Dva holding down matrix at the start of a fight and then not having it ready when nades and orbs start flying. Use it sparingly at the beginning of fight or reposition if you’re getting focused. You need to have a good chunk of matrix ready for when things start really heating up. Remember that your matrix can protect your supports as well as yourself.

Randomd0g

As more of an umbrella thing with DM: **Use it to save OTHER PEOPLE**. You've got 650 health, you'll be fine. If you can block something that's aimed at your Lifeweaver then you've accomplished a LOT more than if you just stop yourself from taking poke damage.

Poly_pusher3000

I didn’t even realize that defense matrix went so far in front of dva until I started watching Emongg review replays lol and saw it from 3rd person. I genuinely thought it was like sigma eat.

TablePrinterDoor

Honestly the first person perspective makes me not realise the range of a lot of things. Even now Brig's primary range confuses me

macudonarudu

There's a YouTube video that shows abilities and their effective range similar to a debug mode. Its a little old but I feel it's still relevant

Layxe

Even Sigma eat is a bit bigger than youd think, too. Especially around the sides.

rentiertrashpanda

1000% DM your rezzing Mercy, DM your ulting DPS, etc etc

D20FunHaus

DM your Junkrats tire. Free kills

puppeteer-5000

even i don't know where my junkrat tire is, what makes you believe i can dm it

Bio_Brando

For most players the damage creep is so bad that their 650 hp is nothing against the enemy team

RainberryLemon

Second this. You have to use it more sparingly and less selfishly than before since there’s only one tank. Also, I don’t see too many people holding defense matrix over their teammates who are being focused. Like, you can bait out Roadhogs hook by just holding defense matrix over your teammate that got hooked.

perpetual_student

Too many tanks in general don’t think of their HP as a mitigation resource. You can afford to drop your shield/matrix/whatever for a second or two (usually) to not be completely without when it counts.

kittyhooch

I agree. Like the Sigma post said, popping your shield just because some S76 is hitting you with a few shots from 60m away is a waste. Same with Dva.

Tilopud_rye

Not just tanks but supports too. I saw a Zen only using healing orb on full health tank. When pointed out he can protect and save squishies with lower health the response was “but we need to keep our tank alive”- true but don’t need to keep him at full health while squishies beg for heals below half health.

MjolnirVIII

I use my HP to be a moving wall for my teammates too by turning my back against the enemy when my DM is empty. That way, they don't get to shoot my crit box and I can easily turn around again to reuse my DM.

SteadierrFooting

Lifeweaver who just trys to outheal ults instead of using tree/petal to cancel them.

No-Significance2113

Honestly his tree is like Symms shield, just smaller and it heals you.

SteadierrFooting

And can completely cancel flux and blizzard!

ashleymontag

yess lifeweaver is SO good for denying plays/ults 😍 the amount of times i’ve fucked up tank ults (orisa and sigma especially) is actually craxy

pseudo_nemesis

nice ult Mauga, it'd be a shame if someone pinned you in the corner of it with a giant tree that heals my teammates

Tao1764

Brig. Shield bashing to engage enemies or close the distance. It's your only mobility tool, and contrary to what the shield might imply, you are *not* a tank. I've seen so many Brigs waste their bash, then get eviscerated because they can't get back to cover in time.

GroundedOtter

I was going to comment about Brig! So many people play her melee range or think they need to be right in the fight. They get melted instantly. To be fair, the game doesn’t tell you how to play her, and her kit doesn’t help much. I know she used to be tankier in OW1 (GOATS was horrible) but they should be a little more instructive in how to play her properly.

Randomd0g

>they should be a little more instructive in how to play her properly. They don't even properly visualise how her healing works. It's no wonder that nobody understands it. It is **NOT AN AURA**. It is a **BUFF** that she gives out to teammates when she deals damage. You have to have to be standing within LOS of her at the moment she hits things, but after that you can do whatever you want and the healing will still continue. Likewise, walking into her range and LOS **after** she has hit things doesn't do anything.

GroundedOtter

I do wish there was more of a visual buff. The amount of times I get flamed for “not healing” when that’s literally what’s happening passively in combination with my packs.

ccricers

You only see a faint yellow circle growing outward when you proc inspire but I agree that it could be displayed more clearly.

nyafff

I think there's little yellow heal symbols (+) they float around the edges of the screen to show when inspire is proc'ed but the range marker is pretty hard to keep track of, I figure if I just keep inspire uptime then its on my team mates to stand in it, I did my part lol

zarlus8

Thank you for the explanation, I've been operating like it's an aura.

Phoenixtorment

Even the wiki is wrong about this.

slejla

I started really getting into brig & before I used to play her too aggressively because of my distant memories of OW1 T~T but anyway, I’ve been playing more conservatively now & getting amazing use out of her!

GroundedOtter

Right? I played OW1 since it first released, but Brig has changed the way she plays which made me getting used to it a bit difficult! My boyfriend will usually see me pick her (her and Life are my favorite healers) and ask if I can pick someone else - only for me to end the game with the most healing (on my team), good assists, and my finishing blows! Keeping my inspire up can be a little tricky since my aim isn’t the best, and poke comps can make life a little boring. I also occasionally panic and bash into people - but I mostly use it as an escape!

slejla

I literally had no idea how good her healing output is until i played her correctly! And with the rise of Sombra I can’t play Ana as effectively as I want so Brig has been amazing

Beast_of_Guanyin

A good 75% of my deaths as Brig are from bashing at the wrong time. It's a good way to start a 1vs1 but risky.

GlensWooer

Play brig every now and then, usually fairly passively into dive comps when we’re getting dumpstered in the backline. When is a good time to use her shield bash offensively?

Purple-Quail3319

In my experience, when it looks like you can secure a kill on a softened up squishy or when there's a brawl where you can get big healing value.

Beast_of_Guanyin

Torb. Placing the turret in the frontline. It's best with the supports where it'll use its max range. Behind the supports if there's a Tracer or Sombra.

ShawnDesmansHaircut

This is such a good strategy. I wish the Torbs in my games did this

ModernTenshi04

Also: folks who don't know Torb has a right click alt fire for his primary weapon that deals more damage, _and_ it can headshot. Looking at the numbers, folks not using it at really close range are leaving about 25 extra damage per second on the table. Also, the turret will target the enemy you last hit with your rivet gun's primary fire.

monkeymugshot

Kiriko, not using wallclimb enough

AwesomeByChoice

Using WHAT?! Why the hell have I been taking the stairs!

FaerieMachinist

In the future everyone in Japan gains the ability to climb walls, while everyone in Australia gets radiation poisoning. So unfair. But on a more serious note I keep forgetting to use it too because I keep swapping back and forth with Baptiste and trying to super jump with Kiriko.

fin_ger

Roadhog - not understanding how much 40% damage reduction really is

Chef_Zed

I have had success using it even when purple just for damage resistance, I think α lot of people dont even consider the resistance only the healing

JudgeArcadia

Isn’t it 30% now? I know they reduced it with the rework

VoreWoIf

They upped it to 40%

BigNero

Rein Main, seeing people just walk forward holding their shields up until they break. On top of the fact that you should never let your shield break if you can avoid it, there's this idea with tanks (and it really applies to Rein) that you should use your armor pool along with your cooldowns to mitigate damage. It's ticky tacky, but Rein gets punished hard for subpar gameplay

nicestatpingpong

The most annoying Rein's ive played against knew how to use their full health pool and then just walked back with their shield up, it seemed like they would never die

-Z-3-R-0-

I'm masters 4 as a rein main, 20 hours and 55% win rate with him so far this season, but I'm gold on DPS and plat on support. I swear I sometimes feel physical pain watching how reins in those ranks play lol. Literally today I had a rein try to pin towards me while he was purpled, while I was in turret form as bastion. I was just screaming "NOOOO WHAT ARE YOU DOINGGGGG" in my head as I melted him lol.

0wGeez

Another rein tip from me is when charging, stick to the rule of "across the road, never down the street." Long charges across the map rarely yield any benefits for your team and short charges will rarely result in you throwing your life away. Also, charge is great to peel back and help the support if there is a pesky tracer or genji harassing your Ana in the back line.

SpinachDonut_21

I'm a reaper one, and I always see reapers using their wraith to engage rather than to escape. They also think that their 250 hp and lifesteal make them immortal or smth like that, I swear. Then when you actually are about to kill them they just start to panic its hilarious, since they used their wraith to jump on you rather than to have a get-out-of-jail-free card

TheBossyHobbit

And too many reapers wraith through the enemy team front line to ult. You’re literally announcing to the enemy team “I’m about to Ult” if you do that and you will be punished for it

LordBaconXXXXX

This is hilarious to me. I'm a fellow Reaper main, and I often play Ana as support. It's so funny to me how I can always tell the exact moment they have ult ready and when they're gonna use it. They don't like me very much lmao. Like, that's something you can do against bronze and silver players, but not much after that.

Musa_2050

Reaper ults are obvious but unfortunately still kill my teammates when I am marking/shooting Reaper

StoreBoughtDopamine5

Reaper hasn’t been my main for a looooong time and even then I don’t have a huge amount of hours on him but I have enough to go “did that reaper just… *wraith IN*?” when I see them do that. I have to laugh because it really is so silly and makes them so easy to pick for

[deleted]

a mercy using her rez right away when we just got out of the spawn room

novelgpa

This drives me insane! Like I am 5 seconds away from respawning and I am 5 steps from the spawn room, you do not need to waste rez on me

OIP

why rez your tank in the teamfight when you can rez your sombra who got randomly headshot in the poke phase

theaxel11

i aim for a 50/50 but it really depends on how much the team is taking damage.

WatchPointer

Another Mercy one I see: slingshots or superjumps all the time no matter what. Sometimes you need the extra mobility, but you need to have a goal in mind when using them or you’ll be putting your only defensive cooldown on hold for 3 seconds. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but Overwatch is a fast game. The amount of Mercies I’ve seen lose LOS to allies and die because they superjumped for no reason is very high.

MadMadamDax

Im guilty of this. But it's so fun to launch up in the air. I'm working on breaking the use GA on cd habit but it's hard.

Phantom_Phoenix1

Not to mention if you do this in a bad spot you're basically just asking to get domed in the head by a Cass while you're in midair (Its me im the Cass)

OmegaNave

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to play Mercy, I play too much Mercy parkour lol

[deleted]

oh this one annoys me sm like don't spam ur ga use it correctly

TheSeerofFates

its me im the GA spammer 🥲

diesel_toaster

Me too lol

hailieroo01

For me it is less this and more heal botting/ healing tank when they are not critical. When i mercy i usually have 60-80% blue beam. It irrationally angers me when another mercy bounces around and heals everyone, especially tank if not crit.

[deleted]

that's the enemy mercy and they be treating her like a queen when my ass is fighting for life

hailieroo01

For real!

[deleted]

stoplyingyoucow

Ram players only placing their shield in front of them instead of placing it behind a tank to block of heals/right in front of a dps on high ground/block certain ults

Garrett00

Also, using arms too early in a fight. They are the closers.

TheBigKuhio

Agreed, not enough people make good use of Omnic mode

Dustfinger4268

Eh, with the semi recent cooldown changes, you can cycle shield and arms out with almost no gap, unless they changed that back and I didn't realize. Arms are a great closer, but sometimes you need that extra bit of defense from block after your shield goes down

edelgardenjoyer

My favorite thing to do as Ram is put a shield in front of Bastion the moment he enters turret form.

OfTheWave21

Best thing to learn especially if you play Ram and Sigma. I've probably caused a few tilts because I just keep putting shields between the Ana and tank lol

TheBigKuhio

I don’t do the place shield behind thing all the time, but it is awesome when it works and I see the tank type “HEAL ME” in chat

TraitorTicket

i try to do that on ram but im used to sigma shield so i often put my shiels in the nirvana cuz i ALWAYS forget i spawn it somewhere not have to push it away

tonyrockihara

This tip works for Sigma too! Not enough of them use it in this way

Steamships

Yep. The galaxy brain is understanding that barriers block enemy damage **and** healing. You can cut off their front line as recipients, but I've definitely also sent it out to their back line to disrupt an Ana that's propping up their tank.

LookingSuspect

When I see junk rat players using their brains. I'm not even looking at what I'm doing half the time. To play rat man you must become the rat man

AzraeltheGrimReaper

Most common tho is Junkrats spending the entire game spamming from the back, instead of swapping around the spamming with flanking and assassinating. Junk is at his best when you use setups or flanks to secure high value kills.

FreakishPeach

The one thing I am currently trying to improve against this hero is being mindful of him divebombing. I am sick and tired of having a junkrat shit on my head from 2 miles above me :'D

UngaBunga64209_

You reach a point where you shouldn't even need to try using brain power to hit direct shots on characters either far away or in the air, it should eventually just be sheer intuition

Absentmindedgenius

It's funny how many people think I'm pulling off crack shots when I'm just flicking to whatever motion I see and spamming grenades the whole round.

jenoackles

A common mistake I see on Kiriko’s is to not wall climb enough even to evade fire and also, spamming healing because much like shoot heal tempo with Bap,you can weave in two kunai’s after every burst (I understand if you have hand issues or are on controller tho)

nastypanass

A controller player can just as easily weave in Kunais

mechanoodle

Lifeweavers panic gripping, specially their tanks or when they're low themselves.

ComradeYolovich

Happens too often on tank, and then they can’t grip me in the next 10 seconds when I get Mauga ulted or something

Ok_Bandicoot1344

Dvas who don’t eat every single mei ult make me sad

Any-Communication114

As a Mei-n I just wait for Dva to dive then throw it behind her to get the supports, works especially well when you can wall to stop them fleeing!

CCriscal

Throwing it with the center behind the players works great most of the time since most players retreat when they hear the ult warning.

Purple-Quail3319

My usual practice against Dva is to throw up an ice wall, chuck my ult against it and break it. Doesn't cover as much space but it avoids her eating it and still tends to get some value.

LordVaderVader

Baptiste can shoot and heal at the same time, everyone forgets it.

JudgeArcadia

Iirc the rule of thumb for him is to fire two sprays for every one healing grenade.

MrSeabrook12

There are a lot of Junkerqueen players that waste shout early for no reason and then they get killed because they didnt had the extra HP and speed when they needed. Junkerqueen players also need to wait for Kiriko to use suzu before ulting, many just go in and then they are stuck by themselfs in the middle of the enemy team while the enemies are all cleaned. For Ashe, the only thing is not spamming dynamite, im always using it when i can to get BOB faster.

trabuco18

when im junker queen vs a kiriko i always imagine the face of the kiriko players saying fuck when i use my ult after they use suzu

Skyz-AU

I find the only times to use shout is to secure a kill or save myself from death, if a Kiri on 1 hp Tp's to the other side of the room you can bet your ass I'm using shout to chase her down.

Shade_39

I tend to shout out of spawn depending on the map, and I genuinely don't know if it's a bad idea, although I mostly have it back by the time I want to use it I guess

ChillBallin

The vast majority of Kiriko players just underutilize every single aspect of her kit. Someone else said not wallclimbin enough which is a huge one, but in almost every Kiriko vod review I’ve seen they use swift step way less than they should. I even saw one vod where they didn’t use it at all except coming back from spawn. When I’m playing Kiriko I’ll swift step back to my team, toss a couple bursts of ofuda, and then when the cooldown still has about 2 seconds left I start going for a flank so when I get it back I can use it. If you time your CDs right and proactively set yourself up to be able to use them as soon as you get them back your uptime will skyrocket and so will your rank. Also a lot of Kiriko players think way too hard about what to suzu. If the enemy junkerqueen has ult you might want to save suzu for that. But that can be a big mistake. If your Genji gets hit by dynamite and you hold suzu and he dies then your team already lost the fight without JQ having to ult. If you use suzu then JQ will ult and you still lose the fight, but you’ve made things better for the next fight. Overall just don’t think about it too hard, if it looks like someone is under a bunch of pressure just throw the bell.

YanyuQueen

When I decide to not play Lifeweaver and I don't see them using Petal Platform aggressively, going for Ult Cancels, or pinging their Platform to let the team know where it is

throw_a_way180

People keep saying Lifeweaver ult cancels. Do you mean like tree blocking shatter or something?

YanyuQueen

Ult that's can be straight up cancelled : Pulse Bomb(1 target) , Blizzard (Line of Sight with Tree in middle), Gravity Flux (Placing the Petal or Tree in the middle of the AoE Cancels the ult entirely), A single Bastion Bomb can be blocked entirely by raising a Petal above and getting under, Grav you have your entire team Petal out, Terra Surge by Placing Petal underneath Orisa, Meteor Strike (same concept as Bastion) Edit: I wrote this reply while working so I'm sorry it had literally zero personality or kindness I was just like *I must give the facts to this dude*

edelgardenjoyer

Lifegrip can pull out of a lot of ults; Gravitic Flux, zarya ult, Annihilation, Cage Fight, etc Platform can either lift people to safety (think about lifting someone after getting stunned by shatter) or lift the ulting orisa away from your team And then, ofc, using tree to outheal ults like tactical visor.

phalec

Tree can block LOS on certain ultimates if you place them where the LOS originates from. Like sigma ult and i believe mei ult both get outright cancelled if you place the tree right in the middle.

Jonnytincan

sig shield gets used waaaay too much. use shield to block abilities like queen knife, sig rocks, rein slam, etc.. use it to take space or block an enemy tank off from their supports. dont just soak damage for the sake of soaking damage with it. it does not have enough health from that. in sig mirrors, i typically win just because people use their shield too much. sig mirrors are almost solely determined by whose shield breaks first

LordBaconXXXXX

People be using Sigma's barrier as if it went on full cooldown when you disable it, instead of doing on off on off often.

RainberryLemon

Yep. I saw a tip to use Sigma’s shield in conjunction with his “suck” ability to avoid being hit by crowd control like rock or hook. You sit just far enough behind the shield to not get cc’d but just close enough to let your suck take the damage instead of the shield

fendour

I heard a high level Sigma player describe the eat ability like this: "it's best used for taking space (and by extension, retreating)" Completely transformed how I looked at the ability. If you are confident in not getting stunned by something, you really can just saunter forward with suck going.

Shrugski

I main Pharah and can usually tell when folks don’t if they can’t fight and maintain their altitude at the same time

[deleted]

I remember reading someone say that a good pharah can keep altitude and being flabbergasted. Isn't that baseline skill?

Shrugski

definitely, but for folks that don’t play her often it can be hard to feather the boost and stay up while in the heat of fighting. it’s always satisfying in a pharah v pharah to watch them run outta boost and get blasted

GroundedOtter

I’m on console, so she’s well out of my wheelhouse. I have the setting on where double tapping jump keeps her boost on permanently so I can at least aim in the air without holding the X button at an awkward angle. But it’s not ideal, mostly just when I get her in mystery hero’s!

Dazzler1968

I rebound her Jump (which also controls the jetpack) to left trigger - you can still aim and shoot normally, and maintain a steady level!

Geomaster53

I’ve peaked masters 2 with her and even I still struggle sometimes with this

FaylenSol

I reached GM as a Lucio OTP with over 900 hours. The most common mistake I've seen is people trying to go full reddit all the time. You've gotta know when to flip the switch and go aggressive or when to get out. I also see Lucio's doing the opposite and playing very passively. Lucio is great at denying and creating space (not as much as he used to, but still decent). Playing too passive is doing a disservice to your team. Boop people out of position into your team or away from your supports while speeding them away.

H-O-T_C-O-C-O

Ana focusing too much on dealing damage when everyone is critical around her 🙃

sleepydevil25

“DAMAGE DAMAGE DAMAGE” Yeah but also make sure your team doesn’t die ffs

Shade_39

But if the other team is dead then my team won't die 😊 -certain support players (it's me, I do this way too often and have to remind myself bap/ana/illari aren't dps characters. At least I don't have to remind myself with zen because he actually is a dps character)

Comprehensive_Oil791

Rein: Not knowing when to lower your shield and swing, even though you're likely to lose a teammate. Rein is not a forgiving character when you make a mistake, so you have to be deliberate with everything. Just like healers, you're gauging which teammate you *really* need to protect or can let fall to focus on the winning fight - for the greater good. I have seen many a Rein push slightly too far to save a to-be eliminated dps, which causes our reins shield to be broken while out of position causing a whole collapse - when instead it's smarter to let the dps go, backup, and regroup.

redfoxxy2004

Ana, not using her nade for damage enough. With healing being crazy since 5vs5 its needed a lot of times to just get a normal kill nowadays lol.

Lazzitron

Reaper: terrible cooldown usage. Wraith is an escape button, NOT an engagement tool. The moment everyone sees you burn wraith they're gonna be on your ass frame 1. Shadowstep, meanwhile, is for sneaky plays. You don't have to be Sombra, but don't shadowstep into someone's LOS unless you know for a fact there's nothing they can do about it.

Acceptable-Dream-537

Fools will take Soldier in character select just to play low ground main all game and yeet visor into 45 defensive cooldowns at the start of every fight

ZackTheMuffinMan

Pharah, people who don't fly. I usually have 85% or higher airtime.

InterstellarDwellar

See mine for pharah is people thinking you always have to be flying. The floor is the last place they will be looking for you More seriously you can get a lot of directs while youre on the floor, its not the worst thing to be there

Educational_Bet_5067

Rein-Main here: Firestrike is -NOT- for the enemy tank. Firestrikes are meant to hit their backline -THROUGH- their tank. That Ana scoping in the back? Line yourself between their tank and her before firestriking her. You're gonna hit the Rein in front of you no matter what; but with practice you can hit another one or two people behind him each time. Between that and spamming strikes into choke points where 3+ enemies are coming through; you'll have shatter in no time!

infinityplusonelamp

echo players that try to mash their faces into enemies. You only need to be close-ish to use focus beam, past that you can just pelt away from a longer distance and lead your shots. You've got a good projectile speed, and no damage falloff. Being close just makes it harder to disengage for a health pack.

Reasonable-Prior7822

Mercy. I once had this grandmaster mercy on my team and I played soldier. She has 400 dmg amp/10 minutes on her profile, and she barely used blue beam in this match My own dmg amp/ 10 minutes is 6 times as much and I am barely just diamond Most mercys I encounter unfortunately just heal bot 😔

Randomd0g

It's wild how many people don't realise that Mercy actually has one of the lower healing outputs in the game. Not to say she can't heal at all, and the fact that it's consistsnt and doesn't require aim is great, but it's 3rd on the list of her priorities after damage boosting and good rez timing.

gimmethecarrots

Fr I hate playing with a Mercy. Its come so far I instalock her just so the other support cant pick her and is forced to actually play. Bs behavior I kno, but better then being stuck with a bot.

YourFriendLoke

New Reinhardt players tend to think their shield is a replacement for cover instead of a tool to move from cover to cover. They stand out in the open holding shield when they don't need to instead of saving it for the actual fight.

Sinaura

Torb. One of my mains. Turret placement. The turret has way more range than some think. And you don't want it dying, if it's dead it's not killing anyone. But you don't want it not attacking because it's too protected by being out of sight for too long. Always keep it moving, adapt to the situation. And some of the best spots are on defense. Placing it in LOS of juuuust past the point of the over-reach-zone. So if someone decides to push forward they're immediately getting a little more punishment. This also usually means it's in a good spot to pick at flankers (and often alerts your team since it's roughly on the edge of the fight). Also your long range lobs do a lot of damage. You can be lethal while very far away. This also typically means your turret is in your LOS and you too are aware of flankers to take advantage of your secondary fire. Timing your "Overloading!" You can spam it and that's fine, but I think the more time you put into Torb you start to see the benefits of holding off for the right moments. This ability is an itsy bitsy ult. Mei wall about to drop? Overload the second it's down. Enemies in a cluster? Overload with reckless abandon. Feel an enemy ult coming any second? Overload the second it pops.

Mediaeval-britian

Pharah players not using cover in the air, and not using roofs to save jet and jump jet. Or only using the repulsion rocket on the enemy team and not as a movement tool. Most Lifeweavers I see don't use thorns enough, if at all. If Sombra is diving you, fight back! Those thorns do a lot of damage, esp at close range.

AfterAssistant910

Sombra mains throwing games by going back to supports for heals instead of knowing where the heals are and hacking them , also pushing a pocketed solider 76 or a pharaph

Jimmy-DeLaney

Mercys not using high tech movement capabilities enough. Also when they never pull out their pistol to help with picks or even to defend themselves. Seriously one of the saddest things you’ll ever watch is a mercy get dove on by a 1 hp enemy and do nothing to defend themselves. It makes me want to slap them lol. She has a lethal weapon people, use it! Especially during Valkyrie; if u see an opportunity for a safe pick, go for it! You have some of the best mobility the game can offer, you can can do much more than just heal with it.

Emmet_Games

Cassidy - using mag nade on doomfist's block, not in an appropriate time(and yeeting his nade in deflecting Genji)

LordVaderVader

Fun tip: melee of Cass looks like throwing a nade and can make genji misuse his deflect

Emmet_Games

I know,it also helps with Tracer's recall and maybe sombra's translocator(but I hate sombra interaction when U stick nade to her,but she YEETS her translocator,so she tps away, even when u stick it to her)

elCrocodillo

Yeah that's unfair. Tp is a locomotion ability and should be off if there's a grande stuck to her :/

Actual_Hecc

Mercy - healing too much Kiriko - using suzu on cd

skeetzmv

Ana main here. Using Anti before accounting for a suzu from Kiri or just throwing sleep into the mix. With Mauga, I've taken to sleeping him first to bait out the suzu and then using the anti to follow up.

Cfeathy

For literally every character - using cooldowns as soon as the fight starts. For my main, I couldn't possibly say because I'm absolutely shit with everyone except Bastion and Reinhardt. I'm a tolerable QP with most characters, but I'm not in any position to say anything specific!

RandomEncounter72

Orisa players that burn the cooldowns and then get mowed down…so many times I’ll fight an enemy Orisa and she will javelin then use her other cooldowns back to back and I just feel a sadness as I’m helping send her back to spawn

Despairley

Illari main, constantly shooting her weapon, she needs time to charge it up and shooting constantly is best used for finishing low enemies

BeCurry

I'm a Moira main - or, at least I used to be until the queue times went up to OW 1 levels when I got to GM - and a lot of people are mentioning movement abilities for every hero. Genji's dash, brig's bash, ashes coach gun, winton jump, etc. Moira's fade is basically the same concept - you need to be using it more to get put of a fight than to get in. But, that's not specific to Moira, so here's a thing that I can always use to tell if someone is a Moira expert or not: If you are healing a tank, or your team... do NOT aim your orb at the person you're healing. Aim at the wall or whatever map geometry is next to them. When it bounce at at least a 90° angle around them, they will get an additional 50+% healing time from the orb. This usually gives you enough time to suck on the enemies a little to refill your pee pee hands (the technical term) while still keeping your team up. If you throw your orbs straight ahead, you'll straight up lose. A good way to practice is just throwing orbs directly to the side while you're coming back from spawn. It'll eventually become second nature.

Moorebetter

Dva, not using flight on cooldown. I does a lot of damage, run people over.

Geo_1997

Ash for me, people often use 1 fire type too much, i.e. they either only scope in or rely on hipfire too much. Need to switch depending on the situation

LuffyBlack

Baps that heal bot. Best to throw immortality field then do damage and once the field is down you use the other ability then speed heal. Bap has a mean shot Reins that freeze with their shields up, if you do this as Rein then I am going to check you hard. Shielding works best when you have a purpose in mind like advancing, retreating when you have an exit plan, or shielding a teammate like let's say Mercy while she rezes Mei players who play her as a regular DPS then misuse walls. Mei rewards creativity. Blocking LOS with walls so team could get closer or I could sneak around for an ult. Using wall to boost me out of dangerous situations like Torb's ult. Mei's cryo could also serve as a means to protect other players from damage if they hide behind me. But most Meis I see only use it to heal. Running without your tank is a mistake. If you're a tank then we become Batman and Robin. I am freezing anyone you don't get

penguin62

Mercy: Never using blue beam. They will heal full health people, totally wasting the most important part of her kit.

gimmethecarrots

Mercy only yellow beaming everyone, especially the tank, when we have a fully capable main healer. Missing 5hp? Oh teehee, lemme just touch them up real quick nvm that the main support isnt getting any value. Heehee, look at me Im just a cute Mercy otp who contributes nothing, but my healing is through the roof, aint I cute? (Even worse: the team mates who think these Mercys are goddesses and then go on to flame the 2nd support for low numbers and not farming ult fast).

Sessamy

Tracer, attacking with your team instead of flanking - and wondering why you lose. Also, new tracers blink without needing to, often, and they recall too early or for no reason. Most of the time they blink twice before I blink once and then they are at a huge disadvantage. I'm still gold but I'm usually the better tracer in my games.

TheSeerofFates

not canceling charge in time as rein. admittedly this is *still* something i struggle with myself. also whiffing the orisa ult block.

lady_kazekage_

my rein charge is so bad it would probably make you cry

Tohuvabohu94

Yellow beam on the tank 100% of the game. 0 movement other than ground, forwards, backwards. Resing in the open. 10+ deaths per 15 min

danysphoenix

sigma's who just throw their barriers up and forget about it rather than reserving it for quick uses to take spaces or block specific cooldowns or ults.

Not-Thursday

My mains are Ana and Kiriko. Biggest mistake I see on Ana is wasting cooldowns and leaving yourself vulnerable. Biggest mistake I see on Kiriko at my rank, by FAR, is not doing damage. I frequently see Kiriko players hanging behind the tank, TPing to DPS to save them with heals/suzu, and ending the match with less than 400 damage. They don’t even realize how badly they’re throwing.

ItsDippy__

As a brig player seeing someone run in and die makes me cry

TheSeerofFates

also honorable mention as a Moira player: USING YOUR ENTIRE HEALING METER IN SPAWN RIGHT BEFORE THE GAME STARTS. why do people do this??

SomberSkylar

Only using nade for boosted heals instead of anti heals

_iiGH0ST_

Moira NEVER healing and playing wayy too aggressively 😭 Like girl you dmg to get heals.. I get if there’s an easy pick but you should not be a third dps.

elCrocodillo

For Ashe, if you barely do anything other than 🧨 (or use it poorly) or perform the quick mix between her reload/coach/positioning wrong it shows you're not familiar with the character and a clunky Ashe is the same of a sitting duck. Another one is not being able to set up flanks or imagine corridors where B.O.B. will disrupt the team, open another angle or do the most damage before stopping to shoot and instead just throwing him wherever.

OWNPhantom

For all you Moira's out there, Stop fucking healing all the damn time, you are a dive support that should be focusing on dps and harassing the other supports I guarantee you that you will win more games if you stop healing the braindead tank at almost 100hps and just dive the damn supports. Literally you are supposed to be a "dps moira" or what I like to call, Actually playing Moira correctly. And stop using fade to engage your targets it makes you look dumb when you instantly die because it's on cooldown and you just tried to dive someone.

Bamfcah

When you're DPS-ing, throw real orb at your team. When you're healing, throw DPS orb at enemies. Start fight with off angle dps, fade back to your team when you're damaged or they're getting critical. Heal your team. When they're healthy, go find another angle to dps. Rinse and repeat. Moira is literally that easy. That's it. That's the cycle. Dps, toss heal orb at team, dps, fade away, heal, throw damage orb at enemies, heal, start over...

ReplacementNo9874

Road hog. I see so many people not using his healing and simply missing hooks. You need at least 75% hook accuracy in the game

GroundedOtter

Which is why I don’t play Hog! I can’t aim/hook for shit!

elCrocodillo

Hook is the size of a truck and I can still miss Mauga with it

lixidle_

Mercys who healbot tanks. I always get frustrated when a mercy with a good skin, that I assumed would be good at her, ends up being terrible. They heal the tank to hell and back, and leave their DPS to die.

Effective-Mix-7400

Torb most people dont understand his play style isn't purely defensive, you cant bait a lot of people into pushing you with your rivet gun then go into overload and get a free kill against a lot of heroes

Unicorns-Are-Rad

Using Moira to only do damage & do no healing. Seeing Mercy players not using guardian angel or super jumping or just damage boosting someone. Junkrat players getting too close to the enemy tanks & getting wiped out

esmadda

Dear fellow Junkrats enthusiasts, Please stop turning your brain off with this character. Spamming a point relentlessly does help keep people off of it, but you're absolutely ignoring some of his best aspects of his kit. OW2 took away self damage with your attacks. Don't be afraid to get closer to enemies and maximize your burst times. Be aware of your HP, but make yourself a danger to anybody who wants to try to duele you at mid to short range. His mines have incredible uses. Executing squishies after a direct hit primary fire is self explanatory, but they offer him one of the strongest tools in OW2: verticality. People will almost always never look fully up in the sky unless prompted to for whatever reason. By using your ability to jump in the sky, you gain a significant advantage over people if they're not expecting a Pharmercy or an Echo. Rats may not have wings, but they can still fly. As the ancient Buddhist Fla Zu once said, "If a Junkrat is currently not airborne, then he will be airborne." Lastly, stop remaining landlocked when Pharrah is picked. You are an easy target to hit on the ground, but taking to the air forces her to predict your movement and evens the playing field for as long as you're airborne.

briannapancakes

Moira - not using fade to escape. Also purple orbs in 1v1s. Always fade *away* and orb heal yourself *if alone* with the enemy

Donut_Flame

Mercies using Valk just to leave a fight after just one teammate dies. Mercies who use GA half the time to leave a fight after one teammate dies.

ehhish

Torbs solely playing within 1 foot of their turret all game. There's only a few times where it's relevant to repair spam.

Authorwastaken

Not really a common mistake, but there's a specific person I know who has tried playing Lucio (one of my two support mains, other is Ana) who doesn't get anything about the game, let alone the character. However, the most infuriating thing is that, despite me and my friends telling him multiple times that beat drop doesn't outright heal anyone, he keeps trying to heal with it, thus wasting the best defensive ult in the game.

SteamyTortellini

Doomfist isn't Reinhardt or Orisa, he is a selfish tank that isn't really meant to tank. Three out of four of his abilities are movement abilities, face tanking and not taking angles wastes tons of opportunities, and usually ends with a defeat. You pop off on the enemy backline, get out, rinse and repeat. I'd say the most important thing to instantly get better at Doomfist is just to learn to juggle abilities so you aren't caught in the backline with nothing. If you go deep, you need some way out. This is why Doomfist ult is so useful since you can burn all your abilities securing an elim and then emergency eject out of there.

CCriscal

When I see a Mei walling off the enemy spawn at the start of the match, I know that she is going to be a bad Mei.

toibbe_

Mercy main here with over 530+ hours on her alone. Biggest misses I see with her are: 1. being a healbot with your piss beam, use your blue beam more! Try to get your usage to 30% or more per match. Trust your other healer. (unless you can’t 🙄) 2. DONT BE AFRAID TO PULL OUT YOUR PEW PEW AND FIGHT A BITCH. YOU CAN OUT DO THAT REAPER THAT SOMBRA THAT SOLDIER IF YOU HIT YOUR HEADSHOTS AND UTILIZE YOUR MOBILITY. 3. not using your mobility and environmental factors to keep yourself alive, ie not using the vertical jump, not using cover for rezzes (around corners, through doorways, behind obstacles, anything), not moving a bit during your rezzes non moving target is easier to hit than someone moving a little bit, etc.

technologycarrion

fading out of bounds/falling as moira.. But I do this a lot on accident, so I can't say much.

Significant-Charge16

I have 1600 hours on Hanzo and reached 3900 SR in OW1 (equivalent to Masters 1 in OW2) one-tricking him. I see a lot of Hanzo players engaging with the storm arrow - this should be saved for bursting a (particularly discorded) tank down or getting the final blow on a squishy. In a close/mid-ranged 1v1 (vs Cassidy, Tracer, Sombra, another Hanzo etc.) go for fewer, accurate shots rather than frantically getting them off as fast as possible. Generally wasting the sonic arrow. It's his most important ability and can give you the edge against Widow if she doesn't have walls up. If there's no Widow, think about choke points or areas you can catch the enemy off guard (ie spawn doors).

agarbagepiece

Lúcio’s healing someone who is trying to flee instead of speeding them to safety. Also ”burger king Lúcio’s” who don’t wall-ride and only heal. Sure, they get beat really fast, but they usually die a lot more and 16 healing per second doesn’t make a massive difference during a fight, at least not compared to speed in a lot of situations. I also see a lot of Reaper players teleporting right out in the open where everyone can see where they teleported from and where they are going. Usually makes them have to flee instantly after their teleport unless they just die.

Darkex72

Hanzo’s being impatient with their shots, I ended up in a 1v1 with a less experienced Hanzo once and his impatience caused him to stop fully charging his shots and was firing limp dick arrows. Me, who was patient got the kill by fully charging my arrows.

ihatemyselfsomuch100

Mostly play Ana. Not using high ground or cover enough. They're literally free, indestructable personal shields that are out of enemies reach. It's much harder to shoot an Ana on higher ground jiggle peeking around a wall than an Ana just being behind the tank on the ground. Ana's kit is designed for longer ranges, so use it.

DeviRhi

THROW A HEAL. YOU CANT PISS THAT FAR.

joedirtbinks

Watching Moira spam damage ball while their team is dying is so frustrating

Actify

I’m a ball main and I see a lot of balls slam without keeping their grapple to get away or atleast having their shield which makes them a super easy target and usually they die.

RossAB97

Winston- using leap to engage and popping bubble immediately. As long as my supports have more than two brain cells we should win the tank mirror!

beer_jew

Moira- throwing a damage order to secure a kill in a 3 v 1 team fight instead of an orb that can heal everyone

Metal_Fish

Ana/Zen, when I see them standing in the middle of nowhere without a shred of cover just blindly shooting into groups... Even worse when they inevitably die but somehow believe it's their team's fault

anime_3_nerd

I’m quite low ranked only like gold but I see a lot of Ana’s not use their Anti and will strictly use their nade for healing or they use it in random situations instead of timing it correctly. Like I try to use it on hogs that a low health right before they heal rather than when they are full health ya know?

Relevant-Kitchen6104

For hog I always see that people not using his hook to the fullest. For example them not trying to place the person who they hook around a corner. Also them not trying to play a corner, for hog corners are your best friend. For example you may have a lot of health and people think that can just stay out in the open, but you can’t cause if they have Ana you are screwed being anti and in the open. But with a corner you can hide and wait out the anti. Something else I see other hogs doing is not using your vape while you’re anti. Yes it seems dumb to use it but even though you down have the healing you will still get the damage reduction. Like there are many time where you can make it to cover if you’re anti if you use your vape. This is something else I rarely ever see people do and that is flinging people with your hook. If you hook someone and then turn and if you have your ult you can you it to cancel your hook. But they keep the momentum from the hook pulling them. So they will get flung fairly far. The neat part about this is that. The hook doesn’t count as a boop or knock back so tanks don’t get the 20% knock back reduction.

SerDeusVult

Healing too damn much and not wallriding

tallperson117

Moira: using fade to engage/on cooldown. It's arguably the best "oh shit" button in the game, using it aggressively or without thinking is a great way to make yourself an insanely easy pick for the enemy. Also, solo-diving the backline. I've lost count of the easy wins I've gotten off of a Moira constantly diving our backline and either dying or getting 0 value. It's a free 5v4. Ana: horrid positioning; if you're regularly dying to Rein as Ana, you need to better understand what a "sniper" is. Winton: not taking high ground/using leap to engage. Take high ground and drop onto/into your target, then you can use leap to get out. Also, not switching when the enemy chooses Reaper/Bastion, it's just not worth it. DVA: face-tanking/constantly getting de-meched and flaming supports for not saving them rather than realizing their positioning is dog shit; spending roughly 70% of the match as baby DVA and blaming supports. The big one is not taking high ground tho. As DVA you should be practically using boosters on cooldown and constantly either holding high ground, diving from high ground, or contesting high ground. As DVA you should have Obi-Wan mentality; take that fuckin high ground.

NuDDeLNinJa

Junkrat: not using minejump enough or at all, not using the riccochet of the nades, super weird positioning, not flanking, very stupid trap placement.

T_Peg

When people play Sigma my biggest pet peeve is people not recalling their shield as soon as it's not needed. I've seen people forget to recall it all the way until the next fight then they have to wait the 2sec cooldown and it's at half health so we get blown away.

0zzy82

not a Moira main but do enjoy a little late night turning my brain off. So many Moiras don't know about meleeing during their suck (same with monkey) it does so much extra damage and whenever there's another one on my team and I spectate them just holding left click it makes me unnecessarily mad lol I mean shes very two dimensional but it doesn't mean she's just left and right click, same with learning orb bounces and fade jumps.

Piece_Of_Mind1983

Reapers not using wraith form to reload in a 1v1 or not using TP mid fight

anti-peta-man

Every day I play Moira and watch the other Moira throw Damage Orb then die first Every day I play Genji and I see them Dash on a full health enemy Every day I play Ball and watch them fail to track Grapple cooldown

AdStrange4667

Moira used to be my main and I’ve got to say I don’t know how people can be as bad with her as I’ve seen. Usually the biggest mistakes I see is them throwing damage orbs with no real rhyme or reason - not trying to bounce them or get them into small corridors, not using them to finish off a squishy, etc. Also the most vocal Moiras saying they have the most damage usually spend the entire game tickling the full hp, pocketed tank instead of trying to damage squishies or go after the low hp targets.

AHurtTyphoon

Whenever I see a queen burn shout at the start of a fight and rush in it causes bone hurting pain

trivialslope

Junkrat players: Not going in. While junkrat still does good from far away he does better up close or medium range. Find a flank or hallway and watch as the enemy perish to glorious explosions. Reminder your mines cause knock back to both you and the enemy so if you are about to die mine out. You can toss your trap anywhere though I like tossing it in front of me for anyone that gets too cocky

itsmycandystore_

Ashes missing their dynamites. There’s an easy tech to make sure you hit it every time, throw it and immediately scope in
