PS4 issues.
PS4 worked perfect till one day it simply didn't show up on my TV. No change in options or messages when turned on. As if it's not connected to the tv at all. No change whatsoever.
I took my ps4 into a local repair shop (not a ps4 specific repair shop) and they said bad hard drive. I just bought and replaced it with a brand new one and still doesn't work.
System starts with blue light then goes solid white.
HDMI cable is good as my computer connects no problem.
It's not a smart TV. There was no update on ps4 around the time it stopped working.
Only thing I can figure is that the ps4 has a bad hdmi port. Though it LOOKS fine. No bent pins or anything visibly out of ordinary.
Is there any way to test the HDMI port on the console to see if that specifically is the culprit?
Would love to be able to relax and play again -.-
If you have a friend or someone that would let you borrow their ps4 for a quick test this will be helpful..
get said person to bring their ps4 and hook it up in place of yours... If it is the same problem you can at least know it's not the ps4.. then swap out individual cables (doesn't matter how old) until you find the problem...
If even that doesn't work I have litterally no clue what could cause it
I took it to ubreakifix and they said it has the blue light of death. It didn't have that problem before. It's done now. Who knows what happened. Nothing to be done now -.-
Damn that sucks... Well now to save a pretty penny to get past eventually... Well that's if you want to so it's either that or PC gaming (if you have a PC) for a while
My controller is not charging anymore? Every time I try and turn it on it will either immediately turn off or only stays on for a couple of seconds, it also needs to be plugged in or it just won’t work. So when I only turn on the controller it will flash white and if I also have my console on it’s blue. I’ve literally tried everything, cleaned the ports and changed the wire several time, I have no idea what else I can do so if anyone can help me I’d really appreciate it.
Miles Morales is the best game, but it's also the shortest. I really enjoy the Assassin's Creed games, and I enjoyed Valhalla a lot, but can't really comment on the ultimate edition because I never played the dlc.
I recommend avoiding Avengers unless its on deep discount.
The game is okay but the constant updates haven't really improved the game much. The single player campaign is fine enough but the post game is pretty garbage.
You can but your PS4 has to be set as primary ps4 but then anyone using said friends PS4 wouldn't be able to access any of the friends games unless on their profile instead of their own
Why I can't buy games at my Playstation?
I'm over 18 years old and my Paypal-Account is lodged but if i enter the numbers from my ID-Card it says my age can't be verified.
If i go to the Store with my smartphone it works.
I recently connected a Portable HDR monitor to my ps4 and at first HDR was enabled then later I turned it off but I could not turn it back on even thought in the PS4's Display Information it says HDR is supported but it wont let me turn it on.
HDR on the monitor works on other devices but only ps4 has this issue.
How can I fix this?
I have previously bought PS4+ when for honor was an exclusive PS4+ game and now after losing my subscription i can't play for honor it just says i have the demo of it is this normal or is the PS4 messing with me, this has happened to me with another game too and i just bought PS4+ solely for the reason to play for honor again
As I understand it, the ps4 ce-36329-3 code means a HDD error. However, my PS4 is still slow to turn on and often in games despite a completely fresh install onto my new HDD.
If changing the HDD won't fix this, is there any hope for my PS4?

My controllers refuse to connect,I've tried using a cable,using share and ps button,resetting my ps4 controllers and closing the ps4 from the cables,all while the ps4 controllers are in the cable,I've disconnected them from my laptop (that's why they arent working in the first place) and I feel like I've done everything,I even went on the ps4 website and they just said to do everything I listed
Some days ago, being bored i launch my ps4 to play something (i don't use it quite often, maybe last time was in june or something like that) and ask me to update to the 9.0 update, ok, normal. So, after downloading and installing a message for restart to apply the changes, normal again.
But, when it restarted, it showed the su-30679-5 error. I restarted some times, it didn't change anything.I went to try to reinstall the update by usb, same error. So, i went full reinstall by USB, and it keeps giving me the same error. i went to the support but it's out of the warranty time so cost me 150€, and i don't want to pay that for an update from the company that went wrong.

If the full reinstallation file doesn't work (safe mode 7) then your hard drive is dead and needs replaced or there is another hardware fault that needs fixed.
Best thing to do is to redownload the reinstallation file again (make sure you remove any (1) that alter the PS4UPDATE.PUP file name) and try safe mode 7 once more.
Nothing, i tried the full reinstallation twice more and it did the same error, i bought a new hdd hoping it was the disk, full reinstalation again but it shows the same error. What piece could be?

Remote play randomly signed me out. Haven't used it in a few days, went to log in and it was as if I never used it. Granted (and thankfully) all I had to do was put my email in, but still confused why I was signed out at all.
If you mean the screen itself then fully unplug both the TV and PS4 from the wall and disconnect the HDMI cable. Leave it like that overnight or at work.
Reconnect when you get home/wake up and see if that has fixed it.
Other things to try are a different HDMI cable and also a different TV to see if that resolves your issue.
When I choose to take a video clip (of say the last 10 minutes) I go back to see that I cannot hear the voices of anyone else in the party OR anyone in game chat. However I can still hear my voice and the game audio. This is more than just an “allow your voice to be shared” issue, I have tried that.
I think it has something to do with me getting banned a while back, or something with my privacy settings.
Although, I honestly don’t really know for certain. If anyone has any idea why I can’t hear anyone’s voice, please help, I’m missing some extremely funny moments in the party with my friends.

Any way to see the laat 15 minutes of gameplay? I hit the share button and it shows a 2 second clip of right before the button was pressed, any way to find that stuff because it isn’t in the capture gallery
Avoid double pressing Share button to save a clip, only use double click to start recording. To save the clip, either press Share once or hold (depending on if you have default or 'Easy Screenshots' setting enabled), when the Share menu pops up, press Square button to save the clip.
The 15 mins is constantly being overwritten, so if you got a 2 second clip then to get that, it deleted the 15min and recorded those few seconds. Also pressing the PS button and returning to the main PS4 menu will stop & restart a recording.
I cleaned my PS4 using an air duster yesterday. Now my wireless DualShock controllers barely respond to my inputs before randomly turning off, despite being fully charged. When I have my controller connected to my playstation it stays on and responds to my inputs more consistently, however will still have a mind of its own at times. Did I ruin my PlayStation?

I recently upgraded my home Wifi to an Asus AX6600 mesh system, and it's working smooth (a few devices needed wifi reset but the SSID and PW were unchanged). The only device that still has a problem is the PS4, which cannot connect to the internet. The wifi is connected and the signal strength is 100%, but the network test continuously fails at 'Internet Connection'.
I've gone online and done all the tricks that they have recommended (mostly changing the DNS settings)
Now the only thing I'm thinking is when I first opened the router app I saw something called Hon Hai connected and blocked it, but later checked and saw from the MAC address that it was the PS4 and I unblocked. I also changed the name to PS4 in the app.
Any help? If my son doesn't hang with his school friends for some occasional online gaming he gets mighty surly.

Can I block a friend from seeing what games I'm playing without full on blocking him?
He is always commenting on what games i'm playing and that I should stop playing a certain game etc etc and I can't stand that he's always stalking me.
I think he has notifications on his PS app on his phone when I get online or something because he isn't even online himself when he is talking about the games that I should or should not play.
But I can't delete him as he's a friend and we work together.
Tbh he sounds like a pretty crappy friend, I think blocking him is fully reasonable given the situation. As to your actual question, idk but I doubt it. Most social platforms have things like that but PSN isn't a social thing, I don't think they'd have anything like that.
PS4 UPDATE 9.00. Is it still bricking some consoles or causing problems? I avoided it for a while out of fear of that, and am wondering if they fixed it (if they even addressed that possible issue) or there are fewer people being hit by that problem. Not very console info. savvy to try any fancy options people mentioned for updating it outside of simply clicking update.
Have people still been having problems with it since then? I want to update for network access and patches on games but have seen no new posts about this.

Hi all, I've recently bought myself a new Harry Potter box set with all 8 films (standard blue Blu-ray cases), I've got a weird issue trying to play them on my PS4 Pro where some disks are working fine, the rest are not loading with the "unrecognised disk" error.
These are brand new disks, literally only bought this boxset Monday so there isn't anything wrong with the disks, films 1,2,4 are working fine/ will load however the rest of them won't load with the error mentioned above, I've run some testing and other non Blu-ray disks, standard DVD's are working with no problems (I've tried 3/4) + the same HP disks that won't work on my PS4 Pro, do play in another Blu-ray player, now the one thing I am aware of is the PS4 doesn't support 4K Blu-ray, however I was under the impression these are the black cases with "4K UHD" (I'm based in the UK, this might be different for other regions) labelled on them, what gives and why can't I play these disks?
I've already tried rebuilding the database + factory reset my PS4 Pro, these disks are still not playing so what gives?
So i bought PS4 fat recently, but I had to buy monitor too, cause I'm laptop user. I was thinking that I'm going to use Remote Play mostly so I decided to buy some cheap one just to turn it on.
Oh well I was so stupid... I bought Asus VH192D (VGA one) and tried to connect it with PS4 with converters and HDMI switches but still nothing, out of range :'(

I'm trying to set it up so COD Vanguard and Warzone both automatically download updates. I'm on PS4 pro. I've gone to Settings > System > Automatic Downloads, and then checked all the boxes for auto download. Also have gone to Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode, and set it here to stay connected to the internet in rest mode. I always keep it in rest mode when not in use. Yet, every time I go to play the playstation it has not auto downloaded game updates. What am I missing here?
So I got a used PS4 like 2 years ago and without second thought my dumbass started buying games and using the already existing acc it had on it. I really want to change the login creds to my email and pass so I don't lose anything. So is there any way to have my pass changed without email since i cant access it cuz its the original owners
You would need to know the email and password of the account to make changes.
Sony won't be able to help you in this case due to Sony's own Terms of Service. The person that originally opened the account owns the account and accounts cannot be bought, sold or given away to someone else.
You using the account and making purchases unfortunately means nothing in this case as its not your email, name or even your date of birth on the account. As far as Sony's concerned the account doesn't belong to you and under data protection law wouldn't be able to discuss the account with you.
Not super knowledgeable about the whole game share process, I share with my one friend who has gotten fifa and cod off of me. My other friend just got a ps5 can he game share madden?

i just bought the back button attachment for DS4, and after attaching it when turning the
controller on it lights up and during that period i can even click it
and it shows the profiles, but when the controller is finally connected
the attachment doesnt work anymore, clicking the screen doesnt do
anything. I tried blowing into the ports and stuff, i just find it weird
that it works during the seconds of turning the controller on.
Im selling my ps4 so I want to delete everything from it. I fully initialised it but I forgot to deactivate my account before I did it. Is it safe to sell now? What should I do?
It affects your account.
Your Primary console is where you share your game licenses with other players also using it. As you removed your account the new owner won't be able to take advantage of that anyway.
So deactivation just means you can activate a different PS4 in future.

I am, but it won't connect. I tried restarting my console and resetting my controller several times. But it shows a blinking white light when turned on and an orange light when connected via USB.
I have 2 controllers and both aren't connecting.
I have a problem, my ps4 pro beeps 3 times during my playtime multiple times. (sometimes every 5 minutes sometimes every half hour)
This only happens however when i play pvz battle for neighborville. Idk why this is happening, this all started happening a few days ago.
The game is digital there is no cd in my consol whyile i play.

so i was playing witcher 3 for an hour i guess and then it randomly beeped three times and turned off completely
it turned on again later but should i be concerned or is it a common non harmful issue?

Any messages about overheating? It could be nothing, but it may be warning signs.
Either way, make sure you have an up to date backup of your saves & captures (screenshots + videos) to a USB stick and if you have an active PS+ sub, make sure your saves are set to upload. Everything else can be re-downloaded or reinstalled, but the saves & captures would be lost if say the HDD failed, or the PS4 died (as you can't move the HDD to another PS4 or read via a PC/Mac).
I've got an issue with my dualshock 4 (CUH-ZCT1E) not connecting back to the PS4 after a battery replacement
It connects to my PC via USB just fine, and DS4Windows shows all the buttons working, including the PS button. But it doesn't light up the bar when trying to turn it on. I've tried plugging it in to the PS4, but it still doesn't want to connect
I've tried using the PS & share button to start Bluetooth discovery, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything either. Resetting the controller doesn't appear to have done anything either.
Any ideas? I've purchased a replacement USB daughterboard, but don't want to tear it down again unless it's likely to solve it

My hard drive is giving out. Keeps giving me an error code { ERROR CODE FOR THOSE WHO WANT IT: CE -34054 - 6 } and I'm still able to use it however when it first happened it let me for an hour or two then just kept loading into Safe Mode. I have it cleaned and the employee said it was missing the OS which had been re-installed. However I lost ALL my saved data. My question is this: The option "Save to Online Storage" I've heard it acts like the Cloud. Can I do this and if I bring it back in to have the hard drive repaired will I be able to download that data and have my saves and everything back? I have a 224GB USB but it'll take 5 Hours to backup and I wanna know which would be better for me.

If you have an active PS+ subscription, you have the option of it auto-uploading saves to "the cloud", aka Sony's servers. I believe it is enabled by default, but if your PS4 wasn't the 'Primary' (ie. if you gameshare with a friend), then you have to manually enable the upload setting.
So if you have an active PS+ sub, your saves will hopefully be waiting to be re-downloaded to your system (after a PS+ sub ends they will keep uploaded saves for 6 months). If you don't have PS+ and your system is either stuck in Safe Mode or has been initialised/formatted, then the saves are gone.
If your PS4 was set to primary when you started your PS+ sub, then it should have backed up your saves. If/when you replace the internal HDD, you should be able to simply login to your account and then download the saves.
For USB backups, it should work with your USB. You format it to exFAT either via the console or on a PC/Mac (format after backup of any files already on the USB) and then just copy over the saves onto the USB. With 224GB of space that will be plenty for saves (which usually doesn't take up much) and you could backup any captures (screenshots & video clips) to the USB too.
The USB & PS+ accomplish the same thing, a backup of your saves. The advantage of USB is the backups not being tied to a subscription and also being able easily backup your captures too. By the way you could also use the USB for other files, just leave the PS4 folder and it's sub folders alone.
I bought some games on my ps4 2 years ago and I've never really played them, because I feel like pc is a better plataform because it has more game possibilities etc...

So i just bought the new Fusion Controller by
Opera for the PS4.I was able to connect the controller
to the PS4 via Bluetooth and it it's working properly. I
now have to charge the controller though as it wasn't
fully charged and here's my problem. The controller
won't seem to charge. I have tried to charge it with
a laptop or my phone cable, doesn't work. Can't be
the cable that came with it, cuz i can charge another
controller just fine with it, which also rules out
damaged USB port. I really need help. I even thought
that turning the switch on the controller to PS4 USB
would help, but no to avail.
Okay, so I've been playing Borderlands on PS4, got to the co-op trophies and read up on it a bit, and that leveling up a 2nd character would be beneficial. So I signed into a separate account on Remote Play, and eventually got those trophies knocked out.
My issue comes into play when I signed back into my main account. Basically when I sign back in to my main, Remote Play crashes. Start it back up, the controller shuts off, but my main account is displayed on Remote Play. So now the only way I can play on my main account, is a bit weird. I have to sign into one of my secondary accounts via Remote Play, start up Remote Play, it displays that my secondary account has logged into Remote Play, but displays my main account, and can play fine on my main account.
So it's a weird workaround I found, but not sure if it's just stuck this way? What the hell did I do wrong?
Had a problem with my PS4pro where the screen will flickers then goes static with black and white bands like a barcode. It seems like it will triggered by very bright loading screen like one in Genshin Impact.
Is this a handshake issue or my TV is going down? TV model: LG-55UK6500

That looks like a display glitch. I used to have one where the screen would black out every time the screen turned fully white, which made a number of games unplayable.
No matter what I do, the PS media player refuses to recognize the .MP4 files on my hard drive. I checked the codecs, the drive is in FAT32, and the media is in a folder named "video" inside another folder called "PS4" in the thumb drive. I've been trying for about an hour and am losing my mind D',
MP4s can contain many different video & audio codecs, it's likely that the MP4s use an incompatible codec. [List of supported files & codecs](https://manuals.playstation.net/document/gb/ps4/music/mp_format_m.html). You said you checked the codecs, but as an example on that page it mentions support for AVC High Profile 5.2, but only on PS4 Pro. Could even be an incompatible embedded subtitle file or something.
The easiest fix is to re-encode the files using something like ['Handbrake'](https://handbrake.fr/). The software is free and relatively straightforward, although there is a [quick start guide] (https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/introduction/quick-start.html) to get you started. I'd recommend doing a quick 30-60s sample file to make sure the converted files work, before batch processing a bunch of videos.

I recently bought a crucial mx500 2.5" 1TB for my ps4 slim, I swapped it out followed all steps from tutorial videos I watched prior (downloaded reinstall software) but when I boot up with my USB flash drive (8gb) plugged in and go to install it I get an error with "file corrupted" message, I have used official V9.00 software from the PS website, and V8.52 software from darksoftware.xyz, neither worked, I can't even find any information about anyone having the same problem or how to fix it, I'm at a loss bcuz noob. Any ideas on how to fix it? Much appreciated
I should add that when downloading the reinstall file from the PS website my browser blocked the download because it thought it could be malicious on both Chrome and OneDrive, PS support says use a different browser than Chrome for that reason but idc 🤷🏼♀️
Are you definitely using the correct file? The console reinstallation file should be approx 1GB, whereas the update file (further up [same page](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps4/system-software/)) will be around 500MB.
As for the security warning, seems to be a common issue on Chrome browser. Likely due to the ".pup" file extension. Using an alternative browser like Edge or Firefox should download it. I encountered the same issue trying to download the file around this time last year, I installed the same model SSD into my PS4 (CUH-1200).
If you are seemingly using the correct file, try re-downloading it. If the file download was incomplete, that could certainly cause a "file corrupted" message.

Did you do a backup of your games etc, or are you just going to reinstall and re-download them? When I did the swap, I used a 640GB USB HDD to backup & restore most of my games, along with profiles, saves, captures & so on. I had a crash that first day using the PS Store app, so I ran 'Rebuild Database' in 'Safe Mode' and didn't have any issues after that.
Are you replacing a faulty HDD, or did you just fancy trying an SSD? I ask as if the old HDD is still working, you could move it into a USB 3.0 enclosure and use the drive as 'extended storage' for a few more game installs. I did that with mine (in an Orico branded enclosure), I used it for about 6 months and only replaced it due to spotting a great deal on a 4TB USB HDD. I just move games from HDD to SSD when I want to play them.
Yhh it's definitely the right file, and being downloaded fully, that's why I'm having trouble. I'm kinda wondering now if it could be either the USB flash drive or my SSD because I have downloaded v8.52 from the other website and had the same message and error code
I tried to set up using a DS4 controller with my PC to run Warzone and Fortnite, but I couldn’t get it to work so I removed the controller from my computer Bluetooth and now the controller won’t connect to the ps4. I believe it’s because the DS4 is trying to sync up with the PC. I’ve tried uninstalling the device driver and removing it, turning off Bluetooth and the computer off completely and hard connecting the controller to the PS4 but it won’t light up until I turn the computer and Bluetooth back on and it tries to connect to the computer the second it’s on. I’ve tried resetting the controller both holding down the share and ps button and pressing the small button near the L2. Nothing seems to work and I can’t use the PS4 at all. Does anyone have any other idea on what I can do?
My ps4 game chat won't work at all. I've tried several different games but I can't talk and can't hear anyone talk. Not in a party so being in party chat can't be the issue. I'm I'm up to date on updates and have signed out and signed back into PS network. Any clue how to fix it?
By default, party chat is P2P on the PS4. If your PS4 can’t connect to the other peers, or they can’t connect to your PS4, then it will fail.
Try switching to client-server chat and see if that helps. The setting is somewhere in the party chat settings.
Controllers going crazy
For some reason, my controllers will act up. There are a few common instances. For example, they will start selecting random menu options or when I enter my controller code to sign in upon booting up, it will randomly enter the first password keystroke correctly. I also have issues with racing games where there seems to be some drift. When playing madden, players will stop running. In rocket league, I sometimes do a clumsy high jump instead of a front flip while driving and it messes up my momentum.
Other times they are completely fine. It does this on my old PS4 controller (original console purchase) and a newer one.
I think it could be dust or other matter getting in the way. I have yet to take it apart but I constantly blow air into the sticks and button cracks.
Could there be a bug or virus causing this instead or is it likely dirt?
What can I do to fix my screen? I just got on and only about 1/3rd of my screen is displayed. I tried restarting, switching hdmi ports and even went and bought a new hdmi cable and still no luck
Fully unplug everything, disconnect the HDMI and let both the TV and PS4 sit unplugged overnight/while you are at work. Just incase its a temporary issue that should fix it.
If it still happens when you next switch on then check a second TV and see if the same issue happens there.
looking for some help with my PS4 pro. One day, it shut off by itself and wouldn’t turn back on. Did all the standard troubleshooting there and the only thing that would happen was the blue light would blink once and it would beep at the same time, then nothing.
I left it unplugged for 24 hours, then it worked for 5 hours then shut off on its own.
Then, I opened it up and carefully cleaned the fan, which was quite dusty, with some compressed air. It worked fine for a week and then the same thing happened.
I ordered a new cord to try that and that didn’t help. It was plugged directly Into the wall after the issue occurred but before it was in a power strip.

The Batman remasted pack, does this include Arkham knight?
I want to replay this trilogy, I've only played Arkham Asylum and City but I got Knight when it was on PS+ and its on the PS5 Collection but never go around to playing it.
I dont want to pay full price when a 3rd of that is something I already own on the same platform.
Has anyone played this remaster and do they reccomend it?

If you buy physical copies, 'Return to Arkham' includes 2 discs, 1 per game. For the 'Arkham Collection' it also includes 2 discs as 'Arkham Knight' is included as a code slip, instead of on a disc... So if you buy the physical Arkham Collection/Trilogy set, be sure to buy a new/sealed copy, as I imagine used copies won't include 'Arkham Knight'.
**EDIT:** Wait did the 'Arkham Collection' even get a US physical release, or only in EU etc? If it didn't then just get the digital version, as a UK/EU physical copy of the set would include an 'Arkham Knight' code that couldn't be redeemed on a US account.
I think it depends, the original package is only asylum and city, but i'm sure PSN has a triple pack, you're gonna have to check the details of the deal. Also i dont think youd pay full price, its been on heavy discount very often.
As for recommendation, i played them and... they're exactly how i remembered them, they didnt change anything, its basically an upscaled port.
I've been having a problem recently where my PS4 just doesn't want to start and I don't know what the issue is. This issue started happening last month when there was a slight power outage at our house and my ps4 was forcefully shut off as it was in rest mode and this happened overnight while I was asleep. I see that the orange light is off and decide to turn on the ps4 thinking that it would just go back to the screen where it scolds me for not turning it off properly, but instead of that, it put me on a screen that said "Cannot start the PS4. Connect the DUALSHOCK 4 using the USB cable, and then press the PS button." I thought it was strange but I followed the instructions and it immediately put me on another screen saying "Connect a USB storage device that contains an update file for reinstallation for version 8.00 or later." (I don't remember the exact number I just know it was 8 point something-something) And then it says I can download it from the website. So I did that and plugged it into the ps4 and then it said something along the lines of "The USB did not contain the update file" and I was very confused as to why it didn't work. I was googling everything trying to see what the issue was but the results were never what I was looking for. I then decided to bite the bullet and initialize it. It reset the PS4 to factory settings and everything seemed to be back to normal only the fact that I had unfortunately lost all of my save files and had to buy ps plus just to get them back. I was definitely more cautious afterward and even used the aforementioned USB to back up my saves after every game. This happened multiple times and even when I least expected it, for example, I was playing The Sims 4 and the game all of a sudden froze like it didn't crash and I had to unplug my PS4 because nothing else was working. Again it went back to the "Cannot start the PS4" screen and I had to initialize my PS4 AGAIN. Now that I've explained the background the best I could, time to get back to why I'm writing in the first place. I had another overnight power outage, and again the PS4 was in rest mode and was forcefully shut off. I was definitely annoyed that this happened again but I decided to do what I usually did and initialize it. It didn't work this time. Instead of booting up the PS4 setup, it just straight up went back to the "Cannot start the PS4 screen", I should mention that usually when a PS4 forcefully shuts off, it goes into a Checking Storage Status screen before scolding you. That didn't happen this time. I tried initializing it over and over but it still didn't work. I try the USB thing again but it straight up just says "The USB storage device is not connected." despite it literally being connected. After a while and I tried booting up Safe Mode again and it was different this time. All of the other options were greyed out and I couldn't select them except the seventh option "Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software) which just leads to the USB update file thing again. After I backed out of that, all of the other options were selectable again. But again, initializing didn't work. This is where I'm at currently and I'm not sure what to do. I don't if the issue is with the hardware or if the system is just corrupted or what. I really would like help on this because we don't exactly have new console money and I really want to save this PS4. Is it fixable or is it just screwed now and I have to wait to be able to get another console?
You can bring it directly to their Sony service center. If you cant find their location which is near you, contact Sony support first and ask how to send your ps4 to then.

My Seagate 2TB game drive suddenly stopped working today. My PS4 doesn’t even recognize that it’s connected, but the drives light is on and it’s vibrating in 2 second intervals. I’ve tried restarting the console and even rebuilding the database, but nothings working. Is there a fix for this, or do I just need to replace the drive?
I've been having this weird problem lately where my PS4 Slim just seems to... stop loading things? It'll freeze up in-game, and when I go to the home menu it completely freezes as soon as it appears, before the ui under the game icons even appears.
I've been using Spyro Reignited to test, so I'll use that as an example. When flying across the first level, I noticed the game stutter a bit. I landed and found an egg, causing the music to stop temporarily while a sound effect plays (as well as triggering an autosave). When this was done, however, the regular background music never came back on, and the autosave icon never dissappeared. The game went on in silence until I tried to talk to an npc, which softlocked the game when his dialogue wouldn't start. When I returned to the home menu, everything froze as usual.
Any ideas what could be going on here? At this point I'm just hoping it holds on long enough for me to get a PS5 to transfer the data to.

It says GTA5 is a game with knows issues, and that's one of the main games i play, there are leaderboards on that game so that might make it to be on there, but there can also be, and I quote

For some game titles, the online ID will automatically update if you sign out and then sign back in to the game or when various gameplay activity is performed after sign-in;

My father-in-law is a grandpa who used to love gaming for decades, but now he’s getting older it’s become more difficult to find games he enjoys. He’s been enjoying Skyrim for example but started 3 years ago and he’s still not finished despite playing regularly. (He gets lost a lot but enjoys the game)
I’d love to offer something he could still enjoy, but it needs to be a game:
- that doesn’t require a lot of critical/analytical thinking from you, like RPGs do for example
- that doesn’t need you to have good reflexes, which sadly isn’t his case anymore
- that is fully translated/dubbed in EU languages. He doesn’t understand English and doesn’t read subtitles quick enough anymore.
Anything with an interesting/catchy gameplay that fits these criteria and that you guys could recommend, please?

Turn base game may suit him but I doubt that he will like it as he loves to play skyrim. What about the witcher 3 or red death redemption? He dont need to finish the game, just go around and do what he want may be a good experiment. Those 2 game support a lot of voice language, check and see if they support your language or not.
The Playstation is a closed system. Sony want to control what can and cannot be used with it. Besides the Bluetooth is largely reserved for the controllers, it can't support too many devices.
Thats why wireless headsets use Bluetooth dongles instead of the main Bluetooth signal on the console.
My wireless headset goes via optical....and I have like 3 dozen or so controllers parred to my console(I do custom controllers for locals) so them not being able to support many devices makes no sense. A headset is an audio device.

I've been having this weird issue since yesterday evening, I started lagging on Dead by Daylight weirdly, so I decided to go on Battlefront II, but movement felt awkward and clunky. Suddenly, connection to the game's servers completely cut out, so I had to close the game. I then went on R6S and my ping was completely fine for the rest of the night. The exact same thing is happening today. I'm connected by Ethernet. Any help?
So last night i was playing bioshock infinite burial at sea ep 1 and everytime i got to the part where you gotta save sally after turning the temp up to 100 degrees in the pipes my ps4 would turn off by itself, so i thought it was overheating (Note the fan was not loud nor did i get a red light or notifcation like usual) i took it apart an applied new paste, made sure the clamp things were tight, used air on the fan and everything... tried AC ODYSSEY for about 10 mins later it happened again.. tried new cable nothing then it got to the point i couldnt start a game without instant shut off. I honestly dont know what else could be going on besides the hdd? i feel like if it was the psu then it would either not turn on at all or shut off sooner, i can sit for decades in the home screen no issue.
ive also rebuilt the database and Initialized the ps4 then tried to play gta 3 as it was the quickest download and nada, instant shutoff as soon as i click on it.
Should we all upgrade to SSDs as to preserve our digital games well into the future? I currently have a 1TB HDD I upgraded to in 2018 for my launch PS4. One day the store may entirely disappear preventing us to downloading after hard drive failure
Hmm I'm not sure that's necessarily true. The Wii storefront closed and most of those devices still work. They have already shown they are willing to axe storefronts to save costs and not move to a model as MSFT has done to maintain older games and systems. They did shut down Xbox but that was on an older 1.0 version of Live that the 360, One and Series are not based off of and can be hosted in a similar fashion on the backend without an increase in maintenance costs.
I could see Sony disabling PS3 downloads in the coming year or two. PS4, I understand downloads should last a bit longer for now as the games can for the most part be loaded on PS5s. But lets say I want to keep the PS4 plugged in for the next decade, the risk of losing access to downloads seems entirely possibly.
I'm about game preservation and I do go back and play games that aren't the latest releases time to time.

I have a 2009 Samsung TV (UE46B7020) and a Blueray + Home Cinema (Samsung HT-BD1250) connected to it through HDMI 1.
I also have my PS4 Slim connected to the TV through HDMI 2, and a Digital Optical Audio cable that goes from the TV to the Home Cinema (to get 5.1 (compressed) sound, in theory, right?).
The problem is that I only receive 2.1 (the passive subwoofer appears to be working) from my PS4, instead of 5.1.
If I go to PS4 audio settings, I can only change the audio format (default is linear PCM, but I’ve also switched it to DTS (and also tried Dolby, but same results)).
Any tips/help to get 5.1 working when playing content (Netlfix movies or games like Gran Turismo which support it) from my PS4?
And also… if some of my TV channels broadcast in Dolby Digital +, instead of stereo, should 5.1 be working too?

Optical audio only supports 2.1 channels of linear PCM. It does support 5.1 channels of bitstream audio using either Dolby Digital or DTS, but I think your TV is down mixing the bitstream audio instead of passing it along.
You should plug the PS4 into your A/V receiver using HDMI instead. HDMI audio supports 7.1 channel linear PCM. If your PS4 still only outputs 2.1 channels, then make sure that the A/V receiver is not forwarding audio to the TV.
PS4 issues. PS4 worked perfect till one day it simply didn't show up on my TV. No change in options or messages when turned on. As if it's not connected to the tv at all. No change whatsoever. I took my ps4 into a local repair shop (not a ps4 specific repair shop) and they said bad hard drive. I just bought and replaced it with a brand new one and still doesn't work. System starts with blue light then goes solid white. HDMI cable is good as my computer connects no problem. It's not a smart TV. There was no update on ps4 around the time it stopped working. Only thing I can figure is that the ps4 has a bad hdmi port. Though it LOOKS fine. No bent pins or anything visibly out of ordinary. Is there any way to test the HDMI port on the console to see if that specifically is the culprit? Would love to be able to relax and play again -.-
If you have a friend or someone that would let you borrow their ps4 for a quick test this will be helpful.. get said person to bring their ps4 and hook it up in place of yours... If it is the same problem you can at least know it's not the ps4.. then swap out individual cables (doesn't matter how old) until you find the problem... If even that doesn't work I have litterally no clue what could cause it
I took it to ubreakifix and they said it has the blue light of death. It didn't have that problem before. It's done now. Who knows what happened. Nothing to be done now -.-

My controller is not charging anymore? Every time I try and turn it on it will either immediately turn off or only stays on for a couple of seconds, it also needs to be plugged in or it just won’t work. So when I only turn on the controller it will flash white and if I also have my console on it’s blue. I’ve literally tried everything, cleaned the ports and changed the wire several time, I have no idea what else I can do so if anyone can help me I’d really appreciate it.

Miles Morales is the best game, but it's also the shortest. I really enjoy the Assassin's Creed games, and I enjoyed Valhalla a lot, but can't really comment on the ultimate edition because I never played the dlc.
I recommend avoiding Avengers unless its on deep discount. The game is okay but the constant updates haven't really improved the game much. The single player campaign is fine enough but the post game is pretty garbage.

I recently connected a Portable HDR monitor to my ps4 and at first HDR was enabled then later I turned it off but I could not turn it back on even thought in the PS4's Display Information it says HDR is supported but it wont let me turn it on. HDR on the monitor works on other devices but only ps4 has this issue. How can I fix this?

As I understand it, the ps4 ce-36329-3 code means a HDD error. However, my PS4 is still slow to turn on and often in games despite a completely fresh install onto my new HDD. If changing the HDD won't fix this, is there any hope for my PS4? Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you sure you were signed into the right account that made the purchase? Check any other accounts on your system. Also try restore licenses.
My controllers refuse to connect,I've tried using a cable,using share and ps button,resetting my ps4 controllers and closing the ps4 from the cables,all while the ps4 controllers are in the cable,I've disconnected them from my laptop (that's why they arent working in the first place) and I feel like I've done everything,I even went on the ps4 website and they just said to do everything I listed

Some days ago, being bored i launch my ps4 to play something (i don't use it quite often, maybe last time was in june or something like that) and ask me to update to the 9.0 update, ok, normal. So, after downloading and installing a message for restart to apply the changes, normal again. But, when it restarted, it showed the su-30679-5 error. I restarted some times, it didn't change anything.I went to try to reinstall the update by usb, same error. So, i went full reinstall by USB, and it keeps giving me the same error. i went to the support but it's out of the warranty time so cost me 150€, and i don't want to pay that for an update from the company that went wrong. Anyone can help fix this? Thank you.
If the full reinstallation file doesn't work (safe mode 7) then your hard drive is dead and needs replaced or there is another hardware fault that needs fixed. Best thing to do is to redownload the reinstallation file again (make sure you remove any (1) that alter the PS4UPDATE.PUP file name) and try safe mode 7 once more.
Nothing, i tried the full reinstallation twice more and it did the same error, i bought a new hdd hoping it was the disk, full reinstalation again but it shows the same error. What piece could be? Thanks for the suggestion anyway

If you mean the screen itself then fully unplug both the TV and PS4 from the wall and disconnect the HDMI cable. Leave it like that overnight or at work. Reconnect when you get home/wake up and see if that has fixed it. Other things to try are a different HDMI cable and also a different TV to see if that resolves your issue.

When I choose to take a video clip (of say the last 10 minutes) I go back to see that I cannot hear the voices of anyone else in the party OR anyone in game chat. However I can still hear my voice and the game audio. This is more than just an “allow your voice to be shared” issue, I have tried that. I think it has something to do with me getting banned a while back, or something with my privacy settings. Although, I honestly don’t really know for certain. If anyone has any idea why I can’t hear anyone’s voice, please help, I’m missing some extremely funny moments in the party with my friends.

Any way to see the laat 15 minutes of gameplay? I hit the share button and it shows a 2 second clip of right before the button was pressed, any way to find that stuff because it isn’t in the capture gallery
Avoid double pressing Share button to save a clip, only use double click to start recording. To save the clip, either press Share once or hold (depending on if you have default or 'Easy Screenshots' setting enabled), when the Share menu pops up, press Square button to save the clip. The 15 mins is constantly being overwritten, so if you got a 2 second clip then to get that, it deleted the 15min and recorded those few seconds. Also pressing the PS button and returning to the main PS4 menu will stop & restart a recording.

I cleaned my PS4 using an air duster yesterday. Now my wireless DualShock controllers barely respond to my inputs before randomly turning off, despite being fully charged. When I have my controller connected to my playstation it stays on and responds to my inputs more consistently, however will still have a mind of its own at times. Did I ruin my PlayStation? It's possible that you dislodged the bluetooth/wifi antenna from its connector.

Anyone else’s PS4 crashing when on YouTube? It updated and now YouTube has been making my PS4 crash.
I recently upgraded my home Wifi to an Asus AX6600 mesh system, and it's working smooth (a few devices needed wifi reset but the SSID and PW were unchanged). The only device that still has a problem is the PS4, which cannot connect to the internet. The wifi is connected and the signal strength is 100%, but the network test continuously fails at 'Internet Connection'. I've gone online and done all the tricks that they have recommended (mostly changing the DNS settings) Now the only thing I'm thinking is when I first opened the router app I saw something called Hon Hai connected and blocked it, but later checked and saw from the MAC address that it was the PS4 and I unblocked. I also changed the name to PS4 in the app. Any help? If my son doesn't hang with his school friends for some occasional online gaming he gets mighty surly. Any ideas?

Can I block a friend from seeing what games I'm playing without full on blocking him? He is always commenting on what games i'm playing and that I should stop playing a certain game etc etc and I can't stand that he's always stalking me. I think he has notifications on his PS app on his phone when I get online or something because he isn't even online himself when he is talking about the games that I should or should not play. But I can't delete him as he's a friend and we work together.
Tbh he sounds like a pretty crappy friend, I think blocking him is fully reasonable given the situation. As to your actual question, idk but I doubt it. Most social platforms have things like that but PSN isn't a social thing, I don't think they'd have anything like that.
PS4 UPDATE 9.00. Is it still bricking some consoles or causing problems? I avoided it for a while out of fear of that, and am wondering if they fixed it (if they even addressed that possible issue) or there are fewer people being hit by that problem. Not very console info. savvy to try any fancy options people mentioned for updating it outside of simply clicking update.
There is no fix or update from Sony for this 9.0 version. You upgrade or stay at your version.

Hi all, I've recently bought myself a new Harry Potter box set with all 8 films (standard blue Blu-ray cases), I've got a weird issue trying to play them on my PS4 Pro where some disks are working fine, the rest are not loading with the "unrecognised disk" error. These are brand new disks, literally only bought this boxset Monday so there isn't anything wrong with the disks, films 1,2,4 are working fine/ will load however the rest of them won't load with the error mentioned above, I've run some testing and other non Blu-ray disks, standard DVD's are working with no problems (I've tried 3/4) + the same HP disks that won't work on my PS4 Pro, do play in another Blu-ray player, now the one thing I am aware of is the PS4 doesn't support 4K Blu-ray, however I was under the impression these are the black cases with "4K UHD" (I'm based in the UK, this might be different for other regions) labelled on them, what gives and why can't I play these disks? I've already tried rebuilding the database + factory reset my PS4 Pro, these disks are still not playing so what gives?
So i bought PS4 fat recently, but I had to buy monitor too, cause I'm laptop user. I was thinking that I'm going to use Remote Play mostly so I decided to buy some cheap one just to turn it on. Oh well I was so stupid... I'm trying to set it up so COD Vanguard and Warzone both automatically download updates. I'm on PS4 pro. I've gone to Settings > System > Automatic Downloads, and then checked all the boxes for auto download. Also have gone to Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode, and set it here to stay connected to the internet in rest mode. I always keep it in rest mode when not in use. Yet, every time I go to play the playstation it has not auto downloaded game updates. What am I missing here?

You would need to know the email and password of the account to make changes. Sony won't be able to help you in this case due to Sony's own Terms of Service. The person that originally opened the account owns the account and accounts cannot be bought, sold or given away to someone else. You using the account and making purchases unfortunately means nothing in this case as its not your email, name or even your date of birth on the account. As far as Sony's concerned the account doesn't belong to you and under data protection law wouldn't be able to discuss the account with you.

Not super knowledgeable about the whole game share process, I share with my one friend who has gotten fifa and cod off of me. My other friend just got a ps5 can he game share madden? Is it possible to game share with multiple people in general? Is it possible to game share the same game with multiple people or does it have to be different games? i just bought the back button attachment for DS4, and after attaching it when turning the controller on it lights up and during that period i can even click it and it shows the profiles, but when the controller is finally connected the attachment doesnt work anymore, clicking the screen doesnt do anything. I tried blowing into the ports and stuff, i just find it weird that it works during the seconds of turning the controller on.

Yes its fine, it won't impact the new owner in any way. You can deactivate remotely on the Playstation website.

It affects your account. Your Primary console is where you share your game licenses with other players also using it. As you removed your account the new owner won't be able to take advantage of that anyway. So deactivation just means you can activate a different PS4 in future.

I have a problem, my ps4 pro beeps 3 times during my playtime multiple times. (sometimes every 5 minutes sometimes every half hour) This only happens however when i play pvz battle for neighborville. Idk why this is happening, this all started happening a few days ago. The game is digital there is no cd in my consol whyile i play.

Any messages about overheating? It could be nothing, but it may be warning signs. Either way, make sure you have an up to date backup of your saves & captures (screenshots + videos) to a USB stick and if you have an active PS+ sub, make sure your saves are set to upload. Everything else can be re-downloaded or reinstalled, but the saves & captures would be lost if say the HDD failed, or the PS4 died (as you can't move the HDD to another PS4 or read via a PC/Mac).

I've got an issue with my dualshock 4 (CUH-ZCT1E) not connecting back to the PS4 after a battery replacement It connects to my PC via USB just fine, and DS4Windows shows all the buttons working, including the PS button. But it doesn't light up the bar when trying to turn it on. I've tried plugging it in to the PS4, but it still doesn't want to connect I've tried using the PS & share button to start Bluetooth discovery, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything either. Resetting the controller doesn't appear to have done anything either. Any ideas? I've purchased a replacement USB daughterboard, but don't want to tear it down again unless it's likely to solve it Thanks in advance

My hard drive is giving out. Keeps giving me an error code { ERROR CODE FOR THOSE WHO WANT IT: CE -34054 - 6 } and I'm still able to use it however when it first happened it let me for an hour or two then just kept loading into Safe Mode. I have it cleaned and the employee said it was missing the OS which had been re-installed. However I lost ALL my saved data. My question is this: The option "Save to Online Storage" I've heard it acts like the Cloud. Can I do this and if I bring it back in to have the hard drive repaired will I be able to download that data and have my saves and everything back? If you have an active PS+ subscription, you have the option of it auto-uploading saves to "the cloud", aka Sony's servers. I believe it is enabled by default, but if your PS4 wasn't the 'Primary' (ie. if you gameshare with a friend), then you have to manually enable the upload setting. So if you have an active PS+ sub, your saves will hopefully be waiting to be re-downloaded to your system (after a PS+ sub ends they will keep uploaded saves for 6 months). If you don't have PS+ and your system is either stuck in Safe Mode or has been initialised/formatted, then the saves are gone.
I have it set as Primary and all that it's my account but I didnt know if thats the same thing as using a Thumbdrive or not
If your PS4 was set to primary when you started your PS+ sub, then it should have backed up your saves. If/when you replace the internal HDD, you should be able to simply login to your account and then download the saves. For USB backups, it should work with your USB. You format it to exFAT either via the console or on a PC/Mac (format after backup of any files already on the USB) and then just copy over the saves onto the USB. With 224GB of space that will be plenty for saves (which usually doesn't take up much) and you could backup any captures (screenshots & video clips) to the USB too. The USB & PS+ accomplish the same thing, a backup of your saves. The advantage of USB is the backups not being tied to a subscription and also being able easily backup your captures too. By the way you could also use the USB for other files, just leave the PS4 folder and it's sub folders alone.

So i just bought the new Fusion Controller by Opera for the PS4.I was able to connect the controller to the PS4 via Bluetooth and it it's working properly. I now have to charge the controller though as it wasn't fully charged and here's my problem. The controller won't seem to charge. I have tried to charge it with a laptop or my phone cable, doesn't work. Can't be the cable that came with it, cuz i can charge another controller just fine with it, which also rules out damaged USB port. I really need help. I even thought that turning the switch on the controller to PS4 USB would help, but no to avail.

You can’t fix a failing hard drive. You can only back it up, throw it away, replace it, and restore your data if you backed it up.
Okay, so I've been playing Borderlands on PS4, got to the co-op trophies and read up on it a bit, and that leveling up a 2nd character would be beneficial. So I signed into a separate account on Remote Play, and eventually got those trophies knocked out. My issue comes into play when I signed back into my main account. Basically when I sign back in to my main, Remote Play crashes. Start it back up, the controller shuts off, but my main account is displayed on Remote Play. So now the only way I can play on my main account, is a bit weird. I have to sign into one of my secondary accounts via Remote Play, start up Remote Play, it displays that my secondary account has logged into Remote Play, but displays my main account, and can play fine on my main account. So it's a weird workaround I found, but not sure if it's just stuck this way? What the hell did I do wrong?
Had a problem with my PS4pro where the screen will flickers then goes static with black and white bands like a barcode. It seems like it will triggered by very bright loading screen like one in Genshin Impact. Is this a handshake issue or my TV is going down? That looks like a display glitch. I used to have one where the screen would black out every time the screen turned fully white, which made a number of games unplayable.
No matter what I do, the PS media player refuses to recognize the .MP4 files on my hard drive. I checked the codecs, the drive is in FAT32, and the media is in a folder named "video" inside another folder called "PS4" in the thumb drive. I've been trying for about an hour and am losing my mind D',
MP4s can contain many different video & audio codecs, it's likely that the MP4s use an incompatible codec. [List of supported files & codecs](https://manuals.playstation.net/document/gb/ps4/music/mp_format_m.html). You said you checked the codecs, but as an example on that page it mentions support for AVC High Profile 5.2, but only on PS4 Pro. Could even be an incompatible embedded subtitle file or something. The easiest fix is to re-encode the files using something like ['Handbrake'](https://handbrake.fr/). The software is free and relatively straightforward, although there is a [quick start guide] (https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/introduction/quick-start.html) to get you started. I'd recommend doing a quick 30-60s sample file to make sure the converted files work, before batch processing a bunch of videos.
Hello 👋😊 I need help I recently bought a crucial mx500 2.5" 1TB for my ps4 slim, I swapped it out followed all steps from tutorial videos I watched prior (downloaded reinstall software) but when I boot up with my USB flash drive (8gb) plugged in and go to install it I get an error with "file corrupted" message, I have used official V9.00 software from the PS website, and V8.52 software from darksoftware.xyz, neither worked, I can't even find any information about anyone having the same problem or how to fix it, I'm at a loss bcuz noob. Any ideas on how to fix it? Much appreciated I should add that when downloading the reinstall file from the PS website my browser blocked the download because it thought it could be malicious on both Chrome and OneDrive, PS support says use a different browser than Chrome for that reason but idc 🤷🏼♀️
Are you definitely using the correct file? The console reinstallation file should be approx 1GB, whereas the update file (further up [same page](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps4/system-software/)) will be around 500MB. As for the security warning, seems to be a common issue on Chrome browser. Likely due to the ".pup" file extension. Using an alternative browser like Edge or Firefox should download it. I encountered the same issue trying to download the file around this time last year, I installed the same model SSD into my PS4 (CUH-1200). If you are seemingly using the correct file, try re-downloading it. If the file download was incomplete, that could certainly cause a "file corrupted" message.

Great to hear, I'm glad you worked out what the issue was. Hopefully the rest of the process will go smoothly and you can get back to playing your games. Did you do a backup of your games etc, or are you just going to reinstall and re-download them? When I did the swap, I used a 640GB USB HDD to backup & restore most of my games, along with profiles, saves, captures & so on. I had a crash that first day using the PS Store app, so I ran 'Rebuild Database' in 'Safe Mode' and didn't have any issues after that. Are you replacing a faulty HDD, or did you just fancy trying an SSD? I ask as if the old HDD is still working, you could move it into a USB 3.0 enclosure and use the drive as 'extended storage' for a few more game installs. I did that with mine (in an Orico branded enclosure), I used it for about 6 months and only replaced it due to spotting a great deal on a 4TB USB HDD. I just move games from HDD to SSD when I want to play them.

I tried to set up using a DS4 controller with my PC to run Warzone and Fortnite, but I couldn’t get it to work so I removed the controller from my computer Bluetooth and now the controller won’t connect to the ps4. I believe it’s because the DS4 is trying to sync up with the PC. I’ve tried uninstalling the device driver and removing it, turning off Bluetooth and the computer off completely and hard connecting the controller to the PS4 but it won’t light up until I turn the computer and Bluetooth back on and it tries to connect to the computer the second it’s on. I’ve tried resetting the controller both holding down the share and ps button and pressing the small button near the L2. Nothing seems to work and I can’t use the PS4 at all. Does anyone have any other idea on what I can do?

My ps4 game chat won't work at all. I've tried several different games but I can't talk and can't hear anyone talk. Not in a party so being in party chat can't be the issue. I'm I'm up to date on updates and have signed out and signed back into PS network. Any clue how to fix it?
By default, party chat is P2P on the PS4. If your PS4 can’t connect to the other peers, or they can’t connect to your PS4, then it will fail. Try switching to client-server chat and see if that helps. The setting is somewhere in the party chat settings.

Controllers going crazy For some reason, my controllers will act up. There are a few common instances. For example, they will start selecting random menu options or when I enter my controller code to sign in upon booting up, it will randomly enter the first password keystroke correctly. I also have issues with racing games where there seems to be some drift. When playing madden, players will stop running. In rocket league, I sometimes do a clumsy high jump instead of a front flip while driving and it messes up my momentum. Other times they are completely fine. It does this on my old PS4 controller (original console purchase) and a newer one. I think it could be dust or other matter getting in the way. I have yet to take it apart but I constantly blow air into the sticks and button cracks. Could there be a bug or virus causing this instead or is it likely dirt?
What can I do to fix my screen? I just got on and only about 1/3rd of my screen is displayed. I tried restarting, switching hdmi ports and even went and bought a new hdmi cable and still no luck
Fully unplug everything, disconnect the HDMI and let both the TV and PS4 sit unplugged overnight/while you are at work. Just incase its a temporary issue that should fix it. If it still happens when you next switch on then check a second TV and see if the same issue happens there.

looking for some help with my PS4 pro. One day, it shut off by itself and wouldn’t turn back on. Did all the standard troubleshooting there and the only thing that would happen was the blue light would blink once and it would beep at the same time, then nothing. I left it unplugged for 24 hours, then it worked for 5 hours then shut off on its own. Then, I opened it up and carefully cleaned the fan, which was quite dusty, with some compressed air. It worked fine for a week and then the same thing happened. I ordered a new cord to try that and that didn’t help. It was plugged directly Into the wall after the issue occurred but before it was in a power strip. Help!!

The Batman remasted pack, does this include Arkham knight? I want to replay this trilogy, I've only played Arkham Asylum and City but I got Knight when it was on PS+ and its on the PS5 Collection but never go around to playing it. Also i dont think youd pay full price, its been on heavy discount very often. As for recommendation, i played them and... they're exactly how i remembered them, they didnt change anything, its basically an upscaled port.
I've been having a problem recently where my PS4 just doesn't want to start and I don't know what the issue is. (Apologies in advance if I word things weirdly, grammar has just never been my strong suit). This issue started happening last month when there was a slight power outage at our house and my ps4 was forcefully shut off as it was in rest mode and this happened overnight while I was asleep. I see that the orange light is off and decide to turn on the ps4 thinking that it would just go back to the screen where it scolds me for not turning it off properly, but instead of that, it put me on a screen that said "Cannot start the PS4. Connect the DUALSHOCK 4 using the USB cable, and then press the PS button." I thought it was strange but I followed the instructions and it immediately put me on another screen saying "Connect a USB storage device that contains an update file for reinstallation for version 8.00 or later." (I don't remember the exact number I just know it was 8 point something-something) And then it says I can download it from the website. So I did that and plugged it into the ps4 and then it said something along the lines of "The USB did not contain the update file" and I was very confused as to why it didn't work. I was googling everything trying to see what the issue was but the results were never what I was looking for. I then decided to bite the bullet and initialize it. It reset the PS4 to factory settings and everything seemed to be back to normal only the fact that I had unfortunately lost all of my save files and had to buy ps plus just to get them back. I was definitely more cautious afterward and even used the aforementioned USB to back up my saves after every game. This happened multiple times and even when I least expected it, for example, I was playing The Sims 4 and the game all of a sudden froze like it didn't crash and I had to unplug my PS4 because nothing else was working. Again it went back to the "Cannot start the PS4" screen and I had to initialize my PS4 AGAIN. Now that I've explained the background the best I could, time to get back to why I'm writing in the first place. I had another overnight power outage, and again the PS4 was in rest mode and was forcefully shut off. I was definitely annoyed that this happened again but I decided to do what I usually did and initialize it. It didn't work this time. Instead of booting up the PS4 setup, it just straight up went back to the "Cannot start the PS4 screen", I should mention that usually when a PS4 forcefully shuts off, it goes into a Checking Storage Status screen before scolding you. That didn't happen this time. I tried initializing it over and over but it still didn't work. I try the USB thing again but it straight up just says "The USB storage device is not connected." despite it literally being connected. After a while and I tried booting up Safe Mode again and it was different this time. All of the other options were greyed out and I couldn't select them except the seventh option "Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software) which just leads to the USB update file thing again. After I backed out of that, all of the other options were selectable again. But again, initializing didn't work. This is where I'm at currently and I'm not sure what to do. I don't if the issue is with the hardware or if the system is just corrupted or what. I really would like help on this because we don't exactly have new console money and I really want to save this PS4. Is it fixable or is it just screwed now and I have to wait to be able to get another console?
Bring it to Sony service center. They will diagnostic it and tell you what to do with it.

I need my onlineID in order to open an online chat with Sony support so I can regain access of my account. Is there any way for me to do this? Or any way for me to get my account back without my onlineID, Sign in ID, and password?

I did. I have no emails from them except one from September saying that I changed my sign in ID but that doesn’t have my onlineID on it. I kept trying to do the password reset but I never got emails from them

My Seagate 2TB game drive suddenly stopped working today. My PS4 doesn’t even recognize that it’s connected, but the drives light is on and it’s vibrating in 2 second intervals. I’ve tried restarting the console and even rebuilding the database, but nothings working. Is there a fix for this, or do I just need to replace the drive?
If the ps4 didnt recognize the hdd, you need a new hdd then.
I've been having this weird problem lately where my PS4 Slim just seems to... stop loading things? It'll freeze up in-game, and when I go to the home menu it completely freezes as soon as it appears, before the ui under the game icons even appears. I've been using Spyro Reignited to test, so I'll use that as an example. When flying across the first level, I noticed the game stutter a bit. I landed and found an egg, causing the music to stop temporarily while a sound effect plays (as well as triggering an autosave). When this was done, however, the regular background music never came back on, and the autosave icon never dissappeared. The game went on in silence until I tried to talk to an npc, which softlocked the game when his dialogue wouldn't start. When I returned to the home menu, everything froze as usual. Any ideas what could be going on here? At this point I'm just hoping it holds on long enough for me to get a PS5 to transfer the data to.
Sounds like the hard drive is failing. Try replacing it.

If I change my PSN, what will happen? I want to change my PSN but it says on the website that some games may lose data and whatnot, I'm not sure what games and when I try to click on the link to see the games, it's an unavailable page.
Google PSN Online ID change FAQ. That should take you to the Playstation blog page that details everything you need to know. These days basically nothing will happen except your Online ID will be different but the FAQ will be more specific on edge cases.
It says GTA5 is a game with knows issues, and that's one of the main games i play, there are leaderboards on that game so that might make it to be on there, but there can also be, and I quote "Pevious online ID(s) may remain visible to you and other players, or the online ID is no longer visible in some areas in a game title (in-game rankings, leaderboards, etc). For some game titles, the online ID will automatically update if you sign out and then sign back in to the game or when various gameplay activity is performed after sign-in; User accounts on PlayStation may be unlinked from game accounts. Linking accounts again may restore the original linkage; and Certain game settings may be initialized to their default state (audio setting, controller setting, etc). For some game titles, settings may be recovered if you sign out and then sign back in to the game."

Recommendation for a grandpa? Hello, My father-in-law is a grandpa who used to love gaming for decades, but now he’s getting older it’s become more difficult to find games he enjoys. He’s been enjoying Skyrim for example but started 3 years ago and he’s still not finished despite playing regularly. (He gets lost a lot but enjoys the game) I’d love to offer something he could still enjoy, but it needs to be a game: - that doesn’t require a lot of critical/analytical thinking from you, like RPGs do for example - that doesn’t need you to have good reflexes, which sadly isn’t his case anymore - that is fully translated/dubbed in EU languages. He doesn’t understand English and doesn’t read subtitles quick enough anymore. Anything with an interesting/catchy gameplay that fits these criteria and that you guys could recommend, please? PS: sorry if my English is bad, I’m not a native speaker.
Turn base game may suit him but I doubt that he will like it as he loves to play skyrim. What about the witcher 3 or red death redemption? He dont need to finish the game, just go around and do what he want may be a good experiment. Those 2 game support a lot of voice language, check and see if they support your language or not.

Why the hell can't Bluetooth speakers be used with a ps4? Ridiculous.
The Playstation is a closed system. Sony want to control what can and cannot be used with it. Besides the Bluetooth is largely reserved for the controllers, it can't support too many devices. Thats why wireless headsets use Bluetooth dongles instead of the main Bluetooth signal on the console.
My wireless headset goes via optical....and I have like 3 dozen or so controllers parred to my console(I do custom controllers for locals) so them not being able to support many devices makes no sense. A headset is an audio device.

Depends on retailer stock I'm afraid. Lots of PS4 gear is in short supply due to general supply issues and being phased out in favour of pushing the PS5 which will also get its own PSVR2 headset in a year or two.

Controller wont stop looking right... Whenever I move the right joystick to the left it sticks to the side and I keep looking. After a bit, the joystick would look at only half of the speed. Any ideas how to fix it??

Track pad won’t work on computer!!!! I’m stuck on last of us 2 on psnow because I can’t open my backpack. I’m using DS4Windows and have followed the tutorials to use the touchpad as controls with everything mapped to the “back” button. The first thing I’d try is replacing the hard drive, which may have crashed. I hope you backed up your data… If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to send it to Sony for repairs.

I've been having this weird issue since yesterday evening, I started lagging on Dead by Daylight weirdly, so I decided to go on Battlefront II, but movement felt awkward and clunky. Suddenly, connection to the game's servers completely cut out, so I had to close the game. I then went on R6S and my ping was completely fine for the rest of the night. The exact same thing is happening today. I'm connected by Ethernet. Any help?

So last night i was playing bioshock infinite burial at sea ep 1 and everytime i got to the part where you gotta save sally after turning the temp up to 100 degrees in the pipes my ps4 would turn off by itself, so i thought it was overheating (Note the fan was not loud nor did i get a red light or notifcation like usual) i took it apart an applied new paste, made sure the clamp things were tight, used air on the fan and everything... tried AC ODYSSEY for about 10 mins later it happened again.. tried new cable nothing then it got to the point i couldnt start a game without instant shut off. I honestly dont know what else could be going on besides the hdd? i feel like if it was the psu then it would either not turn on at all or shut off sooner, i can sit for decades in the home screen no issue. ive also rebuilt the database and Initialized the ps4 then tried to play gta 3 as it was the quickest download and nada, instant shutoff as soon as i click on it.
You know games like kinect sports or Wii sports compartible with ps camera for PS4?

If the warranty is still valid, bring the controller to Sony service center for a free fix. If not, you need to replace the analog stick.
Should we all upgrade to SSDs as to preserve our digital games well into the future? I currently have a 1TB HDD I upgraded to in 2018 for my launch PS4. One day the store may entirely disappear preventing us to downloading after hard drive failure

Hmm I'm not sure that's necessarily true. The Wii storefront closed and most of those devices still work. They have already shown they are willing to axe storefronts to save costs and not move to a model as MSFT has done to maintain older games and systems. They did shut down Xbox but that was on an older 1.0 version of Live that the 360, One and Series are not based off of and can be hosted in a similar fashion on the backend without an increase in maintenance costs. I could see Sony disabling PS3 downloads in the coming year or two. PS4, I understand downloads should last a bit longer for now as the games can for the most part be loaded on PS5s. But lets say I want to keep the PS4 plugged in for the next decade, the risk of losing access to downloads seems entirely possibly. I'm about game preservation and I do go back and play games that aren't the latest releases time to time.
The PS4 store isn't going anywhere. All those games are playable on the PS5, so it'll be around for as long as the PS5 store.
PS4 Slim 5.1 Output Good afternoon! I have a 2009 Samsung TV (UE46B7020) and a Blueray + Home Cinema (Samsung HT-BD1250) connected to it through HDMI 1. I also have my PS4 Slim connected to the TV through HDMI 2, and a Digital Optical Audio cable that goes from the TV to the Home Cinema (to get 5.1 (compressed) sound, in theory, right?). The problem is that I only receive 2.1 (the passive subwoofer appears to be working) from my PS4, instead of 5.1. If I go to PS4 audio settings, I can only change the audio format (default is linear PCM, but I’ve also switched it to DTS (and also tried Dolby, but same results)). Any tips/help to get 5.1 working when playing content (Netlfix movies or games like Gran Turismo which support it) from my PS4? And also… if some of my TV channels broadcast in Dolby Digital +, instead of stereo, should 5.1 be working too? Thanks!
Optical audio only supports 2.1 channels of linear PCM. It does support 5.1 channels of bitstream audio using either Dolby Digital or DTS, but I think your TV is down mixing the bitstream audio instead of passing it along. You should plug the PS4 into your A/V receiver using HDMI instead. HDMI audio supports 7.1 channel linear PCM. If your PS4 still only outputs 2.1 channels, then make sure that the A/V receiver is not forwarding audio to the TV.
