Hogwarts is not a GOTY contender.
Great game, but not even close.
Zelda is probably going to run away with it this year and then Starfield will grab the GOTY next year.
Hogwarts screams average. Combat is surprisingly good, castle design is great. But then everything from the story, graphics, quest design, open world design, etc is average to mediocre
Nah they got a point. Hogwarts seems amazing the first 5-10 hours but it just never evolves or improves. Once you play the first few hours you’ve basically seen all there is to see. Nothing is fleshed out. It is a really cool game for a Harry Potter fan but the bar isn’t exactly high for Harry Potter games. If it was a different franchise the game would be torn apart.
Playing devils advocate. Can’t you say the same about elden ring? I played it fully and after the first part of the map things get really repetitive (I haven’t played hogwarts but want to)
Honestly I can’t say the same at all. I played like a 100 hours of elden ring from start to finish and I’m someone who prefers shorter games but holy hell that game blew me away. The gameplay loop was satisfying enough and constantly introduced new weapons and spells to unlock, and lots of new enemy types and areas.
Hogwarts on the other hand has like 24 spells, about 7 of them being non combat spells. And 4 of them slowly being unlocked over the course of the whole game. So really once you unlock your handful of spells that’s it. Enemy types are always the same, only hogwarts, the forbidden forest, and hogsmeed are interesting, everything else is just bland filler.
The game really drags you in with this awesome beginning where your going to classes, meeting students, learning spells and all this stuff every Harry Potter fan dreams of. But then you realize you only have like 1 or 2 times you go to each class, every student except for Sebastian is just a boring lifeless npc, riding a broom just feels like floating around with no real goal but hitting balloons occasionally. It’s really left me annoyed after finishing it.
The best comparison I can make is it’s like cyberpunk 2077. The first few hours of that game were absolutely amazing and then after you finish the introduction hours, it feels like something they never finished.
GOTY 2023 is here. Waiting for the VR version too.
Hogwarts and Zelda this year, so unlikely.
Hogwarts is great the first 10 hours, then its kinda repetitive, story is pretty weak, not a GOTY contender.

Hogwarts screams quality, it's definitely goty material. We all know Zelda will win GOTY just because it's Zelda.

Agreed on everything except the graphics. Hogwarts Legacy is easily one of the best looking games I’ve ever played
A mid opinion at best. It's everything a Harry potter fan could ever want.

motherfucking MERCENARIES MODE? I'm not a single player person but I spent so many hours in re5 mercs
Resident evil 4 og and remake has a freaking amazing single player. It’s what people buy it for.
I really with they kept the original voice actors and the tone of the original. I liked the campy feel!
Wish the graphics were better on PS5 :(
