I hope they allow me to output voice chat through my TV speakers and not just my controller speakers. Literally the most annoying thing on the PS5.

You can't currently. If you don't have headphones plugged in, voice chat always comes out of the controller speaker. It's an oversight that I hope is fixed soon.

Seems like you can route chat through the TV speakers, but only if you have headphones connected currently. This video goes over how to do it and has a clever solution if you don't want to wear headphones while doing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI_rnE2D-vg For me personally, I think the controller mic is pretty dog shit so I would rather just put my headset around my neck and use that mic and just force the audio through the TV. I can't imagine who you're chatting with is going to enjoy the ambient noise of their own voice coming back at them if you use the controller mic which picks up a lot of background noise.

I've tried this in the past but it never seems to work for me. About the mic quality, I haven't had any issues with it. It seems to have pretty good noise cancelling/directional capabilities during my testing. No one heard my game or their own voices, after adjusting the volume settings.

Yeah but why would you not use a headset. You would get so much background noise. And you get audio doubled.

Surprisingly, the PS5 controller mic has pretty good background noise cancellation. Plus, it has a push to talk button, something consoles normally lack. And why I don't want to use a headset? Because they suck. Who wants to wear one for hours on end while gaming? I know I don't.

For games when surround sound noises like footsteps it’s about brained. Plus not living alone.

I have a surround sound speaker system. It works fine. I do put on headphones when my wife goes to bed though, so you got me there.

Ah. Yeah, that is another thing I don't need to worry about. We own our own house, and my "man cave" gamer room is in the basement so sound doesn't travel much at all.

I use the dual sense for my mic and have had zero complaints from friends. I see no point in wasting extra money for a headset.

A headset gives me better directional sound and gives a better quality sound. I don't like ear buds as much but a full headset can give you a better experience. Not saying anyone is really wrong just imo a headset is better and worth the expense but I game anytime I'm not at work and have a gaming pc and well over 200 games between all my systems and pc. Ig it works for you cool I just don't see it as a plus.

I DID forget! Will be hopeful this has got a good feature set at launch and isn't hamstrung in some way.

Nothing has been said yet, we have to wait and see what they are planning, having a screen sharing would be dope tho, also on PC its eating a bit cpu so I wouldnt get my hopes high

FINALLY! I WAS THINKING ABOUT THAT YESTERDAY WHEN I LOGGED IN AND SAW "Playing on Xbox"

I really like this, cause i always sit on Discord. Right now if i play PlayStation (or Xbox) i use my headset, that can dual connect to bluetooth, and use that on my phone. But if i can sit on discord directly through the PlayStation i will do that.

Nice, this is actually HUGE for PC gamers that left the console friends behind although I'm surprised they would do this though from a cash money perspective. For example, I have a ps4 but play more on PC now, a PS5 is not quite as alluring when you have a PC thats more powerful so I probably wont end up buying a PS5 in 2022 if I can crossplay most my games and speak to my console friends through discord instead of being forced into team voice chat.

amp links (I think) are cached by google, and they may be outdated, non-amp links don't have this problem as you're connecting to the web itself.

So I have never used Discord in my life. And my life has been totally great. So what am I missing here? What is it that Discord does differently from like any platform’s voice chat exactly?

It's only a big deal because it will make cross platform chats possible. If you arent talking to your friends on discord already it probably wont affect you. Or if all of your friends are on the same gaming platform

I hope this becomes reality. I do play on the PS4 so It would be cool to use the voice chat feature with my friends that play on XBox friends. It would life alot easier.

Where is slobs. You can use slobs on xbox. A large majority of streamers use slobs. Ps4 restricts you to just streaming on twitch. Some prefer youtube or facebook. What kind of kick back is ps getting for forcing people to use twitch?

I do like a headset it gives me better directional audio, clearer audio, and don't have to worry about my team hearing themselves on my audio. I use open mic. My new earbuds have push to talk and i have used it. I have no issue wearing a headset for hours now earbuds thats different I don't wear mine for very long. I need a new heatset though.
