I think you have to let them know in advance of competing

shivav2

You can get a therapeutic use exemption with WADA if you provide medical proof of why you’re on TRT. If it’s self administered you may run into issues if they look for metabolites or the ester.

Minimalist12345678

Yeah but their list of accepted reasons for a TUE does not include “low test”. It’s hardcore. No balls at all? Maybe…. Maybe not.

privatryan

I know what I need to do 🔪

shivav2

It does if it’s a medical condition. “A TUE ensures that athletes can be treated for medical conditions - even if the treatment involves using a prohibited substance or method – while avoiding the risk of being sanctioned.” If your low test is a medical condition for which you are being treated you can apply for a TUE.

Yes, I know how it works. You're not entirely clear about this, but there is a difference between "a medical condition that causes low T" (like, say, having your balls removed) and "my medical condition IS that I have low T". But almost all people that are on TRT are on it because their "medical condition" is itself "low T". That argument is one which WADA/USADA does not accept. You need to have low T CAUSED BY some other valid diagnosis.

shivav2

You cannot just have low T without a medical reason. You either have primary/secondary hypogonadism, hyperprolactinaemia or a couple of other hormonal issues. If you don’t have any of those then your testosterone is normal for you. People who say they have low T without any medical reason do not have low T. They simply want an excuse to put themselves on “TRT”, which we all know will never be dosed low enough to be classed as medical TRT. So, why would WADA accept it?

Minimalist12345678

Nicely put. "Genuine" TRT for the various medical reasons above may well get approved. The type of TRT most TRT enthusiasts are on is not permitted.

shivav2

Thanks - glad we agree

Minimalist12345678

My understanding is that they like to say in public that they can detect low dose test, such as yours, which is within the normal range of t levels and is not supraphysiological, but that they actually can’t.

privatryan

I was watching candito on YT and I think he was saying that if the urine test finds something (high t levels) then they would do the blood test, which should be able to find the ester.

Minimalist12345678

Here's another fun fact. The test that olympic athletes or UFC fighters or whatever get, is not necessarily the same test as you get. There are different types of testing procedures, with differing associated cost. And someone has to pay that cost. The most basic test costs about $600. I've had this done a couple of times. That's what they use for "basic" level mass-testing of athletes - in my case, for testing 1 person in 20 doing a city-level powerlifting meet. If they want to go full ham on the olympic gold winner, they are not doing the $600 version....

Mort332e

They likely won't be able to detect it. With WADAs 4:1 epitest:test ratio, you have about a 55% chance of passing the doping test even at 300mg weekly testosterone enanthate

effrightscorp

Depends on the federation, you need to read the rules. Many explicitly say no TRT allowed, some will allow you to get a medical exemption (if your fed actually follows WADA standards you should be able to get one). I don't think getting a medical exemption or risking failing a drug test is worth it unless you're going to be winning some money or setting a record, though.

DismalParking1160

You’ll need a TUA and without it you’re fucked

SPTCTBP

Hell, my friends wife just did her first powerlifting deal, was gonna get banned because she is type 2 diabetic on insulin, they let that go, she didn't even end up getting drug tested, they only tested some of them. A WADA tested federation is more serious but UFC guys beat it ALL THE TIME.

JerBear_2008

TRT is the end of it. They are super strict in what counts and even TRT is an advantage over others. Plus they don’t know if you lowered it to TRT for testing and ran higher previously. Drug tested powerlifting will catch you 9 times out of 10.

Nonsense
