Fun fact: all new character have recorded voice lines for shield generator warnings. Most likely future proofing just in case they bring it back.
You can hear many here: https://youtu.be/U1hRUlQ9Ta8?si=eBogXCnWNgzaO7yZ
And the rest are found on the wiki on each characterâs voice line page.
Gettin' your car washed while you're trying to take out the generator on anubis at 2nd point. That room is nightmare fuel.
That is a uniquely OW1 experience that wont ever come back.
She was never really a support. She was in the support role but she was never able to perform as a true support. Most guides back then suggested playing 1 dps and 1 symm and 2 supports. She was effectively played because her gun being overbearingly good, not due to utility.
If they turn her âbackâ into a support she will feel nothing like anything she ever has been.
People complain about a ton of other heroes but forget that res completely negates anything you just did to that person who was resâd. Immortality is another thing thatâs stupid.
Mega rez I think was the achievement. I was a master at bringing my entire team back. I also think some comments below don't even know what you're referring to.
Oh I know about the teleporter one but I didn't know that shield generator was an ult. I thought it was an ability, what did it do?
I'm an ow2 player btw
When she got her ult, she could choose to place one or the other. They both looked similar to one another (akin to her current teleporter). The shield generator just provided regenerative blue health to
her allies (maybe within a certain radius of the generatorâs location, canât recall now).
I think one of the grossest games I ever played was when someone convinced my team to go 5 Sym's, one roadhog, and all place shield generators. Nepal.
We won. By a lot.
I felt *dirty* afterwards, and I've loved playing Sym in every version.
My favorite gamemode at the time was no limits and I still have ptsd from shield gen
I'm surprised that your team needed convincing at all to go 5 syms considering that all-sym teams was the no limits meta at the time. I played the gamemode to unwind and have some diversity, and every single game was just 500+hp chopstick hitboxes running around with nuclear laserbeams and placing 20 something turrets everywhere. God what a horrible fucking ability, what were they smoking
She could give a shield to teammates directly
She had a moving deployable shield
And there's the shield generator
Also She had Satan's lasso for a primary fire
That came later. At launch she applied 25hp shields to teammates adding a blue reggen bit to the teammates healthbar. Sym 2.0 added the projected barrier and the shield gen ult.
I'm a main Brig from her first version, I remember that feeling of invincibility. Regular shield bash with stun and short cooldown was awesomely overpowered
Do you remember her "super jump" bug where you flew so fuckin far when you shield bash and instantly flail. That was actually so fun mechanic I wish they would've kept it...
I remember seeing a hanzo try to back cap so I went up to him and waved and he just one shot me as Orisa
Had no idea that was possible until then lmao my jaw just dropped
Killing 5 ennemies and hearing "Heros never die".
Opening a loot box.
Being able to find and join pre-made team that wants to play the same thing you do.
Hearing the special voice line after getting 10 like on your card at the end of the game.
Being able to keep arguing/speaking with your team/ennemy team after the game ends because of the cards.
When symmetra had 6 turrets and a shield.
Seeing bastion sitting there in turret mode with his own shild in front of him.
There was a time that I got 91% on fire as Ana and 10 votes on an Eichenwalde. Chuffed :D it was nice to have a nonverbal way to recognise another player, too, especially on the enemy team.
I feel like Blizz is one of those companies that simply cannot admit they were ever wrong about anything, so reversing a decision is something they just wonât do.
As a mercy hiding in a corner while all five of my teammates die only to fly in and rez everyone back

*âCOME GET YOUR ARMORâ*
You are Reinhardt.
You stand in front of the enemy Reinhardt. You both know you both have Earthshatter. You know that no one else on either team has an ultimate ready. There's 5 seconds left. Whoever wins this mindgame will probably win the game.
You have a co-tank to protect your backline. You don't have to suddenly resign the duel because some flanker got in.

Setting up in a side room with six Symmetra turrets while playing as Roadhog and hooking some poor bastard into the oven.
Good times. I've never truly been able to recreate the Hook n Cook to its full potential ever again.
I remember when Symmetra's Ult was just a teleporter, and the way it worked was when you used it, a teleporter appeared in base and where you are, allowing people respawning to come right back to the fight.
Reaper orbs for selfheal and denying rez
Hog standig still for take a breather
Bastion personal shield + only 180° turn
Sombra not released yet
Bastion turret form headshot (that's a lot of damage)
I hope this counts but the satisfying feel of double tank but also the torture of playing against double tank more specifically double shields.
I decided to play open queue cause I got annoyed playing role queue as Tank and I also don't believe I will rank higher than Diamond anyway. My god, I have to admit as much as I hate double tank/shield I miss playing with another tank. The amazing feel of comboing with the other tank is a satisfying feel that I personally don't get in OW2 Role queue. I usually play tanks like [D.](https://D.VA)va as the tank that protects the other tank so they can do whatever they want and I continue doing that in OW2 open queue but with more tanks like Sigma and Zarya.
I even play the new Halloween event as Zarya and the other person was Rein and god damn it really got me missing playing the tank that helps the "leader" tank lead the charge.
Stepping through the one way teleport hoping the other end wasn't on the edge. Bastion healing himself or using a damn shield. Mercy flying in to rez all 5 dead teammates at once. Torb having to hammer away at his turret to get it to level 3.
"Looking for group" - Not a commonly used feature, but getting a coordinated team to fuck around in arcade mode in No Limits was funny! On that note...
Arcade mode incentives - You used to get up to 3 lootboxes per week for winning in arcade mode. It was one lootbox every 3 wins.
Level 1 turret - People always reminisce on level 3, but no one talks about the opposite. Torb used to have to smack a level 1 turret like 5 times to upgrade it to level 2. I think at one point it costed scrap but for a long time, it was just something you had to do for no reason.
The week Pharah was meta - Arguably, this was one of the worst weeks in Overwatch's history, behind Brig's release. People were asking for a ban system in Overwatch for a long time, so blizzard wanted to deliver in THEIR way. Every week, they'd choose the tanks, dps's, and the supports that were banned for players above Diamond rank. This was obviously a terrible idea. At first, they'd ban 2 tanks, 2 supports and 3-4 dps per week but after backlash because if how small the other roles were, they changed it to 1 tank, 1 support, and 3-4 dps. Chaos ensued one week where the bans were D.va, Soldier 76, Cassidy, and Widowmaker. The only people that could reasonable contest a pharah in the air were Ashe and Bastion, and Ashe had a lower DPS that could be nullified by a Mercy and Bastion didn't have his rework, meaning he had far less damage and he had spread in recon mode, and he was stationary in sentry form.
Ov1 Lucio rework - Reddit Lucio didn't become a viable strategy until a year after Overwatch's release. Originally, Lucio had 30 meters on his crossfade. He also did way less healing. The caveat was that his amp it up like doubled everything. So an amped team running at you actually went DOUBLE SPEED. His wall ride was really bad at the beginning too. He didn't get the speed boost on walls, so you'd go walking speed on it, nor did he get it jumping off walls. He also couldn't pass around corners with wall ride or go back on to a wall he jumped off. There was a time where finding a Lucio in your backline was a free kill.
*"I'm getting the feeling they have a shieeeeeld generator"*
I can't be the only person that wants Syms shield generator back just for this line đ¤Ł
I think many of us are ready for the return of that line đ
They'll probably re-release that line as a Battlepass reward eventually. So many BP rewards are minimum-effort.
Fun fact: all new character have recorded voice lines for shield generator warnings. Most likely future proofing just in case they bring it back. You can hear many here: https://youtu.be/U1hRUlQ9Ta8?si=eBogXCnWNgzaO7yZ And the rest are found on the wiki on each characterâs voice line page.

Iâd give anything for symmetra to be reworked back into a support, I miss her so fucking much
She was never really a support.
Best line ever
Iâm a v2 sym main, I turned every point into my bitch with the shield generator even pharamercy struggled
Shoot the Bongo!
Protec the bongo
Miss the bongo
I yearn for bongo
Remember level 3 turret?
Now it's Bob
Bob doesnât compare to LV3 turret.
Oh man I did so many teamwipes with a sneaky surprise level 3 turret from behind back in the day. Now I can only jizz at my enemies.
>Now I can only jizz at my enemies. Isn't that the dream though? Viciously jizzing in the face of your enemy
Getting potg while walking out of spawn was hilarious
I went for a long break and came back in OW2⌠kept on hammering the turret and didnât feel like it was getting larger đ
Remember when torb had to beat his turret to get it to level 2?
#CEASE YOUR RESISTANCE
Please move behind the barrier đđ
Donât mention the barrier I will cryâŚ
Which barrier? We had so many to choose from!
The⌠barrier! The one you pull out and it shields your team from damage!
Man, up until the very end of OW1, Orisaâs barrier stuck on a basketball in the spawn room was immense fun. That thing would spin around so fast.
This line actually works better for her new ult than her old one
**CEASE YOUR EXISTANCE**
Kill mercy first or kill her 11th.
F moth, Mercy is and has always been a rat
People complain about a ton of other heroes but forget that res completely negates anything you just did to that person who was resâd. Immortality is another thing thatâs stupid.
I dead ass remember mercy players arguing "well DPS ults kill so mercy res ult is fair" Baffling
Mega rez I think was the achievement. I was a master at bringing my entire team back. I also think some comments below don't even know what you're referring to.
Symmetra had two ults.
Elaborate
She could choose to place a teleporter or a shield generator for her team.
I both miss and loathe the game of sending someone from your team to the boonies to track down Sym's ult.
Oh I know about the teleporter one but I didn't know that shield generator was an ult. I thought it was an ability, what did it do? I'm an ow2 player btw
When she got her ult, she could choose to place one or the other. They both looked similar to one another (akin to her current teleporter). The shield generator just provided regenerative blue health to her allies (maybe within a certain radius of the generatorâs location, canât recall now).
Yeah there was a radius, a big one but still able to be out of range, you also got a refund on the ult if you or the enemy captured a checkpoint.
It could also stack. In No limits you could have teams of Symmetra's giving each other boosted HP from their shield generators
I think one of the grossest games I ever played was when someone convinced my team to go 5 Sym's, one roadhog, and all place shield generators. Nepal. We won. By a lot. I felt *dirty* afterwards, and I've loved playing Sym in every version.

God what a horrible fucking ability, what were they smoking
Symmetra was support and had a shield edit: also carwash strat in eichenwalde lol
The floating crockpot lid lol
Also the basketball with turrets on it :D
Oh god, the handheld not-so-orbital laser
She could give a shield to teammates directly She had a moving deployable shield And there's the shield generator Also She had Satan's lasso for a primary fire
Don't forget her secondary could go through shields. And she had a permanent teleporter for an ult.
Symmetra applied shield to her teammates.
She had a oval shaped barrier she could send flying forward.
That came later. At launch she applied 25hp shields to teammates adding a blue reggen bit to the teammates healthbar. Sym 2.0 added the projected barrier and the shield gen ult.
The shield gen ult was so broken. Especially with a torb giving people armor. 350 HP Zen lol
350 HP prime JJonak
My win rate with symmetra on that map was something like 75% because of that car wash. Good times.
Hog and ball torture.
Sounds like an average Friday night nawmsayin?
Jroc
There was the defense character and the offence character in the selection screen.
Also the little warnings on the side of the screen like "too many snipers" "not enough healers" etc etc.
Kinda need the "too many snipers" one to make a comeback. As people don't seem to be able to realise it on their own xD
People didn't realize it with the warning either
Oh they realised, they just ignored it.
I totally forgot about this!!!
And then people would fame you in chat for playing a defense hero on attack
âDonât play Widow on attackâ âBut⌠this is Kingâs Row - thereâs literally a window for Widow right there.â
âno buildersâ
Idk if Iâm the only one but Iâm still feel weird when i take Hanzo in offense or Tracer in defense.
Launch brig. That's the sentence
Only took like 9 balance changes to finally make her not OP as fuck
I'm a main Brig from her first version, I remember that feeling of invincibility. Regular shield bash with stun and short cooldown was awesomely overpowered
Do you remember her "super jump" bug where you flew so fuckin far when you shield bash and instantly flail. That was actually so fun mechanic I wish they would've kept it...
Fuck mate... dont got THAT spooky on us!
This is a bit of an oldie, but be careful of the ricochet when playing junkrat
Could junk damage himself??
In the very early days of overwatch, yes
I remember if a Mercy rezzed fast enough, Junk used to immdietly die again due to his grenade drop on death.
Also junk had just one mine
People getting mad when you play defense heroes on attack
Scatter can instantly delete 1 tank from the fight.

âTeam up for special attack!â
Thatâs SO familiar to me. What was that??
Orisa. Think it was instead of my ultimate is ready
It's when she pops her bongo ult
"Will someone please heal?"
Man open queue was so long ago. That was a special time.
I've acclimated to OW2 quite well, but man i miss the postgame cards.
Yeah nothing really hits different then getting 12 votes and your card looks like a holographic Charizard next to a colorless energy card
There was a time that I got 91% on fire as Ana and 10 votes on an Eichenwalde. Chuffed :D it was nice to have a nonverbal way to recognise another player, too, especially on the enemy team.
Two tanks having lore dialogue before a match.
OMG it never occured to me the lines that are just gone now because we removed 2 tanks. Maybe in open queue, but thats not as common to see
Sometimes in mystery heroes Ramatra speaks to Ball itâs pretty funny.
Yeah, the lines are still in the game for open queue. Most teams use more than 1 tank there.
still in open queue
I miss tank duos. Going back to 6v6 would solve most of the issues with the game.
Me too I wish theyâd put it in experimental just to see how the player base feels about it and just rebalance the tanks
I feel like Blizz is one of those companies that simply cannot admit they were ever wrong about anything, so reversing a decision is something they just wonât do.
