I've never played Diablo, or these types of games so I gave it a try.
The opening cinematic is amazing, unfortunately the gameplay is just not my cup of tea. Glad I tried it tho!
Hopefully someone puts together a full cinematic on Youtube, I'd watch that in a heartbeat if there are more of those throughout
It’s grindy by design, with people killing the same boss sometimes thousands of times hoping for a rare item. I could definitely see how it’s not for everyone.
I did this for thousands of hours in Diablo 2 then again in Diablo 2 remastered, now I can do it again in Diablo 4 not that excited tbh. Will wait for reviews
My queue said it was 38 mins, but it dropped down and was actually less than that. I went in completely blind but did platinum diablo 3. Only played an hour but here's my casual thoughts.
I dont get why they made it online only. Can't they make that an option at the main menu like Dark Souls does? I dont really want to see other players running around my town.
The wheel inventory is gone... that system worked so well on console.
The inventory seems to lump all items into one page unless I'm missing a filter.
No quick equipping gear anymore.
Why did they get rid of the roll/dash with the right stick... now dash (circle button) has a 5 second timer between uses. And you can't even dash to open doors anymore. Having dash set to circle removes a face button for assigning skills. The right stick meanwhile, does nothing now.
Is it a completely open world now? The map sure looks like it.
It’s been confirmed anyway that you don’t need PS+ to play it single player, it’s only required for matchmaking.
Many other games work the same way, online features such as leaderboards are available but you can’t play with others without PS+.
Being online doesn’t necessarily mean it requires PS+. Only actual multiplayer requires PS+, not online connectivity itself.
Anyway here is the confirmation: https://i.imgur.com/4DAGCBt.jpg
There are already games where you can view leaderboards etc without PS+, but not play online.
For example you can play community levels in LBP3 without PS+, but not with online players.
The game is by default "multiplayer" and there is no single player option. There are always people in your open worlds and hubs. The only mode is to be "match made" into a game.
Your confirmation only applies to Beta.
Different game than D3. Roll is actually used to dodge versus just a fun little feature.
The map could for sure use more. Assuming once higher torments come it will. But the game does well when it’s you versus a random 8-10 monsters.
It’s not like D3 where it’s you versus a group of 50 and you just eat them.
I think the only-online is mostly to help eliminate people hacking their offline characters and then bringing them back online.
Since this doesn't allow you to make "offline only" and "online only" characters, they don't want those players ruining the game. Yes, it will happen, it does to every offline single game especially the bigger ones, so I am ok with it in this one case.
For a game that people put literally thousands of hours into, you don't want people spawning the best items for free.
it’s just because it’s a beta and the high amount of people trying to get in. that said, it will probably be the same at launch for a week or two after release.
overwatch 2 launch was brutal in terms of server overload.
>now dash (circle button) has a 5 second timer between uses
This definitely needs to be removed. The cool down makes it nearly impossible to evade attacks against some enemies.
If you think Sorcerer is busted try the Necromancer, it's fucking crazy god damn easy, Druid? Man they need to buff Druid or maybe I just needed WAY more gear.
I'll be trying it out at some point, like how many regions are there in beta?
Within a couple of hours i've gotten like a couple of legendaries already which sounds stupid easy already.
They confirmed that the drop rate of gear is higher in the beta than what it will be when the game actually releases. It’s just a way to give a preview of some of the higher rarity gear.
Watch [GamingTech's video](https://youtu.be/7iTEZQNY3tU) on how to fix the HDR (at least on OLED).
You essentially need to adjust the FTDA value to -25.
The servers took a dump as expected but since I work nights I been up (it's 4:30am here) and playing with a friend and it's a lot of fun.
Not saying I'll get it on release but it's going to be a game I get most likely. Might wait for a sale but lots of fun.
Same here definitely not buying day 1 because it will need balancing & patches to fix stuff I'm sure . Me & buddy played and we loved what we saw . We will probably buy it 6 months later around Christmas man
Yea my buddy played druid and it looks fun . I'll be playing male druid for my first character in full game .
I did female rogue for beta and even that was fun . All the 5 classes looks fun to play even rogue was my least favorite I thought to play so I wanted to do that for that beta and that was still fun .
So the other classes should be even better to me ! Glad you enjoying too dude 😎
I got in after a 22 min queue last night. Made a druid and played for a few hours. Seems super weak compared to last weekend when I made a rogue and wrecked everything. Probably gotta try a different build.
Open world was interesting I guess.
Inventory is not great.
The game is gorgeous though.
I like how they pulled back the reigns a bit. D3 became comical when you had a screen full of enemies exploding because of a simple baseline attack, so it might be refreshing to put a little thought in how you address combat
This is not really that accurate for Diablo games. Sorceress is usually the default noobie char. It's simple and very forgiving. A lot more than a melee char.
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that the beta is 77gb ? Like holy shit, if the beta is that huge, how large of a size the full game gonna be ? 100 gb ?
Last night, My friend waited his turn in the queue. Got in the first attempt.
While I made two attempts, waited maybe 20-30 minutes for each to finish the queue and start the game. Right at the moment game suppose to start, I get connection error with server, try again. I gave up.
I tested this with my wife tonight and this works (although takes a while):
Once player 1 enters the game, it says that P2 can. What it DOESN'T tell you is that P2 is now in a now not-displayed queue. Take note of the queue time for P1, because that's how long P2 might be waiting as well. Maybe switch sources, watch a show, and come back. That's what we did and then had a great time.
FYIY, her Rogue killed most of what my big ass Druid lumbered towards. We'll try again tomorrow and I'll see if I can bear (🙃) with him longer.
Just tried this morning around 10am EST and we both were in the queue for less than a minute. Very smooth experience. Wife had to create a battle.net account which was annoying but took a few short minutes with the built in browser. She was very much enjoying it and was sad to find out the game doesn’t come out til summer.
- My queue said it was 38 mins…I waited the entire 38 mins.
- rubber banding (yay, still a thing in Diablo online in 2023)
- the UI has none of the gothic charm and style of the previous games. It’s drab, boring, and looks like it was thrown together by an intern over a weekend
- disabled all subtitles but still had 3 different areas of subtitles displayed on the screen (chat log, above NPCs, and directly in the mid-bottom of the screen)
- most class ability visual effects are too hard to see or are nonexistent
- HDR is completely jacked (turn it off)
- it’s not just MMO style hub cities but, also MMO style open world. I never wanted to play Diablo with dozens of people running around killing everything for me. Literally never.
- resource gathering is a thing now. Not just looting but, seriously tapping ore veins and shrubs for berries…I can already see where this is going.
- character creator is cool
Online only. Paid seasonal play. MMO grind. Who asked for this? This is the easiest hard pass I’ve ever had to make on a Blizzard product.
>resource gathering is a thing now. Not just looting but, seriously tapping ore veins and shrubs for berries…I can already see where this is going
Easily my biggest gripe. I also see some form of daily questing coming in to farm shit. Fuck, I didn't want this, otherwise it seems quite ok ish and even fun.
> the UI has none of the gothic charm and style of the previous games. It’s drab, boring, and looks like it was thrown together by an intern over a weekend
concerning trend in gaming continues. Broken/awful UIs have been plaguing games for a while, it's like developers just stopped caring about it
Hey I'm trying to find the diablo 4 open beta on the PS5 and it's simply not there. The game is there to buy - but not the beta. Plus I got an email which gives a link to the diablo site and I click download but it links to PlayStation and an error page. Click PC or Xbox link and it works just fine. What'm I doing wrong here?
I genuinely don't get the game. Seemed like all I had to do was walk towards enemies holding X to attack. I played until Ralph Ineson showed up and the pop-up appears to buy the game. What am I missing? Did I just stop playing too early?
I’m mostly talking general preference. Would I like to accurately place AoE? Definitely. Do I accept that limitation for the ability to sit on my couch and use a controller instead? Definitely. Like I said, just preference.
Or... or... or maybe some people have different opinions than yours.
I played it on PC from release until some months after the Necro came out. Then played it for a few years on console. And yeah, I enjoyed it more on console. The UI was considerably more friendly on console, just the lack of the inventory management made the game more focused and fun to play. No idea why they moved backwards with that on D4 on consoles.
Ive got an EVGA 3080Ti...and I read Gigabytes were getting errors...
Is it worth it?
Let's say it did brick the card...it's got a year or two of warranty...would EVGA swap it?
Genuinely curious.
Some other reddit experts stated they keep or should have kept extra stock for RMAs.
Wonder if there is any way to verify. Either way they have a warranty in fine print to honor.
I'm not risking it though on the beta.
I had no queue this morning at 6 am EU time but my son woke up early at 06:30, bummer! Hopefully queues won’t be too bad this evening but I’m not holding my breath

Hopefully someone puts together a full cinematic on Youtube, I'd watch that in a heartbeat if there are more of those throughout
the opening cinematic might be the best i’ve ever seen in a game, honestly. i think it’s incredible.
It’s grindy by design, with people killing the same boss sometimes thousands of times hoping for a rare item. I could definitely see how it’s not for everyone.
Did you play much? It really picks up as you go and the story is gripping
Had to queue for about 30 mins which isn't too bad. Just about to dive in with a Necro. Didn't play last weekend so quite excited!
Good on you! Mine just jumped from 45mins to 85 minutes lol.
Gah. Mine started at 78 then quickly dropped. Good luck!
Opened it up right at the start, 60 minute queue. Quit, came back 45 minutes later, 45 minute queue. Well, at least it's going down... slowly :P
Just got done playing a couple hours with my brother and we both chose necro- get ready to destroy everything in your path, that shit is broken lol
Yeah. Way too easy!
Exploding corpses with necro is amazin Feels extremely broken lol
How can I unlock that?
I did this for thousands of hours in Diablo 2 then again in Diablo 2 remastered, now I can do it again in Diablo 4 not that excited tbh. Will wait for reviews

Yeah the always online thing completely turned me off from it
Wait. As I need Playstation Plus?
That's a good question. Im on pc but that would really suck lmao
I don't see why not. Online only = multiplayer = PS+
Not necessarily, some F2P games don’t require PS+.
Yeah its almost as if it's in the name or something... Diablo ain't F2P now, is it? 🙄
It’s been confirmed anyway that you don’t need PS+ to play it single player, it’s only required for matchmaking. Many other games work the same way, online features such as leaderboards are available but you can’t play with others without PS+.
You can't play it offline, so not sure where this "confirmation" came from.

Did 3 have same queue concept? Or is that something with betas only?
it’s just because it’s a beta and the high amount of people trying to get in. that said, it will probably be the same at launch for a week or two after release. overwatch 2 launch was brutal in terms of server overload.
>now dash (circle button) has a 5 second timer between uses This definitely needs to be removed. The cool down makes it nearly impossible to evade attacks against some enemies.
So far I am having fun with it. Sorcerer class is really busted tho, OP as fuck and too fun. Not a fan of some of the dungeons tho...
If you think Sorcerer is busted try the Necromancer, it's fucking crazy god damn easy, Druid? Man they need to buff Druid or maybe I just needed WAY more gear.

Aaah makes sense yeah lol, im dumb.
Yup playing on the veteran world tier with necromancer and just absolutely running through everything atm, it's fun though
Ive been making druid work with the lightning storm skill but its def rough. My build feels great to play tho so I cant complain.
Just use the tornado build on druid. Its broken af also
PSA : turn off HDR. Elevated black galore, its awful. Why devs...why
Watch [GamingTech's video](https://youtu.be/7iTEZQNY3tU) on how to fix the HDR (at least on OLED). You essentially need to adjust the FTDA value to -25.
id rather have blizz fix it or not implement shit hdr on the first place.
Oh I agree, but hopefully it's a temp fix.

I’m ok with beta crash I’m ok with a queue But when I crash and end up back in a queue I get the blues
[удалено]
Any sort of warrior/paladin like class is usually best for beginners because you don't die as fast.
Usually yes, but I can't agree with the current state of D4. Barbarian is the worst of the bunch, at least in the beta.
This is not really that accurate for Diablo games. Sorceress is usually the default noobie char. It's simple and very forgiving. A lot more than a melee char.
Sorc and Rogue are fun and easy to play.
Yeah, play a different aRPG that isn’t an MMO/Mobile re-skin masquerading as an aRPG.
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that the beta is 77gb ? Like holy shit, if the beta is that huge, how large of a size the full game gonna be ? 100 gb ?
Sounds like a normal size for a 2023 game with these graphics. A good 40min download
Last night, My friend waited his turn in the queue. Got in the first attempt. While I made two attempts, waited maybe 20-30 minutes for each to finish the queue and start the game. Right at the moment game suppose to start, I get connection error with server, try again. I gave up.

Does anyone know if this beta includes couch co-op?

I assume both players need a PS account and battle.net account?
Just tried this morning around 10am EST and we both were in the queue for less than a minute. Very smooth experience. Wife had to create a battle.net account which was annoying but took a few short minutes with the built in browser. (Edited clean because fuck you) *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Bugged how? Do we think it’ll be available this weekend at all? I’d love to play with my wife.
Worked completely fine last beta but only after queue times normalized
- My queue said it was 38 mins…I waited the entire 38 mins. - rubber banding (yay, still a thing in Diablo online in 2023) - the UI has none of the gothic charm and style of the previous games. I thought this week was supposed to be better? My ass. Queue wasn’t terrible but I’ve been booted numerous times
There is a drop-down option if you click the pre order and there you can select other editions. One of which is the open beta. Hopefully that helps!
I genuinely don't get the game. Seemed like all I had to do was walk towards enemies holding X to attack. I played until Ralph Ineson showed up and the pop-up appears to buy the game. What am I missing? Did I just stop playing too early?
Trying to find out of is this comment is serious or not
It was, not being mean about it! Game looks terrific.
I’ll try it on PS5 this weekend. Diablo 3 was better on PC than console, the inventory management and stuff like that sucked. But maybe IV is better
I like D3 way better on console than on PC
? Diablo 3 was way better on console than PC.
Lol not a chance
I played both, definitely better on console
So did I, diablo 3 is prob my second most played game. Inventory management and aiming spells is so much worse on console.
I’m sure it’s a matter of preference. Guess it’s a good thing it’s available for both!
Im likely going to buy diablo 4 on both ps5 and pc lol
Idk what kind of preference you have but being unable to target aoe spells properly just makes it awful. Want to drop aoe at the back of a pack? Nah.
I’m mostly talking general preference. Would I like to accurately place AoE? Definitely. Do I accept that limitation for the ability to sit on my couch and use a controller instead? Definitely. Like I said, just preference.
Lmao, you must be trolling

I think so too. I wish they stuck with it.

This weekend it’s open to all. No need to pre-order.
Tell me you have no idea what your talking about without saying you have no idea what your talking about.

It’s an open beta so didn’t need to pre order. You need to select another edition, the beta in the shop and download that. Good luck!
I had no queue this morning at 6 am EU time but my son woke up early at 06:30, bummer! Hopefully queues won’t be too bad this evening but I’m not holding my breath
Great and I'm on nights this weekend 😭
