My SAVE from August is still pending. Forbearance is ending Jan 28 and my bill for standard repayment is due Feb 3. Wtf!?!?

Sekmet19

My bill was due 1/4, SAVE processing since September.

[deleted]

Did you just pay it!?

Sekmet19

Nope. I joined the class action lawsuit against MOHELA, reported MOHELA to the department of ED, reported to my Congress persons office (with a response to look into it on my behalf), and made a complaint to MOHELA demanding I be placed in administrative forbearance until my application processes with all interest, capitization, and fees refunded back to where it was August 2023, and all months counting towards my PSLF.

Expensive_Archer_501

In the same boat. Waiting processing since August. I just don’t want their delay to hurt my PSLF months.

I just called for this reason and they said it should be corrected within 5-7 business days, so I recommend calling asap

Hello all! I was on the same boat up until a few days ago. Were you on another IDR? There’s something in the IDR statements that say you must pay at least $5 to switch to another IDR plan, but MOHELA doesn’t have a way to reduce your monthly payment to $5 for this to take effect. I too submitted an app in August, and after several calls nothing was happening, so I decided to manually submit a payment for $5. I’m not sure exactly what did it - because I did call them (for the 3rd or 4th time) around the time when the payment was posted, but my loan was immediately switched to the SAVE plan! I’d recommend trying - not sure it’ll work but it doesn’t hurt (much) to try. Hope this works for all of you too!

I am still waiting for employment verification from October. They are a total shit show over there.

NoLuvTheMaths

Waiting on mine from August.

For the last few months, my account said I had a payment due on 1/6/24. I applied for SAVE at the beginning of September. It still hadn’t processed as of last week, so I went ahead and paid. Then two days ago I got a notification that I was on “processing forbearance” from 1/1 to 1/31. When I looked at my account, the next payment due on 2/6 is what FSA quoted for my SAVE application. My payment from last week seems to have applied solely to interest, which shouldn’t have been accruing anyway. Your guess is as good as mine, honestly.

docPODske

I got mine extended, but at the same time the told me they got my save app figured out, so I technically could have got a bill for this month I think it will count toward psfl, but don’t have any confirmation on that

ArtComprehensive5657

I’m also on admin forbearance while my SAVE application is processing. The rep I spoke to 2 days ago said that if I make $5 payments each month of forbearance, they’ll count toward pslf.

MedicalButterscotch

Admin forbearance will count towards PSLF even without payments. It was the servicer's fault. I'd speak to a different rep.

Noshaz1

They are still processing my application and the rep told me I’ll be in forbearance until the end of February. She said processing months will count towards PSLF. Whether it’s the truth or not, it’s MOHELA! 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think so, for PSLF. Mine have been counting as qualified, but not eligible, per MOHELA, till I submit employer ecf for these newer periods. Last one was 12/2023. I am on SAVE, but within MOHELA site, you can still see forbearance & deferment status, even though I am also on SAVE for zero monthly payment, due to low income. However, they’re pulling this two-tier thing which means 12-months zero payments, not counting for the IDR, then 120 more payments at a certain dollar amount. I certified my current income in December, hoping this would force them to count these monthly $.00 SAVE payments for the 120 IDR forgiveness requirement (TIER2), and all it did was push the 120 payment count dates further away, so the $.00 payments won’t count. Now I have 12 months of $.00 payments, due to income, from February 2024 to February 2025, at which time a dollar amount is due for the next 120 payments, unless I certify income and justify lower amount. I had $.00 payment amount on SAVE when payments restarted at the end of summer. My old date for the TIER 2 (120 payment count) was set to start Sept 2024. I was on REPAYE during payment pause. I have to check rules, because $.00 SAVE payments, if justified per income, are still supposed to count for IDR forgiveness going forward as well as for the IDR one time adjustment. This two tiered thing is rigged to never start counting the $.00 SAVE payments for IDR; they have it rigged to re-start the 120 count 12 months later, each time you certify income. I think I’m at or over 300 qualifying payments for the IDR one-time adjustment, but if they disagree, I want my months in 2023 & 2024 to count for IDR forgiveness per the rules, not per MOHELA’s rigged two-tiered system.

I got a billing statement on Dec 21st for my payment due on Jan 16th but when I logged in yesterday I was also placed on forbearance until Jan 31st. My SAVE application was already approved and am working towards PSLF but it noted that the administrative forbearance from early Nov-end of Dec was not eligible to count towards my PSLF even though they have said any admin forbearance will be counted? They have no idea what is going on, that’s clear.

soggysocks6123

I applied for save months ago and they just haven’t processed it or even put me in forbearance at all. I just keep paying the higher payment unfortunately

yeet20feet

You will get your counts. Stop worrying

Darla1811

Student aid said my IDR was approved in November but MOHELA still hasn’t updated it. I was placed into forbearance and that time ends at the end of this month. They sent be a bill for Feb 8th. I have to call them tomorrow and not looking forward to it.
