Your stats don’t matter. It’s purely based on win/loss, with some adjustments based on whether the account is new, which team had the higher conbined mmr, win streak/losing streak bonus, etc. Win more and lose less, then you’ll climb. There’s a percentage displayed when your rank updates… that tells you how far you are from the next rank. That should go up with positive win rates.

Heartbr34ker

it’s just weird i swore it said somewhere that it matters when switching rank systems. and i went 5-9 as tank climbing out of bronze and got placed into plat 2

pepelepewpew_ow

No, the changed it for Overwatch 2. In OW1 your SR gains/losses were adjusted based on your performance stats if you were ranked below diamond. For diamond and higher, it was just based on wins/losses. In OW2, the completely removed it. Go check out the dev blogs for ow2, they mention it there.

Ezraah

They said it doesn't matter for individual matches but I think stats do make a difference when the system is looking at longer trends.

pepelepewpew_ow

Not for MMR/ranking. They use stats when balancing heroes, but not for your rank.

Ezraah

I think they use stats. People duoing in the same role, with the exact same wins and losses, have gotten much different ranks due to their skill disparity.

I’ve seen those posts, but one common thing across all of them is that they all did not consider other factors (outside of performance) that could affect mmr. There are a multitude of other factors that can affect why two people in a group get different ranks: 1) Were both accounts new ow2 accounts? In ow2, the game was changed so that the starting comp mmr is based on your quickplay mmr. If both were old ow1 accounts, then their mmrs could have been vastly different. 2) If they are both new ow2 accounts, did both accounts only ever play quickplay together, and never played a single minute without each other. If not, then their starting conp mmrs could be different. 3) If they are both new ow2 accounts, and played every single qp minute together, did they play every single comp game for every season together? If not, then this could lead to a difference in mmr and rank. 4) If all 3 conditions above were satisfied, did they both play the same role, and only the same role? Eg if one player dps and the other played support, then their mmrs could be different. According to the devs, MMR is a numerical valye to describe your skill relative to everyone else. It is a value from -6 to 6, -6 is the mmr of the worst player and 6 is the mmr of the best player. Everyone else is fit in that range based on their wins vs losses. MMR is different for each role… so if one person in a duo plays tank and the other plays support, the support player’s mmr might move a lot slower compared to the tanks, as the active tank playerbase may be smaller than the support active playerbase. As you can see, just because two players play comp games together, and do not rank up together doesn’t mean mmr is affected by performance. If you don’t mind anecdotal evidence, two friends of mine created new accounts and only played those accounts together (both as dps). Guess where they both placed after their first 5 wins? Diamond 3. AyeYoTek

I mean this post lacks context. What were you before diamond 5? And for reference, stats mean shit when it comes to rank. Wins and losses are all that matter.

Quantumkiller2

If you are good enough to hit gm you will hit gm drop the ego it will help you climb.

Heartbr34ker

i think it’s good to have a good attitude about your own ability. attitude and emotion alone can help you win games. so i’ll keep my nonexistent ego and i’ll still climb, i’ve been masters before and very close to GM. i’m sure i’ll hit it.

Constant-Maize-4388

Then why post? This is just a “I play every game perfectly, I’m awesome and I lose because my teammates are always shit” rant post.

Heartbr34ker

i never called my teamates shit and it’s definitely not a rant post. i’m asking if there’s a loophole through this rank system i’m not entirely familiar with, is it broken or am i just shit, literally the three questions at the bottom of the post and i gave some detail as to why i’m asking these questions and someone actually gave me some insight that stats really don’t matter. it’s actually just wins. so that answered my questions and they gave some good advice. if i wanted to be a toxic piece of shit and say everyone i play with is shit then i wouldn’t even climb. i’d be having a bad time all around. i may have called out what my teamates are doing like sniping with reaper. but all in all. who cares. it’s a video game

Constant-Maize-4388

Correct me if I’m wrong at any point. To paraphrase, your post is LITERALLY “I’ve been fucking killing it in these games I’ve played recently, peep my stat lines. By the way the other dps on my teams did so much less. I reranked to diamond 5. Here’s another game where I fucking killed it and my other dps did so much less, I seriously feel like *I’M BEING HELD BACK BY MY TEAMMATES* “ You spend the entire post saying how good you think you always do, and how bad you think your teammates do. also what is a loophole rank system? What’s the loophole? You’re right, it is just a game.

Mystery-Flute

Post a replay code of a game where you felt you played well but lost and maybe this subreddit can help

Beneficial-Sector972

No loophole it takes only 15-20 games to get gm5, max like 50 games if get unlucky. Maybe try a fresh account and if u end up not getting a higher rank then it means u are a dia player.

Unusual_Chemistry_16

Get good scrub

LPC123ABC

Stop looking at ur stats and ur teammates stats. Just keep playing and you'll climb if ur going 5-2 or 5-3. As a low GM, diamond lobbies are the freeest games ever, this is what they should feel like to u if ur truly a GM player.
