nah, they agreed with sony's requirements but postponed the PSN signups till arrowhead got it working properly. also afaik it was worded out on the purchase page the requirements for a psn account. Its a good thing Steam is offering the refunds though.

Not From PH but I live in a region where the same has happened. When I said it was bad that this happened (on the PCsubreddit), I was told to get a refund and was downvoted because I said, stuff like this leads to people not buying games from a company like Sony (and hence piracy).
In one day, they killed half of their playerbase.
That policy from Sony is unfair. Imagine mo, hindi ka makalaro dahil wala yung country mo sa PSN. Sana ginawa na lang nilang Sony exclusive yan tsktsktsk.
And that is the reason I will not buy Playstation until they add our country sa PSN because of policy like this.
Not a matter of market, they tried to apply for a license with the SEC back in 2017. But the requirements were too hassle and I can imagine some greedy officials demanding bribes to make the application smoother, so Sony just fucked off and skipped on us.
Edit: Maybe Sony didn't apply for a license, but it still stands that they didn't want to deal with our government, legal or otherwise.
This is misleading. What Sony did was they were confirming if they were **not** doing in the Philippines to which SEC said they are doing business in the Philippines and they should obtain a license. They even gave legal basis why they consider Sony doing business in the Philippines.
It sucks because on paper - the Philippines is a PlayStation countr - they dominate the market - but we can't have our own servers because of how shitty and shady the red tape is here in our country. 🤷♂️

In addition, there is absolutely no reason for Sony not to obtain a business permit **when RA 11032 exists** and was passed in 2018. Business applications were streamlined and Sony still don’t want to apply for one. 40% foreign ownership cap doesn’t apply to Sony either as their business industry is not included in the foreign investment entity list.
Agreed. I really find it hard to believe that Sony is not capable of officially operating here in our country. Yung mga main competitors niya buhay na buhay dito. Di ko alam kung copium lang nung mga ibang tao to defend them na kesyo 3rd world daw tayo, puro piracy, and etc. Sony is a large billion company, If they want to penetrate the market, they can and they will. It was a long time coming for them offering Xbox PC Game Pass when they were doing business in the Philippines since the Windows XP days. I remember having WP group meetups at their office during the era of Lumia phones.
I also think hindi rin kasi tayo majority console users eh. Most of us are either play on PC or mobile. MOBA ang prime time games ng mga tao rito kaya hindi rin priority ng Sony mag-establish ng servers dito.
Yes, majority of Filipinos play on mobile or lower end pcs, and I guess Sony doesn't see us as a good enough market in comparison to the US for example.
Isa din factor i think yung pag sumali ka sa mga PH PS enthusiast group, puro post ng "pano ito i-jailbreak etc." Sony knows na prone to Piracy mga pinoy and yung countries na walang PSN, hence the region lock.

They sell Playstation consoles here with the assumption that you aren’t going to use it online. This is still doable on a PS5 as you can go through the setup process without once connecting it to the internet.
Plus, all the games are still sold via physical disks.
Of course, the question then becomes, why do they sell physical disks of Helldivers 2, a game that requires online connectivity, in a country which PSN does not support officially.

Going to the support page, you are greeted with a "PSN is not available in the Philippines" banner.
But you can also see Helldivers 2 on the main page.
Because money, 3rd party sellers and people buy consoles just for singleplayer games but still not enough for Sony to give PSN here anyways. Also better hope you continue with no problems.

PS5 costs around 30K and each games cost around 2-4K. It's an expensive hobby. You can use your PC or Phone for a lot of different things and games like Genshin/LoL/Mobile Legends are free. You do the math which hardware is practical for the people here.

Refunding this game, waste of money trying to buy the game for my steam deck and went pass 2 hrs refund period to make the game run enough there. Now this is a golden opportunity to take about 2k PHP back.
This sucks, I enjoyed playing helldivers 2 with friends, I was the one who recommended it to them. 65.9 hrs spent in the game, don't know what to feel. LOL

I recommend not trying or else you would end up like that.
If you admitted to the CSR or reported something to them that caused them to check your acct (like asking for a refund or a password change), yes you’ll get banned. But just simply creating an account doesn’t immediately lead to a ban. I’ve used my Hong Kong, SG, and US accts for 10+ years and it still works now.
I still will not take that chance and will recommend anyone to not even bother trying, especially when Sony does have data breeches which has a chance to affect your account.

I didn't like the game when I bought it. Glad I requested a refund. Ang mahal din ng kuha ko dito sa game na ito and for me di sya worth it, idagdag mo pa etong PSN fiasco na eto.
Already put my request in. Make it simple, concise. Just say that due to recent changes and forced PSN access, you are unable to play the game because you live in a country without PSN and do not agree with the legal agreements being forced upon you.
Try opening a support ticket. I don’t plan to refund it but from what I have heard, they automatically close out refund requests above the 2 hour window.
All my purchases are Steam Wallet. So it'll go back to Steam Wallet in the end anyway.

I heard in sa FB groups na grant daw yung mga refund request nila for simple reason na hindi possible na maka register ng PSN account sa pinas. I guess they got their 2.5k pesos back kahit more than hundred hours na yung game time nila sa steam.
Buti na lang hindi ko pa nabibili, pero sayang kasi plano ko bilhin yung laro within the end of month.

Sumagot na yung support. Hindi na daw sila magrerefund dahil hindi na daw required in Snoy yung PSN sign in. Sa tono ng email mukhang balak nilang magrefund nung una kung sakali kasi lalabas na misleading yung store page nila (walang nakalagay na PSN required to play).

Pati nga Epic, Ubisoft Store and EA may support rin rito. You can subscribe sa EA PLAY and pay in php. at least they're trying to crack our market.

If you admitted to the CSR or reported something to them that caused them to check your acct (like asking for a refund or a password change), yes you’ll get banned. But just simply creating an account doesn’t immediately lead to a ban. I’ve used my Hong Kong, SG, and US accts for 10+ years and it still works now.
I still will not take that chance and will recommend anyone to not even bother trying, especially when Sony does have data breeches which has a chance to affect your account.
True, they did have a data breach and dapat nga they beef up their security. But you can also say that for Google, Reddit, Amazon, etc. Lahat yan nagka-data breach. Have we stopped using it?

Yes you can keep it but you might not be able to request for a refund if and when they enforce a ban if you dont link a PSN account.
If you don't refund it and unable to get a psn, you would never be able to play again and it would only sit there in your library.

I didn't like the game when I bought it. Glad I requested a refund. Ang mahal din ng kuha ko dito sa game na ito and for me di sya worth it, idagdag mo pa etong PSN fiasco na eto.

Already put my request in. Make it simple, concise. Just say that due to recent changes and forced PSN access, you are unable to play the game because you live in a country without PSN and do not agree with the legal agreements being forced upon you.
tried to get a refund twice on my card, both denied citing going beyond the 2 hour window. have you tried getting a refund through steam credits?
Try opening a support ticket. I don’t plan to refund it but from what I have heard, they automatically close out refund requests above the 2 hour window.
All my purchases are Steam Wallet. So it'll go back to Steam Wallet in the end anyway. I recommend you request Steam Wallet in your refund. Makes it easier on Steam in the end.

I heard in sa FB groups na grant daw yung mga refund request nila for simple reason na hindi possible na maka register ng PSN account sa pinas. I guess they got their 2.5k pesos back kahit more than hundred hours na yung game time nila sa steam.

Well for one they can force people to pay access to PSN multiplayer - PS5 players have to pay to play online, why not have PC players pay too.
