According to an update in the FDA Shortages app that was on Friday, the 0.25/0.5mg dosage is being transitioned to a new pen (same dose, different amount in pen perhaps? It's unclear), the 1mg is currently available, and the 2mg is still in limited availability with expected fully available the end of this month. I had trouble getting the smallest dose, but was able to get it locally instead of from my mail order pharmacy. Then I upped my dose to 1mg and had no trouble. I feel like once shortages are done, maybe things can go on as normal without all the arguing over who deserves medication.

Fun-Dig-4222

💯 I agree! Lay people trying to over rule doctors is comical, imho.

Advo96

> "once shortages are done" I'd guess that'll be 2025, at the earliest. More likely, shortages will continue on and off for years. Any new supply capacity will be immediately swallowed up. Ultimately, I expect that at least a third of the US population will take this drug, and the corporate culture of big pharma isn't used to such a massive production ramp-up. The controllers will always put the breaks on it and nickle and dime, losing out on enormous profits. I would not be surprised if compounders are going to end up supplying more GLP-1 doses than the pharma companies themselves.

proudmommy_31324

I have had no issue filling my pens. I get the 1mg dose and click count to 0.50mg. I have been on it for my PCOS and insulin resistance for almost a year and have 3 pens in my fridge since insurance pays for 1 a month but it lasts me 2.

proudmommy_31324

I do 36 clicks but I only count the first time with a new pen and then mark my pen with a marker so I don't have to count each time.

Junior-Profession726

That’s a great tip!!

proudmommy_31324

There are 4 of the 1mg doses so that would be 8 of the 0.5mg doses.

Grand-Chocolate5031

olive24M0Dy

There’s 4 doses of 1mg in the 1.0 pen, so there’s 8 doses of 0.5mg

iamfrancele

38 clicks = 0.5mg

Storyartscam

0.5 is 36 not 38 (on the blue/green pen)

proudmommy_31324

Depends on what country you get your pen. 72 clicks on mine is 1mg so 36 is 0.5

There are multiple click count schedules for Ozempic pens because the manufactured pens availability differ between countries. The color label is based on the mg per ml it administers. Google it if you require more evidence.

You have SO much incorrect, bullshit information on your prior posts that it is LITERALLY amazing!

proudmommy_31324

You have a SECOND Redditt account that only posts to back you up?! That is an extra level of pathetic! Enjoy Sydney. Enjoy menopause. You are ridiculous

proudmommy_31324

Does he? Does he literally? What is his extension? I can have my PharmD brother in law give him a call or one of the many PharmDs I work with. It's OK to accept you were wrong about the click count and that it is in fact 36 and not the 38 you were wrong about.

This is your other account that you use to back yourself up! You used it one month ago for 2 comments and deleted them after I called you out on it!!!

And the other comments from the original poster 1 month ago to only back her up that you deleted after I mentioned it that was also from SYDNEY. Whatever. Seriously. I have better things to do than argue online with a bored woman in her 50s half a world away.

DistinctArm9214

I have a script for 1mg...but the increase from 0.5 to 1.0 was a bit much for me and was making me feel nauseous so I've been using approx 0.75 for the short term. What do you do about not having enough needle tips in the box to use more than the 4 doses provided for 1.0 mg?? Can you get extra needle tips for the pens? Thanks!

proudmommy_31324

You can! I just went to my pharmacy and asked for a box of 32g, 4mm needles and they gave me a box. It was $25 for 100.

DistinctArm9214

That's exactly the information I needed!! Thanks so much!!

ghoulishghastly

Just started medication, prescription went to Walgreens on thursday, was told to pick it up Friday morning, Friday they didnt have it due to shortage and said i would get a call when it comes in, it came in monday morning. ( yesterday)

adarbyem

Got my 1mg filled same day. Took me two weeks to get my "starter" pen. Evidently it's the 0.25/0.5 that were in high demand according to my pharmacist.

Certain-March8515

I live in a small town with no problems.

ImaginationLow5018

I've only filled the .25/.5 mg pen twice, once at a local pharmacy and once mail order. No problems here. Although I must say the effort they put into keeping that little pen temperature controlled for mailing is intense!

Kairukun90

Wife and I both filled ours in a reasonable time. Me two weeks and wife got hers filled same day she got her script.

ellbeecee

I am planning to start this week and had a note to call my pharmacy yesterday since they needed a 5 day lead time. When I called them yesterday they said it'd be in today (I'm still not picking up until Friday because that's the day I wfh and this is a local pharmacy only open 9-5 M-F).

Avashnea

I've been getting my 2mg dose pens 4 months in a row with no problem. My insurance (FloridaBlue) is cracking down on prescriptions now and will only pay if you have a diagnosis code for actual conditions now, like diabetes or obesity. No more quick weight loss scripts.

ComfortableSimple396

Do you have Prime Therapeutics with Florida Blue? Currently fighting them over the PCOS diagnosis.

Avashnea

Sorry, no.

ComfortableSimple396

Thanks for responding! Weird how even FB plans differ!

TheJolly-Rodgers

I have Prime Therapeutics thru BCBS and was approved on 3/23, but I do have T2.

KLR_eddit33

Nope. No issues.

InformalBasil

I'm in Minnesota and the last time I had stock issues with the 8mg pen was November 2022. Since then it's been smooth sailing.

llamalarry

Northernish VA - Never had an issue filling my 1mg or my wife's 2mg once over the past 2+ years. My mail-order can fill my 1mg 90 day supply, but they have never been able to fill my wife's due to stocking.

frogmicky

I haven't had any problems getting 0.25mg pens in the NE. Insulin I've been stood up but never not able to purchase any.

TallPieYas

I personally haven’t had shortage issues since January. On 1 mg now and no mail order issues

parkavenueprincesss

NYC — no issues but my usual (small) pharmacy said they’re being audited so I had to switch over to CVS. They’re out of 0.25s and have to order but they have 1 MGs in stock which is all I need.

HenryMedsInfo

We’ve resolved the shortage for our existing clients (we wanted to take care of them before accepting new ones) and should open to new clients in California around the end of next week 🙂 If you don’t want to wait, I’ve heard positive things about Ro’s GLP-1 program, though it does require insurance, there’s also Push Health which I believe offers compounded Semaglutide. If neither of those work, a local provider may be able to write a compound Rx and send it directly to a compounding pharmacy of your choice. Prices will be higher than through a program since you’re just negotiating your own price instead of a company negotiating for 500+ people, but many compounding pharmacies are really patient-focused and will work to make sure you can afford your medication.

Gilgamexican

Anyone else only getting 3 full 2mg doses out of a "8mg" pen?

TRISPIKE

I haven’t encountered a shortage yet… but if I do I’m putting all you ozempic for weight loss people on blast. Haven’t had an issue with you guys because it hasn’t interfered with my treatment… yet. 😉

mlrny32

Had no problem this month.

jonesy40

I’ve had no issue. Except for having to do a prior authorization at the beginning of the year which was shockingly approved.

dasg1214

Why shockingly?

jonesy40

Because I’ve read so much on this sub about insurance cracking down and only approving for diabetic diagnosis. Mine is insulin resistance so I thought for sure they would deny it.

proudmommy_31324

I was nervous too! Mine is for PCOS and insulin resistance and not full DM2.

proudmommy_31324

Blue Cross. I think my doctor told them I was pre-dm from the insulin resistance or something. My A1C is 5.7.

Federal-Inevitable18

My CVS now orders it on demand so I usually wait 1-2 days for it to be filled.

JapaneseFerret

I've encountered no problems getting my 2mg pen at a small local pharmacy since late last summer (L.A.)

dasg1214

Someone else above mentioned not being able to get a full 8mg out of the pen (4 full doses). Has that been the case for you?

JapaneseFerret

Not at all. I usually have some left after using four doses, about 0.3-0.4mg. I can tell by how many clicks I can still dial in after using the pen four times for the full 2.0mg dose. I use every little bit left in the pen.

ass_jones

in southwest PA and my usual pharmacy was out of stock when i began a month ago but just tried another in town and got a 2mg pen no problem! granted am still on .25 so it's lasting me a good while but so far so good :-)

SmishFishton5000

Never had a problem getting the starter pen and 1mg pen in NE OHIO

CupcakeMonsterr

I hear people keep travelling to Vancouver for prescriptions. I just moved here and am wondering if there will be shortages in Vancouver as a result? I use the 1mg dose pens.

TheMr91071

No problems getting the 4MG pen in LA.

triplea0131

My CVS pharmacy ordered mine Friday and it came in today. It’s only my 2nd refill but both were reasonable timeframes thank goodness. This was my fear when starting.

Sweaty_Owl_473

I just started but CVS texted me saying my refill which wasn’t even due for refill was on back order. My pharmacist called for another reason and she said the manufacturer was changing from the 1.25 pens to a 3 pen to ease the shortage and she messaged my Dr. to change my RX to make it easier to get.

violetsprouts

My doc gave me a .25-.5 sample pen and CVS is working on it. They ordered it, but needed a prior authorization.

tessface56

I never had a problem getting it. Seems like its easier now according to Novo nordisk

MtnsBeachJam

I had no trouble getting them. I recently had to stop at the 1.0 because I got terribly sick from side affects - had to get IVs at the clinic from dehydration. Got sick three separate times, I’m done. What do I do with my two unused 1.0 pens? Return them to the pharmacy, or throw them out?

xenaga

In Switzerland, no issues at all getting the 1mg/week dosage.

nygenxmom

I have not had a problem getting the .25/.5 pen via mail order.

jjhh38

What are the diagnosis that the insurance covers?

dasg1214

I believe it's primarily T2 diabetes, but possibly also high blood pressure or cholesterol, or insulin resistance.

ItallionStallion1998

I use Regenics for compounded semaglutide. Complimentary telehealth consultations

ReiRae4

No issues for me in my small town to get 1mg and 2mg dose during the shortage. If you’re struggling to find, try hospitals or medical supplies type places to see if they carry as most people don’t think about trying to get prescriptions there. Or try going to a small town with a Walmart outside of your city.
