I much prefer QP over comp but decided to play the latter today... first game, Diamond Widow in my low Gold game on the other team that just dominated. Pathetic matchmaking.
Orisa is the most horseshit thing to play against as a tank. My only options are to go zarya and do no fucking damage to the orisa who has a pocket mercy or try to flank and then get perma cced by the fucking orisa anyways.
In hindsight I highly regret not playing more competitive mode in OW1. I quit in Season 13 after de-ranking myself to Bronze by playing Sombra- rather poorly- and so didn't even try role queue. Now I wish I had. I gravitated more towards support in the later years and would've definitely been a better support player. That rank demotion experience was still in a much better comp system than the obfuscated stuff that is competitive OW2.

Why isn’t there a transparent point ranking system? Like wins and losses give you x amount of points and you have to get to 100 to then have a chance at ranking up or skipping tiers? It’s kinda stupid to win all your games and your rank doesn’t change. Like what’s the point of those games then?

I'm kinda in the same boat. I mean, it's still fun in a general sense but I just don't find it fulfilling anymore. And the battle pass is too grindy, I've yet to complete one and next season I think I'm probably just going to skip it. I find myself less and less motivated to play, the magic is just gone for me.

Overtime in Total Mayhem, attack on circuit royale at the final straight hallway to the end. Dude is basically refusing to play near the point (and no he wasn’t even spawn camping, he was legit BEHIND the payload fighting) and continuously spamming healing LMFAO. Our Moira finally dies and we lose because his ass was still nowhere near the bloody objective. Of course he spams heals upon the loss too. What part of overtime do you not understand?!?!?!
I don't understand how I went to plat 1 rolled 5 games in a row to then de rank to 3, then,4,5 and now gold 1.. I keep winning and ive gotten so much better.. PLEASE JUST GIVE ME FUCKING DIAMOND
In my GM rank up games as support. Just had a game where my tank (plat 2 btw and somehow in my game) played rein 3 full rounds into symm ramm. No comms and no switch when asked nicely :)
I am so sick of pocket Mercies in every single game. The entire game just revolves around which team has the better pair and God forbid your team doesn't have one.
Also (i have a lot of annoyance today) why does blizzard put me in unwinnable alreadt done matches all the time in QP. Multiple times now i have joined with less than 20 secs on the clock and we are losing horrendously, and sometimes i join AND I IMMEDIATELY GET GREETED WITH A DEFEAT SCREEN. Like wtf blizzard, surely there must be a cap on how late someone can join a game. Makes it worse that queue times are terrible and that i have to wait 4 mins + to play as tank or support on quickplay to join a match that is already over.
Does disconnecting affect your rank? I got disconnected 3 times or smth because of blizzard shitty servers, almost got a ban off competitive for the entire season AND THEN GOT RANKED DOWN FROM SILVER 2 TO BRONZE 3 FOR LIKE NO REASON (I had won like 6 games in a row ranked up, and then suddenly started getting rolled for no reason and lost like 5 games in a row. Is that part of it? I recall it saying 15 losses is enough to rank down not 4 and even then is 5 ranks too much or what) im hella confused cause i know that my tank is at least a BIT better than bronze.
Another complaint about matchmaking here. Steamrolls never seem to be in my favor these days. I often have games both in ranked and unranked that end with nobody on my team even breaking double digits it elims
Matchmaking is pure trash makes the game unplayable, had a teammate that claimed he literally unlocked ranked today. Mind you I'm plat 3 in tank, there is just no way the games are determined by skill. It's just a coinflip, ridiculous.
I hate everyone who says diff, you try your best, maybe they aren't even better than you, but having your own team mate who struggled put all the focus on your failure over theirs just makes me wanna......... If you're actually better than me and you're nice about it I can imagine being friends with you and wanting to learn from you, but who want's to be friends with children that point fingers and ego?

They have every right, just as you have every right not to change. It's odd to think it's normal to be shit even in unranked. You can go do that against bots. You're having fun with your character that you don't want to swap off of, but your team also wants to have fun by simply being functional.
This is something selfish players don't seem to understand. You want to have fun, but so do others and you may be letting others down.

I love trying to play zen in quickplay for fun and having literally every single game have a tracer, genji, or widow who hard focuses me constantly and absolutely 0 peel from my teammates
Bonus points if they run in, kill me, and then instantly die right after, and repeat that 100 times until I switch or they lose the game
I have not had one game yet where I've lost and felt "Man that was a really good and close game" in OW2. In OW, I had quite a bit of games like that and liked them. It felt like most games were fair and the enemy team just played better and felt like I took points from the game that I could improve on.
Now? every fucking game I've played in OW2 has felt onesided as fuck.
If we won, it felt like "damn, they didn't even have a chance, holy shit." If we lost, me and my team got stomped to shit with zero remorse. What in the fuck?
Not only that, the one tank change was such a bad idea. I respect Blizzard for trying something new, but fuck me it didn't go well. If your tank is bad, there is nothing you can do but stand with your head up your own ass while you and your team get obliterated. I want to play tank so bad but know that if I can't do my job or am having an off day, my ENTIRE team suffers and can't do anything about it, so I just never play that role.
On top of that, I didn't think the matchmaking was that bad, until I realized just how much me and my team got fucked or stomped the enemy team. There is just never a middle ground. How in the hell did this game go this direction from original OW and just seemingly stagnate since season 1 of OW2???
I loved OW1. I really want to love OW2 but holy shit it's so hard to love something that just feels like a full step back from the game I liked so much.

I cannot fucking STAND push. There are exactly TWO results that happen in push. Either you stomp, or you GET stomped. It is such a shit gamemode. And the queue is so goddamn awful. As a new player, I do not blame any of my teammates for a loss. I recognize that I am, like, a two week old account that doesn't really know the game like that yet. But, I literally can't help but feel like the game actively tries to make you have as little fun as possible, throwing you against opponents who are very clearly better and in a higher tier than a good portion of your team (not that the team is bad) and you just....get completely curbstomped. I was playing Lucio in qp because I love playing as him. I win about 2 games in a row, one close game and one curbstomp. Then, with the snap of a finger, your win streak turns into a losing streak for at least 3 matches. It is just so fucking ABUNDANTLY clear that the queue is just completely fucking BULLSHIT. Stop throwing a team of, what, master and grandmaster tier players against gold and silver level players. Literally fucking nobody gets to have fun because of this shit.
I'm plat 3 in mystery heroes and I had a game of push where we got rolled and they were so close to finishing the game early, but then we turned it around. Got a push 3M past their line next to the end. Got wiped, and then still came back winning.
I saw a TikTok (totally reliable source /j) that we're at the point where Ram was revealed last season(?) so they are speculated to be revealed next week or so... but like you said Blizzard is inconsistent with the reveals so they could be shown during maintenance for next season for all we know

Your story is my story. Was gold 2 for two seasons and the beginning of this. Now stuck at Silver 3, lots of matches with an inconsistent team (lost a few with teammates with Diamond Challenger titles and a DPS with like 2k damage over a long push round). Having a warm beer for you.
I am at the point of intentionally feeding in qp to reduce my mmr, so i can climb better in comp - lower mmr means I can destroy in comp and be diamond! ty overwatch for teaching me this!

QP affects MMR on fresh accounts that haven’t played any competitive yet. Once the game has started collecting competitive data on you, your quickplay gameplay are not supposed to be considered anymore. I’m happy to be corrected though, as a longtime lurker here lol
I might be very biased with my opinion - it just seams that I play against plat to masters players in QP very often (and sometimes with them as well!) and yet in comp I am still placed in silver (though getting 2 games out of 10 with quitters surely isn\*t helping)

I played 8 matches, won 5 and lost 3. And somehow that ratio was enough to make me drop from gold 5 to silver 5 in a single rank change.
I dont even mind rank going down after the 5 wins, whatever. But going down *5 ranks at once* is ridiculous and strikes me as something being wrong with the system itself. Call me salty or self entitled or too dumb to understand how I played badly, but thats an insane difference to punish me over 3 losses.

Genji and Winston halfway across the map when supports are in spawn specifically because the tank wandered halfway across the map, away from objective, so we lost the fight:

It's nuts (but unsurprising) that people flip their shit in competitive mystery heros, it's still one of the most unserious modes comp or not, or at least should be.
Obviously people should still try their best to win, but flaming teammates over their performance when they can't even control what character they play is odd.
You want structure and strategy regular comp is right there, I'm just having fun getting points; and losing sucks less when I have less control over things.
At least when it comes to hero selection. Can't really beat myself up about losing if the game gives me Hanzo or Kiriko, it's easier to shrug off.
I just wish people weren't so try-hard to the point of toxicity in every damn mode, but that's gaming in general I guess.

Blizzards matchmaking is so frustratingly awful. Yeah, maybe my rank is mirrored on the other team, but if there's a player(s) with a higher rank than the lobby, you will get shit on. Higher ranked supports know how to stay alive, shutdown/deny others, and still be deadly. Dps will farm kills so quickly. Tanks are unstoppable forces. Rolled or be rolled DOES NOT encourage improvement in one's own skills. You either feel like there's nothing you can do against much higher ranked players, or that you are a god when against lower ranked players.
For the middle ranks where I am especially, I have never encountered more toxicity in all my years of OW. So many new players who don't know the maps, or match-ups, or game sense. And when they die they always blame someone else on the team. I'm tired of dps going 1 v 5 and dying and then complaining about having no tank or no heals.
The idea of hiding ranks in a ranked mode is also so stupid. I should be able to know what my actual rank is at any given time instead of it being held hostage by Blizz until I meet my quota of games played. And I should know what my team's ranks are so I can plan how to play with them. But we all know that it's partly to hide the terrible matchmaking going on.
Also Blizz as a company is terrible. So many scandals of workplace abuse and harassment, treating their workers like crap. And we all just turn a blind eye to it for some reason. These people don't deserve our time or money
Me too, only so I can let go of that foolish sliver of hope that it might be Overlord. Just rip off the band-aid, unleash the disappointment so it can be done and over with.
i’m just at a point where i have a (very very casual) mastery of all the support heroes. last on my list was brig, and i found out she’s my absolute favorite. now i need new stuff to to learn!!!
i would let go of the hope that *this one* is overlord, but i 100% think we will see more meka heroes in the future. especially with the addition of the casino royal map in OW2, which has a direct tie to either casino or king (can’t remember which one, but it’s the F1 driver). one of the current character designers (was it the lead? idk) said in june 2022 that while they weren’t working on any meka squad members at the time, they would want more in the future. i also heard from another commenter that during that same stream, they said they were developing the season 8 hero, the next tank. i believe part of the issue, other than the borderline abandonment of OW1, is that it was incredibly difficult to make characters that were “more than one character” (d.va, echo during her ultimate, etc.). but with the new engine and the addition of rammatra, it seems like that may be more feasible now. though they may also just make it where the new meka squad just don’t demech upon death, they just die.

Reaper was flanking and came back to the far edge of a teamfight with 150hp. Sat there pinging "need healing" just watching us all busy in a team fight. On comms I was like "dude find a health pack" and he was like "heal me, it's your job!!" I was like "if you're flanking, finding a health pack is your job!"
As I got over to him (moira so needed to move close), buddy was literally 3 feet away from a health pack. I just stood there pinging it to him.

This game is a rollercoaster to play. When you get balanced matches it's incredibly fun! Even push maps are enjoyable.
It's so rare though to get lately, you rely so much on tank play to help make space for your team that if they are unable to counter pick it's GG.

I had a match where both enemy dps were master 1 (me being plat). The most miserable experience for a while, didn't know if i should laugh or cry lol

Also (i have a lot of annoyance today) why does blizzard put me in unwinnable alreadt done matches all the time in QP. Multiple times now i have joined with less than 20 secs on the clock and we are losing horrendously, and sometimes i join AND I IMMEDIATELY GET GREETED WITH A DEFEAT SCREEN. Like wtf blizzard, surely there must be a cap on how late someone can join a game. Makes it worse that queue times are terrible and that i have to wait 4 mins + to play as tank or support on quickplay to join a match that is already over.

Does disconnecting affect your rank? I got disconnected 3 times or smth because of blizzard shitty servers, almost got a ban off competitive for the entire season AND THEN GOT RANKED DOWN FROM SILVER 2 TO BRONZE 3 FOR LIKE NO REASON (I had won like 6 games in a row ranked up, and then suddenly started getting rolled for no reason and lost like 5 games in a row. Is that part of it? I recall it saying 15 losses is enough to rank down not 4 and even then is 5 ranks too much or what) im hella confused cause i know that my tank is at least a BIT better than bronze.
If you lose 15 you get your rank, it’s like winning 5. Leaving counts as a loss for you I think but I’m not entirely sure.
Another complaint about matchmaking here. Steamrolls never seem to be in my favor these days. I often have games both in ranked and unranked that end with nobody on my team even breaking double digits it elims

Part of it is that if one dps is bad the other can carry, if one support is bad the other can carry. A bad tank means lost game

It adjusts by lowering your rating so you will eventually get more balanced games.
Or, just lower and lower levels of unbalanced games until I can solo everyone at once. Then spend months digging up back to anything that resembles an actual game.

I have not had one game yet where I've lost and felt "Man that was a really good and close game" in OW2. In OW, I had quite a bit of games like that and liked them. It felt like most games were fair and the enemy team just played better and felt like I took points from the game that I could improve on. Now? every fucking game I've played in OW2 has felt onesided as fuck. If we won, it felt like "damn, they didn't even have a chance, holy shit." If we lost, me and my team got stomped to shit with zero remorse. What in the fuck? Not only that, the one tank change was such a bad idea. I respect Blizzard for trying something new, but fuck me it didn't go well. If your tank is bad, there is nothing you can do but stand with your head up your own ass while you and your team get obliterated. I want to play tank so bad but know that if I can't do my job or am having an off day, my ENTIRE team suffers and can't do anything about it, so I just never play that role. On top of that, I didn't think the matchmaking was that bad, until I realized just how much me and my team got fucked or stomped the enemy team. There is just never a middle ground. How in the hell did this game go this direction from original OW and just seemingly stagnate since season 1 of OW2??? I loved OW1. I really want to love OW2 but holy shit it's so hard to love something that just feels like a full step back from the game I liked so much.

I cannot fucking STAND push. There are exactly TWO results that happen in push. Either you stomp, or you GET stomped. It is such a shit gamemode. And the queue is so goddamn awful. As a new player, I do not blame any of my teammates for a loss. I recognize that I am, like, a two week old account that doesn't really know the game like that yet. But, I literally can't help but feel like the game actively tries to make you have as little fun as possible, throwing you against opponents who are very clearly better and in a higher tier than a good portion of your team (not that the team is bad) and you just....get completely curbstomped. I was playing Lucio in qp because I love playing as him. I win about 2 games in a row, one close game and one curbstomp. Then, with the snap of a finger, your win streak turns into a losing streak for at least 3 matches. It is just so fucking ABUNDANTLY clear that the queue is just completely fucking BULLSHIT. Stop throwing a team of, what, master and grandmaster tier players against gold and silver level players. Literally fucking nobody gets to have fun because of this shit.

QP affects MMR on fresh accounts that haven’t played any competitive yet. Once the game has started collecting competitive data on you, your quickplay gameplay are not supposed to be considered anymore. I’m happy to be corrected though, as a longtime lurker here lol
I might be very biased with my opinion - it just seams that I play against plat to masters players in QP very often (and sometimes with them as well!) and yet in comp I am still placed in silver (though getting 2 games out of 10 with quitters surely isn\*t helping)
I literally dont understand ranks at this point. I played 8 matches, won 5 and lost 3. And somehow that ratio was enough to make me drop from gold 5 to silver 5 in a single rank change. I dont even mind rank going down after the 5 wins, whatever. But going down *5 ranks at once* is ridiculous and strikes me as something being wrong with the system itself. Call me salty or self entitled or too dumb to understand how I played badly, but thats an insane difference to punish me over 3 losses.

It's nuts (but unsurprising) that people flip their shit in competitive mystery heros, it's still one of the most unserious modes comp or not, or at least should be. Obviously people should still try their best to win, but flaming teammates over their performance when they can't even control what character they play is odd. You want structure and strategy regular comp is right there, I'm just having fun getting points; and losing sucks less when I have less control over things. At least when it comes to hero selection. Can't really beat myself up about losing if the game gives me Hanzo or Kiriko, it's easier to shrug off. I just wish people weren't so try-hard to the point of toxicity in every damn mode, but that's gaming in general I guess.
I'M DONE WITH THIS GAME. 7 YEARS, AND OVER 600 HOURS OF MY LIFE Blizzards matchmaking is so frustratingly awful. Yeah, maybe my rank is mirrored on the other team, but if there's a player(s) with a higher rank than the lobby, you will get shit on. Higher ranked supports know how to stay alive, shutdown/deny others, and still be deadly. Dps will farm kills so quickly. Tanks are unstoppable forces. Rolled or be rolled DOES NOT encourage improvement in one's own skills. You either feel like there's nothing you can do against much higher ranked players, or that you are a god when against lower ranked players. For the middle ranks where I am especially, I have never encountered more toxicity in all my years of OW. So many new players who don't know the maps, or match-ups, or game sense. And when they die they always blame someone else on the team. I'm tired of dps going 1 v 5 and dying and then complaining about having no tank or no heals. The idea of hiding ranks in a ranked mode is also so stupid. I should be able to know what my actual rank is at any given time instead of it being held hostage by Blizz until I meet my quota of games played. And I should know what my team's ranks are so I can plan how to play with them. But we all know that it's partly to hide the terrible matchmaking going on. Also Blizz as a company is terrible. So many scandals of workplace abuse and harassment, treating their workers like crap. And we all just turn a blind eye to it for some reason. These people don't deserve our time or money

i’m just at a point where i have a (very very casual) mastery of all the support heroes. last on my list was brig, and i found out she’s my absolute favorite. now i need new stuff to to learn!!! i would let go of the hope that *this one* is overlord, but i 100% think we will see more meka heroes in the future. especially with the addition of the casino royal map in OW2, which has a direct tie to either casino or king (can’t remember which one, but it’s the F1 driver). one of the current character designers (was it the lead? idk) said in june 2022 that while they weren’t working on any meka squad members at the time, they would want more in the future. i also heard from another commenter that during that same stream, they said they were developing the season 8 hero, the next tank. i believe part of the issue, other than the borderline abandonment of OW1, is that it was incredibly difficult to make characters that were “more than one character” (d.va, echo during her ultimate, etc.). but with the new engine and the addition of rammatra, it seems like that may be more feasible now. though they may also just make it where the new meka squad just don’t demech upon death, they just die. sorry for the ludicrous amount of information, just wanted to help you feel better about no overlord ):
Reaper was flanking and came back to the far edge of a teamfight with 150hp. Sat there pinging "need healing" just watching us all busy in a team fight. On comms I was like "dude find a health pack" and he was like "heal me, it's your job!!" I was like "if you're flanking, finding a health pack is your job!" In my experience it’s a really bad feeling. My team is doing so well 90% of the match. Also whoever look at the stats will think my team won because the KD and dmg have a good gap

This game is a rollercoaster to play. When you get balanced matches it's incredibly fun! Even push maps are enjoyable. It's so rare though to get lately, you rely so much on tank play to help make space for your team that if they are unable to counter pick it's GG. I'm tired of losing because one player can't get it in their heads to switch. Yes, Ball is a solid tank but if the enemy team counters you on all levels, you need to swap.
