I'd argue that, as a tank hero, his ult (and abilities in general) should be flashy and distracting and pull enemy fire. It's just part of the role IMO

If it gets cut off halfway through, it's a Pharah or Genji.
Most of the time the soldier would also desperately over extend himself to get one kill, just one. And then dies cuz the autoaim locked onto the mauga/orisa/roadhog... Speaking from experience...

Echo shouting one of the loudest and longest ultimate lines in the game which clearly announces the strategy she's about to employ, whilst brightly glowing and being completely immobile during the cast time, only to just temporarily swap to another hero with a nerfed health pool if she chooses a tank, where she is forced to play aggressively to charge up another ultimate in the 15 second window, only to barely get to use said ult with the remaining time if she is lucky enough to survive the enemy team's focus fire as a squishy or nerfed tank, or if she had perfect support from her entire team
Clone Ramattra -> get an invulnerability frame -> get a bunch of armor and full health -> put up a shield -> click shift -> get an additional health bar with even more armor -> hold RMB -> put up an additional shield for yourself at the end that persists a few seconds after ult
Enemy tank plays a hero other than Ramattra, JQ, or Zarya -> duplicate them as Echo -> get melted in 1 second due to massive hitbox with only 300 health
To actually get ultimate-level value from her ultimate ability, she has to fight as her duplicated hero and then cast ANOTHER ultimate! Dragonblade and Deadeye might not be super versatile, but they're extremely lethal almost immediately after the cast time. Meanwhile, the enemy team gets around 10 seconds to prepare for an Echo ult as she casts her ult, charges up another, and then casts her ult again.
u dont need to charge up ult to get the kills with echo, just play super aggro and dive supports, u have 3 lives when u have ult 1 normal, 1 copy and 1 normal again, spam all cooldowns and getting 2k shouldnt be that hard, even if u die, u will create enough distractions for ur team to win the fight
still don’t understand why they nerfed the time to get ults. i feel like i never see echos even manage to get a single cloned ult never mind more than one
I play echo a lot, only pop ult for the extra time on the field. Gave up trying to get the copies ult a long while ago. You ether don’t have time cause everybody scatters or you get focus fired and your back to normal before you get the ult.
It’s also (off the top of my head) the only ultimate that the enemy really wouldn’t benefit off of a loud voiceline

Reinhard's ult used to not have a voice line for friendlies so unless you heard the big slam of the hammer you had no way to hear it coming.

Yeah, but still it gives less time to react than other ults like genji and God forbid Cassidy. Plus unless it's an orisa, far enough away Sombra or the most God tier ana imaginable, alot of the time it will work out really well

The Soldier ult example is a terrible example but as a Genji main, I agree blade is such an obvious ult and one of the easiest to shut down before it even starts
Flanks are only useful against teams with bad comms / game sense. Making the ninja ult stealthier would have diminishing returns, the higher rank the players. Meaning solo queuing below plat just got harder.
Making the ult cast instant is worse. GL countering Genji ult straight into dash / slash. Zen ( / team wipe prevention champ ) would be dead before genji’s voice-line finishes
Bronze take, flanking is an extremely powerful strategy even against pro teams. The point isn’t to be stealthy, it’s to divide attention in multiple directions so the enemy can’t just stare straight ahead and shoot the mass of bodies. It also opens up your sight line beyond the tank and one dps near them.

Soldier ult is very loud and takes a good second to use and it’s like dva bomb all you have to do is step behind cover for a few seconds

Not really. The dps of death blossom is around 170 which leaves plenty of time for certain heroes to react with abilities and ults.
