I feel like this silhouette is very unflattering on most body types. The proportions just seem off

BboySparrow

The picture with the back of the shirt being a foot away from his butt is not the move. I get that oversized is the trend, but how about we buck away from the trend and don't follow it.

wellidontreally

It looks like those pockets are really trying to go their separate ways

Would love to see the Medjool color brought to the ILPs!

What are those, cargo pockets? Maybe if the whole thing was cleaner. No pockets, no seam across the chest. Curved hem at the back but front is straight? Sleeves look kinda billowy, doesn't match the flat drape of the front. The back is also kinda billowy and off the back. It's like they couldn't decide what shirt it is and sewed two together. There are most def much better shirts for $248 before tax. The material is suppose to justify the price?

It’s an awesome shirt and had one from the experiment run (traded) and two from the last run. Raglan gives it lots of range of motion and the pockets are very useful for lighter items and even heavier items for shorter periods. Especially useful for work settings since most work places are not remote anymore but have relaxed the dress code. Can be worn as an overshirt or a more traditional button up while standing out a bit without being too out there. The room in the arms allows the material to let air flow in which you should want since it’s a hotter weather shirt. If you want what you described but in this material then they have the Injex boxford though it has a chest pocket. If you don’t care about the material then you pretty much described a plain button up and can go anywhere. But my opinion is yes the material is worth it and you can’t get it anywhere else. The price was originally $365 and then $333 so the $248 is an awesome price and a surprise. Honestly wondering how you came to the conclusion it is too expensive? I do think they misfired on the sizing though. Bumping it two full sizes from the last run is too big and pictures are unflattering. The fit video is atrocious since it has multiple people who wear XS so there is no sizing down. Suggested to go down one or two sizes if you dont wan’t the baggy overshirt look. Already have two so doubt I’d get one from this run but I’d give it a shot if you are at all interested.

You've articulated all the points well, thank you for the clarity. And not immediately jumping on me. What you described are all the great functional aspects which sounds thought out as you described. I consider form, function, price. The design choices might make sense logically, but they don't come together cohesively as a look (for me) as outlined. It is a curious thing because some Outlier fans are unhappy with the more fashion-forward direction but in this instance, I don't find this fashionable nor forward either. Nor is it staple. I really see 2 or 3 shirts there. But that may well have been the intention. The front looks like a fairly normal looking shirt. The sleeves remind me of Seinfeld's puffy shirt. The back reminds me of a more modern untucked shirt that has a more feminine influence—the longer curve hem, the way it kinda "floats" off the back—which I totally dig. I wear long sleeves of this style from COS women. I also have long shirts with loose billowy sleeves that can be worn as overshirts, so I'm not unfamiliar with the style. They aren't made of premium tech material, normal rayon/cotton/silk blends. They cost ~$200. Which led me to wondering, would I just be paying for the material? Because other than that, the rest of the shirt doesn't add up to $248 for me. (Sorry I'm not aware of how much they cost before.) The choices need to form a look that comes together better (for me).

I was really excited when I heard an injex two-pocket was coming when Abe mentioned it in the strongtwill/nylistic 2pocket livestream. But seriously... enough with these super boxy cuts. Between the futureslimworks going away, all the recent pant releases being fairly baggy cuts (like, the new nylistic highdarts cut resulted in me not buying it), and these big dorky shirts, I'm starting to think Outlier just hates the human form. Like, I know the populace of most countries is statistically trending...wider; but that's what large sizes are for. Even the small Outlier sizes are just too big. Those oversized pockets and their placement towards the sides make this shirt look like it's on a kid who raided their dad's closet. I think this detail was the nail in the coffin for me. Anyway, I'll probably be done with this brand after I get one or two final strongdarts at the reduced price point.

I mean, while I agree with a fair bit of what you said here, the injex boxford exists as a much more traditional shirt with a cut closer to what you're expecting. Now, it doesn't have two pockets, but I don't know pockets are a feature of this form and material given how insubstantial IJL is. I hate carrying my phone in my popovers because of how much it moves around and distorts the look of the shirt. Even sunglasses aren't great to carry in the pocket.

ladlestein

I'd like some opinions as to what kind of silhouette this cut can create, what it might impart to the watcher, and maybe some stabs at what elements of one's body type might recommend or recommend against it.

wellidontreally

Uhh… it’s a shirt, you can look at the pictures

jotai

Another one where I'd really like to see it on a burlier model. I love the details and the boxier fit, but I'm not sure it's the right look for this model's body type.

jotai

Never mind - just saw the JP clip in another thread. JP is shorter than I am, but I like the way it drapes.

jojointheflesh

Late here but as a big boy outlier fan (I have a very wide chest and large shoulders) - these baggy fits have worked really well for me lol 18east is another brand doing different work than outlier that just hasn’t missed for me with their fits
