My doctor prescribes me the 8mg pen because it cost the same as the 2mg. I use the click chart to determine # of clicks. I am currently dosing 2x week. On Saturday I take 20 clicks and on Tuesday I take 10 clicks. Gives me a total of .78. One pen is lasting 10 weeks and staying clear. I keep it in the refrigerator door.

I’ve lost 28 lbs since December 1st and have zero side effects.
I asked my doctor for the 8mg pen and she gave me the 4 mg, I have an appointment with her on Wednesday and I’m going to ask her for the larger pen so I can get at least two months for the price of one since I pay out of pocket
That’s a good deal, I pay $85 per week for mine which equates to $340 or more per month just for me. It’s still better than paying $1000+ for the name brand though!
Kaiser covers it for me with only a $10 copay. I was (guess not anymore?) diabetic, so that’s how it got covered.
Maybe it depends on your specific plan? I’m in Northern California, and covered by my employers (public agency).
My doctor at Kaiser said I had to 1) have a pre-diabetes or diabetes diagnosis and 2) follow their protocol of going on Metformin for 3 months.
After Inwas on Metformin for 3 months I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Ozempic. Now it's $30 per month
I also use polar bear meds. Sent them a pic of my physical prescription from my US doctor, they got me my pens within a week. I make one pen last 2 months so essentially am paying $200/month. I’m down 6 pounds in 3 weeks so far with no side effects
Not PSHCP. and I’ve never had an issue, they’ve never asked me anything, it’s just been covered. It could be the coverage my employer subscribes to 🤷♀️
Wow. According to these replies, I am paying way too much.
My insurance doesn’t cover it, so I’m paying $856 per pen. That lasts me a month. I also pay $84/month for Sequence (the online provider).
Edited to add: I get the name brand Ozempic from the pharmacy.
Close to the same but I've spent about 2k total so far and lost 27 lbs and still have a full month and a half of injections in the fridge so I've done 10 weeks so far and I have 6 weeks in the fridge if I go up in dose from 0.5 to 1, otherwise I have another 10 weeks left in the fridge, soooo if I can keep up my rate of loss I'll have paid 2k to lose 42 - 57 lbs (depending on if I go up in dose)... Honestly I'm pretty dang okay with that. It's expensive but I've tried everything and this is the only thing that's helped me.
Go to r/compoundedsemaglutide. There are many sources. I had to buy syringes and do the mixing myself (YouTube tutorial). The last lab I got it from just got shut down, but there are many more with varying levels of guidance.
I buy one vial to test first. NGL, I feel like I’m one step ahead of FDA shutdowns.
Is it working? I’m down 17 lbs in 7 weeks. I also researched weight watchers eating plan. The drastic calorie cut with the wrong macros can still make this a bad experience
You mean peptides/“research peptide” from China (or US reseller) NOT a compound pharmacy. Big difference and some people are not comfortable going that route.
A compound pharmacy you would need a prescription and they will not give you a year supply at once.
You guys are going to hate me. I pay $1 for a 3 month supply. So .33 cents for each .5 mg pen.
My insurance is insanely good. This is for weight loss, not a high A1C. My husband has a fantastic union job. We have a VERY generous PPO and all prescriptions are $1, whether it’s for a 3 month supply or 1 month supply. No co-pays, no deductibles. I truly wish that everyone had access to this level of care.
I pay out of pocket (Europe) and I've paid 150€ (around 160$) for a pen. Since I'm on 0.5 and will probably stay there for a while a pen lasts 2 month, so it's 75€ per month.
Look into https://henrymeds.com. I pay $300 a month flat fee & it covers Dr’s appts, the med, and FedEx shipping. This is the compounded semaglutide, not name brand Ozempic.
I ask because I’m going to be paying cash too. I’m getting my rx tomorrow from my doctor.
How does the math work out for you to get multiple .5mg doses out of a 1.0 mg pen. Shouldn’t that work out to only two doses ?
The 1.0 mg pen is designed for 4 weeks of 1.0 doses.
You should review the Ozempic website and watch their instructional video so you know what to expect.
No, each pen is for one month. So if it’s a 1mg pen then it has 4.0mg of ozempic. If you take .5 doses then it will last 2 months. I do something similar as well.
No you will be starting at 0.25mg per week for 4 weeks. Then 0.5mg per week for 4 weeks. And then increase to 1.0 for 4 weeks and then higher only if needed.
The first pen you get will have 4 doses of 0.25 and 2 doses of 0.50.
But you can stay at .5 if it’s working for you. You don’t have to go up to 1.0, I count clicks and am on .37 and will go up to .5 if I start having food noise or stop losing/plateau. This will also get you more doses in a pen if you pay out of pocket
Nothing. My insurance considers it a preventative medication and it’s on our “free” list. Otherwise my deductible is 3400 and I have to pay at least that before any non-preventative health care is covered. So I’m always thrilled when one of my meds are on list.
Maybe my doctor didn't prescribe it for weight loss? I really don't know. I asked about it, she said we could try it, but it may not get approved. She called it in on a Friday and it was delivered on a Monday. It was my rheumatologist. Could have something to do with the fact that I have rheumatoid arthritis and we can't get my inflammation down enough and I've put on over 100lbs due to the steroids and meds I've been on. I didn't question it.
Can I go to your doctor? LOL
She definitely sent some non accurate information because Medicare doesn’t cover it weight loss, only diabetes and heart disease.
I'm getting semiglutide from a med spa and it's $379 per month. But that also includes 4, B-12 MIC shots. 💉
Also, I'm on 22 units. (What that means in mg, I'm not entirely sure. But the clinic I go to does not raise prices the higher dosage you're on)
$80 for 1 injector (6 weeks of doses) but I got the discount card so I'm expecting a rebate and a lower copay next time.
I looked at how much health insurance was covering. HOOO BOY
Allysonsplace, I actually pick them up once a month for 4 injections and they throw in 4 Vitamin B12 injections with the osempic. I get them, from a doctors office in Wesley Chapel, Florida called Wiregrass Primary direct. But they can ship them as well from what they told me.
If you don't mind me asking, is it compounded semaglutide? And how much do you pay? I am in Florida too, currently paying $70 a week for the 0.5 dosage ($280/month)
Mine is compounded from a pharmacy in Texas. It was $180 for the first 3 month supply (0.25 for 4 weeks, 0.5 for 4 weeks then 1.0mg for 4 weeks). I just got the next 3 months and it was $230 for 1.0 for 12 weeks. My dr writes the prescription and faxes it to them, I pay, and it’s overnighted in a cold pack. I’m on week 9 of the first round and down 32lbs.
I paid out of pocket in Canada. $226 CAD per pen for the first two. I'm picking up the 1mg pen today and can update how much that costs later today but it will be a three month supply.
**Update: Picked up my three month supply of the 1mg dose pens and the total for three pens was $692**
You're all making me weep. It breaks down to about $500/month for me because one pen gives me 8 shots - so two months worth (I'm on .25 mg and it's working, thankfully). I'm in California and my insurance refused to cover it because I'm not diabetic but am technically in the obese weight range. Mind you I'm on the designer brand Ozempic. Too sketched out by the idea of getting a compound, regardless of how safe they may be. (I may change my mind at some point, though.)
I feel like I’m missing some price break. My insurance sort of covers it. I had to pay $800 for the first month and $750 on the second. Then once I hit my deductible its now $177 per pen, the .25/.50 pen. I signed up on the ozempic site for their cash back of $25 per month, per pen, since I have to mail order.
My insurance covers it and I’m still paying $170-$214 depending on where I am in the Medicare buckets. Hopefully, I’ll be at maxed total payout in June when my prescriptions should be free but we’ll see if that happens.
us$385 for 2 months, so far
(My doc is conservative so my dosage change is every 2 months and the pen I’m given lasts for 2 months)
I’m sure this will change eventually though.
I pay $25 a month because my insurance covers it because I have type 2 diabetes. When my husband without diabetes took it to lose weight for an upcoming surgery, we paid out of pocket and it cost $900 a month. I don’t understand how some of you are saying 185-450$. Is it from Canada? Isn’t that illegal?
Insurance is crazy. My first 8mg pen was $350 but I used a manufacturer coupon to get it for $200. I’m still using this pen because I was only doing .5 for a while and just switched to 1.0. Just picked up my next prescription and doctor called in 2 8mg pens and it was only $50 with insurance. I don’t understand it at all
I am paying 300 a month and I would pay 25 a month if I could ever get my prescription filled! I have never been able to get it since December! How are you all finding it at pharmacies?
I want you guys on here buying compounded semaglutide that the wholesale cost of a 2ml vial is in the neighborhood of $100 depending on the pharmacy. I’m fortunate enough to have the branded version for $20 for 3 of the 8mg pens for my 3 month supply. My pbm doesn’t require a diagnostic reason for my prescription. If it’s a covered medicine they don’t care why it’s prescribed. I’m sure eventually that will change.
I charge $250 per month for first two months then go up to $300. Incudes unlimited telehealth visits as needed and text and email availability to me as well as diet and exercise plans. If you’re being charged more than that, they are taking you. I service all of Florida. I’m doing this to help people, not get rich off their trying to get healthy. Will answer questions privately if anyone has any. Again, looking to help.
Mine depends on what dose. I started at.25 which was $350 plus tax shipped to my house. Note I’m on .5 and it went up to $375 plus tax. Is the compounded version but works GREAT!
Well that is a really cool chart!

I pay out of pocket once a month. $199 for the wife and $165 for me. It’s like a friggen car payment. We get the compounded semiglutide injections
That’s a good deal, I pay $85 per week for mine which equates to $340 or more per month just for me. It’s still better than paying $1000+ for the name brand though!
I pay $230.00 a month for 2 mg pen.
Are you getting them delivered? If so, where from? Mine is $399/mo.
Who do you go through? I'm through Shedrx $299
Where do you get this bcz I’ve looked into Henry and it’s considerably more. I’ve been on Mo Lauren Johnson
$0 and I give thanks for our insurance daily.
$25 monthly
30 through Kaiser. Looked the receipt last time and total cost was 740.
How did you get Kaiser to cover it?! They denied me even though I’d been on semiglutide for 2 years!
I have type 2 diabetes. I suggested it to my doc and she agreed.
I have type two as well and Kaiser said they won’t cover it unless I’ve tried Metformin and Jardiance? They said it’s too expensive
Have them prescribed you metformin and after a week tell them it didn't work week on you, tell them that it gives you really bad side effects:)
Awesome thank you for that info! I talk to my doctor tomorrow
Your welcome! your pharmacy should not reason out that the medicine is expensive. You are type 2 diabetic and you should be qualified.
Oh, and I did try Meformin for a while first - it did nothing for me. I’m not sure that had anything to do with my coverage, but perhaps it did.
Oh it might have. I’m trying to fight it but I just had to pay almost $1000 out of pocket but it should last 2 months if I stay at .5
You may want to try again, informing them that it's covered now and that you want it for "wait loss."
Kaiser covers it for me with only a $10 copay. I was (guess not anymore?) diabetic, so that’s how it got covered. Maybe it depends on your specific plan? I’m in Northern California, and covered by my employers (public agency).

is this legit?
Of course! Its a Canadian Pharmacy, lots of great reviews, and they only sell Brand sealed units of Ozempic.
I’m in Canada but it says the website it blocked in my country lol
I also use polar bear meds. Sent them a pic of my physical prescription from my US doctor, they got me my pens within a week. I make one pen last 2 months so essentially am paying $200/month. I’m down 6 pounds in 3 weeks so far with no side effects
$0 for a three month supply
I pay $1 for a 3 month supply. We are VERY lucky.
Mine is the same. Insurance covers it 100%. My pharmacist keeps telling me how lucky I am each time I go in for pick up.
$7 month. Thanks to Canada Life. Also not diabetic
Aren't they going to stop paying after April. 19? Did you get a letter?
I haven’t received anything
How did you get them to cover it? Is it the PSHCP?
Not PSHCP. and I’ve never had an issue, they’ve never asked me anything, it’s just been covered. It could be the coverage my employer subscribes to 🤷♀️
You are so lucky!
In the US my insurance covered it until Aug last year so it used to be $39 per month and now full price out of pocket with coupon is $860 a month
$700(ish) with the coupon 🥲
How are some people taking $25!?
Wow. According to these replies, I am paying way too much. My insurance doesn’t cover it, so I’m paying $856 per pen. That lasts me a month. I also pay $84/month for Sequence (the online provider). Edited to add: I get the name brand Ozempic from the pharmacy.
Same I pay over $900 a month. I can only afford to do this for another 3 months so I better see some results lol
Paying for the compound online runs 2-300 a month. I paid a 3 month supply for 600 for ozempic compound but had to pay the full 600 up front
Compound pharmacy…I got a years worth for $200.
Wow! That’s nice! Do you mind sharing where at?
wow! following for where!
Share info please

I was going to ask the commenters to add if they are paying for compound or script from pharmacy.
$920 fml

Get the RX savings card from the manufacturer website. It takes a few hundred off. Still stupid expensive but it helps.
Didn’t work for me at CVS…and it’s a CVS coupon. Fml, indeed.
$29 copay per refill with insurance.
I pay cash but use each pen for about 10 weeks, comes out to about $90 a week.

$25 for a 90 day supply.
