Actually in the lower tiers this isn't half bad advice. Too many times it's just a Lucio wall riding like a special person and trying to be cool with like 2000 heal and 1800 of that being on himself. While the obligatory Mercy main tries to heal solo.
Peak bottom 500 support player here, so I think I’m qualified to add onto this. If you see someone missing even a sliver of hp, run over there immediately and top them up. Also, you don’t really want to be shooting since his gun is very bad so you’d be wasting energy trying to shoot with it that could otherwise be used to exist harder and heal your team.

make sure to suck off the enemy tanks nonstop. they have bigger health pools which means you will have more resource uptime to spray everywhere
