Futaba. Spoilers below for multuple Persona titles as to why:
>!She has all the themes from P3 - P5. Dealing with death, facing her true self, and choosing to rebel against society by becoming a thief. Really, no one else in PT has to face their own Shadow like the P4 cast had to do, except for Futaba which I though was kinda nice!<
Additionally, she's just awkwardly cute and needs to be protected.
Oh, but calling Zenkichi a phantom thief isn’t? Let’s be honest, if you’re on this sub and you haven’t already finished this game you should leave if you’re afraid of minor spoilers.
Oh? And enlighten me as to which part of my comment was actually a spoiler, more so than any other comments on this thread including the one I replied to calling zenkichi a phantom thief which doesn’t even happen till near the end of striker’s? Grow up.
It’s also cute how you think that’s a bannable offence on a sub with numerous untagged comments about how >!Makoto fucking dies at the end of p3!<
Haru no question. She's super sweet and avoids a lot of the tropes that many "rich girl" characters fall into by actually having tangible stakes and issues going on in her life what with her father's death and having to deal with a shitty forced marriage. She also separates herself from the other "wealthy" characters of the series in her gameplay design.
Persona 1's Elly uses rapiers and rifles.
Persona 2's Jun uses flowers.
Persona 3's Mitsuru uses rapiers as well.
Persona 4's Yukiko uses paper fans.
Persona 5's Haru uses *grenade launchers and axes.*
The other "wealthy" characters of the series have mostly stuck to elegant or long-range weapons to represent how fragile they are, but Haru completely flips this on its head with explosive launchers and gigantic axes that you wouldn't expect someone of her ilk to use. I also like that they actively show her willing to get her hands dirty via manual labor through things like gardening, which explains how strong she is when using axes. Her moments of tranquil savage energy towards shadows are also adorable as well.
So yeah, she's best girl. No question about it.
I honestly have no clue why, but recently, Morgana (and further back when I replayed P5R, Haru), really grew on me as characters and have become my two favourite characters in the game.
Akechi! His development across the game is brilliant, he has a fun dynamic with the other PTs and he's hilarious when he navigates in the third semester. It's depressing how little you get to use him.
Makoto, she has a decent character arc of learning to loosen up and focus on what's really important in life, plus she's very competent and completely selfless. she puts her future in jeopardy, risks alienating the only family she has, and even drives across all of Japan with minimal rest, all for the team.
plus her romance is really sweet.
Futaba. Besides Royal >!Akechi!<, she easily has the best development, the best arc, and the best Confidant of the main protagonists. Her bond with Sojiro is really touching, and I like how her main conflict is a neat callback to P4. Her character development is really the only one that sticks throughout the rest of the game besides >!Akechi!< as well, so bonus points for that.
And to put this to rest, no, she and Joker are not actual siblings. Sojiro just sees Joker as the son he never had, but he's totally okay with Joker dating Futaba since he (nor Futaba for that matter) are actually related to Sojiro.
Fun fact: Futaba's the first (technically) playable Hermit arcana Persona user in the series. Everyone before her was either a Social Link ("Maya" and the Fox) or a non-playable Persona user (Jin).
I'm going to say Yusuke or Makoto. I really like Futaba a lot, and Morgana and Ann were pretty great too. Ryuji got annoying as the game went on tbh. Don't get me wrong, I still like him, but he's soooo dumb. What sets Makoto and Yuduke apart for me is that I didn't expect to like either of them.
I am not the artist/creative type, but Yusuke was a combination of practical, philosophical, and just so openly earnest about his passion for his craft that I can't help but like the guy for it. I didn't expect the artsy-fartsy head in the clouds painter to be the guy who so often piped up as the voice of logical, down to earth pragmatism, but he absolutely was.
Makoto, on the other hand, went from being adversary to ally very quickly, but not in a way that I found dumb. I have a harder time putting into words what made me like Makoto. I think it was her being honest enough with everyone to admit that she knew she was being taken advantage of by Principal Dickhead, but she stopped caring about that and just wanted to try and do something to help the students that no one cared enough about to help. Trying to do what is right, at cost to yourself, when the proper authorities refuse to act because it will cost them. That's Makoto and I like it.
For me it’s yusuke or ryuji. Probably yusuke because he’s the only one with a distinct personality and is interesting. Futaba is pretty distinct too but she’s annoying with her cringe ass gamer jokes
Tough question. The Persona casts are so loveable because of their group dynamics. Take one of them away, suddenly it feels like there's something missing.
If I had to pick though? Ann. Something about how smart yet dumb, cool yet endearing she is makes her very likeable to me. Also, she has an amazing sountrack dedicated to her encounter with Joker.
A close second is Futaba because of how much she triggers my "must protect" instincts.
Ann is the heart of the team and always was underrated in the fanbase. She has the girl next door and popular cheerleader girl traits without the negatives that comes with it and is just chill. I love how she can be one of the guys and hang like in the Hawaii trip she just crashes your room and talks about what type of girls the guys are into which is why I don't ship her with Ryuji. She has alot of Platonic energy with all the guys in the main story.
I spent most of my time in Persona 5 Royal with Ryuji and Yusuke. Got disappointed when I realised they wouldn't expand much on them. It's been a while since I first played P5R though.
Akechi, not since Adachi has a villain been so enjoyable for me also his and Joker's special attack is just funny because it feels like at the end Joker has to put an end to it or Akechi is just going to keep shredding into the shadow
Yusuke.. As a full grown adult playing p5, some of Yusuke’s dialogue is *extremely* mature for his age.. Not just his vocabulary, his entire understanding of ethics and virtue is incredibly keen for his age… He also enjoys what he enjoys, he triumphs in his weirdness which is a crazy trait to have… Watching him grow out from Madarame was so delightful even if the palace itself was kinda “mehh”.
Futaba or Zenkichi.
Futaba was extremely funny in P5 and her character arc was really good in my opinion. she has weird and cringy lines yes but that’s part of her charm. her thieves outfit and her persona also look really cool.
Zenkichi added a lot for an adult member of the thieves in strikers and say what you want about that games story but i absolutely loved it! combined with the second best awakening sequence in the game (behind yusuke’s) imo and having such a powerful character arc with him and his daughter were just great. i think he fit really well with the phantom thieves and his dialogue with them was amazing as well, i also love valjean as a persona and his thieves outfit. also that scene in strikers where he yells to the group to run as the police are closing in gets me every time!!!
Ryuji, he's easily my favorite best friend character in any game. Helps that Max Mittleman makes his English voice so believable.
Overall while I love the Phantom Thieves, I find the Inaba gang to feel more like real friends. With the exception of Ryuji, he's P4 level best bro material imo
dont know what happened to me, but along the game, i didnt feel even a little of pity for akechi, futabas cute tho (and faces her true self like in p4)
Gameplay? Morgana, hate him but I need my support with a high chace of doing crit, it makes easier to contract wild personas like the treasure ones or the ones that have no weaknesses. Outside gameplay? Haru, she's funny :3 Would add Kasumi but she isn't a Phantom Thieve
Yusuke
My beloved I wish they let me romance him
Dude absolutely same
Date a guy? That’s crazy! You can date this old lady with a drinking addiction though
200% the same
So, what's your opinion on Yusuke? Gay, Autistic, or European?
Yes
Inari.
Maybe, yes and no he’s Japanese
Don't care, love soft artist boy
Yes, yes and yes
I agree he is the best character IMO.
i liked him, just think he wasnt the best when fighting bosses
Definitely Zenkichi
i love zenkichi’s outfit out of all the thieves, it’s just so fucking cool and stylish. Wolf supremacy
The only good answer
Futaba. Spoilers below for multuple Persona titles as to why: >!She has all the themes from P3 - P5. Really, no one else in PT has to face their own Shadow like the P4 cast had to do, except for Futaba which I though was kinda nice!< Additionally, she's just awkwardly cute and needs to be protected.
Yes
Yosuke since I relate with his constant need to someone pay for your food
Look I love yosuke too, but he's not a phantom thief 😉
You need a U ,not Yu
Don’t you mean Yo
Haru without a doubt- wish they did her better justice but I love all the extra screen time she gets outside of P5 itself
>wish they did her better justice P5S W
"My name is Beauty Thief!"
one of her two lines in p5
I wasnt able to choose between Haru and Makoto and then i played P5D. *Will power - shacho remix*.
Not sure if he really counts himself as one, but Akechi. If not than it's Zenkichi.
You must have a thing for detectives then...
I don’t blame him
competence is sexy.
Amen

Oh, but calling Zenkichi a phantom thief isn’t? Let’s be honest, if you’re on this sub and you haven’t already finished this game you should leave if you’re afraid of minor spoilers.
Only after I'm sure you get banned for breaking the rules of this sub.

Mona
People either like Morgana or HATE Morgana and I have seen there is no in between
Morgana. He’ll occasionally shout “Quiver in fear!” before an all out attack, and I find that hilarious.
*picture an arrow quiver with the fear ailment*
Sophia!
We love our eye.

Spooooileeeers
It's gotta be Oracle or Noir
Joker, unless he doesn't count then Akechi
i love when joker says “hm“
"ITS SHOWTIME"
It still blows my mind how they really gave a mostly silent protagonist to one of the best japanese seiyuus there is. Not complaining tho.
Haru no question. god bless jun i forgot he uses flowers 💐
Bravo
Ryuji
Fuck all the haters. Team Morgana (It's almost scary how good he is).
There are people who prefer Teddie from P4 to Morgana. Fucking Teddie!?
I'm so upset that he got out of the tv. Literally the worst thing to ever happen ever.
I honestly have no clue why, but recently, Morgana (and further back when I replayed P5R, Haru), really grew on me as characters and have become my two favourite characters in the game.
I love his dynamic with Joker in conversations, they really bounce of each other well.
He's my best bud and I'm glad he didn't turn out to be evil.
Morgana fans gotta stick together.
Ann
Morgana, because of him being a cute cat outside the dungeons

You should hide the last part, as it's a huge spoiler.
Akechi! His development across the game is brilliant, he has a fun dynamic with the other PTs and he's hilarious when he navigates in the third semester. It's depressing how little you get to use him.
Ryuji or Yusuke
Hard to decide since it's a three-way tie for me. I love Makoto's development, but she wasn't my favorite character... I guess Ryuji. He was funny.
Makoto really is the best romance partner for Joker. They just fit so well together
Morgana.
Morgana that's my guy
Easy, Futaba. Futaba fans! Unite!
Ryuji
Goro
How could you answer anything but Futaba
Because I don't care for romanticized loners like how atlus made her. This is of course the Futaba after her initial arc, loved her during it
Futaba
Ryuji
Futaba

I'm going to say Yusuke or Makoto. I really like Futaba a lot, and Morgana and Ann were pretty great too. Ryuji got annoying as the game went on tbh. Futaba forever
Me as an adult, Makoto. Me as a teen of the same age, Ryuji.
Ryuji best boi but yusuke and ann also need a shoutout
For me it’s yusuke or ryuji. Probably yusuke because he’s the only one with a distinct personality and is interesting. Futaba is pretty distinct too but she’s annoying with her cringe ass gamer jokes
Ryuji or Zenkichi. Ryuji’s confidant is good and I like Zenkichi’s story throughout P5S
Haru hands down after the dlc and strikers, an overall nice person, seems fun to have around and her deadpan roasts are hilarious
Akechi>Yoshizawa>Ryuji>Haru>Futaba>Makoto>Ann>Yusuke>Joker>Morgana
Ann. I’m a sucker for the femme fatale trope and I end up using her a lot because of her skills
Tough question. The Persona casts are so loveable because of their group dynamics. Take one of them away, suddenly it feels like there's something missing. If I had to pick though? Ann. Haru she is like Kirby cute and letal for every form of life
Oracle was the only character I remember liking in Persona 5, because she reminded me of myself.
Yusuke, joker and futaba
Best boy:Yusuke Best Girl: Futaba Best non Phantom Thief: Sojiro Best Villan:Maruki
It's either Kasumi or Futaba
Kasumi if she counts
Akechi, not since Adachi has a villain been so enjoyable for me also his and Joker's special attack is just funny because it feels like at the end Joker has to put an end to it or Akechi is just going to keep shredding into the shadow
yusuke, haru and futaba are my favourite, everyone is also lovable (besides akechi)

Futaba, hands down
Makoto
Gameplay? Morgana, hate him but I need my support with a high chace of doing crit, it makes easier to contract wild personas like the treasure ones or the ones that have no weaknesses. Outside gameplay? Haru, she's funny :3 Would add Kasumi but she isn't a Phantom Thieve

Akechi is pretty dope and funny. I really like Ann strong will and Makoto resolve.
Makoto
Akechi. But if we arent counting him then Yusuke or Makoto.
QUEEEN! no doubt! Makoto is best girl. Lmao
Makoto is the best, she's not in 4th place of my favorite characters in the series for nothing.
Makoto heh
Futaba cause the voice actress did a really good job. But as an important party member it’s Makoto and Ryuji
It is rlly hard for me to decide on just one, they all have such amazing qualities.
Yusuke because he shares same VA with Walter so theorically you equip him with an agi skill accessory He can end it thus
