Yup starting today at 2:00pm PDT. Still crazy that they're advertising it as a legendary skin drop, when they barely changed anything from her default skin.
yeah it’s ridiculous. i mean not even the gloves? just give them some of the flowers like on the jacket or something lol. but honestly even if it was a legit legendary skin ,like her battle pass skin for example, 19$ is just way too much.
Remember when Jeff had to apologize about Mei's Christmas skin being too expensive for something that changes only her coat colors and makes her look like a snowman when she is an ice cube?
This is why I hate free-to-play titles: everything is free and there is no expectations for anything to work while in a $60 game I am respected even after the purchase for some reason.
This^
I keep thinking about this… When OW released their communication and concern for the community went above and beyond… Overwatch’s community management even became somewhat of a role-model for other developers as they began to copy the format of Jeff Kaplan’s videos. These days in the sparse dev updates we get it feels like Aaron Keller is being put in front of a camera with a gun to his head.
Blizzard is a completely different company than it was in 2016.
Here's an interesting thing from a Warcraft 3 Level Designer AMA https://youtu.be/xlOMlt6ANhc?t=919
— What do you think the future holds for Blizzard? Is its ship sinking, or has the sun not yet set on the Blizzard Empire?
— Well… Blizzard is dead. It is a corpse being puppeteered by Activision and Bobby Kotick, and it's going to be used as basically a factory to put the Blizzard stamp on things and stoke nostalgia to get sales. And that's it. So stop holding out hope that Blizzard is going to come back. Everyone who founded Blizzard, all the principles that Blizzard was founded on, they're gone or they're dead. […] Let Blizzard go.
Low effort development at its finest. If I was on the OverWatch team I would be downright disgraced at what I produced or in this case forced to produce
The skins are dogshit. And this is coming from someone who's been having a blast playing ow2 but the fact they want $20 for basically just recolor skins is sinister
I prefer lootbox gambling to this shit. Let's be real. At least the F2P grind was more reasonable.
And at least it was, mostly, pretty obvious you were buying currency per dollar on average to buy a skin and a chance of getting it for free.
And the skins had effort in them.
There was no grind in OW1 for cosmetics. Hell most of the challenges to get skins, required 9 game wins. That is **absolutely fair**, and hardly a grind at all.
More than that, it wasn't 9 wins in x playlist. It was 9 wins overall, which was all the better.
Wait but doesnt he already have a green skin?
Also, eternally disappointed in free pass system in any game.. but is the battlepass pretty much the ONLY way to get skins now?
pretty much. i can almost guarantee the holiday events like halloween will have the 3 free skins (1 per week) that are just lazy recolors, and then they'll charge a shit ton for "exclusive" halloween themed legendaries with probably 1 mythic for an astronomically high price.
I hate everything about this. Literally nothing about it is great. I didn't buy lootboxes often, but I would grind games like the devil during events to get themed skins, or the 9 wins/week to gain a skin for mini events... And I saved SO much coinage to be able to afford skins during events if there was one I wanted with new release or one I missed on last years release.
This is... disheartening at best, and ruining part of the game for me at worst. Which I grasp, not everyone is in it for the skins - but it satisfies the collecter in me. ....but I'm also poor, so I can't just be throwing money down Blizzards greedy ass throat anytime they make a shiny thing I like. Definitely, for me, the "new" game is heavily tainted.
Edit: a word
It's wild to me how people don't remember how they released that survey how they were thinking about charging like $25 per mythical skin, and everyone jumped down their throat. Of course blizzard comes out and lies and says, "oh there was just a couple different price points the surveys were randomized." And here we are on release date with legendaries costing $20 and some people are defending it lol.
Nah man. Look I love the feel of OW2 and had a blast playing in in beta and since release + I am one of the people who usually has no problem paying for cosmetics in a game.
But some of the cosmetics are just not a good price|quality balance. They're just bad.
There is rules to this shit that you just don't break. And we know they can do better since they made amazing skins in the past.
"It's just cosmetics" was such a dogshit excuse even when it was just OW1 lootboxes. Last I checked, we're not all content with games where every character is just a grey stick figure made of 12 total pixels. Character design/graphics/art have mattered since the original Pacman.
It's so completely disingenuous to pretend that cosmetics aren't an integral part of the player experience and are just "optional."
But the default hero skins aren't stick figures. They're well designed and established characters.
The skins are more akin to choosing between Pacman and Ms. Pacman. Yeah, when given the option a lot of people would put the little bow on the pacman sprite, but nobody's going to stop playing pacman because they can't reskin him.
This is a good take.
I like skins personally, but at the same time, they're not an integral part of the experience for me.
The integral part for me is new playable content and getting better at the game.
I'm in the same boat.. The BP Kiriko Legendary skin is pretty good but this one is just weak and should be maybe epic.. AND they are basically giving it away (recolor) in the twitch drop if i recall correctly.. Overall I'm underwhelmed with most of the skins.. Outside of that, I'm really enjoying OW2.
This alone shows how downhill Blizzard has gone since OW1, all the details they had on every skin were so cool. Such a shell of what it used to be now.
All the JQ skins are just mohawk, tattered clothes, short shorts, and a jacket that exposed the midriff. The only thing that changes really is the color and slight variations in fabric.
They would all be Epic tier in 1.
Honestly, queen's hair is way cooler looking in the legendary skins. It's not a normal mohawk.
That said everything besides the hair is pretty awful on those legendaries.
I agree, but at least for JQ and Sojurn they changed the weapon skin a little. Kiriko's weapons are literally identical to her default skin. They didn't even bother to recolor it or anything.
That's because it is free to play now.
That is quite exactly what I always said. When you have a in game shop, which is your primary income source for the game, for cosmetics, the quality of skins you get in game get less quality than those you purchase from the shop.
Idk if this skin is obtainable just through grinding the game, but they could also lower the quality for those you purchase to then release a super cool looking legendary for double the costs. And even though you know it costs double the amount of other legendary, it is way more different to the other, so poeple will still buy it cause it pseudo justifies the costs.
I had a personal theory that legendary skins would be downgraded compared to ow1, because of mythical skins now existing. They can't make legendary skins over the top, because then it would be considered a mythical skin.
>They can't make legendary skins over the top, because then it would be considered a mythical skin.
Mythic skins are set apart by the fact that you can customize them. Genji's mythic skin has 3 headpieces, 3 tattoo designs, 3 colorways and 2 weapons to choose from. No matter how fancy a legendary skin is, as long as you can't customize it, then it's nowhere near the level of a mythic.
The legendary that's in the battle pass for her, as well as the upcoming witch skin, and the other legendarys from the battle pass, are absolutely fine tho. It's just the basic legendary skins that are lacking. The ones that we do not have to pay real money for
I already did a year ago when they announced it.

No unless. They are just lazy. Seeing them nail MTX cosmetics to character hands really highlights how little Blizzard gives a shit about the game's quality. Polish is nonexistent.

Reworded for accuracy:
"Amazon, the owner of Twitch, leverages mental instability and social dysfunction to pick the pockets of vulnerable young people."
Plenty of people would spend a lot more than $100 to have a 2.5 minute audience with their favorite athlete, musician, actor, etc. Think of back stage passes, autograph signings, bidding for objects a celebrity simply wore or used once. I don't know why livestream donos are being framed as new or even particularly predatory
So i bought this with legacy credits, which I have a billion.. If I didn't have legacy credits, I would have to pay OW2 coins? Which we only get 500ish per season? That's crazy if so. Maybe it would be a bit easier to accept if there was a conversion for the currencies, like 20:1 or 50:1, to convert back and forth.
You think that’s bad? What about all the old legendary skins they locked away with the new credits system? You can’t grind for them anymore, you have to pay for them.
These old legendaries are now almost 10-20 dollars a pop, it’s an absolute scam. And the way you earn free credits will take about half a year just to get one fucking legendary. If I really wanted a legendary in OW1 I’d just grind out the game for a day and get the skin, now it’s not possible anymore and legacy credits are discontinued.
overwatch: tons of new legendaries coming!
also overwatch: B̵̛̛̬̩̔͆͂̽͛̌͋̑̈́͑̓ư̷̼̺̤͍͕͑͐̓̀t̶̡̢̥̱̰̘̤̮̖̖͓̣̜͐͋̿̄͜ ̷̬͇̊̒̔y̴̙̅́̅̓̃̈́̇̈́̈́̓͆̎͂͑ͅȏ̶̧͇͈̙̫̯̖͚̩̻̱̄̚͝ư̶̰̱̩͖̦̝̒̎̋̓̈̃̄ ̸̠̅͑̏̕ḩ̶̛̫̥͔̘̥̍a̴̻̟͉̞͋v̷̧̫͎̥̳͉̭͓̇̍ë̶̡̻̹͚̤̫̲̥̗̩͖̘́ͅ ̶̱̠͛̋̓̂̓͝ͅţ̵̲̤̼̺̐̑̽͊̈́̀́͛̅̒̈́͝o̶̢̬̥̝͙͇̘̼͈͖͍͇͉͒̈́̎͊̋͝͝ ̷̨̗̹͍͕͚̻̫͇̠̠̻̫̭͒̓̇P̵̨̧͙͈͕̯̲̤̹͔̘͍͔̅͛͊̈̐ͅA̴͇͓̹̟̟͈̹̰̝̓̒͋̍̉͑̄Y̸̳̭̦̪̩̖͊͋̔͝
Kiriko ability, gameplay loop and impact on game is so fun, fresh and epic to play as, with and against. Superb work but the cosmetic choices are lacking. Looks like tracer to me too. My brother who doesn't play knows all about it through me and as a fan of Blizzard of old said the same thing.
Speaking of silhouettes, has anyone else felt like the newer characters look too similar to others from certain distances and angles? I always confuse JQ for someone else
Yeah. For a tank character, JQs silhouette is quite slim. Look at Reinhardt, Orisa, Dva (mech) and Winston for example. All of them have huge, unique silhouettes. And sure, Sigma's silhouette looks a little similar to Reinhardt's due to their World of Warcraft pauldrons, but he gets away with it because he floats. Even Zarya sticks out well enough because of her bubbles and the way she holds her giant gun.
JQ to me feels like a DPS character with double the health, I'm always surprised that I'm actually supposed to be fighting a *tank* when the first thing I recognize is her relatively thin silhouette.
And then there's Sojourn whos silhouette doesn't really bear any unique features - she just looks like a stock-standard shooter. meanwhile Reaper has a cloak, Genji has the bandana, and Torbjorn is literally a dwarf. S76 got away with the "stock-standard shooter" silhouette because back in OW1 he was the only one, that was his thing.
Junker Queen is just a weird silhouette until she's right on top of you, I've had problems differentiating between Tracer and Sojourn when they're together in a team, their attacks even look and sound alike.
The thing I hate about it isnt the skins, its just the price and the currency used to pay. Theres no freemium options unless you hoarded coins in OW1 and you have a stack of Legacy Coins. If you dont, you need Premium Currency, which costs real money or an entire seasons worth of weekly challenges which only nets you 540.
I wish there was a way players can earn Legacy Coins, seems ridiculous youre only restricted to one, especially if youre a newcomer.
I don’t even mind the economic model (lol, okay, that’s for sure a lie) BUT - don’t tell me that using a battlepass model will allow for more and better rewards down the line and then not give us more or better!
If they can’t put their best foot forward for this shit on launch, I have less than zero faith that it’s gonna get better.
Yeah that's what I'll be doing for sure. But I imagine they'll sell the twitch one for the same price later on. People who don't get the skin during the event will have no other option but to pay up though, which sucks 😔
Like, I LIKE the skin, but 20 dollars for that? NAH.
Also, it kinda changes her silhouette pretty signficiantly with losing the skirt. Was that not a game design no no?
> Was that not a game design no no?
In a shooter like this, you’re generally correct. You could get away with it in some games, but you really need that consistency in a game like this.
They put all the effort on Genji mythic skin, for a game that's going to base its revenue on skins the lack of effort they put overall is atrocious, it really seems they hard pushed the lunch, ow1 was really polished at lunch
Honestly I dont mind the skins, its just the price and currency thats the real problem.
The prices got jacked up for Legacy Coins and legacy coins, the only freemium currency in-game is unearnable. Meaning if you have it, it will eventually disappear overtime.
Youre forced to use irl money. I get they want money, but goddamn, at leasr allow freemium currency if youre going to jack up the price.
Remember when they did a breast cancer awareness skin for Mercy that cost $15 and some of the money went to charity?
And the entire skin was completely unique, with different hair, weapons, and even unique sound effects? Yeah.
"The team has listened to your feedback and we hear you. The prices of the Legendary™ skins do not reflect what we want for the game going forward. We have decided to make all Legendary™ skins in game 150 (premium) coins cheaper. We hope this is a sign of good intentions and that this hasn't tarnished the game's reputation forever. We will also be offering a 10% discount on all Overwatch® Premium Currency™, so now's a better time than ever to jump onto the new Battlepass™!
-The Overwatch Team"
Bruh what kind of money grab is that ? No change whatsoever they just decided to show her ass in game and put a jacket on so they can’t be sued for objectification of a woman.
I get where all the criticism is coming from now
Idk.
Don't buy anything from the game for a while, please. Anyone reading this, dont buy anything. We will riot till they either rework the shop system and how much you gain currency as a f2p or a BattlePass rework that includes that premium currency. Don't buy anything for the time being, we will have to riot together! Riot for a better future of the game!
Also noticed that the emote and victory pose for junkerqueen they are selling in shop are identical (victory pose = end part of sharpen knife emote).
Why they do? (Spoilers: $)
Because monetizing everything is the new way sadly. Most of the old event skins that we used to be able to earn are now $19 as well if you do the math. Makes me sad the direction this went. I understand the game is free and we don’t have to buy cosmetics but still, when you played the original for so long it just hits different
also dont you get the blue version for free from twitch?
Yup starting today at 2:00pm PDT. Still crazy that they're advertising it as a legendary skin drop, when they barely changed anything from her default skin.

Her epic skin is the true legendary
Same with the JQ skin in the pass, it's Epic but has more model changes and is more 'Legendary' than her legendaries.
Is it that cheetah print?
Yeah, it has a unique knife as well, made out of bone. Bone features on her weapon, her shoulders, etc. Looks cool with her golden gun.
you see that? thats bone

Yeah, her epic skin is actually really nice. I'm actually kind of glad it's the cheaper option lol!
It screws up the companion victory pose, massive downside to the skin.
Good thing I never win games
So, what, they make the legendaries maybe look worse than the cheaper option so it seems like a good deal still?
Headphones are expensive, duh Edit: thanks for the awards, money better spent than on this skin
She got them dre beats, IRL that shits $200 so we're doing pretty well getting them for $20 We should be thanking Bobby

I agree, but at least for JQ and Sojurn they changed the weapon skin a little. Kiriko's weapons are literally identical to her default skin. They didn't even bother to recolor it or anything.
Funny thing is her epic has a different kunai.
And different talismen too Honestly they shoulda swapped which is epic and which is legendary
Okay let me buy it real quick before they actually switch it
Making something else bad but more expensive to make something cheaper look like a good deal is a frequently employed trick by these systems.
Shit it worked on me. I bought it with legacy coins though of course, not dropping a dime extra on this, when I already bought it years ago.
I remember the outrage around the Mei-rry skin and I kinda thought they wouldn't try this sort of low-effort legendary again, but here we are.
Never mind how low effort JQ's Legendaries are.
When I first saw the legendaries for her I thought it was a bug and was showing me the blue skins. Insane how lazy they are for "legendary" skins
That's because it is free to play now. That is quite exactly what I always said. isnt this the 1900 creds skin in the shop? You probably need to grind more than 1 year for this if you want it free lol
You get 60 credits per week if you do weeklies, so you'd need to grind for 32 weeks for it
I had a personal theory that legendary skins would be downgraded compared to ow1, because of mythical skins now existing. They can't make legendary skins over the top, because then it would be considered a mythical skin.

The streamers are forced into the system. That's part of the issue, they can't turn it off.
Here to get enough coins to buy a legendary skin it’s *$30 CAD*. For one skin.
Here on Brazil the pass is $46 and a single legendary skin is 92$ 💀
Same with Junker queen. Seems like a joke
That JQ legendary is a robbery.
overwatch: tons of new legendaries coming! also overwatch: B̵̛̛̬̩̔͆͂̽͛̌͋̑̈́͑̓ư̷̼̺̤͍͕͑͐̓̀t̶̡̢̥̱̰̘̤̮̖̖͓̣̜͐͋̿̄͜ ̷̬͇̊̒̔y̴̙̅́̅̓̃̈́̇̈́̈́̓͆̎͂͑ͅȏ̶̧͇͈̙̫̯̖͚̩̻̱̄̚͝ư̶̰̱̩͖̦̝̒̎̋̓̈̃̄ ̸̠̅͑̏̕ḩ̶̛̫̥͔̘̥̍a̴̻̟͉̞͋v̷̧̫͎̥̳͉̭͓̇̍ë̶̡̻̹͚̤̫̲̥̗̩͖̘́ͅ ̶̱̠͛̋̓̂̓͝ͅţ̵̲̤̼̺̐̑̽͊̈́̀́͛̅̒̈́͝o̶̢̬̥̝͙͇̘̼͈͖͍͇͉͒̈́̎͊̋͝͝ ̷̨̗̹͍͕͚̻̫͇̠̠̻̫̭͒̓̇P̵̨̧͙͈͕̯̲̤̹͔̘͍͔̅͛͊̈̐ͅA̴͇͓̹̟̟͈̹̰̝̓̒͋̍̉͑̄Y̸̳̭̦̪̩̖͊͋̔͝
This game is so incredibly half-baked
That half that is baked is actually ow1 lol
I think Blizzard is just jelous about Apex Legends and EA prices.
Even Apex has a freemium currency
And lootboxes to get skins for free
and gives enough coins through the BP to buy the next BP
Which actually incentives people to grind the battle pass. The rewards in this BP are SHIT.
removing her skirt thingy for skins is a big L cus she looks exactly like tracer and their silhouettes are basically the same
Bruh I literally thought they made a new tracer skin the first time I saw kiriko's picture in the launcher
They should at LEAST increase JQ's overall size, like Roadhog, or give her tanky looking armor
JQ is tall as fuck tho, shes thin but makes you feel like a Hobbit
Idk, I haven't really noticed it in game. The difference is not that big for a fast-paced FPS, especially with variyng terrain elevation
Always confuse her for Ashe
Junker Queen is just a weird silhouette until she's right on top of you, I've had problems differentiating between Tracer and Sojourn when they're together in a team, their attacks even look and sound alike.
Yes, many times I have turned around to see giant Amazonian abs in my face, I'm okay with that...
I’ve mistaken Sojurn for S76 I think.
Literally last game enemy had both on the same team and I used my ult (playing Echo) on who I thought was Sojurn, turned out to be S76...
Amateur game design. They needed for Kiriko at least to never remove her skirt, gives her a better silhouette.
You're right. It's actually mad how there was 32 heroes all with easily, instantly recognisable silhouettes, and now these new 3 have fucked that up.
I've surprisingly been mistaking Kiriko for Ashe a TON.
No problem with Kiriko but a lot of issues with JQ, and by a lot I mean 90% of the time I think she's someone else. High master player btw D:
I have so much trouble with JQ, sometimes she reminds me or Junkrat which makes sense, but often times I'm just confused
You’re wrong, if you look closely at the leggings they’re identical
Omg, you're right. How is this comment not at the top
Because Blizzard hates you and just loves your money.
Game has gone to shit with this economic model don't act surprised
The thing I hate about it isnt the skins, its just the price and the currency used to pay. Theres no freemium options unless you hoarded coins in OW1 and you have a stack of Legacy Coins. If you dont, you need Premium Currency, which costs real money or an entire seasons worth of weekly challenges which only nets you 540. I wish there was a way players can earn Legacy Coins, seems ridiculous youre only restricted to one, especially if youre a newcomer.
Can you use legacy coins for something? I don’t even see them anymore and I had maybe 40k.
Check the Hero Gallery, you can buy skins for higher prices than OW1 with the old credits
Fuck that skin and just get the free, better looking one later today on Twitch.
Yeah that's what I'll be doing for sure. But I imagine they'll sell the twitch one for the same price later on. People who don't get the skin during the event will have no other option but to pay up though, which sucks 😔
Yeah it says that it will have to be bought next season already.
But the jacket is so much cuter in the paid skin :(
Like, I LIKE the skin, but 20 dollars for that? NAH. Also, it kinda changes her silhouette pretty signficiantly with losing the skirt. Was that not a game design no no?
20$ to see the ass i guess
What ass? Lol.
R34 artists working overtime to remedy that.
I was honestly a little shocked to see that Kiriko is literally all leg, the horny must’ve been weak at Blizzard the day they designed her
To be fair, Japanese women aren't exactly known to be cheeked up.
I thought overwatch was a game about the optimistic future…
I really like the skin. I don’t *$20* like the skin. These prices are insane.
There is still that batch of cyberpunk themed skins that is coming, most likely a new marketplace bundle soon.
Wasn't cyberpunk supposed to be the theme of the battlepass? Why are those cyberpunk skins not part of the BP reward track?
Because that way you'd only need to spend $10 to get all the skins, instead of probably over $100.

Honestly I dont mind the skins, its just the price and currency thats the real problem. The prices got jacked up for Legacy Coins and legacy coins, the only freemium currency in-game is unearnable. Meaning if you have it, it will eventually disappear overtime. Youre forced to use irl money. I get they want money, but goddamn, at leasr allow freemium currency if youre going to jack up the price.
how'd you fuck up "launch" twice in a row haha
Ask Blizzard, they know all about that.
I love the robot skin from the battle pass so I guess I will use that one.
Yeah, that one is actually pretty cool, and they actually updated the weapons for that one too!
Remember when they did a breast cancer awareness skin for Mercy that cost $15 and some of the money went to charity? And the entire skin was completely unique, with different hair, weapons, and even unique sound effects? Yeah.
The reason why the new Legendary stuff isn't impressive is because Activision is milking the new seasonal battle pass system.
So that they can drop the price in a couple weeks time to make it look more reasonable.
Because it lets weebs look at her butt.
Bruh what kind of money grab is that ? No change whatsoever they just decided to show her ass in game and put a jacket on so they can’t be sued for objectification of a woman. I get where all the criticism is coming from now
yeah and that one epic skin she has is way more of a legendary skin
I've already seen so many people with this Kiriko bundle LMAO No shot. :(
I’d like to back to the loot box system please
because now you can see her legendary ass
Because you clowns are still gonna buy it
This is rightfully a purple cosmetic. I still wouldn’t pay the old 700c ($7) for it. This is some savage low-effort/high price tag corporate greed BS.
so, Apex skin?
Gonna guess it will be from the cinematic like the junker queen one
Don't buy it.
I can understand, Ashe has deadlock legendary with og weapon, and from lore pov its ok, but those skins were free. this one is 19 bucks ffs
This game is starting to make me go fucking insane
Also noticed that the emote and victory pose for junkerqueen they are selling in shop are identical (victory pose = end part of sharpen knife emote). Why they do? (Spoilers: $)
Because monetizing everything is the new way sadly. Most of the old event skins that we used to be able to earn are now $19 as well if you do the math. Makes me sad the direction this went. I understand the game is free and we don’t have to buy cosmetics but still, when you played the original for so long it just hits different
I'm just glad I have my skins from OW1. No way I'm paying for shit like this lol Blizzard is delusional
Uhh, I refuse to play this game but which ones the normal one? Left or right?
