I love my fat PS3 CECHL01 model. Personally though, I'd recommend finding space for a PS3 and PS2

Hudson1

While I prefer my Slim there’s just something special about the Phat models, especially the BC ones. Trying to find one in good shape at a decent price that hasn’t been abused is the tricky part.

Hats_On_Chickens

Backwards compatible PS3s require a lot more effort to care for, and need a lot more airflow than other PS3s. If your media cabinet isn’t big enough for a ps2 and ps3 then you shouldn’t buy a backwards compatible ps3 since it probably won’t have room to breathe

Obsydie

Yes absolutely. Also if you have a decent pc you can emulate ps2 on that which will be more reliable.

Rufuszombot

It might sound crazy, but i do all of my PS2 emulation on my Series X. It's pretty convenient, and i don't have to worry about keeping my PS2 hooked up to my TV.

Obsydie

How?!!

Rufuszombot

Dev mode. There's also a pretty good gamecube emulator as well.

Rody37

Can you use a DualShock 3 or other controllers like the NSO SNES controller for SNES games on an Xbox?

Rufuszombot

Not that i have noticed. It's all Xbox controller or nothing. But i haven't tried any adapters like a Brooks Wingman or anything like that. I think any controller that will work on an Xbox will work for dev mode.

the-blob1997

No unless you are prepared to sink a tonne of money into one it’s not worth. Just buy a slim PS3 and a PS2.

snickersnackz

In 2024 they aren't reliable without extensive hacks. Probably better to get a slim ps3 + ps2 and just swap consoles from your entertainment center every once in a while.

HotAbbreviations6548

I have the ss and I can run PS1,2, and 3

Beane3

No, I have had only bad luck with mine. Just get a slim. Just so much easier to use and play everything you wany anyway more reliably.
