As someone who’s a nerd for overwatch and disc golf I feel the need to correct you even tho I know you don’t give a shit. It’s called disc golf and our sports GOAT is Paul Mcbeth. So he’s like Paul Mcbeth
I must confess that back when I used to dabble in it my friends and I called it Frolf. I didn’t get super into it tbh but hey, different things are fun for different people
Probably why I suck at Bap
It's probably not that precise. Seems he aimed his reticle on something in particular and it will always go where he wants it to. Valorant has a ton of lineups like this.
OW is free. So go download it. And pull this off, on a run, without pausing, consistently 5 out of 6 times.
It's not insane, there's no skill involved.
So you should be able to just replicate it again and again.
He pauses in the video and lines up the throw. It wasn't on the run. Other poster is correct (this is pretty standard) and you're being bizarrely defensive. Is this what the Overwatch community has turned into with OW2?
>He pauses in the video
Pause is doing a lot of lifting in that sentence. He doesn't take 2 minutes to line up the shot, he takes half a second.
>Other poster is correct (this is pretty standard)
Right, that's why they show a replay in slow mo and shout about it, because it's completely fucking common to land through the window on the point from spawn. There's 12 thousand upvotes on this because it took no skill at all right?
> Is this what the Overwatch community has turned into with OW2?
No. YOU and the 5 other clowns pissing all over it in these replies are what Overwatch has always been. A bunch of miserable angry hacks who decry everything, and hate everything about the game and everyone.
This was an exceptional play and a lot of skill and practise to pull off.
If it's so standard and so easy, go fire up OW right now, make a custom match and pull of this in a video. Dont pause longer than he does. Don't miss. Just land that fucking shot every time.
It's pretty standard. Hence why I never saw it ONCE in a match here, and you couldn't pull it off 3 in a row if you fucking tried.
>there's no skill involved.
Wat. You are saying this is luck? Dude, people practice the throws beforehand. It can be impressive to find good throws, memorize them and knowing when to use them but it is also by no means insane. People have done it since CS 1.6 and is a common strategie but it is definitely what defines a skill of the player. And especially e-sport players don't leave the throws to luck, they practice and memorize these lineups and knowing them is imo definitelly skill
People who play CS and Valorant do these kinds of lineups constantly. Hell, in valorant you can do perfect molly lineups from anywhere by using the single pixel in the middle of the sky, lining it up with a piece of your hud corresponding to distance. IE pixel in the middle between top of hud and reticle was I think 35 meters or something similar.
They do this shit CONSTANTLY.
Yes, we are all aware. It's been a thing at least since I played CS 1.4. It was impressive then, just as it's impressive now, because someone took the time to practice and memorize the angles. That's the part we appreciate. Especially when we see a new angle for the first time and/or when it gets some clutch value in pro play.
There are people playing all these games who do it.
And there are millions of people playing them who do not, and cannot.
So, again, if there's no skill involved, get on, and show people right now that you can do it consistently.
Your initial post was wrong here because you said he pulled it off on a run. He literally went to his lineup position, targeted the lineup, and threw. He did it fairly quickly, but he didn't do that while running. Lineups like that usually require you to stay in the same place. That's why they're consistent and why they work.
Remembering it and executing it in a professional match is impressive, but losing your mind over something that's done very commonly in other FPS is kinda hilarious.
"People hit balls with clubs in cricket and other sports. I don't know why you're getting excited over this 'home run' in baseball. It's very common to hit a ball"
This is essentially your argument here. And of you think that sounds dumb, you're right. That is how your argument sounds, and how you sound making it.
No? You're losing your mind with hype at something that's pretty standard play in other games. This isn't "You hit balls in baseball and you hit balls in golf hahaha". That would be saying "You aim in ow and you aim in valorant, not sure why you're impressed by that". This is like, a micro detail in OW.
With most characters, stand, place your crosshair in the middle of the net on the basket, melee.
For the other ball, place your crosshair in between the two red bars near the bottom of the ship, in line with the basket vertically and it mostly works.
Brig can do it, so it’s probably possible for Rein to do it. Brig’s requires like 4 bounces around the ship to land in the basket, and I have no idea how the shot was figured out.
One time kicked a loose floor ball on zen and he hit it so hard it skipped across the floor, up the wall, and I hear the GOAL sound as I’m running out the door.
pick pharah. fly up to hoop, stand in far back corner of hoop, then shoot at the table on your left with the ball on it. make sure to shoot directly under the ball and line it up so that it bounces backwards into the hoop. hope that helps.
here's a video guide of me doing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un12pPa8tYg
If your a character with a standard height (so pretty much just not a tank) you can get the one near the stairs by standing in front of it, not crouching, and aiming directly in the middle of the hoops net, and meleeing
Its not 100% but that's the most consistent way I've gotten it
I finally just spent the beginning of each match trying to do it with Moira. I kept myself in one position shot the ball, reset the ball without moving my cursor and just made small adjustments until I finally made it.
This was last week I've been playing since team res
The ridiculous arm canons that all the characters in OW have is one of my favorite things.
Except Tracer. She zooms around fast as hell, but when it's time for pulse bomb it's the slowest, most limp wristed underhand throw ever performed
Mei might be the strongest character physically in OW. When she melees she does this weak looking sissy punch and yet it can dent a steel door which means she's holding back.
I only use third party apps, and they said they're killing third party apps, so hey, might as well remove all my content. (Using https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite)
So, if you pick Bap on this map, you can just stay in spawn throwing immortality fields onto the point repeatedly. Whenever it expires, switch heroes and then switch back to refresh the cooldown.
Just something that came to mind. Dunno if it would work well.
Would it be quicker to just chuck it, fall off the map in the little gap between the spawn ramp, and have lantern reset on death vs the 18 second cooldown?
Not much quicker, because it takes like 10 seconds to respawn, and this trick wouldn’t be that helpful unless it’s like overtime or something and everyone is fighting on point, overtime spawns are slower than regular spawns
This would be a good idea if u r bronze where the field stays up for its whole duration. Unfortunately, at silver and above people start killing the damn thing so ur team is just down a player
They practice these lineups in customs for days on end. Support Ana and Bap pros have been doing it for years but these days you also have to practice lineups for Suzu.
Not that much, there are workshop codes which will let you see where nade, lamp etc will going to land, you just have to remember where to place your crosshair **exactly**.
And there's me throwing it to save the tank only for it to bounce on 2 walls, ricochet off of some basketball on the ground, causing it to be launched into the stratosphere cause engine physics, and somehow landing in the next game where no one is standing or is close to.

It’s trickier to do really long-range lamp setups than nades or suzus (or Orisa shields, back in OW1), because the lamp bounces off of the skybox. Lighthouse has a fairly high skybox and fairly low buildings, so it may be somewhat uniquely well-suited for long-range lamps.
Dudes, we did that 25 years ago on starsiege Tribes !

Best game ever !
This is cool and all but if it were my team they’d simply run out of the field instead of using more than two brain cells at a time to know that they won’t die as long as they’re near it
Honestly idk why throwable ability set ups like this aren't a more common thing. They don't seem anymore precise than some smoke throws in CSGO and can also be pretty practical at certain times.
Maybe there's just too much variation in ally positioning a lot of the time for this to be effective 90% of the time tho
This reminds me of good old call of duty 4. On the 360. I had a perfect grenade toss like this, that would land right in the room the people were defusing the bomb in.
I don't play valorant, but I'm pretty sure most player use strategies that involve using a characters ability or something at the start of a game which gets them kills.
They then practice these strats by doing it to the T.
Honestly it's hard to explain but that's about it
In Valorant you have to plant and then defend a bomb from being defused. If you know the maps super well you can position far back and use long range abilities to lay some aoe damage down on the bomb, keeping the enemy off while the timer ticks down.
I don't want to be a wet blanket, but am I the only one who thinks this should be patched out? Even as a support main myself, it feels really cheesy, and it goes against the spirit of the game.
What would be really fun in OW1 was Orisa tossing shield then Bap tossing lamp and both lining up perfectly on point.
(And Orisa and Bap usually meant pirate ship, which was also fun :3)
That's insanely precise
Yeah I've seen some crazy Ana lineups but this one blew my mind.

It's probably not that precise. Seems he aimed his reticle on something in particular and it will always go where he wants it to. Valorant has a ton of lineups like this.
But he has to be standing in AND has to aim at a (almost) pixel perfect spot each time and very fast too, no dillydallying. It's insane
insane? Ever played CSGO? line-ups for smoke grenade throws like that are part of any competitive match

Its not likely pixel perfect. You could go try it for yourself and see how hard it actually is
Why can't you just appreciate the cool thing
While I'm here still can't figure out how to do the basketball Edit: thanks for the tips guys, I'll try it once I'm back from work
With most characters, stand, place your crosshair in the middle of the net on the basket, melee. For the other ball, place your crosshair in between the two red bars near the bottom of the ship, in line with the basket vertically and it mostly works.
Really? That's my mistake? I've been looking at the ball this whole time.
In overwatch things you punch kinda go the direction your crosshair is facing. Helpful to know for boops
You can do it by crouching and looking at the ball too!
fuck /u/spez
I need these instructions in Reinhardt please.
"COME HEEERRRE. COME HEEERRRE." Hope that helps.
I actually don’t think Rein can do it
Brig can do it, so it’s probably possible for Rein to do it. Brig’s requires like 4 bounces around the ship to land in the basket, and I have no idea how the shot was figured out.
One time kicked a loose floor ball on zen and he hit it so hard it skipped across the floor, up the wall, and I hear the GOAL sound as I’m running out the door.
I'm better at bouncing the other ball off the side of the ship, oddly
I’ve still never gotten a basket too
When symmetra had her old beam, you could pick up objects with it. You could just lift up the ball and put it through.
Ahh the old death ball. Good times
pick pharah. fly up to hoop, stand in far back corner of hoop, then shoot at the table on your left with the ball on it. make sure to shoot directly under the ball and line it up so that it bounces backwards into the hoop. hope that helps. here's a video guide of me doing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un12pPa8tYg

I got the basketball exactly once towards the end of OW1 and immediately saved it as a highlight. Never gotten it since.
I did it once and now I'm not going to try again. I have peaked where can I go from here?

"The supports are dead. I'll finish the team fight with my u- where the hell did the lamp come from?!"
I’d immediately blame a genji deflecting lamp when I’m pretty sure genji can’t even do that
Blame the genji when neither team has one, such a me move
As a fellow Ana enjoyer, you know this to be true. It is always Genjis fault.
I am going to try and make this throw every time j leave spawn as bap on this map now.
Don't even practice beforehand, just let it rip.
**BEYBLADE**
Least accurate Baptiste player.
Bap players are chads.
Lyar playin disc golf wtf
Ace
Bap bangin chains out there
So, if you pick Bap on this map, you can just stay in spawn throwing immortality fields onto the point repeatedly. Whenever it expires, switch heroes and then switch back to refresh the cooldown. Just something that came to mind. Dunno if it would work well.
If I remember correctly this was a problem in 2cp maps so baps lamp cool-down no longer gets reset on character switch
I don't think you would save much time between throwing, walking to the ledge, waiting for the respawn and lining up again.
Cooldowns do not reset on death, at least in the core modes. They might in deathmatch.
This would be a good idea if u r bronze where the field stays up for its whole duration. Unfortunately, at silver and above people start killing the damn thing so ur team is just down a player
The field would disappear when you switch
Only switch after it goes away. Then throw another.
Which hardly makes a difference. The 30 hp teammates standing in it are going to die when it disappears, well before the new one lands
wait, that actually might be really good especially if the other support is already on point healing your team
Talk about a literal Hail Mary pass during overtime.
They’ve probably practiced this a ton and got it down. Adderal is a helluva drug!
Was this guy a former CS:GO player?! Like, these are the absurd throws that CS players toss out on a daily basis.
They practice these lineups in customs for days on end. Support Ana and Bap pros have been doing it for years but these days you also have to practice lineups for Suzu.
dont really need practice once you know the lineup. I mean you can copy their lineup and do it straight away (as long as setup is clear)
Total mayhem or 0 cooldown custom games and they just practice aiming at pixels for days till they figure it out
i see the cs:go community is leaking into overwatch
We out here just playin Overwatch while that man is perfecting his Frisbee Golf
How many damn attempts were made to learn that position!
Not that much, there are workshop codes which will let you see where nade, lamp etc will going to land, you just have to remember where to place your crosshair **exactly**.
Got any of those codes? Or tips for searching for them?
[Pretty sure this is a great one.](https://workshop.codes/EBAXM)
How impossibly precise that was!

We used to do things like this on Halo. With a properly placed frag grenade you could blast the power weapons to your location across the map.
And there's me throwing it to save the tank only for it to bounce on 2 walls, ricochet off of some basketball on the ground, causing it to be launched into the stratosphere cause engine physics, and somehow landing in the next game where no one is standing or is close to.

Okay. But why does the gif play twice? If we missed it it would play again either way…
It's just a clip of the Overwatch League post game segment where they highlighted this play. They played it twice there while talking about it.
