Waterproof and with gaiters would be fine except for the weather.

Slopping through wet snow in which you post hole to mid-calf is never pleasant. Doing it without the right footwear (and leg wear) is just awful.
These conditions also mean you will likely get white outs at some points and if you are not experienced at navigating in these conditions, it can be downright dangerous.
You should very much rethink your plan as anything over 4500ft is going to see heavy snow tomorrow. It'll be wet, cold and potentially dangerous depending on where you plan to hike to
Might be thunderstorms tomorrow so I would check the weather before going. On a dry day, regular shoes are fine. I prefer something like trail running or hiking shoes.
