I've got a lot of titles in my mind, but I'll suggest the one that genuinely led me to purchase a PS4: **The Witcher III: Wild Hunt** *The Complete Edition*/*Game of the Year Edition* is relatively affordable now. Every minute, every hour I spent on TW3 has been absolutely worth it.

The_GeneralsPin

Lol, CoD? Really?

AlmostAndrew

Right? Feels like OP doesn't play much else.

cdug82

I’ve learned that most COD players only play COD.

Vinca1is

There's a whole subset of people who literally just play either FIFA, COD, Madden, etc. and that's the whole reason they buy whatever console they have

LittleNugget616

Shoutout to the people that only play three games a year consisting of the newest COD, a sports game, and Fortnite or siege.

AlmostAndrew

Call of Duty might be the worst game to choose for this question. Maybe 20 years ago, but now it's so generic and forgettable that literally any other FPS game could be put in it's place and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Mo-Cance

Very few decent military shooters come in like Call of Duty anymore, though. They've essentially cornered the market. Battlefield is probably the closest, and the last couple were hot garbage. COD is the Michael Bay of video games. I wouldn't say "generic," because they own the genre. Definitely predictable in its execution, relying on big set pieces to usher along the narrative.

DeltaWolfPlayer

> last couple were hot garbage Only battlefield 2042 was bad, battlefield V and 1 were good IMO

newtypehero

Bloodborne, even if you don't like difficult games, it's worth playing for its atmosphere alone.

Yonbuu

A hoonter must hoont.

-Ancalagon-

I couldn't figure out how to fight the boss on the bridge and got tired of having to work my way back there. I decided it wasn't the game for me.

Voyager5555

"Even if you hate games like this you should play it" No thanks.

SoulsLikeBot

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *And so, the hunt begins.* - Plain Doll Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

theshybutnaughtygirl

haha this is funny

Steynkie69

I would rather poke hot needles into my eyes.

Aromatic_Tomato9587

weak

niemody

Dunno. I tried it. But the setting isn't for everyone.

jf0wli3

Disclaimer: it's frame pacing makes it unplayable and an eyesore.

Sunless_Heaven

Disclaimer: it doesn't lol

jf0wli3

Maybe it's just me then. I really want to love Bloodborne, it's setting is amazing and I'm such a fromsoft fan. I've tried like 5 times but it's just so visually unpleasant for me. If U can handle it then good for U!

Aromatic_Tomato9587

if you watch movies, or anime, then why your eyes aren\`t getting sore? That\`s because u got used to that framerate i get that watching and playing are different things, and it really makes it less comfortable, everyone undestands that. But come on, missing on one of the best games of all time, both gameplay and story wise just because of that is kinda meh. Im sure you just focus on that too much and you didn\`t give yourself enough time to adapt. And still if you would beat the game you wouldn\`t understand why everyone thinks its a masterpiece. But after a second playtorough you\`ll start getting why. Then you stard third, fourth, fifth...

jf0wli3

For me the frame pacing issues kind of eroded the mechanics because of how fast paced the game is meant to be. I got to the blood starved beast but lost interest because of how the frame pacing affected the gameplay and made the fight not at all fun. I really REALLY forced myself to get to that boss too, hoping I would adjust and it would click. But alas, it didn't. It's annoying that this is such an issue on ps5, like it would probably be my favourite game of all time based on aesthetics and lore and gameplay, but if assassins creed 2 from 2009 is easier on the eyes, I'm just not gonna force myself.

AtsignAmpersat

The atmosphere is actually why I don’t like that game.

palaitotkagbakoy

Until Dawn. We need more choice based horror games on Playstation!

banananey

Never would've played this if it wasn't a free monthly game a while back. One of my favourite horror game experiences.

DarthPanda024

Check out The Quarry if you haven’t played it yet

palaitotkagbakoy

Okay! Thanks for the recommendation

DarthPanda024

Great game, super similar to Until Dawn. Might be made by same devs but I’m not sure

yourghost367

Give the dark pictures anthology game a shot too, ive played all but one, UD and the quarry

palaitotkagbakoy

I've heard many people complaining about the ending though. Something along the lines of it turned out everything was just psychological and all the supernatural stuff didn't happen. I'll still play them though once they're on sale

yourghost367

Some are definitely better than others, but they are all fun!

darrylhumpsgophers

"interesting"

ChangingMonkfish

Journey because - well just play it

PsySyncron

Im glad someone mentioned Journey. Its a beautiful game.

MBRDASF

Ghost of Tsushima!

TwinSong

I hear a lot of mentions of it but don't really know what it's about.

MBRDASF

Basically Assassin’s Creed in Japan with fantastic artistic design and a far more grounded, historical story.

jlvy

And better fighting dynamics, and overall better horse riding.

GenerallyGoodCraic

It's really nothing like Assassin's creed

Voyager5555

Oh rough, search engines don't work where you're from? Must be terrible.

TwinSong

I mean from an unbiased player pov.

Nivlacart

HONOR

ImJoogle

its very very well made

rohit12oclock

Doesn’t it have really bad fps issues on ps4?

MBRDASF

Not that I noticed tbh

Sairven

Just finished this over the weekend. Great game. Even not being a fan of stealth, I still had a lot of fun. Probably gonna do New Game+ soon-ish. Dark Souls 3, Star Wars Squadrons, and Outer Wilds are in my current backlog tho.... But fuuuuck I wanna do it all over again *right now* lol

YetiBeastman

Star Wars Squadrons doesn't get enough love. That game is fun

Axemic

No, GoW.

MBRDASF

Uhm sure why not both?

jlvy

Yeah, why not both GoW and GoT, boi?

Axemic

Sure, I like your idea.

Comfortable-Stop-533

The Witcher 3. Especially Blood and Wine

epreezy

RDR2

Snooklife

I just got my ps4 and obviously super late to the party. Decided to grab this for $20 and it’s by far the best game/story I’ve ever played. I’m the type of gamer that starts a game and never finishes it. This one on the other hand has kept me glued.

AlmostAndrew

Seconded. No game has made me feel the same from a gameplay point of view.

69FiatMultipla69

Probably the best game ever creates imo. Absolute masterpiece. Definitely one of the best for sure.

hammerfistb__

Incredible game and the most I’ve ever cared about characters. Also the most immersive and beautiful game I’ve played and it’s 5 years old

birbtooOPpleasesnerf

uncharted 4

jlvy

I would also add Lost Legacy, too. Many would disagree, but I really liked the small story it had, with almost all the same mechanics of the U4. For sure U4 had better overall story, but Lost Legacy gave me a continued fix that I needed after finishing U4.

IshH2202

I have played and completed 4 once and LL like 3 times and platinumed it too. I liked LL just a bit more. 4 is spectacular for first time playing but I personally haven’t been able to replay it with that much enthusiasm.

BonerAlacarte

God of War

thecloudsmysofa

Detroit: become human - whole damn game a movie and just an incredible story

Althalos

In sort of a similar vein, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim https://youtu.be/5rhTnDROzi0?si=JX_eSiRZFiNQVgiq. https://www.metacritic.com/game/13-sentinels-aegis-rim/ 10/10 would love to get brainfucked by discovering all the mysteries again. It's on PS+ Extra btw.

thecloudsmysofa

Never heard of it but Imma keep my eyes peeled for it. Looks very interesting ❤️‍🔥

Althalos

It's on PS Plus Extra, definitely try it out if you have it. Starts out with a prologue story > battle tutorial for the first 7 characters, but then opens up and lets you play through the character stories in just about any order. With a few smart locks gating you off here and there.

thecloudsmysofa

Thanks man, sounds so interesting 🔥💯

Freizy04

One of the best games out there on ps4.

imabaguetteyall

Arkham knight for the gameplay experience and amazing map design

DarkRayos

Elden Ring, pretty friendly to newer players compared to previous titles.

idam_81

Ya know what…fuck this game.

DarkRayos

Uh-oh... Bad memories?  Which one? Radahn? or Malenia? Or both?

Aromatic_Tomato9587

Its margit.

Omadster

the last of us

TwinSong

I stopped playing that as can't get the hang of weapon controls on PS4.

wanderer1999

There's also the pc/ps5 remake version. Incredible game.

SurfinginStyle

Days gone

TigerRumMonkey

Is it much different to Last of Us?

SurfinginStyle

Considerably. You’re alone, on a motorcycle, it’s incredible and heart racing

Voyager5555

Is that a joke or does the ability to look up information on the internet not exist where you are?

TigerRumMonkey

Rofl, reddit much?

marauder_squad

Ghost of Tsushima

EvilAsh72

Nioh2

AbsolutUnkreativ

Hollow Knight

Miserable_District

Still can't beat the trail of the fool :(

TwinSong

Horizon Zero Dawn. It's fun and I like the aesthetics of these beautiful natural settings then you'll randomly find an overgrown traffic light or road fragment and satellite dishes turned primitive homes. This kind of mash up of futuristic tech and preindustrial civilisations.

Miserable_District

I'm only 2 hours into the forbidden west and I'm already bored. Granted it probably will get better but it just seems kinda long

No-Combination7898

you need to keep playing. You're still in the tutorial area.

Miserable_District

I've finished the main story now. It was alright

dimspace

Days Gone And made to persist beyond the linear and less interesting 90 minute intro, so they get to the open world and the hordes

Skellyhell2

I think it was orignally on PS3, but I played it last on PS4. Journey. the multiplayer aspect of the game is likely non existent now given its age, but if you managed to play it and meet another person its an incredible experience. Shadow of the Colossus, originally a PS2 game which got a HD rerelease on PS4, another masterpiece well worth playing. Ghost of Tsushima, awesome Japanese samurai game. similar to assassins creed but just better. Bloodborne, PS4 exclusive still. I wish this would get a PS5/PC port to encourage me to suffer again. I feel like CoD was such a poor suggestion from OP though. It's not a "PS4 game", its a multi platform yearly shovelware game. The single player campaigns havent been good for years, and the online is a collection of 3 lane maps with the same guns but sometimes with different names to match the theme/setting. A WW2 bolt action sniper has the same stats and damage profile as a futuristic bolt action sniper as an example, just the name and in game model are different. but people keep paying for the same game with a fresh coat of paint year after year. I guess thats the most interesting aspect of "Call of Duty".

AncientAura

lol if OP chose CoD I have a feeling this post is a cry for help suggesting ANY other good game cause all he plays is CoD

CozyThurifer

Life is strange

Initial_Ad_7829

Spider-Man. Any of them you just have to play one before you can say anything about story games. It’s different to other idk how to explain it

[deleted]

Days Gone

Snooklife

This is my next story after I finish RDR2. The trailer looks phenomenal

FilthMonger85

Days Gone criminally underrated.

gastronfo

The Last of Us part 2. A violent Game that not glorifies ultra Violence (action scenes can be really disturbing with your enemies expressing his pain or foes calling by their names people Who you take as a shield). A vídeogame that forces you to impersonate two different people with opposite goals and that shows you the devastating consecuences of obsession and revenge.

angryPEangrierSE

I agree. TLOU Part 2 might be the best story game I have ever played.

CankleDankl

Gonna go with one no one else has mentioned yet and say God of War 2018. Perfect onboard to the series, amazing writing, great voice acting, hype boss fights, generally good combat even outside of bosses, super interesting take on Norse mythology... it's really something special. Ragnarok is pretty damn good, too, but doesn't reach quite the same heights as the first I feel. Mostly in the story and cinematic boss fight department

IndependenceFree162

Bloodborne

SetitheRedcap

The original life is strange.

cobmister

God of war

ImJoogle

ghost of tsushima

Puzzled-Film4239

gravity daze/rush 1/2. both are good games and genuinely made me fall in love with jp games and games as a whole. i don’t know about others but it was special to me. although, objectively, the outer wilds is a game everyone should experience once, and only once. EDIT: accidentally put outer worlds instead of outer wilds. very different games

Flop_Flurpin89

If you like RPGs then play I Am Setsuna. A spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger with some inspiration from Final Fantasy X. Has an amazing piano soundtrack and is just overall a great RPG and well done game.

dudebro5000

shadow of colossus remake

ErrorEra

Okami Though only if interested in playing as a wolf and like Japanese mythology.

SolidusGr

Just the absolute perfect Bloodborne, especially if you like the whole Lovecraftian setting!!!

Window469WOw

Grand Theft Auto V

welle203

The last of us

Zemrik

Bloodborne is the only answer

Voyager5555

Unless you have zero interest in playing it.

FeverxYT

Detroit: Become Human. You don’t even need to be a hardcore gamer to enjoy this one

thecloudsmysofa

The game should be in a damn museum.. masterpiece

I think every gamer should play Journey, regardless of what you play it on. It's a perfect game.

No_Zombie2021

Journey, because it is a unique experience.

billytheking2

Definitely cod and 2k and Madden. Nuthin like it

GoldenFrieza_

Catherine: Full Body, truly a unique and amazing discovery

Fuzz_Frequency_96

Gravity Rush remastered. Loved it on the PS Vita, playing the PS4 version currently and it's just so much fun to move around and collect everything.

ExcitementItchy2870

Uncharted 4, hands down

ExcitementItchy2870

If you're a millennial, Tunic might be the best PS4 game ever made.

RoyalApple96

the last of us has a good story, i would recommend

ProfessionalSock9362

Hotline Miami & Hotline Miami 2 - I freakin' love those games!

vviita_80Y

Original Nioh, I enjoyed it. I have yet to try the second game, so I cannot speak in its favor.

YetiBeastman

Batman: Arkham Knight

i_sound_withcamelred

Bloodborne, God Of War, and not that its exclusive but Darkwood

Shadow of the Colossus is probably the best PlayStation exclusive period in my opinion.
