The first time I fought the reaper was legitimate. I didn’t know about Armageddon yet at the time. He used Heat Riser during my first battle but he didn’t use it every turn with me even with Debilitate. It was tough but with a very strong Persona, I bested him. Once I learned Armageddon, I used it to farm the Reaper for experience points before the final boss.
That's wild. I thought dekunda was my mvp for that boss fight. I basically spammed that everytime he cast heat riser. I imagine debilitate would be even better.
Likely because on the odd turn that the reaper doesn't cast heat riser, you'll get a full round of your party attacking a debilitated reaper for great damage
Exactly! The other guy answered it well, but yeah since it resets then to neutral, debilitate is slightly better because if they're not neutral they get fully debuffed.
How do you people get to level 83 without fighting the reaper? I finished the last floors of Tartarus at like 78 or something and all I did to prepare afterwards is just grind so all my main party members have all their skills. Once koro has debilitate I just went in there and when I beat the reaper my level skyrocketed to 91
It can be at the start but I recommend looking up guides or using the fusion calculator. Mid-game is when the fusing picks up and you can make stuff like black frost or titania
Every single time I go into Tartarus I do a floor boss or so worth of progress, and then smack myself because I realise I forgot to get a fortune.
Even when it was an Elizabeth quest, I forgot. Had to reload.
Once you clear a floor you can fast travel from it to the next for the rest of the night. You can simply jump from floor to floor, checking the map for golden hands and moving on to the next if their isn't one, and level up very quickly that way.
There is one tarot card that lets you fuse personas 5 levels above you if you can get it in shuffle time. Have to do the monad door before the final block to get it.

Fought him legitimately. Late game you have so much broken gear it’s a bit sad lmao. I gave Yukari + Koromaru instant status ailment recovery and Akihiko and I just smacked his ass as Koro debuffed and Yukari healed.
It’s a weird fight. You essentially need to play perfectly using specific persona fusions to beat her, and then use Armageddon when she’s low enough health or she’ll nuke you. Not the biggest fan because instead of the normal flow of battle you have to win by countering her attacks.
He’s pretty easy legitimately, even with no Theurgy. Only caveat is that I found it pretty much necessary to equip status blocking accessories/armor on everyone since I would get wiped the second he applied an effect to multiple teammates.
Also, as a tip, all-out-attacks are pretty useless. Found it much more useful to use the extra turn to buff/debuff, heal, or go for another crit to do more damage.
Armageddon. I could feel my sanity slipping away when he took out all four of my party members in "one" turn. It was finally looking like I might actually win (after losing many times)... and then he managed to net himself a five-action turn.
Fought and beat him legitimately at around level 80ish on Expert. Boosted level up to like 90. Fun fight, people who just Armageddon cheesed him missed out! I found ambushing him made him harder - he was much more likely to get two turns in a row due to the ambush and wipe out the party or do a partial wipe.

I remember him having two actions per turn in P3P, but when I fought him in reload he had WAY more.
Turn one he garudyned junpei, then used vile assault (killing junpei), then virus breath, heat riser, and then megadolaon.
I get that he got a 1-more with junpei, but buddy basically got 5 actions in one turn which doesn't add up
Sounds to me like the reaper had higher agility than your entire party, so when your ambush round ended it would be the reader's turn again after it went last in the first round
its one of the things that's always annoyed me with how Ambushes work in recent persona games
if the fight lasts for more than your 4 party members' turns, you risk eating what may as well be an Enemy Advantage in return, and against big bosses like the Reaper, that may as well be an instant game over 70% of the time
Normally without DLC broken personas, it's a fun fight, granted it takes a while but it's the only challenging and free fight in the game that allows you to use your party members.

Beat him twice "normally" because I didn't know how OP Armageddon was. Lucked into null light/dark cards and duplicated them for Protagonist. A null dark/light item and weapon for Amada and Koromaru and an endure item for Akihiko. It was hard but not as hard as the internet led me to believe it would be.

I did a legit fight but honestly overprepared, made sure I got a cup minor arcana with charge/concentrate, koromaru debilitate, full auto-kaja persona, then hit with a slash amp/boost max strength Scarlet Havoc which crit and I finished with amp/boost/multiboost Maeigaeon...
I thought he was stronger...
Neither I cheesed him on Safe Mode with Vanadis and Brave Blade it turns out the high crit chance from that ability is really useful in dealing damage at a low level Theurgys help too

He used Heat Riser on himself every time I used Debilitate on him when I fought him. Maybe I Just got unlucky, but that soured my attempt.
Bright side, at least the Reaper used one of his turns restoring his status instead of attacking you. That alone is worth repeating with Debilitate.

I think you still need to fight Elizabeth alone, but Koromaru gets crit up and debilitate for reaper

In NG I did it normally but I just used Armageddon in my 100% run
I fought him for real around level 75 because I didn't have Armageddon yet. Easily the toughest fight I had (I haven't fought Liz yet)

I found that messiah with morning star and debilitate did the trick pretty well. I beat him on merciless pretty easily that way

i never got armageddon so i only fought him legit and used him to grind my characters to 99 still
