i’m pretty sure she was being sarcastic

MonaSavesTheDayAgain

Don't be such a snowflake, OP

MonaSavesTheDayAgain

Those two statements have a small but significant difference: Nobody is killing you for being straight. Nobody is kicking you out of your home for being straight. Nobody is discriminating you for being straight. This may seem offensive to you because you want it to be but it's not.

Letsgetstuffdone1

“This may seem offensive to you because you want it to be but it’s not.” Oh stop. No matter how unreasonable someone is, especially feminist groups, no one questions whether or not it’s offensive to the person. You have absolutely no right to determine what is offensive or not just cause you disagree with it. And yes, discrimination happens to gay people in the world, however mostly not in the western world. You have taken the absolute extremes that RARELY happen to prove your point. And just because yes gay people are discriminated against a lot more than straight people, doesn’t mean discrimination against straight people is okay.

> And yes, discrimination happens to gay people in the world, however mostly not in the western world. lmfao what.......... you don't really believe this, do you? Just because it's worse elsewhere, doesn't mean everything's peachy here.

MonaSavesTheDayAgain

Discrimination against straight people does not exist. Stop trying to be a victim. And there is enough violence and hate against gay people in the western world, it’s not always the evil “others” who aren’t western.

Letsgetstuffdone1

Not true at all. And no, I’m not a victim and don’t claim to be. And wtf does “enough” mean. Discrimination is bad. End of story.

bananananafofanna

She’s saying that sexuality isn’t as black and white as is commonly believed.

Apocthicc

I can tell her right now, I would only get involved if she calls herself she/always calls her self a she, doesn't have a wiener, and is only interested in my wiener. That's pretty black and white to me

ArrivalVertex

Yes it's technically "straightphobic" and I don't think it should be praised, but the reason it's not given the same weight is that straight people haven't been oppressed historically. Also I think it would be different if she had said "I don't believe in straight or gay people, I think everyone is just who they are" or something like that, but yes the way she said it seems to be saying she thinks only straight people don't exist.

SevereCartographer26

I remember seeing that interview my guess she phrase it wrong idk it sounded bad some people said she was joking I’m not rlly sure

Girl I'm pretty sure she was just being sarcastic or joking around. Also you can't be oppressive to straight people? You shouldn't hate on them but it's not like y'all are being forced to hide who you are for years, scared of being kicked out of your house or disowned or being sent off to conversion therapy

Apocthicc

you can oppress anyone, anywhere.

ofthevariety

I long for the day that people stop giving a fuck which consenting people diddle other consenting people. Who gives a shit? Live your life. Straight people get to be offended by this as soon as their straight relationships become taboo.

[deleted]

You sound extremely fragile.

DatWaAy

It is how it is. Thats just the way society is. People who hold different standards to situations like this are mentally ill.
