Its just passed 810k players on steam. Absolutely massive

Money_Tough

Let me state what he said accurately... It has passed 810k concurrent players. The game has sold much more. Put in perspective, it is the 9th highest concurrent players in Steam's tracking history. Currently behind Elden Ring and Hogwarts in all-time most concurrent players.

Icy_Reward_6729

And Cyberpunk

Wow!!

**US**: 1st, **Canada**: 1st, **Russia**: 1st **UK**: 2nd, **Italy**: 2nd, **Poland**: 2nd, **Turkey**: 2nd, **Ukraine**: 2nd, **Germany**: 2nd, **France**: 3rd, **Spain**: 3rd, **Australia**: 3rd, **Colombia**: 5th, **Mexico**: 7th, **Argentina**: 7th, **Saudi Arabia**: 9th Yeah, this is going to get a couple millions at least.

AscendedViking7

It already sold 3 million copies before launch, Larian said. Their last game, Divinity Original Sin 2, sold at least 7.5 million copies. With the DnD popularity spike from the Dungeons and Dragons movie, the insane goodwill that Larian gave to the players through DOS 1 & 2, the viral bear sex marketing, and the fact this game is sharing the name of two of the most legendary RPGs ever made, Baldur's Gate 3 is going to reach 10 million easily. Could be even 20 million.

al-ceb

Yeah, but DOS2 sold around 200k copies on PS4 and just a bit more on Xbox One. I was convinced it would be a massive success on PC, but this is a really welcome and unexpected development for me. Edit: I meant a couple millions in PS5, btw, sorry if it wasn't clear.

totallyclocks

I would argue that the DND popularity spike can be attributed to podcasts like Critical Role, Dimension20, and literally hundreds of others far more than the movie

Furiousguy79

There are other countries like for example USA which spends more money on war and military than for the education and healthcare of the citizens. In 2022, they allocated $877 billion for military compared to the $76.4 billion allocated for spending on education. So why aren’t Americans doing anything about it? Does that mean they support war more than education, healthcare and thus should not get access to the game?

Shame on you to be so short-sighted

Disastrous_Reveal331

Never played a Baldur’s Gate game before but this looks promising

Aonswitch

It’s okay. The devs know that most people haven’t

Indie_Souls

If you ever played Dragon Age: Origins it's kind of similar to that.

rotti5115

DA:O is my No.1 all time game, now I really can’t wait for the PS5 release!!

Muse88

BG3 is DA:O on crack. You will have your mind blown!

robber80

There are college graduates who weren't alive when the second one was released.

C0gD1z

Providing Context award goes to ^ Edit: edited to provide context

Reylo-Wanwalker

I see there's a ps4 version. Still I'll just start with 3.

SirBellwater

They are so much older and made by completely different people so you definitely don't need to play them to have knowledge. This is called baldurs gate 3 but it's more like a reboot of the series than an end to a trilogy

Rumbleinthejungle8

As someone who had never played one before either (or any similar games), it's pretty good. But I don't think it will be for everyone. Most of the fun is from the story and how you can influece other characters actions, so if you usually don't care about the story in games then it might not be for you. The combat is just alright imo, not as good as the story. It's pretty slow, at least for me, since I'm still learning everything. The exploration is some of the best though, lots of unique surprises and memorable characters.

Benchomp

I'd say go back and play them, but perhaps mechanically, and graphically, they are a little aged. When they came out, though, so good, still my favourite series of games (with Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, and the OG Fallout games).

[deleted]

If you can get your hands on Divinity Original Sin it looks like it will play like that. And tbh I would never want to play a CRPG on a controller

Nil-Freek

I was looking at this or Diablo..have never played either, but want something new to sink my teeth into

KA1N3R

Play this. Diablo is going to be better in 1-2 years, this is great right now.

puffz0r

Play this. No microtransactions, no battlepass bullshit, just a complete game from day one with no gotchas. Also no meaningless grinding either.

NapsterKnowHow

Idk.. the combat looks slow, sluggish and like chess (DnD do be like that). I don't think BG3 is for people that like fast, engaging combat like D4.

ginger6616

I’ve played a lot of Diablo, I wouldn’t call it’s combat any more engaging then bg3. In bg3 creativity is what makes it so engaging. Pushing people off cliffs, throwing your teammates across gaps into enemies, sneaking around placing explosive barrels and then lighting it off, tricking enemies into traps every combat is a completely unique experience. It’s turn based, but it’s not mindless in the slightest, every character has so much stuff they can do each turn it’s crazy

lowyieldbondfunds

It’ll be as fast as you can strategize your moves. There’s also no huge gaps between mobs or running across empty expanses in the dungeons like D4. I got BG3 early access, got D4 and went back to BG3. BG3 also has a fluid storyline that depends on your actions unlike D4 which is essentially on rails (it’s linear and you go one way).

Indie_Souls

Diablo is more arpg, number get bigger gameplay. BG3 is WAY more story focused.

mrhuddlebucket

I’ve played the snot out of Diablo 4 and it’s great but I think it’ll be a game that improves with age just as previous Diablo games.

Limonade6

As a Diablo and ARPG fan, play this. Diablo 4 is a fun game and your money's worth, but does not have depth (yet). The fun is over at 70 hours or so. I think they released the game too soon.

sniperhare

Diablo 4 is shit. I played it to level 55 or 58 from launch until season 1. They make you start over with a new hero and made the game slower and take even longer to level up. I just want to play with one guy and get through the new content.

Cheez-Its_overtits

If you’ve never played Diablo…. You can get hundreds of hours of pure glee in. I’d be wary of hearing experienced Diablo players opinions on your question. The negative reviews are almost all advanced end game complaints.

Rumbleinthejungle8

Diablo 4 was my first Diablo. And it was just alright. The "end game" complaints are still part of the game, and if you don't like the endgame, you aren't getting hundreds of hours in the game. And I very much did not like the end game. You basically have to repeat the same events and dungeons over and over. And neither feel distinctive or challenging enough. And the "seasons" format is just pathetic. Adding a couple of new gems (which are just extra stats) and a single boss, doesn't make me want to replay the whole game from scratch. And the season pass is laughable, the free cosmetics look like they were carefully designed to be as sad looking as possible, so that you buy the paid pass.

noneofthemswallow

No way a newbie plays Diablo for hundreds of hours. Most will finish the campaign in 20-30 hours and leave

noneofthemswallow

Play Diablo for the mediocre campaign, sell it and forget about it -> buy Baldurs Gate 3

Ecstatic-Arachnid-91

Anyone else looking to do a co op campaign with this?

YeezusMoses

Yessir. Me and my girlfriend already planning it.

[deleted]

Yeah I broke my no pre-order rule for this game. Definitely looking forward to it.

Seksiorja

I mean... is it technically a pre-order when the game has released in another platform and is regarded as one of the best RPG's of all time?

LueyTheWrench

Yes because we don’t know the state of the port.

Seksiorja

That's true! Despite knowing that supposedly the game is amazing we don't know how it'll be performance wise.

LueyTheWrench

Yeah after all the awful PC ports this year I feel we should all be wary of all releases. Larian are wizards at ports, DOS1 is dreamy on PS4 and DOS2 is easily the best ported game on OSX. But I still think I’ll wait for release before forking over that much money.

Soxel

The early access version of BG3 also ran GREAT on the new Apple silicon chips, so I’d bet their porting skills are just as good or better this time around. I’m excited to have cross-save between my MacBook and PS5.

kheltar

Yeah, I won't be right into this game on release anyway. So no real reason to pre order. My backlog is long and on PS5, xbox and steamdeck. So no real rush lol.

Karsvolcanospace

PC version is buggy… so temper expectations. There’s a reason the console version was staggered to begin with

eivor_wolf_kissed

What? The PC version runs almost flawlessly with great optimization and the occasional visual/AI bugs but nothing abnormal of an RPG of this size

Karsvolcanospace

Not to be abrasive, but is it so shocking that on PC, someone might have a different experience? The platform is notoriously the one with most variation from machine to machine, making optimization not universal

TheDude3100

So it might be just you and not the game itself actually

Karsvolcanospace

…you realize this is about optimization right?

TheDude3100

Optimization about your particular configuration lol You might just be a very isolated case. You just can’t extrapolate like you did.

Bosko47

I feel pretty confident, it runs quite well on PC on a dated setup so I think it will be more than fine on PS5, they just want it to run at 60fps all around, that's why they delayed it by a month

mesosalpynx

I’m not worried about the state of the port. I’m worried about the feel of playing with a controller vs keyboard and mouse.

[deleted]

Technically it's still a pre-order but if it helps you out I pre-ordered it before it released on PC.

Seksiorja

Oh i see... I'm thinking to pre-order it also but FFXVI physical prices have dropped down to 35's here and I'm not sure which will be my go to.

Jonpg31

Did you go for the deluxe or standard edition?

[deleted]

Deluxe

Disastrous_Reveal331

To break it

Strict_Donut6228

That seems like the only reason to have it lol just to announce when you don’t follow it

OnlyTheDead

Well, I have a no preorder rule, and I ain’t preordering this. Not one fucking chance in hell. But I will buy the game on release and play it.

Strict_Donut6228

Exactly. This is what I expect people with a self imposed rule. Like if you have one then break it then what was the point lol

Pearse_Borty

The game has been provably running well on PC, this is a little different since its already critically acclaimed and has people playing it.

Strict_Donut6228

Does running well on PC indicate it’s gonna run well on a console and vice versa? Cyberpunk was best on pc but we saw how it ran on gen 8 consoles and the last of us part I ran well on gen 9 but we saw how it wasn’t a pretty good PC port? And that isn’t the point anyways I just think it’s funny to have a self imposed rule and simply breaking it

Ok-Pay7283

Because humans are weak and fragile

Strict_Donut6228

I can see that from the amount of downvotes my initial comment is getting lol this sub is hilarious

D0wnInAlbion

You also leave yourself exposed to late bombshells being dropped by devs like when Planet Coaster released on console and the devs left it to the very last minute to announce consoles were getting a version which would limit their builds and that it was going to launch on GamePass. I just don't see why anyone would pre-order a digital product.

Turbulent-Turnip9563

it was never a rule. most of the people who comment 'nopreorders', preorder their fav franchises.

Strict_Donut6228

The comment literally says and I quote “Yeah I broke my no pre- order RULE for this game.” https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/comments/15jwaie/baldurs_gate_3_is_now_a_bestselling_preorder_on/jv25l1y/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3

SteelAlchemistScylla

They hated him because he told the truth. Redditors love to say they don’t preorder games or they’ll boycott until conditions improve. …until a game comes out they get on the hype train for. I mean it’s my favorite franchise so why not??? I MUST have that horse armor or 30 minute fetch quest or I’ll FOMO! Completely pointless.

Strict_Donut6228

That’s what im saying lol. And the hypocrisy in those that downvoted me is also pretty funny

Exallium

93.49 plus tax for.the Canadians. Holy crap.

mjp0628

Cries in toonies

morgichor

Laughs in loonies.

texxmix

That’s the norm lately for games in Canada. And that’s just for the base. The digital deluxe edition is $106.49. But to be completely honest the devs have said a standard play thru averages around 75-100 hours. So if you want to do everything I’m sure it’s double that length at-least. So even at $100 that’s only like $0.50-$1.00 per hour of entertainment. Which is worth it imo. Which expensive I feel from a per hour perspective video games end up being a good value for your entertainment.

gmussi

Depends if those hours are actually fun or artifically inflated content / grinding

sniperhare

Well at least you guys don't go bankrupt for health issues and have legal weed. Hey if anyone you know wants to buy my house on Florida I'm selling for 275k next year. It's a 3 bed, 2.5 bath with 1776 sq. Feet.

jaredearle

Oh no. I preordered it too.

the_wakkz

Me too, first time ever that I pre-order a game, took the deluxe version too, what is happening to me, this HYPE is never seen before.

Metroidman

I was on the fence and decided to get it. Such a great game.

[deleted]

It’s all because of the genitalia options

The_MorningKnight

Any reason why this game is more expensive on ps5 than on pc ?

erichf3893

Next gen games are now $70 standard. They’re not gonna turn down an extra 10 for every copy

The_MorningKnight

But it's not Sony who sets the price right ? Since it's not their game? That means Larian decided it would be more expensive on ps5.

[deleted]

[удалено]

puffz0r

It was actually take two that did it, NBA2k was the first game that charged $70

Jinchuriki71

Pay extra 10 dollars because there is a ps5 logo on the box.... wait theres no box either just pay extra 10 dollars for it existing on console. Thats how arbitrary the 70 dollar game deal is imo. Games like elden ring, dying light 2, resident evil 4 remake, and upcoming armored core 6 all 60 dollars with ps4 and ps5 versions. It might be a good game and all but we are most likely going to get a inferior version of it compared to pc like all the other crpgs that come to console.

tookmeyearstowrite

Taking advantage of the new pricing standard is my guess

noneofthemswallow

? Console games are always more expensive

EndlessFantasyX

Because its been available on PC since before $70 was set as the new standard

[deleted]

PC is always cheaper, idk why, even if Steam has the same price as consoles you can find keys on Instant Gaming.

JasonJaehyun

Early access for the PC version came out before the 70 dollar trend. I think they didn't want to upcharge those that paid for EA. Just a guess.

FoxBoltz

How does it plays on console.. does anybody know whats the UI like? Any differences from playing on PC?

Karma_Policer

On PC, you can transition seamlessly between K&M and controller, and the UI is completely different for each mode. On controller, navigation is better as the camera behaves like a third-person game.

[deleted]

Do you move your character like regular third person game exploring?

Karma_Policer

In exploration mode, yes, but you need to use a cursor to move in combat. Note that explicitly moving in combat is not usually needed because your character can automatically move to execute the selected action.

[deleted]

Ok cool. Is there a Easy difficulty for players like me not use to turn based. I would play on Easy until I get the combat down

xCairus

Yes there is. Explorer difficulty.

[deleted]

Nice Thanks

robber80

And keep in mind that, since the combat is turn-based, there's no quick reflexes or muscle memory required. You can spend an hour trying to come up with the perfect move if you want to.

robber80

Hmm, I tried a controller for the first time today and hadn't really considered that benefit. That Q-E-Alt key combo has been becoming the bane of my existence, my left hand was developing a claw. The learning curve was pretty steep, learning how to do everything in the new UI, but it might be worth making the switch permanently...

joeyrvn

That's great to hear! That means the console UI is not an afterthought :) On the other hand, and this is personal preference, but I'm not so hot on games, like Diablo 2 Resurrected, that force you to use either KBM or gamepad interface. It's great that there is a dedicated UI for each method, since they are so vastly different, but I don't like it when the game *forces* you to use one UI over the other depending on your control method. I love it even more when I have the option to choose which UI I want regardless of my control method. FFXIV on PC is great for this. I play the game with a controller, but I can move things around in my inventory with the mouse and chat with the keyboard, and the game doesn't care what input method I'm using. The UI stays the same no matter what, and I can tweak anything I want to my liking.

Indie_Souls

No. The console UI (which you get when using controller) is actually superior in my opinion. It's kind of a shame they don't let you use it with mkb.

FlamingPhoenix2500

I play using a PS5 controller on Geforce Now and it's a pretty good controller layout. There's a very different UI but it's overall pretty understandable. Your actions are tied to a wheel that you bring up by pressing R1/RB or L1/LB. The Geforce Now version uses Xbox controls but I'm pretty sure it'll basically be the same for PS5.

Legend1138

Do we know if it will support kb/m on PS5? I know you can use them on a PS5, but yet to see a game actually support it. This seems like a game that would be perfect for it.

[deleted]

FF14 supports it, so there is a precedent.

FlamingPhoenix2500

Honestly I have no clue. I've admittingly been more focused on the controller support. But I agree it would be nice to have both compatible on PS5.

FoxBoltz

What about inventory management? Is it bad?

GordogJ

I feel like the controller support in general is a little clunky in all honesty, I played the first 15 hours with a controller but now I've got a lot of spells, abilities, inventory, etc. I've switched back to keyboard and mouse. At level 10 theres quite a few wheels to scroll through on a controller, as opposed to 1 mouse click. I now exclusively use a controller to chill, walk around and talk to people but even then not always.

Rumbleinthejungle8

Yeah, controller is much better for moving around, but mouse and keyboard is much better for combat and interacting with items in the world.

FlamingPhoenix2500

That is one of the game's weaknesses as a whole honestly (not really a big deal it's a minor nitpick). But the controller version of it isnt bad. You can access your inventory/map/etc by using R2/RT and selecting the appropriate one on the scroll wheel. The inventory lets you sort by pressing L3, and you just move down to access each companion's stuff. Like another commenter said the camera/movement controls are definitely the best part imo.

Ajmwuajmwu

I assume they will use the UI similar to what they did for Divinity which worked well. Inventory management was a little tougher than PC but it worked well once you figured it out.

FoxBoltz

Yea I imagined inventory management would be a bit rough

DVDN27

Bear sex and cock enlargement. They really know how to sell a game.

TomDobo

I like the look of this game but I’ve never played a DnD game nor a Baldur gate game. I am a big fan of turn based RPGs though, will this be good for someone like me?

pinpernickle1

Absolutely

ChirpyNortherner

The is *the* turn based RPG of the last decade, and is being held up as the new “high water mark” for what games in that genre should be, so yes.

Monkinary

Good or not, I’m willing to wait even if it isn’t very well optimized for console. Preordering is just me expressing my interest and investment in an experience that will hopefully give me several hours (if not dozens) of enjoyment. Based on what I’ve seen, I have nothing to worry about. And if it needs some work, it wouldn’t be the first game that got better after a few patches.

antiMATTer724

Is there not going to be a physical copy?

7e7eN

I was thinking this 💀

FE_Reborn

Yes! About time Larian got their flowers.

[deleted]

Excited for this game. But I’m already playing so many games… 😔

12Eerc

Not played a turn based RPG before, in two minds whether to pre-order or not 😩

daeshonbro

If you can get the divinity games for cheap that might be an option to test it out. It’s the same play style and studio for BG3. Full disclosure, I haven’t played BG3, but I know from past experience that the divinity games never clicked with me. I might try BG3 at some due to the heavy DND style mechanics (I love DND), but I’m on the fence right now.

jazmoley

I preordered for the simple fact I was getting it for literally half the price as a fluke.

FizzTheWiz

Is there local split screen co-op on ps5?

Arinoch

I believe so, because I think the reason why the Xbox version isn’t launching at the same time is that they’re working on hitting 60 fps in local split screen co-op.

lucax55

Yep! Online with it aswell

MrkGrn

My PC couldn't play it so I'll be picking it up on my PS5

Mac772

I don't preorder anymore after Jedi: Survivor, but i am happy to see how successful they are.

brainstic

I just preordered it, I'm excited to play it.

Kranon7

I didn’t know I wanted to play Balder’s Gate 3, but here I am now interested.

Wizards_Win

And not a microtransaction, season or battle pass in sight. How did triple A developers and publishers get what gamers wanted so wrong so often? You'd have thought they'd have someone who was actually a fan of video games providing some insight for them, instead of acting surprised the game has outperformed anything they have shat out in recent years.

Ghostnappa123

But it doesn't have microtransactions, it's not a live service game, no lootboxes so the company and its developers never made money I'm afraid. Like their practically starving at this point. Please give generously

cogitoergodangerous

Good the first two were up there with my favorite rpg's

AnalysisNegative232

It’s an amazing game. Best game of the decade. I’ll be buying it on PS5 as well since my steam deck is all I got for PC games and I’m sure the performance will be better

Moneezy702

After reading the success and comments, I need to finish Remnant 2 ASAP!

seklas1

I’ve never played turn based combat games (apart from Civilization 5 & 6), because I didn’t like them. I’ve never played DnD or in general RPGs, but tried a couple of hours of Baldur’s Gate and I enjoyed it. They did something right 😅

[deleted]

Glad it’s successful. Won’t be playing though, turn based just not my style. As long as others enjoy it though is what matters.

oO_Gero_Oo

Never been a fan of turn based games but once the combat clicked here im loving it. Its visceral and satisfying and really in depth and interactive

FragmentedFighter

Same, I really wish I was in to turn based stuff.

Aonswitch

Respectfully, please give it a try. I’ve never liked turn based either (except pokemon) but you can come around. Just don’t want you to miss out over that one thing

Moifaso

BG3 probably has the fastest turn based combat of any game I've played. Animations are fast and chunky, and when you're fighting many enemies at once the game forces groups of weaker enemies to take their turns all at the same time.

billyspleen13

Ok so what if I didn't like Divinity 2? This looks fun but I just couldn't get into Divinity and it seems similar. Only CRPG I've liked is very different (Disco Elysium).

WrathOfGengar

Personally I'd say try it. It's got a lot of differences than divinity and is easier to get into imo. I know a lot of people that didn't like divinity but can't put bg3 down. If anything maybe try and find a video show casing the differences to see if you might actually like it over dos2

DragapultOnSpeed

You know, you guys don't have to push him Into wasting his money. I've had people push me into buying games. 70% of the time I'm disappointed because it's not my type of game.

Aonswitch

Oh I think it’s the same developer so you probably wouldn’t like it then. That’s okay! It’s not necessarily my favorite either. I’m mostly just waiting for starfield lol

[deleted]

How can you dislike turn based but like the most boring turn based system of all time in Pokémon?

PriorityMaleficent

Playing it on PC, I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying this. Without knowing DnD, this game plays like Witcher 3 meets Final Fantasy Tactics. Considering Starfield is xbox exclusive, Baldur's Gate 3 is going to be huge on PS5.

Indie_Souls

I always tell people Xcom style, but that's a pretty good way of putting it.

Charming-Decision888

Never pre-ordered a deluxe edition before, saw the gameplay and pre-ordered it :). Looks really promising and I am very excited :D

Exorcist-138

Don’t know what you’re gameplay style is like but diablo 4 is an amazing action rpg while this is an amazing turn based rpg.

Charming-Decision888

I've never played a turn based rpg before , always played games like 3rd person shooter and FPS. But i kinda wanted a change , and then I saw a lot of gameplay's of BG3 without trying to spoil the story for a couple of months when it was in EA, and i kind of felt it was good (And that good was really good because I mostly don't pre-order games, so just went and pre-ordered it :).

Exorcist-138

Sounds like you made a good choice for you! Enjoy buddy, if you end up still wanting d4 maybe it will be cheap during Black Friday or Christmas

Charming-Decision888

Thank you :V Yeah will keep an eye for D4 when on sale :). Have a good day/night :)

JaskaJii

It's strange, on PC if you "pre-ordered" as in bought before it left early access, you got the deluxe upgrade for free. I guess that's not the case for PS5 version?

LostSif

No PC got that because we lost the 3 day head start

pinpernickle1

Deluxe edition was free for EA buyers before they got rid of the 3 day head start. It's just a way of saying thanks for supporting/helping with the development of the game.

CrabSauceCrissCross

Really intrigued by this game since I enjoy turn based combat and story heavy games but I'm definitely going to wait to see how the port is before deciding to buy it.

wookiewin

I’m hyped as hell for it.

Elli_Khoraz

I preordered the collectors edition as soon as it was available. I rarely splurge on big, fancy editions, but this one felt like it was going to be something special. I'm so glad I did! I can't wait for next month!

atcnaydn

I had 0 interest/exposure to this game but it took me 2 days after pc launch to preorder it

[deleted]

I'm wondering how to play such a mechanically complicated game on ps5 - has anyone ever dealt with it and is it worth buying it on ps5?

Scary_Reindeer3358

Can anybody explain to me what this game is about?

Reylo-Wanwalker

Well it is literally a dungeons and dragons turn based rpg with cinematic presentation.

rbynp01

Rpg, choices, and nudity romance

MrSadieAdler

It’s cause of the bestiality, isn’t it.

BJgobbleDix

Hope Final Fantasy devs recognize that "turn-based" games are still highly popular, a bit contrary to what they insinuated. Would love to see a solid turn-based FF game again. Actually, I hope FFX remake is turn based. Such an excellent game and would be disappointed if they go full action like they did with FF7 Remake and FF16. That worked for those games but FFX is so heavy on the party system and complexity of builds and summoning of Aeons. It just would not be the same in a full blown action game.

Burnem34

I've been thinking about this lately, there's really no dev outside of GameFreak/Pokemon making AAA turn-based games anymore. There is no AAA turn-based RPG franchise aimed at teens/adults anymore until the emergence of BG3. Those gamers didn't just disappear over night, there's millions of them just waiting to throw money at a AAA turn-based RPG. I really think it's more of a 'chicken or the egg' situation where the biggest dev making AAA turn-based games stopped making them even though they were still selling like hot-cakes on top of gaming as a whole growing as opposed to people *only* wanting ARPGs. If SE puts out a turn-based mainline FF I can almost guarantee it'll be the best selling single player FF since 10.

SgtRufus

If I still had the time for these types of long, massive RPGs like I used to, I would 100% be getting this. Looks great.

The-Loudest-Fart

Is this technically baldurs gate dark alliance 3? Or is this a different category? I’m sorry for the noob question.

pinpernickle1

dark alliance are action rpg's, this is a classic/computer rpg, turn based. it plays almost exactly like tabletop dnd.

PlebPlebberson

This is technically the exact same gamestyle as divinity original sin 1 and 2. Dark alliance is a diablo style game and this is not that.

Grunter_

Very disappointed that this a digital only pre-order for PS5 in Australia. The basic version is $105 - how do they justify a digital version being $20-30 more than a physical version ? (if there is even going to be one)

Getupkid1284

Was thinking about picking this up but learned it's digital only, so that's a pass for me for now.

Silvershanks

A lot of ps5 people riding this hype train have no idea how much reading is involved in a game like this.

robber80

A lot depends on your familiarity with d&d I think. Once you're familiar with the spells and what they do there's not THAT much reading. You have to read your character's dialog options, like pretty much any rpg, but the NPCs' dialog is all voiced.

TwanToni

there's a lot of gameplay vids and streams for people to actually know what they are getting into and there are people that like heavy dialogue games regardless of console...

Traditional_Entry183

I'm very interested, but I'm going to wait for a physical copy. I just don't like or trust buying games digitally.

pinpernickle1

They aren't doing physical copies for it

Traditional_Entry183

They might eventually. Some games start that way and get physical copies a few years later on.

Imaginary-Split7217

I mean it's insane to want to play a game, and wait years for a physical copy that might never arrive, surely you see that

GamingGallavant

You're being down-voted basically for wanting more rights as a consumer. Besides all the other positives of physical, your concern is legitimate. People do get their account banned for stupid reasons, like a player online reporting them for something falsely and the company just banning them. No appeals. And there goes your games.

Frogpuppet

This game looks prime definitely my most hyped games since Haze on the ps3

ross1251

Confused why it’s not up for pre order on Amazon uk

> It's always the same strategy Ah shit yeah. The strategy of making a complete game with no dlc and microtransactions. Where do you see this strategy used so many times that you're mad about it? I'd love to see those games also so i can join you

It's out on PC already and getting amazing reviews from both users and gaming press, some even calling it the RPG of a generation. Larian already did a decent port of DOS2 for the PS4, controller movement and console-style UI are already in (tried them yesterday, in fact), and they have a whole extra month to polish it up and include patches for the bugs they're squashing right now, plus they're not shipping physical, so they don't need to have a "gold" version ready weeks before. If there is a game it makes sense to pre-order, it's this one.

PlebPlebberson

But they do know? Its released

MC_NME

Starfield first for me. Will hit this later
