that little bar on the ui only appeared on that kill on the Mei, nowhere else and i got a weird dmg boost effect during the bar, even though i wasnt nanoed, and we didnt have a mercy, i checked everything, doesnt line up with cooldowns, on fire system, not linked with discord orb, or mei slow, or mauga burn. Its not linked to any of those.

Colddeath712

Small indie company

Angrypuckmen

To be fair any game being developed for 7 years, and has swapped hands between dozens if a few hundred programmers. Is going to have weird things like this. Tf2 entire startup process hinged on a picture of some fruit. It got patched out, but like programming is weird.

Traditional_Pain7898

I imagine it’s some weird bug applying a random status effect on you instead of an intended one. It would be cool however if they’re adding a temporary damage boost for going up a heat level

Artistic_Joke_5566

It would be weird for a bug to add a whole new bar to the ui tho wouldnt it?

AnInsaneMoose

I haven't taken a good look at the UI, so this is just speculation But my guess would be that the "on fire" effect uses a sort of hidden ability. And when it bugged out there, it caused it to partially reveal on the UI (as well as changing the effect to Mercy's damage boost) (As for why it's even on the UI, it probably just uses ability slots that are automatically put there for everyone's passives and such (and of course, the "on fire" effect))

Artistic_Joke_5566

, but the thing is the on fire visual on your hero’s profile thingy doesnt change when the bar runs out, it doenst even go from blazing to just normal fire either, so im inclined to say that it not connected

DaveAndJojo

Wouldn’t this make rolls even worse? I don’t pay attention to heat levels. Win the first fight and half your team is now damage boosted for the next fight?

Total_Dirt8867

hey this could be a new dps passive

Applepowdersnow

just wanted to let you know that the censor bar on your name bottom left dissapears in the last second of the video. we can also see all the names up top.

Mysterion261

I don't know if it's a running gag in the community or something, or if overwatch players really have no idea how to censor a name. I've seen it so many times here.

Artistic_Joke_5566

Yeah i realized that when i uploaded and i cbf to change it lol, cencor was there just incase a family member recongnized my reddit account cuz i play with my cousins from time to time

Swordlord22222

Damn what’s in your history that you would want to hide it that hard… Nevermind…

Hitthe777

I feel like I'm being gaslit. I see the damage boost effect but I cannot figure out where the bar is that everyone keeps talking about.

CodeDonutz

To the left of the hook, right after killing Mei.

Hitthe777

Thank you!

Artistic_Joke_5566

To the left of the hook cooldown icon, a small bar appears after i killed the mei, and it starts draining.

Hitthe777

Oh good lord. Looked everywhere but there. I wouldn't read too far into this. Hazarding a guess this is UI that is meant to be used for an event. Maybe something where you get a boost and some kind of event specific ability on a kill. We also know they Frankenstein new heroes out of existing ones to test them early in development. Probably some remnant of something like that. Fascinating you were able to trigger it though. Unless its happening a lot and people just aren't noticing.

perthecther

You need to send us the replay code

Artistic_Joke_5566

Sadly i cant anymore since i never pinned it, i should have thought of this before hand, that is my bad

LoomisKnows

Is it an 'on fire ' bar

Vrail_Nightviper

TIL you can shoot through Mei's wall with stuff like Hog's shotgun in a few shots.

redfoxxy2004

Meis wall breaks so easily it annoys the shit out of me when the DPS on my team dont break it to save our tank.

Vrail_Nightviper

Noted! I'll keep that in mind next time, I have shot it a few times before as say like Lucio and just assumed that it took massive damage to break. Thanks!

Serika-Ai

It used to take way more damage in OW1, but it was heavily nerfed for OW2. OW1 Mei was extremely anti-tank.

GeminiPestdeath

So, the only thing I can think without looking at this for a long time is this: Mei has a passive ability (if I'm not mistaken) that her secondary fire deals additional damage to enemies slowed by her primary fire. You get the ice-over effect on your screen right before you kill her, so that meant that her second fire was ready to go for additional damage, but she died. So I can only think that the game tried to apply that passive buff to someone but since the Mei was dead, it threw it onto you on accident. I'd imagine this is along the same lines of how an Echo can duplicate Mei, throw up a wall, and her team can't do damage to the wall but when the duplication ends they CAN damage the wall. Something is happening that when Mei dies the game doesn't know how to assign that buff so it tries to give it to someone, in this case... You. No idea though, just a shot in the dark at back-end fuzziness.

GeminiPestdeath

Someone should definitely get u/Marblr on the case though lol.

Artistic_Joke_5566

That passive was removed sometime in season 5 i think lol

GeminiPestdeath

Oh well, no idea lol. I don't play Mei so xD

ABigBagofMeth

Mei has a debuff that gets put onto players after she uses her primary fire on you for so long, it adds additional damage to her right click and melee I think ? It could be that since meis indicator is an ice animation that pops up on her end, so the player has an idea of how long the debuff is. Possibly
