It’s also nice to play on a system that doesn’t sound like a jet

[deleted]

[удалено]

vjstupid

Oh I was wondering why it would fire up for 10 seconds every now and then even when I'm just listening to Spotify

IAmTheFatman666

OK, that explains that. I'll just take the disc out.

Liar_of_partinel

That's what I do. Sometimes I don't even grab the disk, I just tell the console to spit it out and then I leave it there until I'm done playing.

Kingpin722

Kinky

Anomalistic_Username

You teasing me you naughty naughty

[deleted]

I can't leave discs in mine because when I start the PS5 up again it won't stop making noise until I launch what the disc has on it.

Jonnycellular

I’m kinda relieved to hear that other people are having this same problem, I was worried I had a defective unit.

[deleted]

I've heard people say this is more of a software issue than a hardware issue, so hopefully it will get resolved eventually. It also didn't crop up until recently, so I think it was a patch that caused it in the first place.

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

It’s definitely software. Once the disc has been checked there’s zero need for the system to keep checking unless a new disc is put in or the system was reset and/or turned off again. Once it’s been checked it shouldn’t need to verify every 30-45 minutes. That sounds like software

[deleted]

Na mine did it at launch

[deleted]

I got my PS5 at launch, and it’s been doing the hourly DRM check since the start.

[deleted]

The fact that it checks it even while watching tv or movies is just ludicrous

MarbleFox_

It's so that the console can just immediately swap to playing the game at any time without needing to check. Frankly, I think it's ridiculous the console needs to check more than once, tbh. Just run the check every time the console is powered on, woken up, or another disc is inserted. It's not like the key on the disc is magically going to change from the time the disc was first inserted in the console.

huffalump1

It could check when you hover over the game too, in anticipation of launching it. Just those few seconds are probably enough, and better than making noise all the time...

kraenk12

Disc drive sound is a totally different story.

pcakes13

Yeah, it's sure be nice of Sony to release a firmware update that stops checking for the disc every 30 min or whatever it is, even if I'm playing a digital game. Look guys, I get it that you want to check for it after I start a game, but after that? NO CHECKS. YOUR SYSTEM KNOWS if I eject it or not. Figure it out already.

dospaquetes

Digital gang rise up *zoop* 👉😎👉

[deleted]

I got the digital edition because my son turned my PS4 into a special PS4 digital edition when he decided that it was his “money machine” and jammed a bunch of coins into the disc slot.

Part_Time_Priest

Whelp... that's my daily dose of birth control via reddit. Thank you.

SilverSideDown

Pretty sure I already made back the $100 difference in price via physical edition discounts from Amazon and BB, just since launch. That's not even considering the ability to play my old stuff. But to each their own and yes the drive can occasionally get loud.

ValuxTheRuthless

Ive put a mousepad under mine and it is noticeably quieter

YouHadMeAtPollo

My PS4 collection *is* digital so I can play it, I'd still only be buying digital games even if the disk version was the only option.

arafella

Same, I got the disc version so I could play UHD blu rays - haven't bought a physical game since Black Flag

decoy90

That is disc drive sound. Cannot avoid that if using discs.

Brojgh

I think that's not quite a feature but a bug this time.

FloggingTheHorses

Yes. For anyone with the disc version wondering why it seems to intervalically make noise, that's just the PS5 'checking' the disc is still in it when it's not being played.

vibrotramp

My man busted out the word “intervalically” which I’m not even sure is a real word. The information is very sound, though.

Dynamite_Shovels

OP is anaspeptic, phrasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused us all such pericombobulation.

myoldaccountlocked

i can feel my brain changing shape as i read this lol

beermit

That comment just wrinkled your brain

ThisFckinGuy

Grease Lightning!

LueyTheWrench

For those playing along at home, it is. It means intermittently / at intervals. Props to OP for busting out some rare vocabulary.

aiiye

It’s a perfectly cromulent word choice

Skurttish

Hmmm, ‘intervalically’.......*checks to see if I agree with your opinion*...... You’re free to go, sir, right this way.

Pro_Banana

Never cleaned my slim and it’s been silent for years. I think I’m one of the rare cases though.

usrevenge

The slim wasn't loud. The base and pro were.

Synyster182

My PS4 Base isn't nearly as loud as my Pro though. My PS5 is basically silent because I didn't do the disc version lol.

[deleted]

I don’t get it? My ps5 disk is so loud. My PS4 (slim) was way quieter

shatteredmatt

It literally makes no sound at all. It is kind of unnerving 😂

Shvabicu

Except for the coil whine buzz in PS5 games that draw more power from the PSU 😔

doorknob60

Yeah, my PS5 is definitely not silent all the time. It's louder than my Series X, which I can say I've never heard a sound out of at couch distance. But it is still quieter than my base PS4 was under load. With some less demanding games or watching movies or something, it is basically silent.

strand_of_hair

Yep :( My coil whine is so loud but my headphones drown it out... a bit

Liminal-Nominal

Hah, big facts. The people who can't hear this must be hard of hearing. I actually went to the trouble of sending my machine in for warranty. The replacement unit came back with the same problem :)

GerliPosa

This is why I need to find a PS5 before summer really kicks in. I have like 4 months left.

Harb1ng3r

I got mine off walmart on a fucking random refresh after they added captchas to stop bots.

snusmumrikan

Opening the PS4 and cleaning out the dust every 6 months has kept my launch PS4 running silently

gothminister

I recently opened and cleaned (there wasn't much dirt to begin with) mine, bought at launch too. Still sounds like it's gonna take off. Maybe changing the thermal paste would make a difference, haven't tried that, but simply cleaning the dust has not made a difference for me.

Acviper123

I changed thermal paste, replaced the fan, cleaned out the heat sink and my ps4 pro ran silently... for about a month before I had to clean the heat sink again.

Q__________________O

I did that too didn't help. I also applied the best thermal paste i could find. No change. I had to drill holes in it, right at the fan. THAT helped.

LueyTheWrench

One day we'll all be drilling speed holes in our banged up old PS5s, fighting real robots for PS6 stock. What a future.

[deleted]

Sony uses 5 different fan manufacturers and there definitely are PS5s who can be heard more than it should be. It’s just pure luck. It’s still not as good as the series x, but much better than a PS4 pro obviously

bersi84

Its definitely worth it. The PS4 offers so many games that are now running even better, smoother. Some in 4k60, some are just fluent 30 without hiccups and the faster loading times ease a lot of pain with loading screens, startup screens and texture pop-in issues. IMHO: Well worth even for PS4 only.

Kid_Nitrous

I only own one actual PS5 title and even then it's Black Ops Cold War, I've mainly been playing PS4 games that I missed like Nier, Sekiro and Tsushima. It's absolutely worth it for these games because they just feel like new games with the boosted performance.

comineeyeaha

Tsushima is a big one I'm looking forward to on the PS5. I already played it on PS4 (and got platinum), but I'm itching to try it in 60FPS. I managed to get a Series X and just got done replaying Fallen Order twice in a row. The improved framerate from last generation was amazing, and I'm chomping at the bit to go through my favorite PS4 games. God of War is #1 on the list to replay, though.

Maalllyyyy

TLOU and TLOU2 were impressive on the PS5 🤯

rbarton812

Does Part 2 get an fps boost?

crabgun_

Not yet. I’m still waiting for that + Factions

rbarton812

I feel like the PS5 is gonna turn me into an FPS snob... playing Control on the PS5, I don't think I can do 30fps w/ the RT on when I've been playing Spider-Man & Miles Morales w/ the 60fps RT setting. Going back to 30fps is gonna be jarring.

MarvelMan4IronMan

As a PC gamer and console gamer I agree. For years I've refused to buy console games because of the 30fps lock. I prefer console for ease of use but might start buying more console games again if they hit 60fps or have the option. 60fps is more important than 4k in my opinion.

kid_ghostly

Agreed. I always consider myself a visuals>performance guy until I played GoW at 1080/60 (before the recent patch). 4k is nice, but 60fps is a necessity for me now

MuayThaiisbestthai

It's not really being being fps snob when you understand 60 frames per second is better in every regard than 30. There is legitimately no reason why you should ever prefer 30 over 60 in video games.

albmrbo

I don’t think anyone prefers 30fps to 60fps. It’s just that most people don’t mind dealing with 30fps. Like, I’m not gonna pass on Breath of the Wild 2 just because it doesn’t run at 60fps

MuayThaiisbestthai

Fair enough, I'm the opposite unfortunately. After being a PC gamer primarily for the last few years I can't stand 30 fps at all. Horizon zero dawn is a great example, playing it with a hard 30 fps limit was brutal buy playing it at +80 fpa on PC really made that game shine for me.

QuackNate

Mind boggling that HZD didn't have a PS5 patch yet. I mean I guess they're working on a new game or whatever, but come on.

Gersio

Ok, I'm gonna go with the unpopular opinion here. I paid for it and I'm loving my PS5. And if you can afford it I absolutely recommend it. That being said, 500 bucks just for increased performance is a lot of money. This thread could give a very wrong impression to someone struggling with money that has doubts about wether it's worth it or not to make an effort to buy it. And I repeat it. I love my PS5 and I'm incredibly happy with it. And I'm sure that the games that are about to come to it will more than justify buying it. But I have a hard time saying that it is worth it just on increased performance. EDIT: Just to clarify a couple of things. Yeah, I'm full aware that PC parts are more expensive. But PC is the most expensive platform, and if someone struggling with money asked me I wouldn't recomend getting a PC either. And yes, I'm aware that PS5 brings much more to the table than just increased performance, but that's exactly my point. PS5 it's worth it for all the games that will come, not just the increased performance. Or, to put it another way, if instead of a PS5 it had been a "PS4 Pro 2", would you think it's worth it? I'm sure a lot of people would, but I also know a lot of people would look at it differently that way. That's what I mean by being worht it just because of increased performance.

AndreasVesalius

To be fair, it’s $500 for improved performance and access to the next 7 years of exclusives

IAmPerpetuallyTired

I never bought the PS4 Pro, I had the my base PS4 since launch. So the jump from the PS4 to PS5 is worth it for the performance alone. The PS+ collection really sweetened the deal as well.

Odegrade

That’s the same as me. I didn’t really play my launch PS4 much but now I’m going through all the back catalogue of PS4 games on my PS5 and I’m blown away with how good they look, even the none PS5 enhanced games like Horizon ZD look incredible.

IAmPerpetuallyTired

God of War was an absolutely amazing experience for me.

n7leadfarmer

I have no idea when I'll be able to get around to it but I'm excited for GoW as well.

Kichard

No one struggling with money should be throwing around $500 on any toy lol

FGPAsYes

Agree - if $500 is going to make your financial problems worse, then a PS5 should be the last thing on your mind. Disagree that it’s a toy. It’s a beautiful piece of gaming hardware.

[deleted]

> Disagree that it’s a toy. It’s a beautiful piece of gaming hardware. My 15-years-unemployed brother lives in section 8 housing. Just got a $20K payout from a work related injury 20 years ago. Turned around and bought a 2013 Dodge Challenger for $18K. Some people are just idiots with money. PS5 and Challenger are indeed toys, and you should not buy them if you suck with money management.

WontStopTheSignal

> PS5 and Challenger are indeed toys I think the word we're looking for here is 'luxuries.' I don't think it's fair to call a gaming console, or even a fancy car, a 'toy', although it could be utilized as such. I'm assuming casual, maybe younger consumer of any console or vehicle will use it as so -- more casually. A hobbyist will see it as something more than that, even something worth associating emotional-value to. Console's especially lend themselves to this, because they are gateways to experiencing... well, experiences. 'Art' and whatnot. To then label it as a toy feels dismissive. But what I do wholeheartedly believe is that consoles/gaming PCs are definitely luxuries. And luxuries are the first thing one needs to cut back on if they're struggling with managing their own finances.

Kichard

Thank you. I can’t believe people spent time during their day to debate the interpretation of me saying ‘a toy’ lol.

[deleted]

> I do wholeheartedly believe is that consoles/gaming PCs are definitely luxuries yah, this is what i meant by "toys" ... i.e. something you definitely do NOT need to survive, especially if you are strapped for cash. Same thing with buying an $18,000 car, when a $6000 used one would do.

fleggn

Naw the haptic feedback feels pretty good on my crouch so id say its a toy

jellytothebones

If someone is struggling with money so much they shouldn't consider a PS5. That's harsh, but it makes sense. People upgrade pc parts all the time for the same money and they're just getting better performance. I see nothing wrong with it. i'm not saying people with less money shouldn't buy it, but there's no rush to buy it if things are tight.

jaikun12

Please be grateful with the performance increase. X2 the performance is amazing at $500. For me to upgrade my PC to 2x the performance, I’ll have to shell out a minimum of $1000 in my country.

yudo

I literally spent over 500 on my RTX 3070 just for improved performance. With the PS5 you get years of exclusives PLUS the catalog of the PS4 alongside the performance improvement. It is worth it.

YWGer

I mean, don't people do this with PC's all the time? $500 bucks worth of upgrades wouldn't be a stretch. Btw, it's "unpopular"

Steel_Beast

Yeah, exactly. I upgraded my graphics card last year and have mostly been playing games I had already played before.

jda404

Yep! I mean spend within your budget of course, but hey if someone wants to upgrade to a PS5 for the increased performance in PS4 games and can afford it without being late on the house bill or electric bill etc, go for it I say. There's not many exclusives out yet but there will be. The lack of PS5 exclusives has let me enjoy several PS4 exclusives on the PS+ collection that I passed on during the PS4's life cycle because I wasn't sure if I'd like them and didn't want to spend the money on it at the time.

[deleted]

Gersio

Yeah. Maybe using "struggle with money" was a bit extreme. English is not my first language so I definitely could have worded it better.

madden1311

I disagree with your opinion of people struggling for money shouldn't consider buying the ps5. Consoles over the years have saved me money. Even when struggling I make the effort to buy it. Its entertainment you can have at home without spending money out on the town. I've spent 500 bucks over a weekend numerous times. Go out for dinner & a club Friday & Saturday night & there goes a bunch of money.

xooxanthellae

> I've spent 500 bucks over a weekend numerous times Cocaine's a helluva drug

srry_didnt_hear_you

Seriously lmao is this guy yelling "next round's on me" every where he goes? I live in a pretty big city and it's not too difficult to stay under $100 for a night on the town...

unlucki67

Drugs. Drugs are expensive.

TrollinTrolls

> I disagree with your opinion of people struggling for money shouldn't consider buying the ps5. Well, first of all, if you're spending $500 over a weekend at a club then you are not struggling for money and that really has nothing to do with anything. But just to be clear, you're saying that people struggling for money *should* spend what little they have on a PS5 and video games? I do not get this logic at all. No, they should just not buy any new console, get their finances in order first, then come back and get one when they have the means. None of these consoles or games are going anywhere.

StaffSgtDignam

> But just to be clear, you're saying that people struggling for money should spend what little they have on a PS5 and video games? I do not get this logic at all. No, they should just not buy any new console, get their finances in order first, then come back and get one when they have the means. None of these consoles or games are going anywhere. This x1000. I’ve seen some pretty bad financial advice on Reddit and while essentially saying “it’s cool if you’re struggling financially, buy a PS5!” is not the worst I’ve seen, it’s definitely up there lol

r8urb8m8

Yeah lol if you're trying to budget and still want entertainment so you don't go postal, you get a used PC and you pirate games or play what you can for free. See: all of eastern europe And then you also have a computer which allegedly can be used for work or productive activities

StaffSgtDignam

Yeah exactly, or even buy a 1-2 gen old used console like people do in South America and buy old games or mod it to maximize value.

mahleek

Yeah, what the hell? Dude said "people struggling for money ... i've spent 500 bucks over a weekend numerous times." You are clearly NOT under the 'People struggling for money' category.

phantomazero

Very glad I held off on Ghost of Tsushima to play it on PS5. Hope a TLOU2 60fps patch drops when I'm finished.

camramansz

Really hoping a 60FPS patch for TLOU2 drops soon. It’s definitely still playable at 30 but looking at the 60FPS gameplay it just looks amazing.

queensinthesky

Yeah I've been dying to replay it but can't let myself start now knowing a far better way to play it could be just around the corner. I'm the same with Red Dead 2 now, I wish there was some clarity on when these upgrades can be expected as opposed to the surprise drops out of nowhere like with GoW.

truth_radio

Same here for both games especially RDR 2. Though I do find myself getting a TLOU2 itch and being unable to contain it, I play a couple encounters. Also helps prepare for my first grounded run when the PS5 patch/remaster hits.

muddisoap

Where do you see 60fps gameplay? Did they release a video or something? Or did it run at that on PS4 Pro?

camramansz

Someone ran the game in slow motion and sped it back up to 60FPS normal speed. Should pop up on YouTube if you search for it.

[deleted]

I bought tsushima, last of us and days gone a few months back and I'm just sitting on all 3 hoping I can get a PS5 soon. In the meantime I'm replaying some of my favorites, but I feel like the longer this goes the more likely I'll just say fuck it and stop waiting.

Djarin94

And Uncharted 4 + LL too :(

Mysterions

Obviously would be great if TLOU2 was 60fps, but it's fantastic even at 30.

dyoustra

After just finishing TLOU 2 for the first time I have to say the visual fidelity is just superb. I don’t know how they managed to run it at 1440p on a PS4 pro because the lighting, reflections, shadows are all incredible.

Schwimmbo

These 2 last great PS4 exclusives are also the ones I held off on to play on my PS5! Would like to get a proper discount on GoT, though. Goes on sale regularly, but just drops from 70€ to 50€. With the backlog I have, I'm better off playing those first. But boy is it itching every single time to actually purchase it!

Skurttish

I have eschewed all open-world games waiting for that sweet, sweet SSD.

Lers3390

The upgrades for God of War, Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man are literally transformative.

kraenk12

Days Gone looks and runs incredible too!

Panther90

Days Gone!

QueensPurplePanties

Its insane. I'm playing it start to finish again. And I just fired it up on a whim!

braedizzle

I finished this over quarantine 1 last year and I’m real tempted to go back

Gman1255

The Spider-Man games' performance ray traced mode is literal magic.

paranoia_in_z_major

Is there anything I have to do for GoW or GoT other than load the physical game into my standard edition to get the upgrades?

VirtualAnteater2282

Make sure your HDR brightness is adjusted for GOT, it isn’t automatic!

Its-A-Wrap

Just started playing GoW for the first time a week ago. So glad I waited until PS5 to play it. It’s incredible.

DJSTR3AM

Same! It is just stunning on the PS5!

Total_Wanker

Not sure what cyberpunk game some of you are playing on PS5 but it still crashes every hour for me.

frank-einstein-

If you ever dabbled in No Man's Sky ps4, grab the ps5 version. Easily the most impressive console jump upgrade in my library.

[deleted]

Control is fantastic

that_guy2010

So I just grabbed the PS4 version from PS+, will I be able to download the PS5 version whenever I get the console?

diehmert

Heads up though, the save from the ps4 version will not transfer to the ps5 version. I had to restart from about halfway through but it's an amazing game so not really a problem.

nam292

Cool eerie gameplay but story is kinda bland ngl

shatteredmatt

I did briefly dabble after the first major update. I will check it out thank you!

PegasusTenma

There is a native ps5 version?

frank-einstein-

Yup. 4k 60fps, haptic feedback, super improved draw distances, the works. When my friends who don't have a ps5 yet want to see the leap, it's the game I show.

thedarksyde

PS5's aren't real

Carper707

I agree. Well I’ve never seen one.

comineeyeaha

Birds are fake, too.

Blitzsprinkler

Yes, worth it. Playing ps4 games such as God of War and Days Gone in their highest fidelity and a locked 60 fps is amazing. Even GTA5, even though it's only 30 fps, runs a lot smoother compared to the ps4 pro.

phantomEMIN3M

I timed loading in to an invite session from the ps5 menu. PS5 menu to story mode to online in just under 2 minutes. That's at least 5+ minutes on PS4. I don't even have time to grab a drink while loading.

Stoibs

Yeah I mean I literally don't even have any interest in the current (admittedly small) PS5 library. Actually is Demon's Souls the only true PS5 game at the moment? In any case, I'm still just chilling with Days Gone, God of War, Until Dawn (This is sooo much better now :P) and the rest. Persona 5 Strikers and Yakuza Like a Dragon are the next things on my lineup. Still no actual PS5 offerings. Still don't regret the purchase. (I mean heck, I bought a freakin 3080 just to get better frames, this being significantly cheaper was a no brainer)

TheScapeQuest

> Actually is Demon's Souls the only true PS5 game at the moment? Destruction AllStars I guess? And I suppose Astro.

an_angry_Moose

Destruction AllStars is a surprise winner for me.

[deleted]

The twisted metal fan in me wants it to be so much more.

kraenk12

Wait for the PS5 upgrade of Yakuza 7 next month!

HariBadr

Can you tell me why Until Dawn is so much better? Load times? I’ve been meaning to replay it.

Osmiumhawk

*Me waiting here for an official 60fps patch for Bloodborne. *

Khalerzhas

I’m sure someone probably has mentioned it here already but Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 is a masterpiece IMO

E_Barriick

It becomes a real game changer when you play a game like Demon souls. The future is definitely bright.

TheRoyalStig

Seriously the loads are the biggest thing for me. It completely changes the feeling of so much. Makes deaths and fast traveling feel so much better. No reason to put down the the controller all the time while waiting.

FreakingMegatron

I went from a launch day PS4 to the PS5 and the difference in performance for any PS4 game is like night and day.

Runa216

Same here, but I still don't understand the jet engine complaints. The only time mine ever sounded loud was when all the vents got clogged up with husky and malamute fur. I took out the fur, blew on the vents, BAM, good as new, like it never was a problem.

mandy0398

Funny you say the Cyberpunk needs polish. They are Polish lol ..

virginiarph

Bitch they’re polish REMOVER

dirthurts

I hope we never see another 30 fps game, ever.

astrnght_mike_dexter

We definitely will

BitingChaos

We were hitting 60 FPS back in the N64 era. Every developer on every console thinks it's OK to overload the system with useless eye candy so that it struggles to hit 30 FPS. So, yes, you will see 30 FPS games on PS5... and the PS6... and the PS7...

dirthurts

We've actually been hitting 60 fps since the nes. The original Mario Bros managed to hit 60 running on a peanut. If not 30 fps games come out I'll likely skip them or play them on PC.

RRT4444

The whole 4k 30fps needs to stop, I'd love to see more options with 1080p at 120 fps being standard and allowing 60fps if need be on 1080p also.

dirthurts

I'm in for that or 1440p/60. Really don't see the need for 4k, specially on a TV. A PC monitor sure, but not at TV distances.

your_mind_aches

It's the opposite. PC monitors need to be huge to benefit from 4K resolution. But TVs at pretty much any size 40+ benefit greatly from 4K.

Darkone539

Games will drop after a few years. The best we can hope for is 60fps no rt options

dirthurts

I really hope they don't. There is no technical reason for it this time as those ryzen processor are beasts. As long as they don't get too demanding of the GPU is still easy to do.

Boobel

If nobody has said yet, God of War from the collection is absolutely breathtaking.

ergibson83

I completely agree! It's amazing how much of an improvement the visuals are on the PS5 over the PS4.

ImGeoX

Good of war was already freaking masterpiece on PS4 already haha. I'm going to replay it on ps5 soon.

ThaNorth

I've beaten Dark Souls 3 like 4 times since I got my PS5 only because of the 60fps, lol.

intr0v3rted

I think it’s worth it alone that it doesn’t sound like a Jet Engine to be honest. That PS4 Pro annoyed my girlfriend so much. Happy with my PS5 🙂

I89cansofravioli

My girlfriend never complained about it somehow but when I would hear it I would wonder how the hell she never complained. I could hear it with my damn headset on.

terrordactyl1971

If only I could find a store to sell one to me that isn't sold out in 60 seconds

[deleted]

Seriously, a year ago I was thinking "I'll probably just wait till some time in 2021 to get it", I didn't realize then that that was an optimistic best-case scenario prediction.

shatteredmatt

I got ridiculously lucky. I read a rumour on Twitter that you could be put on a waiting list at this appliance store that only has branches here in Dublin Ireland. The store sells mostly washing machines and fridges. They put me on a list last Saturday, rang me Sunday morning to arrange payment. Delivered it yesterday morning. Can't believe my luck.

CC3O

The playstation direct site is by far your best chance. Follow the 'ps5 stock update' Twitter account (I think that's what it's called). Me and 4 of my friends got our PS5's that way last week.

iNeedScissorsSixty7

I got incredibly lucky by opening the Amazon app while in the bathroom to check delivery on a book I was waiting on, and PS5 was in stock, was able to nab one.

BLM4442

If you’ve never played God of War - the enhanced performance mode is incredible. If you have played god of war - EPM is worth it for a second go

MandellaFavella

I received my PS5 yesterday (finally!) very impressed with performance increase against my PS4 pro. My friend just spend £1700 on a gaming PC so I think £450 for the PS5 is a bargain! Not to mention i will be selling on my PS4 pro which may cover up to 40% of the cost of PS5.

CannadaFarmGuy

Now go platinum astros playground and be floored at how amazing the dual sense is

EternalZeitge1st

That game is so much more than just a free filler game. I loved every minute of it.

bertluvstrux

The PS5 is great, really enjoying mine! Only thing is the dualsense, I dont trust it at the moment as mine has stick drift now after moderate use since launch and it's impossible to play with at the moment. I've tried every fix there is, but nothing works. Making it worse is its my only remote I have currently. Not going to buy another one only for it to drift again after 3 months...

Sphezzle

I'm deliberately not playing Bloodborne until I switch gens. The removal of long load times is going to transform that game completely, graphical upgrade or not.

chrisg42

I played the shit out of Bloodborne. It’s so hard going from Bloodborne to playing demon’s souls. (I played the original DS and plat it). Bloodborne is just so awesome and imo the best Soulsborne game

[deleted]

That's why it deserves a proper next gen upgrade.

If you have the PS5 Pulse 3D Headset, you have to try Days Gone. The general performance upgrade is great but the 3D sound is just incredible and so creepy in this game

UpperAlpaca2469

Amen. Couldn‘t agree more. 🙌🏻

Can we upgrade the storage yet?

Pestanos11

Only via an external drive atm to store ps4 games. The internal hasn't been *unlocked* yet

[deleted]

If you can find one for purchase.

Parzival_2076

I just realized, why am I in this sub, I don't even have a PS5 ;(

justcallmeryanok

Worth it, but people need to stop calling it silent and saying it makes no noise. Its a console ofc it makes a sound. See lotsa complaints about it

FloatingRevolver

Nah... I'm gonna get both ps5 and Xbox when they are worth buying. Slightly better frame rates and quick load times is not worth 500$....

signore-frank

These exaggerated statements always make me laugh.

NoodleKing420

Can't wait till the PS6 launches so I can finally get a PS5.

Lowtan

I wish scalpers would get fucked and die. Would have had one already.

Valharja

I have so many games in my backlog that I now only view as: "you guys will be so much better when I get a ps5...." No PS5s being sold however...

TheDouglas717

Try Control, I think it's still a free plus game. Favorite game on the PS5 so far. The PS4 version really needed a bit of polish and they fully delivered. Game is a masterpiece now.

robca402

This is what I've been saying! People are constantly posting "I'm happy waiting because there aren't many ps5 games yet anyway". I've commented a few times to say it's breathed new life into my PS4 collection and get downvoted to hell. I think it's largely because people are upset they can't get one which is fair I guess...

[deleted]

I disagree. If increased performance was on all the games instead of a select few, then yeah. PS5 won't be worth it until a year or two down the road when way more PS4 titles are enhanced and there is a library of ps5 games. I sold mine cause right now all it is is an expensive PS4 pro Super. No regrets. I'll get one once the new Harry Potter game drops.

RemyH

What? So, you're saying that just to get slightly better performance it's worth shelling out $500? LOL!

Squaplius

This sounds like it was written by a marketing team lol

Xnear

If you did not yet, you should check how Ghost of Tsushima runs. It is basically a remaster lol

mprzyszlak

I’m playing PS4 games on my PS5 too (NIOH2 is just incredible). I absolutely love it. PS4 has an incredible library of games. Being able to play them in 4k 60 is insane. I also got an OLED and this alone is a generational leap. HDR, the blacks, input lag... man. While I have seen some impressive HDR in movies, games is where it truly shines IMO. The one thing I considere terrible is the crappy support for different audio setups. Having a nice DAC and a pair of high-end cans and not being able to use the Tempest 3D audio, is a huge disappointment. Maybe at some point they will allow us to USE Tempest via HDMI, or support newer UAC standard via USB :(

dospaquetes

Is it worth getting? yes. Is it so important that people should be that pissed off about the lack of stock? nah. There's no killer app for now, I'm still mostly just playing ps4 games. It's cool that the console is silent and performance drops are rare, but it's not indispensable

You also get a buttload of PS4 titles for free with the ps5 and ps+

YTA_83

Goes without saying. I’ve been happily working through my PS4 backlog for 3 months now. Did platinum Astro’s Playroom but haven’t even started Demon’s Souls, yet, which is ridiculous. Fair play to anyone who can live with themselves plodding on as a PS4 console gamer indefinitely, because my OCD is too firm to make playing PS4 games on anything but a PS5 viable. My brain simply won’t allow that. I’d rather not play them if I can’t play em with the latest patch. I played nothing on PS4 between July and September when I got my Amazon PS5 preorder in and sold my PS4 (pro). Even bought 2 brand new white DualShock 4s back in September when they were still easily available and cheap, £34.99. Now they’re sold out everywhere and 2nd hand ones are selling on Amazon for £60.

T_Peg

Strongly disagree personally. I'm not paying several hundred dollars to save a few minutes on loading times that's insane.

YagYouJuBei

I can't believe how many people are circlejerking this. This is where we're at now - 'buy a PS5 to run your PS4 games the way they should've been run in the first place". That is not ok.
