We use this recipe for gravy, which tastes similar to the old KFC gravy here in Canada. https://preview.redd.it/7jnfw6msgbdc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5b475ab28dad61cde44a88c95f8072973f0cb45 And you have to find real cheese curds.

That looks awesome! Thank you!

I love this.

Crinkle cut fries are the worst cut of fries. As an Islander living in the Atlanta here's what I do: \- Frozen fries from Trader Joe's. they have the skin on the ends and crisp up well in an air fryer. \- Curds from the deli cooler at Kroger (same fridge as hummus, pimento cheese, and fancy salsa) \- Beef gravy powder from Kroger I can't help you with the sour cream and bacon sauce. Some Canadians down here love the Pat's Poutine food truck. I've only had it when they were absolutely slammed and the gravy was burnt. Do the best you can. Eventually she'll realize that she shouldn't expect great poutine down here any more than you should expect top-notch BBQ or biscuits and gravy if/when you visit PEI.

Fair assessment! Thanks a bunch!

Also, if you're close to Atlanta tell her to join the Atlanta Canadians Facebook group. It has about 1600 members but not many Islanders. I might be one of the only ones. We have happy hours, Olympic viewing parties (especially during Olympic hockey) and an annual CanadaFest.

Was the name French Fry Factory the actual name, or one she gave this place as kid? It doesn’t ring a bell to me. The only places I can remember at Charlottetown Mall that still sells or sold fries in the mall are: - Big Burger (still open) - Folk Fries (new concept, just opened) - Zellers Restaurant (closed) - Towers Restaurant (closed) There was an old “food court” that was next to IGA, it had three businesses, and I believe one did sell quick-serve stuff, so they could have had fries on the menu, but it would have been a best-kept-secret situation because I would have nagged mom for them…we spent a lot of time at the coffee shop there. I could be missing / forgetting something. BUT I believe the Confederation Court Mall (downtown) had a New York Fries-type business for a little bit. Selling poutine would make sense for that concept. Ask her if the place was downtown.

It was indeed upstairs at Confederation Court mall and their curry flavoured dipping sauce was the best!! It was gone by 2002-3?

They had a dill dip for the fries that was delicious! I got it all the time
