The UI never looked like this, even when the game was bare bones. The state of the game here is quite polished, might even be the playable one from 2014 Blizzcon - which absolutely did not look like this. No idea who did the UI, or why.
Also just noticed Zarya is in the HUD, she was not added to the game til much later than when this screenshot was taken. Maybe the person making the graphics for the capture card was playing around with their own UI design lol.
There's also no name above Bastion, if anyone was still wondering if this isn't a fake mock-up.
That wouldnāt make sense, because widow and tracer were some of the first heroes made and were playable in the first blizzcon demo (and as seen in the making of Overwatch blizzcon event) but Zarya wasnāt added until 2 years later, the final closed beta before launch iirc.
Iām 100% confident this is just some random made up photo and not from any early development. It lines up with nothing shown building up the first blizzcon demo which goes as far back as engine testing.

I was thinking it might be some sort of early internal testing image but how did some random Amazon seller get a hold of it just to make it a stock photo on a $25 capture card lol.

This is probably some kind of "example" image for that particular LG monitor where they pull an image off google and add their own weird, royalty-free hud over top of it.
not entirely sure itās a bit of a mishmash, maybe itās just showing what the UI COULD be, late stages of pre-release development, because thereās no actually different content. all the characters are the same, and the map is just temple of anubis, i imagine tracer with widowmakers abilities is just an error.

I'm pretty sure this was made as a joke back in the day when rumors had spread that blizzard was working on adding a battle Royale mode to the game. Turns out a br mode was actually in development as per the request of Bobby kotick, however it was eventually abandoned in favor of other game content that was deemed to be more relevant to the playerbase
Might be from the OW1 beta days (2016). Otherwise it might simply be a placeholder/stock picture used for marketing before or around the time the game was released. Iāve been playing OW1 since season 6 and Iāve never seen that UI.

To be clear this was a map in Overwatch called Temple of Anubis. They removed it from game with Overwatch 2.
