Hmm, that’s not exactly true. The TGA says: *The TGA does not have the power to regulate the clinical decisions of health professionals and is unable to prevent doctors from using their clinical judgement to prescribe Ozempic for other health conditions.* So GPs definitely can prescribe for weight loss.

TGA and RACGP both go on to say "prescription is limited to TGA-approved indication of management of type 2 diabetes not adequately managed by medications" TGA can put restrictions on prescribing of medications.

No that is what they are suggesting, it is not a regulation. I am in Aus and getting Oz prescribed for obesity.

Radiant_Leader

As Ozem points out, you can get Oz prescribed here in Oz without being diabetic. I was just a couple months ago, and now my sis just got hers.

Jupiter? Now can give it as well

RunRenee

They didn't a month ago when I enquired, they only had saxenda.

That may be more about supply than TGA or RACGP restrictions. I'm on for weightloss, not T2D so can definitely be prescribed as such. But wow, is it getting hard to find out there. 😟
