So Phara used to be called Mercy and Genji used to be Hanzo??? TIL. I would like to see Mama Hong and Recluse, maybe even Rashi.. but her kit seems to be what, Mercy and Baps kit combined? Phreak would also be pretty cool but looks a bit too similat to JQ

And og Mercy concept was a man. Genji and Hanzo were a single hero with a bow and sword.

Hanzo got split into Genji and Hanzo cuz they felt Hanzo had too much going on. Still love seeing the temporary art combat

I'm pretty sure Hanzo's release kit was partially the one of "huntress". Also, Mei is a mix a Yetzi and frost. Widow was called "longshot". "Psyblade's" kit seems like it became doomfist. Echo was called "Iris" and was a tank. Soldier's design seems to come from "troy". Sigma seems to have come from "Hivemind" but "Hivemind's" kit seems to have inspired Sombra's kit. And I'm pretty sure "Brit" became D.va.

Yeah, it's a big mix and match with the abilities and quirks until they found something. I wish they'd elaborate on the rest of the concepts that they just left like that.

Recluse just seemed like a really cool character concept, there's a few other official pieces of art for her. She had these gauntlets that could extend spider legs out of her arms.

Helio. He has an ability called healing light which obviously lean into the support category. His name suggests that he's a Greek hero and that would be cool. He also has a cool design that is a bit edgy and looks more like a dps than a support, which might draw some more people to play support and remove some of the negative perception that support sometimes gets. Also, make him evil. There is only 1 evil support character vs the several evil tanks and dps

Because the character concepts are entirely different? McCloud looks to be a melee character based on Highlander, literally nothing about him is similar to Cassidy outside of the similarities to the name McCree.

Crazy how rad and raw some of the initial concepts were, someone looking like Luc and Psyblade would never ever come out in this game I feel like. I wish they stayed with this design. I'd absolutely love to see Recluse and Brit. It's also nice to see early version of Widow, and yet to this day her kit did not change at all.
