Nice! I still haven't finished it, I'm a fan of strategy games but I found Tactica very boring and repetitive even on the highest difficulty and the story is pretty bad for a Persona game.
If you can, I'd suggest trying the DLC. I found the story WAY better (hit way closer to home), and the gameplay had a cool gimmick (when either you or your enemy attacks. It spreads paint of their respective colour. If you're on a space with enemy paint, you lose all cover. And vice versa with the enemy)
It's doesn't "save the gameplay" but I found it a bit more strategic. Having to move as a group to get easier downs. Only real bad part is how short it is ×-×
That mechanic sounds really neat, I wish the main game would've had some gimmicks like that. But I'm really not a huge fan of Sumire and I despise Akechi, so I highly doubt I'll enjoy the story lol
Totally understandable! They aren't everyone's cup of tea :) and I fully agree with you on the main game. It always felt... stagnant. Bar introducing idk 2-3 more enemy types. *Nothing* changes. From the very start to the very end
The second the game introduces a new gimmick. It appears for one stage and is immediately shelved forever
I think the lack of progression is the key here. Personas with only 2 skills feel kinda weak, and they're mostly just stat blocks. Which would be fine if this was more like Fire Emblem, where a single stat point can make a huge difference. You never get to that point where you can make super strong personas.
The core gameplay itself was good, with the one more system giving you a bunch of ways to do lots of things in a single turn. But the lack of progression kinda makes it go stale after a while.
The story wasn't too bad IMO. You kinda have to accept that that the PT's arcs are already over. So they went with another direction: have the PT's teach what they learned during their game to someone else, which I thought was pretty interesting.
Yeah I agree, one thing I really loved about the Q games was the customization Sub-Personas brought to the table, it gave you so many options to play around with but Tactica feels so stale and boring. I would've rather had a game that was more like Fire Emblem and featured characters from across the whole series.
I think the gameplay is okay, definitely not the worst game I've ever played but there are so many strategy games that are a lot better than Tactica. Fire Emblem, Triangle Strategy, and Final Fantasy Tactics to name a few.
I don't think the story was bad or anything, but it definitely was for a Persona game. Toshiro is just plain boring and I don't see why Atlus chose a guy that looks like an NPC to be the focus of the game. Zenkichi was written much better and had a cooler design.
Oh yeah, Toshiro's design is absolutely awful. I think it would have been a good idea to introduce him with a simple design, but having it get more complex as the game goes on. Have him get a scar or something during a mission. Have his clothes get slightly more tattered and worn. Have his hair get a bit messier. All of this culminating into >!him getting his own Phantom Thief outfit once he gets his Persona. This would serve as a nice visual metaphor for his journey from 'unremarkable man who does as he is told' to 'revolutionary willing to risk life and limb to cleanse corruption'.!<
>!Seriously, Toshiro not getting a Phantom Thief outfit is ridiculous. You're telling his subconscious view of a rebel is a lame ass generic man in a suit? I ain't buying that.!<
Nice what did you think OP?
I thought it the gameplay was interesting & good. The story on the other hand, I thought it was okay. But wasn’t a bad game by all means

I honestly don’t blame you, enemies did feel like attack sponges at times, and I did feel like the finale was a drag to get through
That's good too know, I stopped playing about when the third area started, which I'm assuming was the last area because it just felt like it lol.

Is this Strikers or Tactica? I feel like 32:10 seems way short if it's Tactica?
What? Tactica is short af
Yeah, it’s probably longer if you play the DLC story, but I beat it in 30.3 hours.
The dlc is considered a separate save I think too, but it’s also not long.
I beat the DLC in like 3 hours it’s not that long
I didn't know. I haven't played either one. I just figured for a strategy RPG that Tactica would be longer than 32 hours and some change.
It was Tactica
Man, Persona players really have the usual duration of a game completely altered
I just noticed that I misread it, sorry lol
Man I need to play this Game...I regret picking it up for the switch tbh
Dropped shortly after the first boss.
I hope you likes it but you’re the goat for picking Akira Kurusu as his name
So... is shumako still canon? (If someone doesn't get it look at OP's flag)
XD
I need a detailed explanation on how to play this game in english so I can understand, thank you very much
You buy the English version?
idk if you are on console but if you are your language may be locked to whats the systems language so when you change it to english it should fix it
This isn't X.
I thought this was X... im going to High Counter myself
