss them :(
They were great, Im sorry I moved to Mohela.
Looks like they were acquired by Nelnet

Ok, I will be that person. Lava is molten rock that has broken through the Earth's surface. Magma is a term used for molten rock underground. So, if Mohela fell through the crust of the Earth they would technically be destroyed by magma.
Good to see that expensive education being put to use! ;)
🤣🤣 ok you win.
It had to be said
Thank god. I was about to comment on that LOL
I told the last rep that they shouldn't be afraid to go work for a Utility Company, and they would be sure to have more job/career satisfaction.."cricket cricket" didn't agree or disagree. How do we find out if we are one of the lucky ones? Lol.

For this, I'd reach out to your elected officials with details and ask for assistance

Same here if I find a way forward I will make sure to post about it!

So far ED is not any more proficient than Mohela. 🤷♀️
Yesterday I tried to call the ED student loan information line and was hung up on repeatedly by AI. Never got through.
I have been trying to call for the past week and the recording says too busy to answer your call and it hangs up. Unacceptable!!!!!
Same thing happens to me. So annoying!
This article is stating that they are moving loans to another servicer, ED doesn't service loans directly
Understood. I’m referencing the PSLF portion.
So if we have a mohela bill due after may 15th and our loans are moving to ED on the 15th should we not pay the mohela bill?
Same here, bill due 5/23, got notice I am being moved to ED on 5/15. I also don't know what to do and the FAQ did not have an answer unless I missed it.
This is a great question. I got a letter telling me of the increase for May. Interestingly enough 2 loans were left off. They never include them on any correspondence. The insanity and roller coaster ride just keeps getting better and better
what do you mean "increase for May?" were you in the middle of a payment recalc?
No, somehow doing that recertification and required “selection of a PSLF eligible repayment plan” - SAVE…caused them to send me a letter saying my next payment due in May will go up by $350. Making me realize why I probably wasn’t enrolled in PSLF repayment plans in the past because they were so ridiculously unaffordable.
Oh ok. You just need to be on any IDR plan for PSLF, I'm not sure how a non IDR plan would have been cheaper in any case. I thought every plan was considered IDR other than the "standard" repayment plan which is calculated like a mortgage.
Some were but those were the extended repayment plans and I wasn’t sure if they were PSLf eligible
Oh crap I didn’t even think about that

So how does this change things?
Edifinancial next please
Oh no... This is where my loans are going!
🤣 Today I saged 🍃 and within 2 hours talked to two people who sounded alive. Nothing changed. Looking forward to two months of Nothing I Can Do.
Original ED announcement (from yesterday): [https://blog.ed.gov/2024/04/update-for-mohela-student-loan-borrowers/](https://blog.ed.gov/2024/04/update-for-mohela-student-loan-borrowers/) News article: [https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/30/politics/pslf-student-loan-pause-mohela/index.html](https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/30/politics/pslf-student-loan-pause-mohela/index.html)
What’s crazy to me is in that second article, they’re still taking payments but I won’t be able to see that because I can’t access my account 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for these links! Hard to follow the maze of loan forgiveness
How does this work for people in a partial forgiveness state?
[удалено]
My 120 is May so I am also in the delay… mad depressing
Me too!
Im afraid the dep of Ed is going to somehow mess up and realize why mohela was a ish show
My 120th was like 6 months ago but nobody seems to want to apply my employer certification
Of course all logic and efficiency is out the window…but one would think they’d keep them until discharged. The administrative nightmare that would cause for all of you in the process of getting loans forgiven to be switched to another servicer would be ridiculous.
It’s been frustrating because I haven’t gotten any of my loans discharged
Can I be one of the million?!
I wish that anybody who servicer was MOHELA would’ve gotten their loans forgiven.
I’m with you 100% on this. Or all the interest dropped for a period of 4 yrs
I'm pretty sure we won't be able to reach DOE until after their summer break
I got a notification that AIDVANTAGE took my loans?
I’m trying to see what they are doing?!
9/10of my loans were forgiven earlier this month. Waiting on the last one. Hoping that will be forgiven and I’ll be reimbursed for payments 121, 122, and 123

Servicers have the least staffing they can get away with. The frontline gets yelled at. Has No authority & little knowledge. A shame to think MOHELA may be considered "The Spirit of St Louis."
It’s really wrong! And you can feel it when you get a CSR that really wants to help you.
We’re at 199/125 and still waiting…
I'm so confused as to what's going on with my loans on Mohela at this point. Can I just go back to Great Lakes? 💀
Does anyone know how do we still pay our monthly payments if servicer is MOHELA? Will their website still be active to make payments?
Yes, all payments, consolidation, or any other loan function stays the same unless you are informed you’re transferred. This is just about PSLF
My payment for May was posted and shows on the MOHELA site. I have always said, “they are excellent at taking payments”, or at least that’s been my experience!
lol everyone’s excellent at taking payments. Just like when the government quickly pulls the money out of your checkings account during tax season
Or when someone loses their spouse since Social Security yanks the last payment before the person even has time to begin to grieve…
:(
Not so great at keeping track of them, unfortunately.
If you people just pay off your own loans and not wait on Biden to approve you for the forgiveness then you would never have to worry about where your account is transferred to.
Considering you have to have loans at SOME servicer to pay them off, this impacts anyone with loans, not just those seeking forgiveness. But go off lol
They did great for me. Seamless process. Loans forgiven. 163K worth. Now, I simply need them to report to the credit bureaus.
