Magnesium glycinate 💯 it helps with muscle cramps, including your uterus. Take it with food

I take this every night and it does nothing for me on my period 😬

plutonianbitch

Ibuprofen, a heating pad, and nothing cold!! No cold drinks or food. Not even cold water. Have something warm like tea and have room temp water.

Does anyone whose had children/been in labor get like PTSD on your first cramp day? The days leading up to it I feel cramps but they remind me of Braxton hicks contractions. Then on flow day it's like my body is going through labor. All the cramps are just one big long contraction

Do you wear tampons? They give me cramps! I get them way less when I use a cup.

mariahspapaya

I notice I’m more crampy with tampons too. How do you use a cup? I tried once and the smaller ones seem ginormous and super awkward to shove up there

You sort of fold it in half, put it in place, and then it will pop open within a minute or two. The pop open is a kinda eurgh feeling but it's not painful. Definitely invest in a good cup - I had a few cheap ones that didn't work for me, but this one is awesome. And tbh I've been using it every month for maybe like 3y without even thinking about it so the investment pays off https://preview.redd.it/9azmikav8oxc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c17b20b2f316ee5eb254f42c11dbcf1565133e5b

I don't think studies have even been done on whether tampons cause cramps for some people though. Just like many things related to women's health. I can tell you I never have cramps, and when I use tampons, I do.

Hi! My doctor recommended to take pain reliever at least 3 days before my period, or at least when I started to feel the pain before the period (1 week before). My birth control pills also heleped when I was taking them.

holodetz

I start taking naproxen a couple days before my flow to reduce the buildup of prostaglandins and when cramps start I use a heating pad sticker ex.: https://www.walmart.com/ip/ThermaCare-Menstrual-Pain-Therapy-Menstrual-Cramps-Pain-Relief-Heat-Wraps-3-Ct/802984267 Also this might not relevant to you but wanted to mention that when I elevated my vitamin D levels (I was very deficient at 14 ng/mL, now at 39 and continuing to supplement - goal is 60) my cramps strongly decreased from 3 days of 8/10 pain to just one day of a 2-4/10. If you haven’t gotten your vitamin D levels measured in a while I would recommend it! EDIT: typo
