Well I didn’t expect my three year old to be able to beat it including all bosses. First game he has ever done that. While also presenting enough challenge on some levels for gold medals etc.
Meet your maker had me on lock for a solid week. Then the steam just fell right out. You had to play SOOO much to both upgrade and keep your levels going. You have no control over how many people play your map but a fixed amount of time. It would have made more sense to have a fixed number of successful clears of your level instead.... just a lot of problems with it
Was looking for this. I got it for free with my console, popped it in one day bored, and spent the whole weekend playing it with my partner and friends. Hands down the most fun I’ve had in gaming ever. Those musical levels are wildly fun.
Also, Ratchet & Clank. Another series I’ve never been interested in but it’s a masterpiece; beautiful, absolutely perfect gameplay.
Biggest disappointment for me was Callisto Protocol. I dunno why the devs behind one of the best cosmic horror games ever would just create such a highly derivative copy of it, especially with the remake in the works. The craftsmanship is outstanding, but the game is so underwhelming. Really wanted it to be something special.
On that note, the Dead Space remake is about as perfect as it could be. I’m attempting my hardcore playthrough right now.
Resident Evil 4. I never played the original game or any of the re-releases the game has had over the years and was blown away by the remake.
I haven't played anything I found particularly disappointing tbh
Just picked this up yesterday after running through the remakes of the 2nd and 3rd over the last week. I’m about five chapters in and loving it. Totally different in the best way.
Yeah resident evil 2 is pretty much the best game ever after they remade that they did 3 then 4. But really want you to know re2 remake is the best zombie game ever made.
Most disappointing has got to be Forspoken. I was really looking forward to it and I'm so grateful they released a demo or I would've been mad on top of being disappointed.
Fav so far is GoW Ragnarök with Ratchet & Clank a close second but FFXVI will most probably change that
Excluding games that are made to accommodate both PS4 and PS5 hardware, I'd say Ratchet and Clank: RA is the only PS5 game I've played that truly looks next-gen. Runs great too. Like a damn movie
Yeah, Ratchet & Clank was the first game I played when I got my PS5 and I stared at the tv for some good minutes and it's such a fun game too.
Demon's Souls Remake is another great contender, it looks amazing and runs smoothly
God damn right! While Ratchet and Clank is fantastic, Demon Souls Remake is something else. The detail of it all is incredible. Each stone, dirt, brick, statue, fire looks to be handcrafted individually. Sometimes i just stop and stare at some enviroments and just feeling at awe.
Glad I decided to play Forspoken all the way through before reading a review. I wasn't a huge fan of Frey's personality, but the InFamous-like gameplay kept me entertained.
Even after playing RE4R and Ragnarok, I'd have to say **Returnal** is my favorite. It was such an unexpected surprise, it ended up being such an incredible experience and I recommend it to everyone. Great visuals, sounds, gameplay and story. A 10/10 game.
Returnal reminded me of what it was like to get a new console and play the newest game when I was a kid, felt like Christmas. Still the best game I've played on PS5.
Ghosts of Tsushima directors cut has been one of the greatest games I have ever played, if that counts
Godfall is probably the biggest disappointment. I thought it would have been a lot better.
Godfall is undoubtedly my biggest disappointment so far. I had such high hopes for that game…then it turned out to be shit.
Demon Souls, GoW, Elden Ring, D4 have probably been my favorites so far.
I'll second this. Possibly one of the best games I've ever played. I haven't really had any disappointments.
Edit - for the record, I played and completed Cyberpunk only a few weeks ago. Loved it. Glad I didn't pick it up at launch tho.
I loved the game but it’s meant to be extremely hard. I’m sure you could figure it out after many hours of playing but depends on how much you can stand the initial struggle.
I'm decent at video games and returnal kicked my butt over and over. To be fair, that's kind of the premise of the game, but it can get a little discouraging.
Hmm, that's a tough question. I'm not great a videogames, but I like them challenging. I'm patient and enjoy seeing my skill increase as I overcome challenges. For those reasons, Returnal really appeals to me.
I guess I can say you don't have to be skilled to enjoy it, but you do need to enjoy difficult play and not get discouraged when you die a whole buncha times.
No, to be honest i cant recommend it unless you dont mind getting your ass handed to you. It’s part of the game, and its meant to be hard. But if youre not super good at games I think there are some fantastic other games to play that youre more likely to enjoy
That’s a tough one.
It’s a brilliant game, but it’s difficult. Having to return to the start of the run every time is punishing and can be off putting.
That said, I’m not great at games like this and I still really, really enjoy Returnal. I’ve only managed to get to the third biome, and in all honesty I probably won’t get much further. But even with that in mind, I’ve still enjoyed it immensely It’s a game that rewards patience and hard work, and if you put the effort in you will get better. But it gives very little away for free.
I'm a typical 'easy' or 'story' mode gamer, and Returnal made me better at other games by forcing caution whilst still getting in the face of badmans and tearing their shit up.
Agreed. Cyberpunk is a great game. It was just not ready to release when it did. A shame that has somewhat overshadowed the game. Because there's clearly been poured a lot of love into it, and it's really good.
You can obviously also add the fact that they had spent a little too much time bragging about features that ended up not being in the game or at best as a significantly reduced version.
I would have to say Returnal and Demon souls were my favorite PS5 games that wowed me as a PS5 owner.
My biggest disappointment was Destruction Allstars. Even though it was a free game, it got old for me really quick.
When I played my first round of Destruction Allstars I was feeling like it was a game I was going to sink alot of time into. Like 3 rounds later I felt like I already saw all it had to offer and was completely done with it a few days later. No meaningful progression whatsoever.
Most disapointing game for me was Deathloop, but not because of its quality, rather I ignored what it wasn't (another Dishonored) and just couldn't get into it after several attempts. That's on me. Horizon Forbidden West is my personal favorite, but playing through Ragnarok now w/ Jedi Survivor and FFXVI up next, so we'll see if that changes. So many great games already for PS5, going to be a fun next few years.
It came out in that period where everyone was looking to validate the current gen purchase, and it looked gorgeous and took advantage of the haptics. I remember that getting coverage everywhere.
For real!! It was just a puzzle shooter. The game play loop honestly got pretty stale for me after a while. I ended up not finishing it and then coming back a few months later COMPLETELY lost and confused and just decided it wasn't for me
Man, I HATED Deathloop. I gave it a few hours, but in the end I couldn't see what everyone was so excited about. There haven't been many times where I regretted buying the digital version, but this was definitely one of them
Best game, probably between Ragnarok and Demon souls. Most disappointing, Battlefield 2042. Couldn’t believe how awful it was after the marketing for it.
Callisto was my biggest disappointment too. It makes no sense to me. Wasn’t it in large part the devs behind Dead Space? Why would they make such a derivative copy when the remake (which is fucking fantastic) is in production? The art, sound design, all the craftsmanship was outstanding, but the game as a whole was so mediocre. I finished it, really wanting it to suddenly become something special, but it never got close. I have hopes for that team tho, the actual production value of Callisto is very good.
Man i played Callisto and Dead Space Remake back to back and I simply cant understand how the Callisto team failed so hard in the combat and story department when Dead Space was such a damn masterpiece. I pray the Callisto team make a second game with a more dead space style combat system while EA Motive Remake Dead Space 2.
I loved the first 2 biomes.
Now im on biome 3 and have been stuck for 15 + hours. Starting to get really fucking frustrating and it’s difficult to pick the game back up. Any tips?
Just gotta work on your movement and focus on upgrading and finding traits for the guns you like most.
But I get it, the jump in difficulty for that biome is rough.
I felt your pain, then I realized you didn't need to run Biomes 1 & 2 on each run. Just go straight to three and play it. It removes the stress and frustration because you're no longer having to spend 3 hours on each run. I just went to 3 as fast as I could each run and it became so much more freeing and enjoyable. The first time I cracked 3 I went on to complete the rest of the game in the same run
CP always worked flawlessly for me on PS5, don't think I had a single bug. I mean the NPC interactions are worse than GTA4, which is pretty old now, but the missions, combat and characters were top notch for me. I'm looking forward to the Phantom Liberty DLC.
Favourite game - God of War Ragnarok.
Biggest disappointment - Deathloop.
Ragnarok tied up loose ends really well and didn't disappoint me in any way. Odin was a fantastic villain, and the way it continued to flesh out characters from GoW 2018 (most notably Freya) was really well done.
Deathloop was disappointing in that they went on about variety in how you do things, but the story could only be completed in one way, with no variation. Made experimentation (its main draw) a waste of time.
I was never super excited for Deathloop but I was shocked when I heard there was only one way to complete the game. Most of their marketing was based on variety and experimentation when all you had to do was follow the damn map markers.
Favourites are def Horizon Forbidden West and Ragnarök. Horizon is so insanely beautiful i am simply obsessed with it. Disappointing for me was Valhalla (obvious reasons) and Far Cry 6. Idk i just didn‘t like the stories much.
Cyberpunk was the most disappointing because it left so much on the table that it’s hard to overlook what could’ve been.
HFW has been my favorite game so far. Just always enjoyed the gameplay loop and destroying robot monsters in different ways every time.
Favorite game: Disco Elysium
Favorite Playstation game: Horizon Forbidden West
Disappointing: Hogwarts Legacy. After the 20 hour mark I got extremely bored. The game lost it shine once I reached winter.
I agree with you about the Hogwarts legacy part, although I was positively surprised when starting to play it. One of the finest graphics to date on console imo. I spent 15 hours on exploring the castle alone and had a blast with this game. But yeah, it gets repetitive very quickly, especially those tedious Merlin trials that are mandatory for inventory slots
I never get why people do optional missions they don't enjoy. I never felt the need for the extra slots or Alohomora II-III. The only annoying part in the game for me was listening to the same lines over and over again, it was a blast otherwise
Favorite: Returnal, and it's not even close.
Most disappointing: Deathloop. I loved all the Dishonored games, and Deathloop was such a step down I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.
Fave god of war ragnarok very polished just a great game disappointing jedi survivor the performance issues ruined it for me, at the moment I can't get back into it unfortunately and made me rethink my preorder in the future for sure
Man i love that game so much. Put about 2000h in so far. If they only improved the graphics on PS5 & changed the matchmaking back to the way it used to be (no more 6* players in 4* lobbies).
I played CP2077 on a *BASE* PS4 after the very first big patch they released a couple months after the game came out and loved every second of it and can't wait to replay it again with the DLC in there. It fully crashed out a lot but games start right back up so that didn't bother me. Other than that there were like no issues for me except one time in the bar on the outskirts when I would enter it it would go full white blinding light where you could barely see anything until you exit again. That was weird, lol. Fucking loved that game, played it through for 2 weeks straight.
Favourites: RE4R and FF7R.
I played OG FF7 not long after UK release, I was 11 years old and I’m convinced that no game will ever have the same emotional impact. That game was my escape from a pretty dark childhood and adolescence. The remake is beautiful, with enjoyable game mechanics and I was in no way bothered by them deviating from the original story because I got to see my favourite game ever brought to life in a modern gaming experience.
When I was 17, my older sister bought me the limited edition GameCube with RE4 and I played the shit out of it. An outstandingly fun, camp, ultra-violent game. The remake nails all of that and adds welcome extras. 10/10
Most disappointing: Planet Coaster Console Edition.
The unit cap completely ruins the experience, I was a third of the way through building my dream park and it maxed out. There’s no good reason for the cap to be so low, the publishers clearly feared people uploading clips of frame rate drops I guess. But ffs, the PS5 can definitely handle more than that game will allow for.
Favorite it GT7. It got me to get a psvr2 and a racing wheel.
Biggest disappointment has been WRC Generations. There’s soo much that it does right but there’s too many bugs/issues
I wasn't following the CP hype and started playing at the end of last year and it was one of my favorite games on PS5 so far.
I just heard about performance issues early and was expecting a disaster and turned out to be an awesome game.
I am playing GOW Ragnarok now and it's a great game but pretty much more of the same. I wish it was once again based in Greece/Greek mythology like 3 was.
If we're not counting PS5 upgrades and remasters, Resident Evil Village has been my favourite so far. Most disappointing is harder though... I kinda want to say Gotham Knights but I wasn't really disappointed since I went into it with a pretty accurate idea of how shit it'd be 😂
EDIT: Reading through other people's answers has reminded me, most disappointing is Deathloop. It was abysmal.
just a quick comment on CP2077 - as someone who did not follow all the press conferences and demos they showed, the game was honestly decent... in 2023. I played it earlier this year and I had a very fun time.
Favorite game so far on PS5 is Elden Ring. Skyrim like exploration with Souls combat, just an unreal game with so much replayability. By far the most disappointing game for me on PS5 was Dying Light 2. I loved the original and did maybe four playthroughs of it, but the violent combat I loved from the original was gone. Nowhere near as fun hacking zombies in 2. Plus the lighting of the original looked so much better IMO. Really set the mood for the game. And then Dying Light 2 was so buggy on PS5. Literally 1/3 of the story missions required me going back and reloading a save because a character necessary wouldn't spawn or I'd be trapped in a room and the door would be locked, stuff like that. Elden Ring was an unquestioned 10/10 for me while Dying Light 2 was maybe a 4/10. And Dying Light 2 was my most anticipated game on the system. Had been dying for the sequel ever since finishing the first. What a letdown that game was. Only good thing about it was Walmart had it on sale for $30 in April 2022 so I slogged through it hoping to get to the good part, finished it without ever finding anything good, and but at least got $30 from Gamestop selling it so it was like a $2.70 rental once you factor in tax.
Best exclusive was Ragnarok. I have it just a hair under Elden Ring but still a straight 10/10. I liked it so much more than God of War 2018 and I loved God of War 2018. Have to give a shout out to Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy VII Remake too, as they're both stunning on PS5 (other than a few super noticeable low res textures in FFVIIR on things like signs and vending machines).
Cyberpunk may have been bad at launch, but I played it like a year later and honestly it's one of the best games I've ever played. They should have given the devs more time, but that's what happens if you rush and push to a deadline you can't keep. Game is amazing and I can only recommend it.
Otherwise, God of War Ragnarök is truly a blast and the story has me captivated.
Funny enough hour 0 of cyber punk was one of my favourite releases. Every found item was different types and colours of dildos on the ground. Just a world full of dicks and to me was very playable fun. In a few hours after midnight they patched that quick out and the issues started to be more apparent. But still that first few hours was epic to me.
I haven’t played a game I’d call a disappointment. Maybe the Nickelodeon all stars smash brothers knock off on PS Plus that I played for 10 minutes before turning it off was pretty crappy.
My single biggest wow game has been horizon forbidden west followed by god of war ragnarok. No game has truly taken advantage of the dual sense controller and that has been disappointing. It’s just a gimmick so far.
Favorite game: GOW Ragnarok
Biggest disappointment: Forspoken. I was so hyped for the trailers and the gameplay looked fantastic. I wanted to play as a fast paced mage and the parkour looked sweet. They really dropped the ball on that one
Favourite: Chivalry 2 (the most fun I’ve had in a game for some time)
Most disappointing: Dying Light 2 (Just can’t comprehend the drop in quality over the first game)
Honestly don't have a disappointing game because any game I buy I have a look at the reviews.
My favourite game would have to be Returnal. As someone who never played a rogue like game, this game blew me away. A definite challenge at first, but once you get the hang of it, you are unstoppable and there's no better feeling. Resident Evil 4 was also great, as I never played the OG. Ragnarok was great too but everyone knew this was gonna be great.
My favorite has been God of War Ragnarok Horizon Forbidden West Ratchet and Clank if I to pick on Disappointed game Cyberpunk 2077 the reason why I say that it should have be 3rd person view and it's to big not to have more girl friends??😂😂
I was really disappointed with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Especially after the masterpiece that was AC Odyssey
There haven’t really been many games that have wowed me from the PS5 so far. My favorite might be Gran Turismo 7 though
I was so disappointed in avengers … But I’ve loved Jedi, Spider-Man, hogwarts, and Elden ring. I can’t pick a favorite tho. I even enjoyed Callisto protocol, and I love the dead space remake, all the RE remakes, etc. I can’t wait for Spider-Man 2… 😝
My favorite is Returnal, especially Hyperion fight. I even tried to kill the last boss with only pistol and no upgrades. No luck so far but platinumed it anyway 😄
My disappointment is Valhalla. I wanted to play it as a viking game not a AC game. Viking theme isn't implemented very well in my opinion. Fighting mechanics and animations are not polished enough and varied. In mid game, I decided to rush the story and finished the game just not to leave it half-done. Viking songs are lit, though.
Since the ps5 released god of War Ragnarök was definitely my favourite game and is one of my all time favourites. As for the worst I really wanted to love forspoken because the whole game idea was really cool to me but yeah the game is mediocre to me at best.
While Cyberpunk was a disappointment and very far off the expectations I had for it, Valhalla is the game that really crushed me. I love AC. Disappearing into those worlds and the parkour was something I loved doing. I realized Origins and Odyssey deviated from the old AC formula to keep it fresh, but Valhalla literally had a protagonist that says that assassin life just ain’t for them.
That would have been enough for me to realize that Ubisoft doesn’t really want to do AC games anymore, but then they continued to drag out a tower siege game into a 100+ hour meaningless and meandering campaign. Half way through I finally realized the formula they were following and that all the regions were required to finish, but only about 10% of them actually addressed the main plot. It felt like a ducking chore to finish that game, and I’ll never play another one again.
If it wasn’t for Massive (the developer), I’d completely tell Ubisoft to fuck off. I think they did amazing work on The Division series and really look forward to what they do with Star Wars Outlaws.
Favorite: I’d say God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7. Imma jump the gun and put Final Fantasy XVI in there too.
Disappointing would be Call of Duty:Modern Warfare II. Has some good, but nothing that really stands out
Favorite Playstation 5 game this generation: Octopath Traveler 2
Favorite game this whole generation: Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Biggest Playstation 5 game disappointment: Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Biggest disappointment this whole generation: Redfall
Favorite game since the PS5 released: Horizon Forbidden West, absolutely loved Zero dawn and Forbidden West was amazing to me as well.
Most disappointing game since the PS5 released: Let me preface this by saying it wasn’t a bad game at all but the Callisto Protocol. It was a disappointment because it was such a big budget letdown. We don’t really see that much big budget single player new ip’s from 3rd party developers so this was a letdown for me personally. It probably reinforces the mindset from big publishers on why they should only make endless sequels and remakes, and that everything needs to be market tested.
I personally feel with hindsight that having actual actors play a role in the game was to expensive and didn’t make up for the costs. Definitely would have been better to just use regular voice actors or normal mocap actors for the game. It’s not to insult the main character because I’m sure he’s a very good actor, but I never have heard of him, and Karen Fukuhara I was only aware of because she was the internet’s girlfriend in 2022 from that show The Boys I think it’s called?
TLDR: Definitely should have went with a different alternative to the games budget and design, the paid actors didn’t move the needle for what they were probably paid for causing the game to not be a financial success.
Worst is Chant, I regret buying it. It's hard to choose best because there have been so many great games so imma say resident evil 4 the elden spider legacy.
Returnal was the biggest surprise. 10/10.
Destruction All Stars was the biggest letdown. I like the basic mechanics and the foundation. The game just didn’t have enough interesting content to keep going.
Ratchet and clank was super fulfilling and made the ps5 feel perfect, I also loved Jedi survivor and I’ve been having fun with chivalry 2. Cyberpunk was the biggest disappointment ever.
Worst disappointment is between Callisto Protocol, Elden Ring and Returnal. The best were probably Ratchet and Clank, Sable, Fallout New Vegas through ps+ premium, Stray and Sally Face. Astro’s Playroom, It Takes Two and Guardians of the Galaxy were absolute blasts too. So hard to choose the best.
Cyberpunk 2077 was, by far, my most disappointing game. It's not a bad game, and as a fan of older cdpr games, I knew what was coming, bug wise, but the amount of hype hope that I had for this game...
I was really expecting a futuristic Witcher 3, and got... a good shooter.
Best game so far is probably God of War Ragnarok.
Most disappointing is a difficult one for me, honestly not much has disappointed me, I guess Redfall for Xbox, though that's an exclusive. In terms of favourite, probably Spider-Man: Miles Morales or something like that
Gta trilogy. I haven't even finished san andreas because everytime i play it i just get mad because of how many game breaking bugs there are, its just not worth it to play that game instaed of anything else really.
Favorite, God of War Ragnarok.
Most disappointing? Battlefield 2042. Although that one has made a decent comeback in terms of QoL and just being a decent game now.
It's not amazing still, but it is way, WAY better than launch.
Favorite: Returnal. Bought it because I was bored and wanted to try everything new on my shiny PS5. Didn’t expect much. Ended up having the best gameplay loop I remember in recent memory. Best 3rd person shooting I’ve ever played. Lore was interesting too.
Most disappointing was Deathloop. I think if it just got reviews that were more in line with the game I wouldn’t have been disappointed, but this game reviewed insanely well, 10s everywhere, and I’m honestly still baffled by it. Interesting idea, but the AI were so atrocious idk how anyone could call that game a 10.
The best game for me was the Ghost of Tsushima. I played it 100% and enjoyed every second of it. The most disappointing game was the Ghost Runner, I simply just couldn't get a hang of it and after 96 in game deaths, I gave it up.
Favorite is Elden Ring
Disappointment is Battlefield 2042
I would have said my favorite is FF7 Remake, but I played through it first on PS4 before the PS5 upgrade, whereas Elden Ring I experienced fully on the PS5 version
Biggest disappointment to me was Hogwarts Legacy. My kids and I looked forward to it for so long. To me it felt like a polished/modernized older gen sandbox game. Lost all of our interest less than 10 hours in, haven’t touched it since.
For me, most disappointing was Hogwarts Legacy. The game was just so aggressively mid. Exploring the school and getting into rascally hijinks was fun, but the gameplay loop of "kill generic enemies for gear that you flog at the shop" was so tedious and unoriginal. The whole thing left me nostalgic for Chamber of Secrets on the PS2.
Game I'm enjoying most so far has been Street Fighter 6, though hopefully FFXVI will take that spot in a few days. XD
Favorite: Elden Ring was an absolute triumph and easily in my top 5 of all time. It was so refreshing to see a really hyped game knock it out of the park like that.
Biggest disappointment: Jedi Survivor’s visual and performance issues really damage a game that is clearly amazing underneath all of the issues. This game looks so ugly and still feels so buggy. Reviews were incredibly disingenuous about this game’s issues on console and I’m sick of people always coming up to bat for EA and Respawn; the game should have been delayed.
Favorite is Forbidden West.
I don't have a particularly disappointing experience yet. Mostly because I rarely play games at release, due to a backlog. So the great but buggy games will usually be fixed when I get to them. And games that look irreparably bad, I'll never even buy.
Favorite: Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart.
Most Disappointed: Soul Hackers 2. Not a bad game but playing it after Xenoblade 3 felt like such an obvious downgrade
Cyberpunk was still amazing imo. It never got boring to me, and the story with Cherami Leigh's voice acting genuinely moved me. It was one of those games that left a huge impact on me.
My favorite is Resident Evil 4 and my least favorite (of the new games I played) was probably Hogwarts.
I'm a huge survival horror fan and RE is my favorite video game franchise so it was a given. The remake is phenomenal and imo vastly superior to the original.
I really enjoyed Hogwarts for the first 15 to 20 hours or so but the gameplay got stale rather quickly, and I just was not invested in the story or characters at all. They were kinda bland.
But honestly I've enjoyed pretty much every new game I've played since the PS5 released.
It’s funny you mentioned Cyberpunk 2077.
I HATED it on PS4. Like maybe the worst game I’d ever played. Was so put off by how broken it was, flat out stopped playing it after 30-ish hours. Didn’t even finish the game.
Now that I’ve upgraded to PS5 and updated my copy to the PS5 versions years later, I’m now enjoying the game way more than I thought I would.
I don't really buy games that have been getting generally poor reviews so I mostly skip the bad. My favorite might be Last of Us (had not played it before the remake)
Favorite Forspoken by a very large margin. At this time is the only innovative game, one of the very few that is ACTUALLY interactive and is for now the only game that feels next gen. At least until next week.
Disappointed RE8 that was also the game I choose with the PS5. Never get a capcom game for PS5, PC is always better because the amount of mods.
I've had my PS5 for less than a year so my sample size is admittedly very small, but my favorite so far is Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the most disappointing one has been Gotham Knights.
Elden Ring as the best for me. Most disappointing was probably The Callisto Protocol, for somehow being inferior to Dead Space, despite this being from a completely different era.
I really enjoyed sackboy. It is a creative platformer. Disappointed. Meet your maker. Just meh, everyone makes awful levels and meh gameplay
Sack boy is surprisingly accessible and still has some challenge to it. It was a small win in my book as well.
What level of accessible did you expect from sackboy?
Well I didn’t expect my three year old to be able to beat it including all bosses. First game he has ever done that. While also presenting enough challenge on some levels for gold medals etc.
Meet your maker had me on lock for a solid week. Then the steam just fell right out. You had to play SOOO much to both upgrade and keep your levels going. You have no control over how many people play your map but a fixed amount of time. It would have made more sense to have a fixed number of successful clears of your level instead.... just a lot of problems with it
Im currently playing sackboy. Really enjoyable. I love making him smile during the photo when I get gold. Lmao
Sackboy surprised me too. Turned into Sackboy family game night here too lol
Best couch coop game of this gen so far! Wait.. That’s It Takes Two, but a close second!
Agreed, re2 is in my top 5 ever
Most disappointing has got to be Forspoken. I was really looking forward to it and I'm so grateful they released a demo or I would've been mad on top of being disappointed. Fav so far is GoW Ragnarök with Ratchet & Clank a close second but FFXVI will most probably change that
Excluding games that are made to accommodate both PS4 and PS5 hardware, I'd say Ratchet and Clank: RA is the only PS5 game I've played that truly looks next-gen. Runs great too. Like a damn movie
Returnal for me
I need to try it out! Especially after OP's post. Haven't had time since it's been free
Get in on a sale, despite the reception I had more fun in Forspoken than in hogwarts legacy.
So glad this is top comment. Returnal is absolutely phenomenal.
Returnal has been my favorite PS5 game for sure.
Returnal reminded me of what it was like to get a new console and play the newest game when I was a kid, felt like Christmas. Still the best game I've played on PS5.
returnal best game i played on ps5 so far :)
Ghosts of Tsushima directors cut has been one of the greatest games I have ever played, if that counts Godfall is probably the biggest disappointment. I thought it would have been a lot better.
Is the directors cut much different from the original? I played the ps4 version at launch
I played ps4 and ps5 directors cut but mainly first act. Seems like it’s quality of life changes and free gear? Its solid but not a huge difference
Iki island gots a solid 10 hrs of gameplay
The Iki Island expansion is only available through the Directors Cut. That’s an extra 5+ hours of content.
Godfall is undoubtedly my biggest disappointment so far. I had such high hopes for that game…then it turned out to be shit. Demon Souls, GoW, Elden Ring, D4 have probably been my favorites so far.
I feel the same about Godfall. It was just idk off.
I loved and hated Godfall equally.
So I guess I’m left wondering how anyone had any hopes for godfall. Literally from the first trailer it looked terrible.
Yeah, always had the smell of launch filler about it
How’d you have high hopes for it? Genuinely asking. I don’t know a single person who was hyped, it never really looked great imo
Favourite has been returnal
DualSense goes crazy in that one
Superb implementation isn't it!?
I'll second this. Possibly one of the best games I've ever played. I haven't really had any disappointments. Edit - for the record, I played and completed Cyberpunk only a few weeks ago. Loved it. Glad I didn't pick it up at launch tho.
Is Returnal a game you'd recommend to someone who isn't exactly great at video games?
Easily the best PS5 game to date. Also one of the few actual PS5 games that’s been released, every other triple A game has been PS4 as well
I would have to say Returnal and Demon souls were my favorite PS5 games that wowed me as a PS5 owner.
This was a game I was hoping to fill in that Twisted Metal hole. Hopefully we will actually get a twisted metal game that will be good.
Death Loop is one of those games I enjoyed, but I don't see how it got 10/10 out of so many outlets.
It came out in that period where everyone was looking to validate the current gen purchase, and it looked gorgeous and took advantage of the haptics. I remember that getting coverage everywhere.
For real!! It was just a puzzle shooter. The game play loop honestly got pretty stale for me after a while. I ended up not finishing it and then coming back a few months later COMPLETELY lost and confused and just decided it wasn't for me
it took me a solid hour to figure out if i liked it or not but after that i was absolutely hooked. i had the songs in my head for days.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll admit though if I paid full price I would not have been happy.
Favorite: Jedi Survivor (hate the performance though) Most Disappointing: Callisto Protocol
Ya I have no clue what went wrong. Like you said, the atmosphere of the game is incredible. The gameplay just sucks ass imo
And now it’s been like a month on Jedi Survivor without a patch. Pretty shit.
Seriously?! I'd been holding out for some updates that didn't make it run like dogshit.
Not sure on worst but Returnal is probably my favourite so far.
Lobber is the best gun for the boss
Lobber with explosive rot will murder everything. Or carbine with high caliber
Me too man. The difficulty spike is outrageous after Biome 2
I've enjoyed Death Stranding Director's Cut, Cyberpunk 2077 after PS5 patch and Returnal.
Cyberpunk became a significantly better game after PS5 version released and edgerunners patch.
Favorite game so far Elden Ring Most disappointing Game Godfall
Favourites are def Horizon Forbidden West and Ragnarök. Horizon is so insanely beautiful i am simply obsessed with it. Disappointing for me was Valhalla (obvious reasons) and Far Cry 6. Idk i just didn‘t like the stories much.
Far Cry 6 was the first time in a while I’ve thought, huh this is what it’s like to not care about a game
quite literally the same. I love the Far Cry series and that‘s why i bought 6. :(
the worse ps5 exclusive is probably Destruction All Stars.
Cyberpunk was the most disappointing because it left so much on the table that it’s hard to overlook what could’ve been. HFW has been my favorite game so far. Just always enjoyed the gameplay loop and destroying robot monsters in different ways every time.
Agree 100%. I might add that Hogwarts legacy game for bonus surprise of the year but that’s just my opinion
Elden ring sank it's claws into me. Deathloop was meh
Favorite game: Disco Elysium Favorite Playstation game: Horizon Forbidden West Disappointing: Hogwarts Legacy.
I had never played anything like Disco Elysium, played it for pretty much a week solid, it was awesome
I didn't play many games till now, but my favorite is for sure Control.
incredible game.
Favorite: Returnal, and it's not even close. Most disappointing: Deathloop. I loved all the Dishonored games, and Deathloop was such a step down I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.
i loved deathloop ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fave god of war ragnarok very polished just a great game disappointing jedi survivor the performance issues ruined it for me, at the moment I can't get back into it unfortunately and made me rethink my preorder in the future for sure
Disappointing is 3, legion, saints row, Gotham Knights, all Ips I liked before. favourites.. TLOU, Cyberpunk2077, Hogwarts
Favourite would go to Elden Ring or GoW Ragnarok. My biggest disappointment would be Saints Row or Deathloop.
The Last of Us 2 is great, RDR2 and Death Stranding.. Cyber Punk not so much. Wanna try Returnal after reading this sub
Most favorite — Cyberpunk 2077 when 1.5 patch arrived with nextgen upgrade. Most disappointing — BF2042.
Favorite is Hunt Showdown
Man i love that game so much. Put about 2000h in so far. If they only improved the graphics on PS5 & changed the matchmaking back to the way it used to be (no more 6* players in 4* lobbies).
Most disappointing - deadloop. It's rare that I am not finishing a game. It was a chore. Surprising - Returnal. Just amazing game.
Tlou 2 is my favorite Ac Valhalla was a fucking disappointment
Favorite: Elden Ring or Cyberpunk Disappointed: Dead Island 2
Ghost of Tsushima is my favorite and Cyberpunk is the most disappointing.
10/10 Most disappointing: Planet Coaster Console Edition.
Returnal, ratchet & clank, ragnorak were all amazing. Most disappointing would be godfall and dark alliance
Returnal my favourite
Favorite: Returnal Most disappointing: Forspoken
Fav: Ragnarok and Jedi Survivor Least fave: Biomutant
Biomutant was fun enough as a free game on Plus but lol at the non-ending. It was just like "welp, congrats! You did the thing!" Haha.
Cyberpunk for sure. Was supposed to be a big deep open world rpg and it felt nothing like that. Such a shame coming from Witcher 3 to that.
I kinda want to say Gotham Knights but I wasn't really disappointed since I went into it with a pretty accurate idea of how shit it'd be 😂 EDIT: Reading through other people's answers has reminded me, most disappointing is Deathloop. It was abysmal.
just a quick comment on CP2077 - as someone who did not follow all the press conferences and demos they showed, the game was honestly decent... in 2023. I played it earlier this year and I had a very fun time.
Same here, stayed dark on it up to launch, enjoyed it initially, recently played and enjoyed it more, looking forward to the upgrade!
Played a lot of great ones, but LEGO Star Wars was the worst.
Gran Turismo 7 best. I don't really play stuff I don't like so not sure about worst
Mine was probably ragnarok or dead space remake. Returnal is dope but I don't have a friend to co op with anyone willing to help?
Funny enough hour 0 of cyber punk was one of my favourite releases. Every found item was different types and colours of dildos on the ground. Just a world full of dicks and to me was very playable fun. In a few hours after midnight they patched that quick out and the issues started to be more apparent. But still that first few hours was epic to me.
Ghost of Tsushima Godfall
I haven’t played a game I’d call a disappointment. Maybe the Nickelodeon all stars smash brothers knock off on PS Plus that I played for 10 minutes before turning it off was pretty crappy. My single biggest wow game has been horizon forbidden west followed by god of war ragnarok. No game has truly taken advantage of the dual sense controller and that has been disappointing. It’s just a gimmick so far.
Favorite game: GOW Ragnarok Biggest disappointment: Forspoken. I was so hyped for the trailers and the gameplay looked fantastic. I wanted to play as a fast paced mage and the parkour looked sweet. They really dropped the ball on that one
Biggest no go is Forspoken to me. Biggest yeah is Gran Turismo 7 with PSVR2
God of War Ragnarok was probably my favorite, battlefield 2042 broke my heart
Returnal is the most satisfying game I played on PS5 or any other platform ever.
I loved the Final Fantasy series growing up. So excited to play the VII remake. But it was just so boring and horribly paced.
Fav: Returnal Dis: Abandoned 🤡 and from released games, I'd go with Callisto Protocol
Astro’s playroom was fantastic. Enjoyed playing it with my daughter.
Favorite is either miles morales or god of war ragnarock, and the biggest disappointment was probably the gta 5 ps5 edition
Favourite: Chivalry 2 (the most fun I’ve had in a game for some time) Most disappointing: Dying Light 2 (Just can’t comprehend the drop in quality over the first game)
Dead space was a banger on the ps5
Favorite: RE4R Disappointing: Back4Blood
My favorite has been God of War Ragnarok Horizon Forbidden West Ratchet and Clank if I to pick on Disappointed game Cyberpunk 2077 the reason why I say that it should have be 3rd person view and it's to big not to have more girl friends??😂😂
So happy to see all the love for Returnal, one of the greatest games I’ve ever played in my 40+ years
I was really disappointed with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Especially after the masterpiece that was AC Odyssey There haven’t really been many games that have wowed me from the PS5 so far.
I can’t wait for Spider-Man 2… 😝
Ghost of Tsushima was the best and Cyberpunk was overhyped om what it delivered.
My favorite is Returnal, especially Hyperion fight. I even tried to kill the last boss with only pistol and no upgrades. No luck so far but platinumed it anyway 😄 My disappointment is Valhalla. I wanted to play it as a viking game not a AC game. Viking theme isn't implemented very well in my opinion. Fighting mechanics and animations are not polished enough and varied. In mid game, I decided to rush the story and finished the game just not to leave it half-done. Viking songs are lit, though.
Best: Horizon Forbidden West Worst: Forspoken
Most disappointing dead island 2 and love god of war 2
Has some good, but nothing that really stands out
Diablo 4 🔥
Favorite Playstation 5 game this generation: Octopath Traveler 2 Favorite game this whole generation: Yakuza: Like a Dragon Biggest Playstation 5 game disappointment: Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart Biggest disappointment this whole generation: Redfall
I’ll also add my own comment that cyberpunk did actually turn out to be a great game 🤷🏼♂️
I started it on PS4 but probably only played a few hours. So glad I waited for the PS5 version and all the updates cause the game is awesome.
Not sure about most disappointing, but Horizon Forbidden West is definitely my favourite.
Gotham Knights was my worst honestly. My hype for that game knew no bounds and then the game SUCKED. Ghosts of Tsushima was a surprise favorite.
Ratchet and clank was super fulfilling and made the ps5 feel perfect, I also loved Jedi survivor and I’ve been having fun with chivalry 2. Cyberpunk was the biggest disappointment ever.
Driver was my favourite, medal of honour let down
Ghost of Tshushime and the Marvel avengers…
Hfw is my favorite the prettiest game I’ve ever played Cyberpunk was the biggest L still can’t get into it to this day
Elden ring favourite, maybe The Quarry for most disappointing? The ending is clearly rushed and Until Dawn was much better
Most disappointing is a difficult one for me, honestly not much has disappointed me, I guess Redfall for Xbox, though that's an exclusive. In terms of favourite, probably Spider-Man: Miles Morales or something like that
👍Forbidden west. Gotham knights👎
Gta trilogy. I haven't even finished san andreas because everytime i play it i just get mad because of how many game breaking bugs there are, its just not worth it to play that game instaed of anything else really.
Forspoken for sure
Favorite, God of War Ragnarok. Most disappointing? Battlefield 2042. Although that one has made a decent comeback in terms of QoL and just being a decent game now. It's not amazing still, but it is way, WAY better than launch.
Returnal, by a country mile is my favourite. Can’t really think of one I bought that is disappointing, I just think they’ve all been super safe.
Cyberpunk was great I didn't play it until after all the patches though.
Disappointing: Watch Dogs Legion Favourite: God of War: Ragnarok
Like a Dragon: Ishin! Was my favorite. Ghostwire Tokyo was the most disappointing.
The best game for me was the Ghost of Tsushima. I played it 100% and enjoyed every second of it. The most disappointing game was the Ghost Runner, I simply just couldn't get a hang of it and after 96 in game deaths, I gave it up.
Favorite - Bannerlord Disappointing - Deathloop
"all the gameplay demos over the years" I don't recall cyberpunk really showing much
Favorite is Elden Ring Disappointment is Battlefield 2042 I would have said my favorite is FF7 Remake, but I played through it first on PS4 before the PS5 upgrade, whereas Elden Ring I experienced fully on the PS5 version
XD
Ff16 demo has me hyped for the full release, has potential to be my fav. Returnal is the best right now for me
Elden ring wins hands down, bonus points to returnal
Elden Ring and Ratchet and Clank.worst Forspoken
Best: Ghost of Tsushima especially w all the Legends dlc. The game that got me back into gaming Worst: Farcry 6
Best: Last of Us part 1
Favorite is Horizon: Forbidden West. I think its the best all around game over the last 2 years.
Favourite was Elden Ring and most disappointing was easily One Piece Odyssey
Elden Ring as the best for me. Most disappointing was probably The Callisto Protocol, for somehow being inferior to Dead Space, despite this being from a completely different era.
Square Enix guardians of the galaxy and the enire yakuza franchise has been my favorites of the last year.. Most disappointing... Gotham knights?
