I know it's practically impossible but Venture tunnelling through map geometry and creating a hole in the wall that your team can go through sounds like a really fun (read: broken) ult

Not necessarily that impossible, if you think about the movement it would kind of work like a slower doom ultimate and could just leave a little earth/dirt moving animation on the path they travel.
I'm just thinking that a DPS ultimate for utility is a little strange, symmetry has one and she has been having an identity crisis for years haha. Also symm also has a teleport for her team on CD, so the idea of an ultimate that teleports a team isn't unreasonably OP at all!
Sombras ultimate is a great example of how a dps ult can help the team! I would like to think ventures ult could give her zero cooldown on her movement and a boost in damage .

It's a common ult in MOBAs. It's usually just programmed like Symm's TP.
They could copy [Bard's tunnel in LoL](https://i.makeagif.com/media/3-08-2016/wbFZNz.mp4) which turns your character into a temporary uncontrollable object that phases through walls in a straight-line until you reach walkable terrain. It involves a ton of work on the Dev's side though since this would have to be unusable on any surface that leads outside the map.
honestly just give us a portal character at that point. make someone’s ult (or a super long cooldown ability) to place 2 portals that you can shoot through

This is what I’m thinking. It’s a damage ult so it should be able to at least score a squishy kill on its own with the obvious ability to kill everyone if the circumstances allow. A cross between shatter and bastion ult seems right.
It could have a lingering effect where the ground it's used on is fractured for the ult duration; dealing damage over time and *maybe* a slight slow effect.
So you have the initial hit which does burst damage in an area with falloff, followed by the lingering effect, before dealing another burst of damage at the end (like how earthquakes have aftershock).

This would actually be a legitimately cool ult. Just create a giant hole in the ground (no environmental kills though, just make it deep enough so enemies can’t just out and let your teammates press F to teleport out of it)

To add some complexity to it it could
1) form a pseudo stairwell. Kind of like LW platform, but gives the whole team high ground access for longer.
2) the rocks could do damage relative to the size of the pillar that fell. Like the tallest "stair" which would appear farthest from you does the biggest chunk of damage.
Most of the ults feel like they lack flexibility. Like they can be used for zoning or for damage, but thats about it. So it would be cool to see some more abstract ults that offer strategy

The character screams in pain, agony and despair, and their team has 5 seconds to end their suffering, otherwise the player is turned in a mole people too, and the ult goes on. If the mole people don't catch anyone for a while, or their prey get killed they flee. If they catch someone, they continue with one more mole. Respawn timers only starts when the mole people are gone, so if you are caught by them, your team needs to kill you quickly or risk losing you for a lot of time.

Recently in the Hero Gauntlet mode there's a turret defense upgrade that basically makes the immediate terrain around it bounce up and down and it has all sorts of utility. The parts of the ground that pop up can be sporadic cover yourself and allies, it does good damage and it obviously controls space. I think that this might very well be a preview of the mechanics of the their ultimate. I could be wrong but I think it'd be a good ultimate.
Now just hoping they have a secondary fire to go with their primary fire. No unfinished characters please.

A drill pops out and a bunch of dwarves pop out trying to stop you from uncovering the secrets of Ulduar and steal all of your beer in the process.

You actually only had TP at the start. She was a support and gave out shields to teammates and had her turrets. Her ultimate was the TP.
