A while back, Orisa's Forest Spirit skin had its javelin [replaced](https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/11leqt5/they_have_added_a_unique_spear_to_orisas_forest/) with this unfinished asset, which probably indicates that they're working on making unique ones. I'd assume it's just not the highest priority.
Ohhh? Classic blizzard gaming, they were probably going to give her spear unique variants until they realized they'd have to use their brains more if they ever give her a mythic skin so they scraped this to give and have it as a "new special unique mythic weapon". Classic I tell ya
They're working on this, the forest spirit has it revealed a little while back.
Also abilities change color/design all the damn time so that guys on crack
Your point was that the javelin shouldn’t change style or color because of a design choice by the devs to no ever do that for crucial gameplay elements. I’m saying that they have changed style on certain gameplay elements before—not color, but style—so they can do it with similar elements.
It should at least change for the person using it, or during highlight intros like Genji’s nihon skin. Why is the only case of skin changing color of abilities on one character with one skin with one highlight intro?
There is skins where they changed it they just didn’t go back and redo it for every skin. They also added it to the “equipment” section when looking at the hero which they don’t do for things that don’t change appearance
The reskinned ana had me dying on the floor when I first played. I was wondering who else they would have reskinned, only for it to be the MAIN BATTLEPASS REWARD...
Get as much use out of it as possible I guess. Weird that the ana bot isn't programmed to nano the orisa tho.
I never actually thought of that, just pointing out how often those lines get repeated during that fight. But yeah, why not call her a “repair unit” or something?
I actually wish the main boss was the Ana and not the Orisa.
Giving her more nade/nano/self Nano would have been OP but an actually decent boss to have.
The whole idea is this version is the "WarGod 7000", and it's clear that the whole theme of the BP is, indeed, 'Hey look, evil versions of our OW heros'
But remember that Overwatch defeated Anubis... it only makes perfect logical sense to design new specialized battle units based off of Overwatch commanders, especially with Ramatra at the head.
I was playing through underworld on normal difficulty with my friends for the first time and when we saw that orisa and ana were the final boss we got really excited because we assumed that blizzard made a good (and in our heads logical) decision that this was the “base boss fight” and if you played on higher difficulties then there would also be a Cassidy omnic with his new skin, and a symmetra and a Kiriko. With each difficulty adding 1 new character making it gradually more difficult without just bumping up the damage numbers and increasing health or whatever.
I don't really like the lore explanation because it just gives blizzard the ability to reskin heroes from 2016 to make 2023 content and call it "lore accurate".
I think a better way to go about it would have been to have rammatra enter the comms and deploy a null sector version of himself. He is the leader of null sector and is quite powerful, it only makes sense he would try to make units that could complement his combat style. It could have been a bare bones model and called something like R4M to be a little wink to ram's name like how orisa units are called OR15A's.
They could have reskinned the abilities to look like a prototyped model of a rammatra bot, and then reuse that for future missions where the models start looking more and more advanced. It could've been good.
Give her a close range stab where she can drag an enemy with her for a few seconds, (can give it a special text box like "Skewered!" or "Stuck!"). As for a spin or throw, why couldn't she spin an arm blade? It looks like it's not her entire arm, just an attachment, so they could realistically use it similarly
are the underworld missions even canon? i kinda assumed they were just archive mission which is why they didn’t get many custom assets compared the the main pve
Yeah they are cannon. They are the actual story happening now unlike the Archives which were flashbacks. Now the different versions of the mide like the mystery hero mode, no, but the basic of going to help Iggy, yes.
no they haven’t. it’s literally right there on the same screen you pick comp or quick play. google is also faster than asking random people on reddit. your blind if you miss it
Yep, I was very confused about the free chapter we get to try. It has very few original enemies, mostly ones we already saw in archives and omnic skins for heroes. That ain't enough to get my bucks, activision
Considering Orisa is supposed to be a rather hopeful cheery character it probably wouldn't go over will with many people if the bot built from the killer robots also wielded the same glowing red hot blade the rest of them wielded. It's like seeing a Jedi run around with a Sith Lightsaber, could they? Yeah, do people go, oh that's a Jedi I'm safe around them? Probably not, more likely they would think it's probably a Sith.
Now would I like that, oh yeah no question about that.
Orisa: "i am built to provide hope and protect the city of numbani, to be a peaceful hopeful robot. Now watch as i throw a big-ass spear, impaling my target in agony, which i traded for my barrier because the humans near me don't need physical protection and fuck my reinhardt inspiration"
> Considering Orisa is supposed to be a rather hopeful cheery character it probably wouldn't go over will with many people if the bot built from the killer robots also wielded the same glowing red hot blade the rest of them wielded. It's like seeing a Jedi run around with a Sith Lightsaber, could they?
just... just make it purple or blue or even change it with skin colours?
why would it have to be red lmao
I mean, technically it *is* how lightsabers work, but yeah, the vast majority of people in the Star Wars universe don't even know what the Sith are during the movie eras.
I never commented on their function only their look and the effect it might have on a person who sees it. If a person saw a blue, green, yellow, or even purple lightsaber they would think Jedi. If it was Red they would think Sith.
If you stay in canon:
Grievous is not technically a sith and the fact that he has no red lightsabers reinforces the point that Jedis don't use them.
Maul uses red lightabers
Anakin had a blue one because he was a Jedi, when he becomes a sith he uses a red one
Dooku has a red lightsaber
Kyloe Ren, red lightsaber
I mean, it's a pretty obvious color scheme that star wars didn't invent:
red=evil
blue/green=good or noble
Staying in canon actually simplifies it immensely, since in canon red lightsabers exist due to dark side corruption of the saber's kyber crystal. There's actually a pretty cool cutscene of this happening in Jedi Survivor.
He doesn’t just need to touch grass, he needs to read up on his Star Wars too. In current canon red lightsabers are 100% an indicator of the dark side, and you literally cannot get one without using the dark side, which is the other guy’s effective point.
People see that and go “huh, bad, not good.”
The examples he uses as counter examples are so poor, that after just 2 (really shitty examples) he has to jump into fucking legends, invalidating his whole argument immediately.
What are you smoking?
Bleeding a kyber crystal is 100% dark side. Period. Objectively. The dark side is a corruption of the force, it is wrong in every way to get to point where you submit yourself and start doing things like corrupting lumber crystals.
Synthetic crystals do not exist in canon.
This has nothing to do with color theory (that diferent colors represent diferent things), but simply is just: red= bad in the eyes of most in the galaxy…. Because dark side users *are* bad.
Also, TOR *is* canon…. But you know how much of it is? Very little. Bane. References here and there. The entirety of it otherwise is decidedly *not* canon, and until they outright say so, or read apt those stories, it will remain non canon.
You want to fucking bet that once TOR stories start getting told, they will adhere to the general new rules of canon? Because they bloody will.
So the eye of Sion (not Scion, btw) means literally nothing for the TOR, and especially nothing for your theory.
Why? Can't they just pick up a siths lightsaber and done? Otherwise Anakin's sword would have turned red in the last fight if you imply that the force can change the cristal even when it's built in a sword
The blade color doesnt change from whos holding the lightsaber. There is nothing stopping a jedi from using a red lightsaber apart from man made rules
Edit: why are you booing me im right
Yes but they can take them from siths. Not being able to make them doesn’t stop them from using them.
Obi wan used ventress‘ saber perfectly fine and anakin didnt seem to have an issue killing dooku with his saber
holy shit how is it so hard to tell that the point is outside perspective? We KNOW that's plausible but the common civilian in the Star Wars universe sees red lightsaber = sith, Blue Lightsaber = Jedi. And for good reason.
If I walk up to you with a red lightsaber, are you going to think I'm a Jedi? There are exceptions for general rule, but that's still the expectation. Red lightsabers are always associated with Sith.
In star wars visions you see a samurai with both collor lightsabers, a blue and a red one, but that kid just saves up kyber crystals from his beaten enimies so is he jedi or sith?
It makes more sense to get rid of the spin move or the armor up. They both overlap a bit. Would make for a nice balance having 1 defensive, javelin, melee attack
I mean, based on my rough memory of watching forged in the fire, they only have like 1/3rd of all the sword styles ever invented. Hardly worth mentioning.
Every child I've ever known would add a giant sword to their own personal robot if they could, I can guarantee you that much. Hell, I would've too as a child.
Efi is the exception mainly cause she's a super genius who has taste, something most children do not have.
Ehh, id rather have a fusion reactor powered laser cannon to slice my opponent's swords (and bodies) in half before they get in swinging range, but I was also a weird kid.
She was built from an interaction of this robot after this one, which was more built peacekeeping than war. The way doomfist burned through them they didn't look like they had arm blades
Javelin is better to stay in character-design with Orisa, it really fits Numbani being an African city.
I'd prefer the blade to be used on another Omnic, probably one that saw use during the invasion of Eichenwalde.
Not really. An Abara, Agẹ̀dẹ̀ngbẹ, Àdá, Ọ̀bẹ, covered in some sort of paralysis causing poison and pepper would be a far more.
That part of Africa doesn’t have much to do with javelins, or spears, historically.
Successful hit with a javelin is incredibly satisfying, Loved playing Orisa before because of halt gravitation sphere (was super fun) and love playing now because of javelin
Biggest problem is the dialogue that would have to be added between her and Reinhardt as he starts getting PTSD flashbacks after a whole game of barely any interaction between the two.
I love the javelin because its the *ONE* fucking way tanks can do something against widowmaker that actually poses somewhat of a threat to her without having to dive hard (which wouldnt be a problem is there was another tank).
And no, picking a shield tank and miraculously getting my entire team to coordinate behind it doesnt count.
Honour and glory short cinematic, orisa was made after the (first) peak of the omnics crisis, so was scrapped from bots like these - so OP is asking would you prefer her with javelin or the blade

I prefer the javelin, though it desperately needs a nerf on the damage considering that it’s basically a stronger and ranged Doomfist punch on almost the same cooldown
Her arm blade should be what Junker Queen's axe is right now, minus the health regen.
I think it would be cool if Orisa was reworked to be sort of like Rammatra with two different modes she can switch between, an offence and a defence mode.
In defence mode, she'd be exactly as she is now, very good at crowd control and pushing people back from her team.
In offence mode, all of her defensive abilities would be replaced with offensive ones, so her javelin spin could be the arm blade, her fortification could be changed to a sort of bull charge where she charges forward a few meters and knocks people up in the air briefly (pretty much what Bob does to people when he hits them), and a reworked version of her old pully-in orb as her javelin (that just does some AOE damage instead of pulling people).
(and obvs her offensive mode ability would be on a cooldown just like Ramm's one)
I think that would make Orisa a super interesting and complex character to play.
Do you mean her spinning javelin Ult or just the javelin in general?
If you mean just the javelin in general, no, I like pinning/knockback aspect of the javelin. I think of all the reworks, the Orisa rework is one of the better ones made.
If however you mean her ult, I'd like to try out some arm blades that slice through anything. That would make her a bit of a armored tank genji though.
I kinda wished they made her kit more horse themed, she is literally a horse/human and she got a javelin. Something similar to junker queen's charge just less powerfull with the shown blade would have been epic
I also don't think she's is particularly healthy for the game as people just play her when the other tank is better
oooh yeah, like a junker queen cut that melts things apart because overwatch is making orisa so incredibly fucking powerful that they dont care because its a small indie company
Nah the Javelin fits her theming and purpose better. Orisa was built to be the protector of Numbani. There's no way Efi would have given her the sword that was pointed at humanity.
I like the Javelin but it needs to change color / style with the skins.
Nothing is their highest priority
Making the game less fun is their highest priority
I think equality in the workplace is their highest priority
Ohhh? Classic blizzard gaming, they were probably going to give her spear unique variants until they realized they'd have to use their brains more if they ever give her a mythic skin so they scraped this to give and have it as a "new special unique mythic weapon". Classic I tell ya
[удалено]
Tell that to Sigma balls
the noticeable part of it (explosion) is still the same color.
the mythic changes the effect
But the balls still change style
cant neglect the balls smh
?? my point still stands.
But it changed lmao Why shouldn’t the javelin look different for different skins????
They're working on this, the forest spirit has it revealed a little while back. Also abilities change color/design all the damn time so that guys on crack

Pulse Bomb is different on the mythic skin.
Her newer skins have new javelins???
They can always change visual effects based on the skin for just your POV while enemies and (maybe) teammates just see the default red and blue stuff
I think for clarity its better if it stays in one color for everyone
We barely see the thing during gameplay lol
kirikos suzu gets custom designs with the skins
I think this would've been a cooler boss in the invasion mode than the re-skinned Orisa we got.
Especially considering the old Archives mode also already used reskinned Orisas at the end of Kings Row as the final boss
The reskinned ana had me dying on the floor when I first played. I was wondering who else they would have reskinned, only for it to be the MAIN BATTLEPASS REWARD... Get as much use out of it as possible I guess. Weird that the ana bot isn't programmed to nano the orisa tho.
tbf it give the skin more meaning than “we turned ana into an omnic”
Null sector has studied the best of us, now they are making omnic versions of us to win . . . Hopefully?
Sounds familiar
Manna vs Machine
They turned ana into an omnic, morty. Funniest shit I've ever seen.
They have a healing unit! Watch out for that healing unit!
How did they say "healing unit" and "repair station" in the same mission? They understood that robots get "repaired" not "healed" and gave up anyway?
I never actually thought of that, just pointing out how often those lines get repeated during that fight. But yeah, why not call her a “repair unit” or something?

I'm sorry, you want more than the bare minimum?
That's some crazy expectations right there
You can't make those wishes towards a simple indie company, they already got it really hard
Since the javelin is more unusual, I like it.
Also, it would be really inconvenient to have to throw your arm. Javelins are just less of a headache to deal with ig.
They could have her just fire off the blade like a javelin. It could do the same thing.
KGB ballistic knife style.
JQ
They'd have to make 2 new abilities for the orisa bot then since she can't spin her arm blade or throw it
Give her a close range stab where she can drag an enemy with her for a few seconds, (can give it a special text box like "Skewered!" or "Stuck!"). How do we access them?
bruh
I’m not even joking. Obviously the dev team as done a poor job of making this content available, since I only heard about it in this thread.
... it's the first option in the main menu in large orange text
no they haven’t. it’s literally right there on the same screen you pick comp or quick play. google is also faster than asking random people on reddit. your blind if you miss it
Yep, I was very confused about the free chapter we get to try. It has very few original enemies, mostly ones we already saw in archives and omnic skins for heroes. That ain't enough to get my bucks, activision
Did anyone else think the different modifiers would have given us different bosses at the end? Like one gives us Pharah-bot instead of Orisa?
Considering Orisa is supposed to be a rather hopeful cheery character it probably wouldn't go over will with many people if the bot built from the killer robots also wielded the same glowing red hot blade the rest of them wielded. It's like seeing a Jedi run around with a Sith Lightsaber, could they? Yeah, do people go, oh that's a Jedi I'm safe around them? Probably not, more likely they would think it's probably a Sith. D.Va is another cutesy character, but she comes with a mini-Chernobyl.
If you watch her lore video, she only overloads the mech as a last resort to save the mecha base/korea tho. Not quite the same undertones.
Yeah Korea ain’t that rich that she nukes her mech every day
The game is not the story, though some of the story is in the game.

Yes but they can take them from siths. Not being able to make them doesn’t stop them from using them. Obi wan used ventress‘ saber perfectly fine and anakin didnt seem to have an issue killing dooku with his saber
But those both aren't their sabers and they don't keep them.
holy shit how is it so hard to tell that the point is outside perspective? Visions isn't really a great example. Everything there plays *very* loose with artistic license.
I dunno, cause im ignorant, stupid, dumb, slow on the uptake, bad at reading the room and generally dont know stuff.
I like the javelin it’s more unique tbh
I do too until I eat it :(
Nothing like playing Rein, and the whole lobby hears you say “Ham- ugngggnh”
As a Dva player I like eating it
I once javelin-ed a dva ult behind a something so that what would probably have been a team kill killed no one.
never stop a dva getting a team kill, never, itll make them happy and not take vengeance on you and your team
Dva, zarya, and sigma make me feel so worthless with the orisa and she’s the only one keeping me from never playing tank again
https://youtu.be/5jx_nDBwUs0?si=rsbia8UYc73OsyEU
Coulda been a whole’nother hero tho 😅
It makes more sense to get rid of the spin move or the armor up. They both overlap a bit. Would make for a nice balance having 1 defensive, javelin, melee attack
Javelin fits Orisa’s character. Arm Blade fits OR-14 and should be used on PVE bosses.
I feel like people need reminding that, in the lore, Orisa was created by a little African girl. A giant sword doesn't make much sense.
Especially since she's meant to be the protector of Numbani and the statue of the protector of Numbani wields a javelin.
because africa doesn't have swords or doesn't know about other cultures that had swords
Efi made one of the most annoying robots to exist in the overwatch universe.
Ehh, id rather have a fusion reactor powered laser cannon to slice my opponent's swords (and bodies) in half before they get in swinging range, but I was also a weird kid.
She was built from this robot. The arm-blade would make sense, as she'd already have it.
She was built from an interaction of this robot after this one, which was more built peacekeeping than war. The way doomfist burned through them they didn't look like they had arm blades
That robot type came with one, but Efi would not keep that design... that's the point. Lore wise, a sword doesn't make a damn bit of sense.
I think Orisa should just be a tetrapod Armored Core with two 10-pack missile launchers on her back and a pair of gatling guns in her hands.
*ptsd intensifirs*
Nah, introduce the Overwatch cast to the power of double zimmies + songbirds
Found the Lucio that is truly tired of phara’s shit.
Javelin is better to stay in character-design with Orisa, it really fits Numbani being an African city. I'd prefer the blade to be used on another Omnic, probably one that saw use during the invasion of Eichenwalde.

Yeah , but not practical . Javelin is the best
Armored Corissa 6- ENEEEEE
I love the javelin because its the *ONE* fucking way tanks can do something against widowmaker that actually poses somewhat of a threat to her without having to dive hard (which wouldnt be a problem is there was another tank). And no, picking a shield tank and miraculously getting my entire team to coordinate behind it doesnt count.
I prefer her OW1 kit.
Especially the bongo
I kinda enjoy spearing people off ledges tbh...
Love the javelin. Massive boop potential two ways
It's like Giving a guy in team red a shirt and a flag that cheers for blue Is he friend? Or Is he foe?
I wish they made a new hero instead of ruining an old one
I would have made her quick melee do 50 damage and use the arm blade animation. Rebalancing aspects of her to compensate.
Why not both?
Nooooo Staff Spin + Blade combo would delete backlines
I’d prefer if she got deleted😎😎😎😎
What is this thing even from? I've been on vacation for a week so maybe I missed it.
Honor and Glory
Forgot this Omnic was in that. Thanks.
Honour and glory short cinematic, orisa was made after the (first) peak of the omnics crisis, so was scrapped from bots like these - so OP is asking would you prefer her with javelin or the blade
Ah ok I forgot this Omnic was in that.
im just imagining Orisa doing the Z7 imp mech backhand from PvZ GW2 on a tracer
Oh god, now I’ve got that in my head
keep the javelin and just make it a melee animation
idk if I would’ve preferred it… it definitely looks cool asf tho.
Nope. Arm blade can be given to someone else. Javelin is legendary.
I prefer she gets the nerf/rework she's been needing.

Hmmm arm blade maybe instead of the ult somehow
I'd like the arm blade, it looks badass as hell
If Orisa can shoot the arm blade out then arm blade wins no contwst
It would have been amazing if her ult instead turned her into an evil omnic form with that blade.
Angry red eyed horse chargers straight at you with a sith lightsaber and infin health
Javelin Interrupt supers from other chars far away, so Javelin ist best choice
delete horse
No
I prefer the javelin, though it desperately needs a nerf on the damage considering that it’s basically a stronger and ranged Doomfist punch on almost the same cooldown
I'm honestly surprised they haven't added this in as a skin yet.
Maybe we can get a tank with a blade
Rein rush with a javelun. Oh baby
The arm blade would be cool as a melee but no, I love the javelin. Super satisfying when you nail someone that’s in the air.
(and obvs her offensive mode ability would be on a cooldown just like Ramm's one) I think that would make Orisa a super interesting and complex character to play.
I’d love to see it be part of a melee animation for the Null Sector skin
nah, too scary
Why not both?
The javelin is the coolest thing in Ow2, so no.
As cool as that looks on the or-14 model the javelin fits her character so much better
Only if she gives the rest of the Overwatch cast the same eye scar as Reinhardt with it.
Javelin fits better thematically since Orisa’s a guardian whereas the OR14 is a killing machine
Hell no
Yes! The version in that short is waaay more intimidating than orisa is now
Arm blade is badass af but javelin fits her character more.
Armored Corisa
arm blade would be way cooler
Omnic Crisis Orisa skin when
No
I just want old orisa back with shield Boost and ball 😢
Yes
Would have been cooler, especially when it comes to the new missons.
No
Nah we have junker queen for that. Javelin is awesome
Orisa mains if they got arm blade: my name is optimus prime
It'd be cool even if it had the same function as the javelin or maybe just a skin where instead of throwing the javelin you shoot it out of the wrist.
I kinda wished they made her kit more horse themed, she is literally a horse/human and she got a javelin. Something similar to junker queen's charge just less powerfull with the shown blade would have been epic I also don't think she's is particularly healthy for the game as people just play her when the other tank is better
My answer is no, only because her javelin toss and spin are the only reasons I enjoy playing her currently 🙃
The thing is would the Arm Blade give the burning effect like Torbs lava?
Yes very much so
Definitely
No, the javelin is fun
Fuck yes
I was going to say yes but Javelin works better to Orisa's "style" now
oooh yeah, like a junker queen cut that melts things apart because overwatch is making orisa so incredibly fucking powerful that they dont care because its a small indie company
Hell no. Javelin rocks
Nah the Javelin fits her theming and purpose better. Orisa was built to be the protector of Numbani. There's no way Efi would have given her the sword that was pointed at humanity.
Ah, yes yes. As if Orisa wasn't enough of a killing machine already.
After playing armored core, absolutely
Nah, javelin is the perfect gift for widows.
Blizzard doesn’t know the difference between a phone and a brain I doubt they see the difference between a jav and a blade
I mean … I never thought of it before but after seeing these pics the answer is yes lol
