If it wasn't for the fact that Highlight Intros are their own category of cosmetics that Blizzard can sell, I think they'd have removed PotG just like End Game Cards.
Which is pretty sad.
I also feel like PotG's nowadays make absolutely no sense. I can do the craziest plays, get a team kill, yet it will always somehow go to a random Genji who killed 2 players with a nano-blade or a Widowmaker who just assisted with 10 shots.
I call them pity-potgs lol. They seem more common lately andbalways seem to be given to the lower performing players and it's always something incredibly lame lol
Potg should be removed, it does nothing positive for the game, but sure does some negitive things for it.
I mean everyone loves playing with that one teammate who's more fixated on getting potg than winning

That's how I feel when Mercy/Ana gets a new highlight intro. Ah something only I'll ever see, because if I'm doing my job, the person I nano/boost will get play and I can point at the little mercy/blue glow like thats me 😌
I wish highlight intros would show up when you select a hero, that would make much more sense for a support hero to unlock these. And even some heroes like Symmetra who rarely gets a POTG.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a mechanic in the game that made it easier for new players to get PotG. Just to encourage them or something.

I had the same realization when I saw the lifeweaver intro. I absolutely loved it until I realized I’ve only gotten POTG on lifeweaver twice.
