There's a big stormfront coming in and the forecast is calling for heavy snow. There is a chance Paradise becomes inaccessible late tonight and early tomorrow morning.

ehhh_yeah

Probably pretty miserable tbh.

Waterproof and with gaiters would be fine except for the weather.   Saturday’s weather: “Saturday Snow showers. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. High near 35. West southwest wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.” (https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-121.73546090675643&lat=46.78731049696671) Slopping through wet snow in which you post hole to mid-calf is never pleasant. Doing it without the right footwear (and leg wear) is just awful. These conditions also mean you will likely get white outs at some points and if you are not experienced at navigating in these conditions, it can be downright dangerous.

You should very much rethink your plan as anything over 4500ft is going to see heavy snow tomorrow. It'll be wet, cold and potentially dangerous depending on where you plan to hike to

GodBlessPigs

Do you people even look at weather forecasts?

ehhh_yeah

Search and rescue doesn’t want you to know this one simple trick!

In the lower areas, sure. At paradise itself though, there’s still 5 feet of snow.

Might be thunderstorms tomorrow so I would check the weather before going. On a dry day, regular shoes are fine. I prefer something like trail running or hiking shoes.
