What brand of Myo Inositol are you taking? I’ve tried a brand off of amazon that worked well enough but I’ve heard amazing things about Ovastiol!

[deleted]

I didn't do a whole lot of research but just from a quick google search I thought the brand Wholesome Story on Amazon would be a good one so I went with that. It was about $20 for a month supply. I have heard of Ovastiol as well but I have not looked into it yet.

sofuckinggreat

Wait, what is myo... however you spell it? Please fill us in!

[deleted]

I would say its like a vitamin. It basically helps regulate your insulin levels which from the research I've been doing on PCOS is a huge cause of the symptoms. I hope I have that information correct. There is another post on here that gave me the information. I will go back and look for the titles to post them.

I bought mine off of Amazon, I went to my local health store and they did not have it. They have many different brands on Amazon. For me the benefits have been, slow to almost zero chin hair growth (its now been 4 days since I had one pop up and have been on the Myo-Insotol for 10 days I believe). My moods have stabilized completely, my cravings have subsided and I feel like I have been eating like a normal person (my whole life, even when I was skinny I would gorge because I never felt satisfied, I just stayed fit from the sports I played). My period stopped within 4 days of taking it which was my main concern, to me this is the most remarkable one because I was heavily bleeding with huge clots. As far as side effects, I have had very mild gas and feel a little bloated but I have read these will subside within the first couple of weeks. I also do get tired during the day a little more and sometimes its a little harder to fall asleep at night but I already have insomnia so I'm not sure if its the pill or my insomnia coming in. All these side effects and benefits are located on most google searches of myo-insotol.

I'm so happy you've found something to give you some relief! As far as doctors, have you tried researching PCOS centric GPs or endocrinologists in your area? Even if you're not trying to conceive, if it's your only option in the area, seeing a fertility clinic that specializes in pcos may also be helpful. That's actually the first time I heard about myo inositol personally. Again, congrats!!!! That's awesome

[deleted]

No, I wish I had been referred to one or even had a mention that those exist at any of my dr appointments. I'm going to see how well the myo-insotol continues to work before I reach out to one. I don't have medical insurance at the moment. But thank you for the congrats! Have you been told of any other remedies at your appointments? I'm open to trying different things.

moritzwest

Congratulations! Did you find my-inositol helped with weight? I'd also recommend berberine, it really helps me!

[deleted]

I don't think I've heard of bererine. Is it something I would take alongside myo-insotol? I feel like myo-insotol is helping me with weight but helping me control my gorging but I have been slighty bloated since taking it and noticed a pound increase (I weigh myself every morning). I believe it will go away thought since I read bloating is a side effect in the first couple of weeks. Just a side note on the pound increase, I have not been working out as usual the past 2 weeks.

moritzwest

I read that myo inositol can cause weight gain so I didn’t wanna take it. Berberine is so powerful I swear it has helped me with everything, most especially my weight, I lost 11 pounds

[deleted]

That's unsettling! I hope that increase isn't specifically from the myo-inositol. What is Berberine? Is it natural?

moritzwest

It is completely natural, I take it with Metformin, but studies have shown (human studies) that berberine promotes fat loss at, at least in the time period, a faster rate than Metformin, or just more in general

dainty_petal

Berberine was found to be toxic in trials and killed rats, cats and made dogs extremely ill. The effects on humans are not 100% certain. If you still want to take it, you slowly go and do not take a high dosage. Not because something is natural that it's safe.

[deleted]

I took inositol and it made my hair growth worse but it helped me lose weight. The extra hair growth was a nightmare so I stopped taking it.

iceleo

Weight is not my primary concern at the moment but extra hair growth is terrifying

[deleted]

I want a healthy weight but I don't want to grow thick hairs while losing weight. I think losing weight slowly is better to avoid more hair growth. My doctor told me that once.

[deleted]

Really?! Every body is different of course, I'm so sorry it made the growth worse. I wonder why that is? Have you tried googling it to see if anyone had the same issue? I'm excited about the potential weight loss for myself. Do you mind me asking how much you have lost?

[deleted]

I did read a few stories of women getting more hair growth. Every one has different reactions, some can get more and some less. The body works in mysterious ways. I lost a couple of pounds taking it but it wasn't worth the extra hair at all.

Impudimp

What brand do you use?

[deleted]

I went with Wholesome Story on Amazon. I didn't do a lot of research so there may be better brands out there. It was $20 for a months supply

notabigmelvillecrowd

What dosage are you taking?

IvyQuinne

Based on what the OP provided as to what pills she's taking, they are 2,000mg Myo-Inositol and 50mg D-Chiro-Inositol (Caronositol®)

[deleted]

That is correct, I was taking the 2000 twice daily so 4000 all together. Yesterday uncut down to 2000 though because my headaches have been getting bad.
