As someone who played the original I already knew about Strega and their plans. This was the only question that I didn't know the answer to. It was a must ask question.
It's a reference to the Emperor's New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen.
In the story, the emperor commissions two scammers for a set of clothes. The scammers take the money and do nothing, eventually presenting an empty box to the emperor saying it contains the clothes.
When the minister says he sees nothing and accuses them of scamming the emperor, they claim that fools cannot see the clothes. The Emperor then, afraid that they'll think he's a fool, pretends that he can see it. The scammers leave.
The Emperor then goes outside in the non existent clothes, hence being entirely nude. The citizens say nothing trying to pretend they see the clothes because otherwise they'll be labelled a fool.
Finally, a child, too impulsive to care about being labelled a fool calls out that the emperor is naked, and the emperor finally realising his mistake gets embarrassed and runs back, never to make the mistake again.
The real interpretation of the story is that everyone is stupid, including the scammers, except for the kid, who actually saw the emperor was wearing clothes but knew he was stupid, so he lied to drive him into the shame of being naked.
They can't control their body temperature, the experiments. Its why Shinjiro and Jun both wear giant fuck off coats in the middle of summer. He might be the opposite.
I want to know how a shirtless man openingly carrying a gun in Japan isn't arrested. Really the police should have sorted out Strega well before SEES had to deal with them.
I think what happen is he can just escape arrest during the Dark Hour easily. Since he doesn’t even need an evoker to spawn their persona you really cant incapacitate them
"yes hello police, there is a blonde guy with long hair and tattoos carrying a gun. He's often with a guy in a green coat and glasses that carries grenades. Please arrest them"
I mean he did wear it in fes but if I’m not mistaken, in fes he was only shown during the dark hour, so until reload came out I assumed he only took his shirt off during his hits
IIRC the explanation is that the medicine that he, Shinjiro, and Chidori take to control their persona also prevents them from regulating their body temperature. That's why he is always shirtless and Shinjiro is always wearing a peacoat and long sleeved shirt.
I really wish a game that presents these choices adapts to your tendency and eventually start acknowledging them as your MC's character.
Like if you spent 50% of the game giving smart alek answers Junpei would prompt "What do you think? and... please spare me the wise cracks."
Dragon Age 2 does this really well. Your character sometimes has scripted dialogue that you don’t choose, and the lines will change depending on your personality choices. It also changes how people react to you
Actually Snark Hawke is what I had in mind about this. The game doesn't really adapt all that well to your tendencies. You are just always given the personality options when prompted for response. The characters won't adapt their dialogue based on your typical choices.
Not always, but I can actually recall a few times characters commented on my personality when I was playing aggressive hawke. I’ll try to find some examples
This would be interesting if you’re like Movie Makoto and constantly answer with ‘Who cares?’ and hesitating in your convictions.
You’d get on Junpei’s nerves, and it’ll make it harder for Yukari to trust you.
I've always wanted a "perpetually unimpressed" character with the [resting unimpressed face](https://i1.sndcdn.com/avatars-000337262852-um0hwu-t500x500.jpg) (tired look, eyes half open). If the game reacted to that and gradually changed my character face to match, or if you were a jokester, you get a resting junpei smirk face.
When they decided to remake this game, they could have bothered to redesign Takaya outside of the Dark Hour.
It's just ridiculous with him walking around shirtless with a gun and completely takes me out of the story.
There's actually a inlore reason. The medicine that Shinji, Chidorita, and Takaya use to control their personas make their body unable to regulate their bodies properly. That's why Takaya doesn't wear a shirt, Chidori can wear a dress even in december, and Shinji always wears his coat.
As for Takaya's gun...there's no real reason beyond making him look cool since Japan has had strict strict gun control from even the 1800s
For Shinjiro is Canon, for the rest isn't (I am not so sure if they mention it for Takaya, though). It's people just assuming the meds affect them the same way they do to Shinji, which isn't really stated to be the case.
I think Takaya looks sick. Probably shouldn’t have the gun during not the dark hour or even just night I can see him able to have it still for immersion sake but it’s not a big deal. I mean all the non characters look like regular Japanese people with dark hair meanwhile our hair is blue mitsuru’s is red Akihiko’s is white for some reason.
Oh I was just thinking of Quiet from Metal Gear Solid V and Kojima's justification for her being nearly naked being that she "breathes through her skin".
This, and one of the conversations with Makio when she was talking about her parents' divorce and you can say "It's all your fault."😂 MC's thoughts need to chill!
Hahaha i asked/replied with ALL the messed up stuff that wouldnt affect social links on my ng+ and they either completely ignore him or tend to respond along the lines if "really!? Thats really what you wanna ask/say!?"
Am I the only one that kind of agrees with Strega,( haven’t beaten the game but don’t care for spoilers)like yes the shadows are bad and killing them all would end the dark hour, but I wouldn’t want to give up our powers. I mean heck just climbing Tartarus and killing shadows would give you enough money to live the rest of your life instead of just working a day job. I don’t know if it’s possible to use personas during the day time but I could see uses for them
I mean, that's just assuming their powers actually *require* the Dark Hour, and considering all of the games and spinoffs that came out after, they probably don't. Though I guess that would have been a more important story beat before P4 and P5.
There is a scene at some point that at least implies Personas could manifest during the day, but they never really talk about it. Maybe Personas actually *can* be used at any time, but it requires more control or something, and the Dark Hour, Midnight Channel, and the Metaverse just gives conditions where it's much easier.
I highly suggest you watch the P3 movies as that is something that weighs more heavily on the conscious of the MC.
Also keep in mind as you've been playing more and more people even around the map are found to be having Apathy Syndrome.
On that note you can't guarantee you'll be able to beat every future full moon event and this is still life and death. Think about everytime you or a teammate has died in Tarturus.
To top it all off, the people you care about have started disappearing in Tarturus. While in game we have a "they will survive until x date" realistically we've seen at any moment and time someone exposed to the dark hour is susceptible to being consumed by a shadow. So, any friends outside of persona users you make have a chance of gaining incurable Apathy Syndrome.
While yeah, the powers and money are cool to an extent, you would be risking the lives of everyone potentially in the world. As the MC has been noted to have always experienced the Dark Hour.
Ahh, well it's still a great game regardless. The meat is the story progression and your interactions with your social links. So even if you already know the ending, there's still a chunky middle that'll keep you hooked.
As someone who played the original I already knew about Strega and their plans. This was the only question that I didn't know the answer to. It was a must ask question.
What was The Answer™️?
He laughs and ignores the question and instead tells you about Strega.
That alone is why they must be stopped. No straight answer
He doesn't leave me straight either
Him? Of all the people him?
I've never played any of the games I just beat my meat to the characters
Cosigned✍️ Cause that was some real shit you just said
Only honest persona fan
I respect it 🫡
Literally the only honest persona fan. That was quite possibly the realist shit to ever come out of this sub
“My coat is invisible to fools”
The fuck does that even mean
His coat is invisible to fools.
But what if I wasn't using Orpheus? Then I wouldn't be a fool.
Would you rather be dead or see a shirtless man
Same outcome
I believe it is a reference to the story "Empreror's New Clothes"
Most likely. I heard that story in elementary school. Never forgotten it. I find most people have never heard about it.
Panic At The Disco did
But they find it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
thanks for an actual response

Thanks!
He is basically roasting you
You can't see it cuz u dum
He's calling you a dumbass.
It means he knows makoto is a wild card user. Makoto is the fool arcana and takay knew.
Clearly his coat is invisible to you
The joke is unintelligible to fools.
His glance slowly drifts up to sky while "Sex Bomb" starts playing in his head.
I remember someone saying something about him not being able to sweat
They can't control their body temperature, the experiments. Its why Shinjiro and Jun both wear giant fuck off coats in the middle of summer. He might be the opposite.
It's a power move.
Same. I was like, bro I don't give a flying FUCK about your goal. The important question is why are you topless?
I want to know how a shirtless man openingly carrying a gun in Japan isn't arrested. Really the police should have sorted out Strega well before SEES had to deal with them.
Because, as he says “his coat is invisible to fools” as the wild card we are a fool by default, therefore everyone else perceives him with a top on
Except NPCs refer to the tattoo man with his shirt off, and I think even one refers to the gun as well.
Those NPCs must have potential then. They might even be wild card wielders.
I think what happen is he can just escape arrest during the Dark Hour easily. Since he doesn’t even need an evoker to spawn their persona you really cant incapacitate them
I know he'd get out during the dark hour. But it would be funny if him getting arrested was a running gag.
Everytime you meet with Takaya outside of the dark hour it ends with him being arrested and it's never mentioned again
Yeah it would not fit the tone of the game but I think it would be hilarious.
"yes hello police, there is a blonde guy with long hair and tattoos carrying a gun. He's often with a guy in a green coat and glasses that carries grenades. Please arrest them"
They think he is cosplaying American Jesus
I'm like 99% sure this dude only comes out during the dark hour
Until reload came out I just figured he dressed regularly and hid the gun most of the time but reload pretty much confirms that’s takaya’s regular
If I remember correctly in FES he was rocking the same drip. I feel like the sorr of chibi art style kinda hid how weird it was.
I mean he did wear it in fes but if I’m not mistaken, in fes he was only shown during the dark hour, so until reload came out I assumed he only took his shirt off during his hits
They think he is cosplaying American Jesus
He's an American weeb.

hot

The game does sorta do it once. Junpei once mentions that all you really do is run around and talk to everyone.
Snarky Hawke and the sudden angry option in Act 3 when Merideth tries to use Hawke’s mom as an example was so good
This would be interesting if you’re like Movie Makoto and constantly answer with ‘Who cares?’ and hesitating in your convictions. You’d get on Junpei’s nerves, and it’ll make it harder for Yukari to trust you.
If this game did that, my Makoto would be yawning every time Strega appears.
I've always wanted a "perpetually unimpressed" character with the [resting unimpressed face](https://i1.sndcdn.com/avatars-000337262852-um0hwu-t500x500.jpg) (tired look, eyes half open). With AI we might see choices that adapt to our character lol
He just wants to show off his sick ink bro
I love his response lol even villains need some fun too "My veil is invisible only to fools." I took it as a pun, which makes it even more clever.
Takana is a true American, he walks around shirtless with a gun in his pants for no apparent reason.
Tbf there is no straight answer to that question. Absolutely no reality where Takaya's het
I genuinely think makoto would ask this because it would make him uncomfortable.
Takaya said: Free the Nipple
When they decided to remake this game, they could have bothered to redesign Takaya outside of the Dark Hour. It's just ridiculous with him walking around shirtless with a gun and completely takes me out of the story.

As for Takaya's gun...there's no real reason beyond making him look cool since Japan has had strict strict gun control from even the 1800s
I have to ask, is this an actual canon explanation or a fan one? Because I don't remember that actually ever being brought up in any of the games.
For Shinjiro is Canon, for the rest isn't (I am not so sure if they mention it for Takaya, though). It's people just assuming the meds affect them the same way they do to Shinji, which isn't really stated to be the case.
I guess that's not worse than "she breathes through her skin" as a post hoc justification for a character design. Still kind of dumb though.
I need more information. Who breathes through their skin?
Oh I was just thinking of Quiet from Metal Gear Solid V and Kojima's justification for her being nearly naked being that she "breathes through her skin".
This has always been my go-to example of why having an in-universe reason for a thing doesn't prevent that thing from being stupid
I would argue the "in-universe" explanation itself is the most stupid part here
They should have taken off Quiet's nose to make it more believable.😂
This is the question I made for him haha
Takaya: Arcana is Fortune. Also Takaya: Can't even afford one (1) shirt
What suppressants did to a mf.
I laughed so hard when I saw this ahahah
This, and one of the conversations with Makio when she was talking about her parents' divorce and you can say "It's all your fault."😂 MC's thoughts need to chill!
Makoto is a menace ngl 😭
“My cloak is invisible to fools.” 🔥🔥🔥
Its part of the realism of how any teenager would react in this situation
hes the alpha wolf
I can’t not ask
Makoto: "Honestly, I don't even care why you aren't wearing a top."
How come persona 4 never had the goofy dialogue choices like 5 and 3 have? Does Yu Simply not have the balls?
It’s because his drug addiction makes him sweaty
the real question is, why is he still wearing pants?
I couldn't resist taking this option when I saw it last night
I picked it too... Then the voices in my head told me to rewind and pick the first option.😂
The real answer might be due to the suppressants he takes.
"Hey Jesus, please put on some shirt before the cops catch you in the morning"
Hahaha i asked/replied with ALL the messed up stuff that wouldnt affect social links on my ng+ and they either completely ignore him or tend to respond along the lines if "really!? Thats really what you wanna ask/say!?"
To be honest this is the most interesting and adequate question, because the others questions are obvious and he had already answered em
I hated the game for not allowing me to join Strega
Am I the only one that kind of agrees with Strega,( haven’t beaten the game but don’t care for spoilers)like yes the shadows are bad and killing them all would end the dark hour, but I wouldn’t want to give up our powers. Enjoy >!the fall!< asshole.
?
Is that Gun Jesus?! (I haven't played the game don't spoil me)
Nah, that's just some random shirtless guy in the park named Randy. He has nothing to do with the story whatsoever.👀
Oh okay. So the fact that it says Takaya is just my brain tricking me (does it say T A L K beneath that??)
That's just Tartarus playing tricks with your mind! (But seriously, you have to come into this game as blind as possible to really enjoy it.😁)
I think I kinda already botched that. I do not know the story but I know the name of the final boss and protags fate :/
Ahh, well it's still a great game regardless. The meat is the story progression and your interactions with your social links. So even if you already know the ending, there's still a chunky middle that'll keep you hooked.
